“SNEAK PEEK #3”

Happy 4th of July Everyone!!!!…….. and as promised I am bringing you, not one but two sneak peeks…..the SCARF TOP A226254 and the CASCADE SKIRT, A226260. The story really is about the PRINT. Of course, this is an exclusive print that was designed by me and developed by my print studio. It is a wonderful BORDER PAISLEY PRINT which is available in three color combinations……….CHILI PEPPER……….PALE OLIVE………STRAW…..and each one looks totally different and has it’s own character. The Chili Pepper, as its’ name, is HOT,HOT,HOT. The Pale Olive is quieter and very sophisticated and chic. The Straw is soft, gentle and very calming. The fabric is the same poly georgette that I have used in the wood block print….it is semi sheer and very fluid.

The SCARF TOP, A226260, is an engineered print, which means the motifs are designed to be in a certain place on each and every garment. So, it is not randomly cut….the center paisleys were designed to always be in THE CENTER of the garment. The top has a specially designed border running along the bottom. There are top stitches running vertically through and through the garment on each side of the body to control wear the top sits on you. Each top comes with a poly jersey tank to match…..in the chili pepper, pale olive and straw. Buy your normal size so that the tank fits you properly. I haven’t shown all of the possibilities in the pictures but, this is a top you can wear ALL YEAR LONG depending on how you layer it. In the summer, wear it with a tank…..in the winter, wear it layered with a turtle or mock neck sweater. Wear it as a two piece dress with the matching skirt for my BOHEMIANS out there, or one of your Boho skirts [notice the straw over the new taupe boho]. It really is quite marvelous worn this way if you can carry it off. Wear it with sandals in the summer and boots in the fall and winter. I also paired the Straw and the Pale Olive tops with the PALE OLIVE HERRINGBONE TROUSER….perfection….a wonderful mix of  fabrics. The bottom center photos show the Chili Pepper top with the ESPRESSO JERSEY PANT, 221815, a wonderful languid and relaxed look. If you are a Linea collector, I am sure you already have many things in your closet that work with any of these tops. Naturally, for the most casual of looks….JEANS are a natural with this Paisley top. The sleeve hits approx. three quarters of the way down the arm. For me this top and the colors it comes in are the perfect transition pieces to be worn now and into the fall without skipping a beat!

The CASCADE SKIRT, A226260, again is made in the same poly georgette and is lined in georgette. The skirt is approx. 29 inches long and has a pull-on elastic waist. PLEASE, buy the size that you “normally” would buy. It won’t be too big, but always check out measurements! The silhouette of the skirt is a fluid A-Line. It looks like a wrap skirt with a ruffle CASCADING down over one leg, but it is a FAUX WRAP. In the photo on the upper right, I have paired the STRAW skirt with the olive tank from last season [it has not been reordered], with the olive cardigan worn over the shoulder [the cardigan has been reordered, but in all new colors plus black]. Another photo shows the olive short sleeve mock neck with the Pale Olive Herringbone blazer and yes, the mock in Olive is coming back along with everyone’s favorite….. the long sleeve V-neck, which will work beautifully with these skirts….If you already own the wheat tank, it works beautifully with the straw skirt….mix it up with a contrast cardigan, olive, aubergine….just pick a color in the skirt. Last, but certainly not least, is another sneak peek!!!…… the SHIRT/JACKET…… in the STRAW and CHILI PEPPER. It is the perfect compliment to these skirts and EVERYTHING ELSE in the collection…..but more about this later. PLEASE NOTICE the CHANDELIER EARRING, J270116, in the upper left. It is made in a Gunmetal color with multi color bead drops. It is PERFECT with each color paisley…plus it looks great with the BYZANTINE necklaces for a special summery bohemian look….they will work with many many of the things you own, and  if you haven’t noticed, I have been showing them for YEARS!!!

I could go on and on about how and with what you can combine these pieces with, but I think YOU should have the fun of exploring and discovering all of the different things you already own that will work.

Jac and I want to wish you and your families a wonderful 4th of July…..it’s the ONLY day during the year that Jac actually allows me to eat HOT DOGS!!!!!!I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!much Love, Louis

Hi Louis, how does the lt. olive color compare to the sage color. Wondering if the sage georgette shirt/tank will blend with the lt. olive skirt? Thanks

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The light olive faux herringbone linen and crew neck sweater is slightly yellower than the sage cotton which has gray in it. The sage safari georgette shirt and tank is also a little yellower than the sage cotton….it looks fantastic with the lt. olive herringbone pant. All said I think all of them can work together….it all doesn’t have to be a direct match anymore.

