I know you are busy packing up for your trip but I have a question.I received my new ponte pants ( LOVE). I need to have them hemmed and these are slightly skimmer than their sister pants. Where should I hem them to? The top of my foot, at the ankle?

Blue Mist pearls arrived today and I am blown away by the mystical, watery, sea nymph color. I write for a living and I can’t find the right adjectives to describe them! They might be my favorite of all the non-ivory pearls to date. Thank you as always.
Kate, I was leaning toward the Driftwood and now your lovely description has me intrigued by the Blue Mist (and I had thought I was “safe” with that shade). Oh well, I’ll just have to wrestle with my next choice of pearl color.
Hi Louis, Looking forward to your shows. Can you tell me if the red and gold fluted bead necklace will work with the new red ponte jacket? Will there be a WK red tank that matches the jacket down the line.?
Dear Debbie…the necklace does work with the new red. Since the beads are transparent, they pick up the color of the fabric they are laying on. I don’t have a scoop neck tank, just the shell that is avail now.
Thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately, I was too slow on the necklace. I did order the shell in red, just not sure how the 2 necklines will work with each other. Not to fret, the shell will get plenty of use on its own.
Dear Debbie, you may want to consider the J284038 necklace in the same red. I know the reviews are mixed because of trouble with the manufacturing, but if you want to take the chance…it is a beautiful glass bead necklace, and if anything should happen you can send it to my manufacturer to have it repaired
Have two of the faceted bead necklaces ,love them!!! -How can the matching drop earrings be made shorter ,or will you be coming out with a stud? Thanks Debby
It’s very simple to do……..you just have to shorten the chain from the top…..equally from both sides. I’m sure if you can’t do it, you can find someone handy who can…..as a last resort any jeweler can do it in 5 minutes.
Louis, is the A251586 – Anorak – going to be available this JAN show or is it going more towards spring. I love so much of what is going to be in Wednesday’s shows and have already been placing orders. I don’t mean to step out of line and ask about “another” item, but I think an anorak right now would be great here in Florida and I know you have A251586 planned. I have already ordered the 2 new colors in the unlined, bracelet sleeve ponte jacket reorder. That is a jacket I can wear all year long. I am so pleased the 2 new colors will work for Winter color-wise as well as the other 3 seasons. Thanks for bringing such lovely options for all your Linea Ladies.

Hi Louis. I have the “older” ponte slim leg pant in the navy. Do you think these pants will match the new navy jacket in the ponte..assuming dye lot issues? Thanks.
They are supposed to be the same navy, but I can’t guarantee they will be an exact match. This seasons pant and jacket are cut from the same lots….but I really think you could get away with it.
Since I’m sure you’re just sitting around with nothing to do two days before three live shows, a quick question? How does this year’s WK cardigan differ from last year’s version (A233940)?
Dear Kate….you could say a cardigan is a cardigan…but….last years was a jersey knit with tubular trims at the bottom and sleeve hem….this version is an EVER NEEDLE RIB construction so the knitting machines are different. The new version comes off the machine finished without need for added tubular trims…..also this new version has patch pockets……………the new one is LONGER and leaner….meaning it has a slight waist shaping whereas the older one was cut straight so it’s a little boxier. The neck opening on the new one is a little wider…the old one sits closer to the neck…..they may seem like subtle differences, but they are very different cardigans.

Dear NJ Lady…….. I believe the top will be avail in April or May. The rayon/span portion is very stretch so the under piece will fit, and the chiffon top is very loose so I believe it will be flattering.
I am a plus size woman who is 5”6” tall. The Ponte Knit Leggins with Wide Waist fit me perfectly without any hemming or alterations whatsoever. I love that these pants are not too clingy. They make me look trim while still feeling modest (no small feat since I have an “apple with arms and legs” figure). The fabric is such high quality and looks crisp and tailored but feels soft as a dream.
I got the leggings in the Walnut. What a beautiful, rich color! I just love it since it goes with so many things I already own.
I would love to see a matching longish turtleneck and a sweater set in the same colors for that slimming “column of color” effect that you so often talks about. I just love that look. I have a Linea sweater set which is an ivory color with little brass beads all over the cardigan and around the neck of the shell that I just love. How wonderful it would be to have a pair of these pants in ivory to wear with the sweater set!
These are such classic, well-made, perfectly fitting leggings. Please keep making them in even more colors. I would love to see these slacks in a camel, ivory, taupe, dark navy, teal or forest green, rust, topaz, and a solid medium gray. Thanks, Louis!”

