“THE FIT SHOW”

………………On April 12th I was invited to be on a three person panel to talk about our careers. They also had an incredible exhibit called “DENIM DEVINE”…..Clothes were exhibited designed and made by the students using almost 100% denim, and they were incredible!…..It’s located on 27th street and the corner of 7th Ave…..It was truly wonderful, and if you are in NYC it would be a terrific stop to see!

“THE PANEL”

……………….The panel included Sal Cesarani, a men’s and women’s wear designer, and a COTY AWARD winner……Steven Stipelman…….a brilliant fashion illustrator who has won many awards and has illustrated for WWD for over 40 years [if you’re not familiar with his work you should google him!], and myself. It was basically a gab fest! It was in the Katie Murphy Amphitheater at FIT…..I had been there many times, and I even won my Coty Awards in this very theater…..We talked about our careers, how we got started and what it was like in the GOLDEN YEARS of the 70s, 80s when fashion was skyrocketing and exploding with wonderful designers, wonderful clubs, and restaurants…..I never do these kinds of events, but I enjoyed it very much. As we spoke there was a huge screen behind us and our work was flashing on the screen…..I think the audience enjoyed the talk.

“MY GUESTS”

………………A wonderful group of guests were there…..many I hadn’t seen since I left Anne KleinĀ  over 30 years ago and longer….From the top left George Chinsee, and Thomas Iannaccone, two photographers that I worked with mostly with Womens Wear Daily….They are still snapping away!!…Elaine Saville, who is a facebook friend and long time Linea customer. It was great to put a face to the name……Top right…..Xeomara [I’m sure I spelled it wrong] and Michael Sui…..they both worked for me when they first got out of school over 45 years ago…..They look exactly the same….and Xeo is a grandmother!….They were and are two of the most talented people who ever worked for me. Xeo is an incredible designer and magnificent illustrator. She has become a wonderful fine artist….Michael has his own business now, and creates the most incredible costumes……The middle photo at the left is Tom Sacco and myself. Tom is a friend of mine, and was nice enough to come to the event. At the bottom left is Christopher Uvenio, who is not only responsible for this event, but also curating the Denim Show…..He is an esteemed member of the FIT Staff…..and was a student of mine!

“J435498, THE STERLING HOOP”

…………………………Something new for Spring…..is the STERLING SILVER HAMMERED HOOP……….J435498……. It’s made with the ELECTROFORM process so it’s hollow and light weight, and comfortable to wear all day…….For it’s short-ish length at 1 1/4 inches by 1/2 inches wide at the bottom, it still makes a strong statement……The earring is wider at the bottom and tapers as it gets to the lobe where the BAR & SNAP closure is located……This type of hammered appearance has a hand made artisan feel that looks very expensive. It’s avail in two colors…the STERLING SILVER and the STERLING with the 18 KARAT GOLD PLATE.
