“MY VERY FIRST LINEA SHOW!”

…………………….My very first Linea show for QVC was May 2000, and we traveled to Paradise Island to do the show. Judy Crowel [sp] was the host. I remember most of the clothes, but some of the details are fuzzy….The sketchers weren’t very elaborate, actually they were only for Elaine and I to work from so they were “work” sketches……Looking at the sketches on the chart at the upper left corner starting at the top row, far left, there was a V-neck cotton/acrylic tunic sweater [long before WK]. The bodies were one color and the bands were in the different bright colors of the collection…The next “Big Shirt” was a dip dyed SILK georgette!…….next was my “Jockey Shirts” in SILK crepe de chine. I think the front and back were different colors, and the sleeves were different colors. The placket, collar and cuffs were in WHITE COTTON. This was a big hit and reordered for years to come. Jac loved this shirt and wore it with white pants and shorts. That really surprised me, because Jac rarely wore such colorful clothes. Next was a cotton stretch twill tunic length jacket with snaps and grommet details. I believe it came in white, peony pink and turquoise all with gold……..NEXT ROW….I don’t remember that shell that says linen?……..Next was a solid silk georgette big shirt with a sheer chiffon wide matching border [in bright colors]. Next was a sleeveless shift dress in the stretch cotton twill with a partial zip front and grommet details to match the jacket in the same fabric and colors……..Next was a silk V-neck tank that was reversible in different colors…..lime/turquoise and pink and fuchsia………Next the silk Big Shirt in the large peony floral print. It came in 3 colors. The missing color was a neutral khaki. I originally did the print for AK and it was made in Italy. The Chinese copied it exactly and it was still silk!…..The BOTTOM row at left was a pair of silk draw string wide leg pants with pockets in colors to go with all of the silk big shirts. The next two pieces, the crop pant and short pencil skirt were in the cotton trill stretch in the white, pink and turquoise…………..I remember almost everything selling out…..In those days that was the norm……….This was the first show of 20 years of shows!

“THE TIE DYE CARDIGAN SWEATERS”

……………..The Tie Dye “Print” cardigans were made to look as if they were tie dyes, but they were actually printed for consistency……..They had wonderful contrast gros grain ribbon to reinforce the plackets and delicious “button candy” buttons. These sweater jut never go out of style and look as fresh today as when I first introduced them……………………..

“THE POET SHIRT”

……………….The POET SHIRT…………I first introduced the Poet shirt in 2011. It was reordered the next year and Aqua was added. Even though I started at QVC in 2000 I only started my collages in 2011 when I started my website. I do however have all of my sketches and fabric swatches in binders from the very beginning!……I will try to insert some as I will have to go through a process to get them on my website……..but I have lots of time and it’s a good project………………..enjoy…………..much Love…………Louis