One good thing is you have spring to look forward too. I’m sure at this time going out too much, if at all, isn’t an option………….Yes, you can certainly mix the color. The yellow, red, ivory and navy would all work together. The ivory, navy and taupe would all mix well together too. I haven’t been in touch for quite some time. Unfortunately I am in a recovery period from
triple bypass open heart surgery. I’m doing well and Dr.’s say I have a long ruff road ahead
of me, at 63. Recovery time til Spring.
Anyway, I noticed the new “boyfriend” sweaters in the beautuful red an yellow.
I am wondering what your opinion is on getting all four pieces and mixing them with each other.
Being they are both warm colors on the color wheel I thought — maybe.???

Hi Louis: was just able to order the new ponte jackets with the snaps and the matching pant…yay… And am looking forward to the rest of the show. My problem is ,I can’t find any ponte pant in good ole black! Have one pair, A231139…. The one sold with the peplum jacket, and they are getting pretty beat up from wear. A237394 I have in walnut and gray but those are no longer available in black. The new ones, A251581 don’t come in black. Any chance of adding a black to that item? Those are my favorite! Hi Louis. A follow-up on the pearls, please. I know it is difficult to describe color, but are the mocha mist pearls more on the “brown” side, or are they more gold-colored. I assume the mocha mist will look beautiful with the taupe as you have it pictured. Thanks.
I would say they are like coffee with a lot of milk…..if that makes them on the brown side….then yes….they are on the brown side.

Dear BCM………first let me say that all the colors are soft, but all are different. The ivory is a creamy white, the driftwood is a latte or sand color…I know I’m describing one color with another color but explaining color is very difficult. The bronze is more of an antique gold. I think the olive would look terrific on the taupe….very tropical…..I would like it on the yellow too, but I like olive and yellow together….it’s all very subjective and personal.

I believe it’s about 36″. These stones are not as sparkly as the glass. The glass beads have many more facets which makes them much more sparkly than an Emerald cut. Also, the emerald cut stones are not glass

Hi Sean, I mean Louis 🙂 Today, I was wearing what we’ve lovingly nicknamed the new hoonic, (the zippered tunic) when low and behold it started pouring down. I did put the hood up over my head but thought what a fantastic rain coat this style would make in a light weight cotton or blend with a 2 way zipper. I know you are madly busy right now with the upcoming new shows but just wanted to throw this idea into the hat. By the way, I was afraid of the hoonic being as short as I am, but I have to say I looked and felt FABULOUS in it! I have no idea why I continue to doubt you…. LOL

A251579 new WK tank up on the Q. This tank looks awesome. The neckline has a modern feel to it. I adore the simple minimal lines of this piece. Your version of Sunshine yellow looks quite sophisticated, approachable & upscale. Can’t wait to get mine.
I’m so glad you like it CC……..I would not have described it as a “tank”. Not every sleeveless top is a tank. For me a tank has a scoop neckline. This is more of a shell…..anyway….whatever they call it….I’m glad you like it!

The ponte knit seamed button front jacket (A233182) has just had added to waitlist 2 new colors of chili pepper and twig.
First, some of us are wondering what color is twig– in the brown family and how dark or light?
Second, if there are 2 new colors coming in this jacket, do you know yet if some of the other colors were being reordered like the black or white?
Third, the matching drawstring skirt (A233183) was that reordered and if so, will there be a matching color skirt to the new chili pepper and twig jackets?

First….the twig is a mid range taupe…very neutral….looks great with natural flax linen. The chili pepper standard is the same as all,the chili pepper colors I have done. Remember there will be variations in color but they should work together.
Second, some of the old colors are coming back….maybe all but nectarine, but I honestly don’t remember.
Third, the draw string skirt was not reordered…too many returns.
Will you have something in a twig and chili pepper bottom for us to wear with the jackets?
Oh yes, about the dream shirt dresses. They would button all the way down to the bottom. That way you could unbutton a few and wear with leggings. Or, leave it open like a topper. And, would LOVE this same dress in light ponte knit. This classic shirt dress is calling to me!!! Is anyone else feeling this desire?

Dear CC…..I did this exact dress a few years ago, but it didn’t sell well. It ended up on “last clicks”…LOL.I happen to agree with you I think they are great….but they can be a difficult fit for women who have figure issues, and that’s why it didn’t sell well. You would think a classic dress like this would do well, but it only really looks good on certain figure types.

