“THE BLACK PRINT TOP”

huntergreen2

On the August 1st show I will also be presenting one print….THE LACE PRINT TOP, A257302………Many of the prints I use come from European print studios. Their representatives come into my NYC office and present to me the newest prints of the season, so when I say the prints are European….it’s the designs that are from Europe, and then I sometimes change or alter themĀ  to suit the garment I have designed for their use. The top above is 27 inches long for the XS, and the design was configured to fit into all sizes from XXS to 3X without loosing the integrity of the print. The “Lace” print above is one of those selected prints, and it is EXCLUSIVE TO ME and LINEA. It is a PLACEMENT PRINT, which is a specialty of these European design houses. They are extremely popular with all of the European designers and continue to be at the FOREFRONT of what is happening in the print world. This design has a front and back panel of a very INTRICATE lace pattern consisting of PAISLEYS and FERN LEAVES. The side panels and sleeves are a second pattern of an Art Nouveau type flower, geometrically placed. Please notice the change of COLOR and the SHADING on either side of the lace pattern. This was specifically done to SLENDERIZE and ELONGATE. The third pattern on the print top is the BOTTOM BORDER….which finishes the design off, and keeps the above patterns contained. The print in the photo above is called……….BLACK……..but there are wonderful shades of STONE and a warm TAUPE/BROWN on either side of the panel. The fabric is the same poly/span blend as my TILE PRINT top and skirt. This was printed by the same print company that did the tile print, and the execution of this lace print is SUPERB!!!!! BLACK, WALNUT, TAUPE and STONE bottoms can all be worn successfully with this color top. In the photos above I have the top worn with my BLACK WK PENCIL SKIRT, A237412, but wait until you see the top with my NEW STONE WK PENCIL SKIRT [due in Oct.], and the STONE ANIMAL INSTINCTS TIGHTS….[which is how I will present it on the Aug. 1 show…a sneak peek of the skirt]. It truly brings the outfit to a whole other level…… Other women will think you spent a fortune on your outfit….I would recommend wearing a BLACK SUEDE PUMP [heel height isn’t important] or a BLACK SUEDE SHOE BOOT or BOOT…..you will be RUNWAY READY!

    Hi Louis,

Fabulous show! Love the printed top. One Linea Lady likened it to an elaborate spider web. I think it looks like an elaborate tattoo. At any rate, it’s gorgeous, and might be one of your archive prints you are bringing us to include in our own achrives.
When I saw the movie of YSL’s life, I was expecting to see photography of all his amazing designs. Can you believe they didn’t even reference the tuxedo silhouette?
Thank Goodness for QVC because all the designs of Linea are there for everyone to see! Your prints, your knits—by the way love the OTO, and got two colors. What else will be coming to coordinate with the Petrol Blue?

I’m also not a print person, but this one is irresistible. Beautiful! I’ll wear this with black primarily, but will this also work with a brown leather skirt?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

ABSOLUTELY! Your brown leather skirt is like a black skirt….you can wear it with many things….Every single one of the new draped front cardigan sets….black, nutmeg, petrol blue, royal purple and taupe would work with a brown leather skirt. Maybe my walnut tights would be good too.

    Strangely intriguing top, Louis.

That group that produced this and the tile print top and skirt are cutting edge, in a very good way.

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

They are one of the finest printers. They always do beautiful work

The tile print top is one of my all-time favorite Linea items. I have all three color ways and wear them frequently. I hope you repeat the identical cut in another equally fabulous print.

I’m looking forward to this one for the winter season!

Gorgeous Louis!!! What would you call the neckline shape? I can do jewel or lower, but don’t look good in a crew neck.

  5. Kate

How elegant and also kind of rocker chic, too. You’re killing it this season!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Especially with black or dark brown real LEATHER pants!

      1. Kate

Can you just see it? That would be spectacular. Now everyone will start begging you for leather pants.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Do you know how many times I’ve tried to get them to do real leather or suede pants!!! They would never ever ever buy them…and I personally don’t care for faux leather pants. Imdid sell suede pants on the Q many moons ago, but sadly those days are O.V.E.R.

          1. Kate

Back in the old days they used to do suede slim skirts in lots of colors for something like 25.00 each. I can’t imagine what animal they used that brought the price so low. Oh, and these were washable too? Investment dressing is not the Q’s stock in trade, but who knows what the future will bring.

ETA–of course none of us could rock the look better than your very own Jac!

Love this top in the Black…I noticed you didn’t use any necklaces??? only an earring…do you think the top is too busy or just doesn’t need one? Beautiful print!

    1. Sherry

Forgot to ask…how about layering the new Draped Front Cardigan in Black or the new Zip-Front cardigan…which I haven’t seen yet…can’t wait to see the Stone WK skirt, will there be any pants in Stone? thanks again!

        1. Sherry

Thanks, so is there a jacket/sweater that will work over this beautiful top? I’m one of the no print people, but I did step out and buy the Tile Print Skirt…in 2 colors even…I really think this top is for me.

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

I totally misunderstood your question…I thought you were asking if the two sweaters would work together. I tried the drape front Cardi over the print top and they look wonderful together….except the cardi is a little shorter than the top in the back, but today that’s no big deal. I will also have a topper and other things during he season. On PM Style on the 18th I will have thew outerwear swing jacket that will work too.

            1. Sherry

Sounds great…that outerwear swing jacket on the 18th sounds good too!

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear sherry….it really doesn’t need a necklace and I, believe it or not, do not have one that I felt was right. If I had the sample of my new Linea Gunmetal ball necklace I would have tried that, but really an earring and cuff is enough.
