“THE WHITE & BLACK EYELET SHIRT JACKET”

bread1

……………….I think this EMBROIDERED EYELET SHIRT/JACKET, A265616,  just may become a go to piece………..The fabric is the key here….It’s 100% cotton, but it’s the embroidery that tells the tale……..The more stitch count to the embroidered openwork the more costly the fabric, and this shirt has tons of open work and  emb. There is an English female designer who has also done an emb. eyelet shirt this year in an almost exact pattern……really I couldn’t tell the difference in the fabric. However, the price of her shirt and mine are oceans apart. The silhouette is simple. A classic straight body with a turn back 3/4 length sleeve. The shirt collar has a separate stand so it’s easy to flip up for a little attitude. There are small side slits. The length is approx.25 inches for the size 6…..Yes, it is numerically sized…… Since you will have to wear a tank or something under it…I prefer it left unbuttoned. This a a terrific shirt to pop a color under such as mt Petrl blue tank shown above. This shirt can work for anyone’s life style, and can be worn for many occasions or none at all. This is one of those simple but stylish timeless pieces that will come in very handy when you want a little something to cover your arms. Wear it over separates or a little dress……..The colors are BLACK or WHITE……a very easy decision…………………………..enjoy………………..much Love…………………………………Louis

Hello Louis, I just ordered the braided skirts and tunics and I noticed the stripe dress is avail also. I have a question, would you put the eyelet jacket in black over the topaz horizontal stripe dress? If not, would you put the eylet jacket in black over any of the other colors of the horizontal stripe dress? I need my arms covered so I was wondering I that would work. Please let me know. Thank you

Oh, Louis, I just LOVE this jacket … it will be BOTH colors for me, and wishing there was a Navy one! Nope I can get them before a late June wedding weekend on the water near Annapolis 🙂 Now being a PLUS, I’ll wear these open, over a lovely dress, or a tank and skirt or pants etc. …. if I were slim, or even hourglass, I’d wear over a tank and skirt, and then cinch this eyelet in with a black leather obi belt, sigh …

    THANKS, Louis!

Dear Cathy….don’t feel bad…if I were thin I’d do the same thing….LOL…..I’m sure you will look smashing!

Will this look good with the printed black & blush tank from last summer
    Prints will look good?????

    1. louis dell'olio

I can’t give you a definitive answer about that. These quirky combinations have to be tried on to see if you like it or not. It’s an unconventional combo, and very individual. Someone may think it looks great and another not so. I would say it’s pushing it. That may be good or bad.

      1. NJlady

So not even black & white stripe – only solid tanks?

        1. louis dell'olio

A stripe is much more understandable then the Lotus print, as I said, you have to experiments with different things. I would not say you are limited to solid tanks.

This is it! Cotton, see thru for over sleeveless tops. I don’t think boxy is a problem when you can glimpse the body underneath. I really like the angular window pane pattern. If this isn’t oversized, I may order up for a breezier fit. It is 60 degrees with floods and tornado warning now. Grandkids want to go swimming, but I said we would have to set up a hyperthermia station! For once, I am saying, “Hurry summer!”

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I hope you aren’t anywhere near the floods I’ve seen on TV!….The jacket is very open and airy, because the open Emb goes all the way around, so it doesn’t scream boxy….it’s just easy.

I am glad to see 100% cotton fabric. In past years the QVC hosts would sometimes mention that the fabric was preshrunk. Do you have any knowledge whether this fabric was preshrunk or should we take that into consideration when looking at the size measurements? Thanks.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I do not know if the fabric was pre shrunk, but with all of the open work and emb. I don’t think it will shrink if you follow the washing instructions…….if I owned it I would have it dry cleaned, but that’s just me.

Wow ! How awesome would this be with a woven leather bag and a suede skirt or shorts ?

Something about it reminds me of the plaid shirt jacket from years ago, that came in all the color combinations, remember ?

    1. louis dell'olio

Yes why not…..if you are referring to the silk plaid shirt….yes they are similar in silhouette.

I really like the look of the white eyelet jacket, but I wonder if the sleeves are scratchy? I have nerve damage in one arm, and I can’t stand anything the least bit scratchy. I’m hoping it’s a soft fabric. I have all colors of the lace sleeve cardigan, and it’s very soft and not scratchy at all.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Lyn…..that’s a tough question to answer. The lace is definitely softer. I wouldn’t call this fabric scratchy, but it is, for lack of a better word, rougher because of the texture and thickness of the emb. For anyone else I doubt that this would be noticed or an issue, but I don’t know your tolerance level.

Thanks, Louis, for your honest reply. I think the only way I could wear this jacket would be with a 3/4 sleeve top. That would probably defeat the purpose of the jacket. I may, though, buy one and give it a try.

Wow. This is totally cool. Airy, but edgy, + a piece that will look as great at the beach as it will in the city. Kudos, really. This is special.

PERFECT! From office to dinner to Saturday matinees to the BBQ party, these are perfect. Thanks for showing these and for the great styling ideas (as always!). This is the perfect topper for my new Linea slim leg pants, the drawstring ponte skirt from a past season, the A-line tank dress also from a past season, and a plain black sleeveless sheath dress that looks at me from the closet asking when am I going to get a nice “something” to wear over it? It’s now only a matter of time. Thank you, Louis! You are the best!

This shirt jacket fascinates me. The practical side of me admonishes that when I put something on, I want to be warmed. The free-floating and imaginative me thinks this is a stellar piece, no matter what it does in the way of warming me up. Smart-looking and yet poetic, in some way. Don’t know where I’m going with it.

What a striking statement piece, both architectural and feminine at the same time. Your spring/summer line has been nothing but amazing…wish it weren’t coming all at the same time.

I can’t find a Cobalt tank in your inventory. Is this something you will be adding soon?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Sorry…..my mistake….it’s the Petrol Blue!

      1. Lyn

Was this the color you used in the Whisper Knit Open Front cardigan and tank? If so, I do have the tank.

        1. louis dell'olio

It’s A237404…..it’s from last fall…there was the open front draped front cardigan and i believe a long WK skirt too.