I really would like A214116 button front shirt made into a shirt dress. My dream for this shirt dress would be just below knee length with removable self belt in same fabric. A true shirt dress with 2 inch side slits. It would be a very very slight a line. And, how delightful it would be to have stripes and solids. It would look fabulous with espadrilles. While we’re waiting on pictures….how much snow did you end up with? How much more are you supposed to get with the next one? We’re in SW Kansas, don’t get too much snow around these parts…not like we used to(we have 3″). But when we do get snow, there’s a good chance there will be blizzard conditions because of all the wind we always have…ALL the time…LOL. Stay warm.
We got 8 inches of snow, but it’s not the snow we mind…..it’s the ice!
Ouch!!! I’m with you on that one. We were very lucky this time and missed the ice altogether. One of my brothers lives in North Central Kansas and they were whammed with 1″ of ice and 16″ of snow a week and some ago and received another 10″ with this last storm. Whew….Our outside cat really chubbed up for the winter, catching/eating everything she could from Oct. on…she knew it was going to be a ruff (LOL) winter.

More Whisper Knit–I am in trouble. Lovely trouble! A question about navy (you knew someone would ask): any comparisons to which navy? Last Fall’s WK V-neck/cardigan? Or a more marine navy? Same question for the ponte jacket?
Dear jmarie, whenever I call it navy for the WK I use the same color standard…..so other than dye lots, which can vary, they are the same dark navy….at least that’s the plan.
P.S. The same story holds true for the navy Ponte Knit….however, they have very different fiber contents and the colors can vary due to that. It is more of a miracle when they match exactly…..usually there is an acceptable variance. Even dying the same navy in the same yarns season after season there can be a difference….that’s why I always recommend buying the matching pieces from the same show at one time where 9 times out of 10 they will match perfectly.
OK, Louis, so now I’ll throw a monkey wrench into the “navy” discussion—I have a Midnight Navy Linea T-neck–I think form the year before you started calling it Whisper Knit. It’s a really dark, delicious Navy—is that the color the the WK Navy now?

I don’t have that turtleneck sample so I can’t compare. Do you have any other navy WK pieces to compare it to? Maybe someone answer your question that has both. Gardensla has a few navy pieces maybe she has the turtleneck.
Actually, I do have the Elbow Sleeved WK sweater that went with the TSV Ponte Jacket—I’ll compare the two Navies—I’m in Costa Mesa right now on business, so I’ll do it when I get back to Massachusetts and report.
And while I have your attention, Louis, will we ever be getting solid color v-neck or scoop neck tops in the Poly/Span that we all love so much in the rich prints? I’d buy every slid color! Bring ’em on!

Any chance you will be bringing back some of the old colors in the boho shirt? I had missed out on the turquoise one and I have a kind of bottle green and a purple one, both of which could use replacing. The purple color is absolutely divine. I love these skirts and have most of the colors including a few of the black and olive which are mainstays in my wardrobe. I am on waitlist for your new smoke color boho which I am sure will become one of my favorites. Thanks for continuing to bring these skirts in new colors.

This morning on the QVC forum there was a sneak peek of new ponte pants A251581. They look like they have a higher rise than A237394, the recent pull-on ponte pants which I wasn’t able to wear because the rise was too short and they sat too low on me. Is it just wishful thinking or do these new pants sit a little higher (i.e., a higher rise front and back)? Love the charcoal color and the coordinating jacket A251580!

Happy New Year my dear Kate! The jacket is in the LINEA PONTE. It is aprox 24 inches long for the xs. The body of the jacket is fully lined, but the sleeves are not….much more comfortable and easier to shorten or push up. It has snap out shoulder pads. The flaps are faux but the snaps are real. It has inseam pockets and there are three body seams in the front for a subtle shaping. The RED is not RUBY…it is a brighter SPRING RED, but still with a blue cast as opposed to an orange red. It really is a PURE red. The back has seams also. There will be new WK sweaters to match, like the shell in gODFREAKo’s pics, and an elbow sleeve ENR mock neck, which is fabu. The red had gold hardware….the zipper is a one way, not a two way….not necessary due to length.It will also be avail in the HEATHER GRAY like all of the other Linea Ponte pieces [some are called charcoal??? but they are all the same color grey]. Navy is the third choice with silver hardwear. The coordinating pant is supposed to be exactly like the slim ponte pant that sold out this past season. I say supposed because since it was too early at the time to call it a reorder, it was given a new A number and every new A number has to be refit, but it should be the same. The pants will be in the matching Navy, Red and Heather Gray. The boyfriend cardigan is also in the ENR [every needle rib} stitch and is long with pockets it will be in five colors….red navy, sunburst yellow, ivory and taupe [a sand color]. Anything else?

Dear Jane, I am not 100% sure, but I think they have the same rise as the other pant…..since the office is closed I’ll have to wait until Monday to find out, but I think they are the same since the other pant was very successful and is being reordered.

I have the navy which I believe was added as a new color this past fall. This is one of my favorite sweaters so will be looking forward to adding a new color.
I snapped up the navy last fall. Also have black (natch), aubergine, walnut and red. I missed out on a brighter blue – I think it was called mallard.
This is an amazing sweater. I actually have the black in two sizes – I went up a size when my size was originally sold out, and it is still fantastic – the v is lower in the larger size, and it’s a little slouchy and sexy. I’m not kidding when I say that I think this is a perfect sweater.
And whatever the new color, I’m in!
I have this sweater in two sizes as well. One to wear layered and the other not. Love both sizes equally for how I wear them.
Will J284039 be reordered? It is a double sided cross pendant brown/black with a gunmetal finish. I was on waitlist for several months and then it was canceled. I have the gold cross pendant and love it. Was also on waitlist for gunmetal earrings which was also canceled.
Dear Marilyn….I don’t know for sure but all indications are it will be, because the returns are very low and it sold out….so it should be and it is on the potential reorder list, but that’s no guarantee.
We have a blizzard warning for Long Island. So glad we installed the whole house, natural gas generator after Sandy. Hopefully, we do not have to use it. Happy new year to all, and stay safe out there.

YEP!!! Jac made two big pots of soup, some nice crusty bread and red wine. The fire wood is stacked in the house and in the fireplace….we have puppy friendly salt for the walk, one of the cars is in the garage, so we are ready as we can be. The only problem is we have theater tickets for tomorrow evening in the city!!!!!!!

Is Jac a fantastic cook? Do you get in there and cook as well? My hubby had to learn to cook a few years ago when I was really bad and down for a while…he’s turned out to be a really good cook. He is a friend from my old Bronx neighborhood and I will be going to see the play on January 18th with some old neighborhood friends. I think John will be meeting us afterwards. It looks like a great romantic story with Debra Messing.

No, the show we were seeing is a British comedy/musical…”A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder”..however we were able to switch the tickets to another night due to the weather. I really didn’t want to drive into the city with this weather and slippery roads.

LDO–The WK turtleneck shows “Charcoal Grey” as a wait list option. Weird as I’m guessing this is part of your Fall, 2014 collection. Anyway, can you tell us a bit more about how this compares to the “Pewter” WK you offered this year? Assuming it’s much darker and more sooty?
Dear Kate….these reorder colors get posted by QVC as soon as the order is placed, but they really shouldn’t be because it is a fall item, but that’s how there computer system is programed. I haven’t even approved the color yet. Ideally it is a gray that will work with all of my heather gray ponte knit pieces, but it will be a darker gray. Darker than the smoke or pewter……definitely darker…I’m not sure about sooty as a color reference….if you mean a dark gray yes but not a light black.
Maybe the same color as the every needle rib knit skirt in grey?

Can you please tell me is it the Buyers for Qvc that are resistant to buying white slacks? It seems that last year they tried taupe and stone, but a pure white seemingly is never available. Do they think we are all overweight and wont buy them??? Although, I noticed that Isaac has a pull on knit ankle pant that he’s selling in pure white in the middle of the winter and SG tried a off white last summer, but that fabric was too thin so it wasn’t a hit. Can you PLEASE bring us white slacks for the summer, maybe selling the buyer on a nautical theme…white slacks, chanel red tops and navy items might do the trick?
The buyers have no problem with white pants…..as a matter of fact I will have four white pant bottoms in different fabrics and lengths to choose from this spring/summer…..they need no convincing since almost every pair of white or ivory pants I’ve done are completely sold out

I had a question what color v neck tunics in ponte knit (A237291) go with the walnut. I have the walnut and I love the column look, does the sapphire/forest green work with the walnut leggings also? not sure would love your input
Dear nikki….the walnut is so dark that any of the colors you choose will work…..just pull it together with your accessories.

Dear NJ Lady the clothes I’m presenting on the Jan. 15th show are transition clothes and spring clothes. Many can be worn now and then into spring and early summer……like the Kate shirt in the new gray….it has no season….. or the reorder of the scoop neck WK sweater with short sleeves that was presented last Jan. with the TSV peplum jacket…..they can be worn all year long……there is definitely a variety.
Question please…is the Beet Red a different color than the Wine, in the ponte knits, or just a different name? thanks
Dear Sherry, they are different colors. The beet red is brighter and lighter than the wine, however you could wear the wine legging with the beet red hooded tunic
Can I ask a few jewelry-related questions?
Kate was wearing two large gold bangles during the maxi presentation and Jac was wearing a CRAZY awesome necklace during the hooded tunic presentation.
Are these prop jewelry, their own, or coming later this season?
These are part of my collection. Bangles are very difficult to get made for QVC. They have to be in at least two sizes and the quantities the factories ask is HUGE. The necklace I will be bringing to my next meeting, but I know the shape bead will be very difficult to find. The quality od the bead is the same as my glass faceted bead long necklace, but as I said the shape of the bead is very unique. It also may be too expensive for QVC. Above a certain price they just don’t sell, and selling to the 150 or 200 women just does not meet the quantities required. I’m not giving up hope yet until the meeting……if you get the grey faceted bead necklace and wrap it around the neck 4 times it will have a similar effect. Jac wore it with the pewter silk/cashmere cardigan and tank……Brenda was wearing the bronze on the black cardigan with the ivory pant and it was wonderful looking and I gave Kate 3 necklaces in the black jet on the ivory cardigan with the black velvet pant.
So, if I have this correct, the bangles and necklace are only on the drawing board for the time being? I have the necklace in the grey and will do as you suggest, but will hope for Jac’s necklace, too?
Actually I don’t even have to draw them since I have the samples…..it’s more a matter of whether my manufacturer can source them and then make them for a QVC price.
Well, if its still up for discussion can I beg for a true size SMALL in the bangle?!! I feel shut out of the Linea arm party.
BTW, wore your new sequin pieces all season long and felt like a combination of Duchess Kate and Charlize Theron! So classy but still whoa, baby bombshell. I know it’s too soon for a reorder discussion, but I should would love these in charcoal grey.
Finally, I was in Zara today (just back from London and trying to stay awake) and they had a pink coat that’s a near line-for-line copy of your boucle topper, right down to the fabric. Your version is better constructed and I think, nicer fabric. Always ahead of the trends…
Don’t worry about the bangles, I doubt I ill be able to do them. Since the only color that did really well in the sequin pieces was the black I doubt that it will be reordered, and I don’t know what the returns are yet.

My beard could never break us up! LOL Everyone at QVC really loved it. After Jac pronounced early in the morning that she didn’t like it……people started whispering in my ear that they really loved it. Everyone thought I looked younger?? They didn’t have o say that….they could have just said they liked it, but so many, individually said the same thing that I was a little surprised.I don’t think it’s the look that Jac really objects to, because she has admitted she actually thinks I look handsome, but she prefers me clean shaven, and she definitely doesn’t like the prickling, which can be a BIG problem for the both of us…LOL

I have a question about ponte knits. I’ve seen some pontes being advertised as 240g or 360g and I wonder what this actually means and what are the differences in these weights/qualities. Also, could you tell us what gram weight are your ponte knits?

Dear Jane……normally the gram weight indicates how heavy a fabric is, but don’t pay too much attention to that, because without knowing the width of the fabric, the gm weight can be deceiving. A 60 inch wide fabric at 360 grams actually is lighter than a 240 gram fabric at 45 inches wide….see what I mean? The gm weight is determined by the yard or meter depending on the measurement used by the country you purchase the fabric from. A yard is shorter than a meter so that will also make a difference when comparing the weight of different fabrics. A fabric by the yard may be 240 grams and is still heavier than a fabric that is 360 grams but is measured by the meter. I don’t pay much attention to gram weight….I go more with the touch and drape of the fabric. I actually have no idea what the gm weight is of the ponte I use. It’s never been important to me. I like it because it’s versatile. I can do jackets, pants, skirts, dresses and tunics in this fabric, so for me it’s the ideal weight……whatever that might be………………………….HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours!

Hi Louis, I received the new ponte legging today. I had just watched the recording of the presentation of them and then they were here! First, this is my first piece of the ponte and these leggings fit so great. I bought 3 of the 4 colors. I really liked the weight, not to heavy and not to thin.. Just wanted to say thanks again for all you do for us and how much I love the leggings..