      1. Sherry

Fantastic, I’ve already fallen in love with the lt. olive herringbone pieces, and the crew neck sweater in lt. olive has already shipped. Thanks so much for your time.

    Hi Louis,

I can’t wait to get this top – the problem is what color do I choose???

    Hugs to you & Jac,
    Dariann

Louis Dell Olio … you are single-handedly going to break me of my “all black, all the time” habit! These are gorgeous! I’ll be snatching up the chili pepper top to wear with skinny jeans and the olive skirt to wear now, but especially with boots in the fall.

I already ordered the pale olive top … and the taupe boho (which I’m dying to wear with a black tank top and espadrilles now, and a black cashmere sweater and boots if it ever does get cooler.)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Love the chili pepper. You will be so chic in your black and taupe!

      1. Sherry

I’m loving the black tops with the taupe boho…

    Dear Louis,

Thought about you yesterday, going over the Tappan Zee, on our way to the lake way over in eastern CT … and what a great treat this sneak peek is tonight! It’s going to be Pale Olive for me, and Chili Pepper in everything, especially as we made our reservations for Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico today. Driving the vintage travel trailer out and staying 4 weeks; I could wear these clothes every day; that skirt is going dancing!

Glad you enjoyed your hot dogs; some day when we get our much requested live show, Walter will bring you hot dogs from his favorite PA butcher, made by hand, the old way … And some salad too, Jac 🙂

Happy 4th of July, Cathy out of PA and in CT

  5. Judi

What a treat you provided! This has been a grueling week. We were without power from last Friday until a few hours ago. It’s fabulous to be home, look forward to sleeping in my own bed and eat my own food (we were fortunate enough to get a scarce hotel room). I already ordered the CP boho and the pale olive top. I will eagerly await the new skirt, scarf print top (the print is beautiful!) and the herringbone items.
BTW, I had my hotdog at a local NY style deli yesterday. I rarely indulge, but July 4th is the perfect time. I’m a purist also, only mustard as a condiment.
Stay cool, regards to Jac and the girls.

HI, Louis! Hope that you and Jac enjoyed the celebrations and you your hot dogs! Which if any of your magentas, cassis, aubergine, and the like work with the pale olive skirt? I have many of those tones and could wear the pale olive skirt that way. Thanks so much! Barbara

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Barbara. I will have to investigate and get back to you.

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Out of all the colors mentioned the Cassis is the best “match ” to the color in the print. The magenta really doesn’t work to the print and even though there is no Aubergine in the print, I do think it works. I like those colors together. Do you have the pomegranate tank from a few seasons back? It also works perfectly with the skirt. It is actually very close to the Chili Pepper and I will be showing them together. I would think the Chili Pepper would be good color for you.

      1. Barbara in Virginia

Thanks so much, Louis! I have plenty of Cassis as well as Aubergine, so it will be the Pale Olive for me. Love this skirt!!! No, I don’t have the Pomegranate tank and have to be very careful with any red that is not either a clear and true or blue red. My skin turns sallow! But red is my favorite color :-).

Thank you for taking the time to give us sneak peaks. It really helps with the planning/budgeting factor, and I never tire of looking at beautiful things, and your clothes are art work. I love the way you mixes the chili pepper/purple and turquoise in the scarf print.

I hope you enjoyed your annual hot dog splurge. What do you like on them?

I love the light olive print skirt, and would like to wear it with my Linea olive and burgundy and upcoming light olive pieces, but I was hoping it was knee length. I know QVC thinks we should all dress like missionaries (I keep thinking of the ones that got eaten by the natives in Hawaii. Anyway…)

Is there any good to have a tailor make this into a knee length skirt? Obviously, one can’t take anything from the bottom without disturbing the scarf print, but I don’t know how one would take something from the top with the ruffle. I had knee length skirt styled like this in a navy and white batik silk, silk lined, too, when I worked in NYC (one of yours, perhaps?) but I haven’t been that tiny size in a while! I would love to wear the same style again, even in my more “comfortable” size.

I can’t wait to see the new colors of the whisper knits in the fall. Any chance there is a straw in our future in addition to light olive? I was going on a clothing diet, but for those colors, I’d buy two each. Too bad about that tanks…again, QVC deciding we should all dress like nuns or missionaries (who may well wear tanks UNDER their other garments, QVC!)

    Thanks, as always, Louis.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I loved my HOT DOGS and ate them very slowly savoring each bite. I like them plain on a toasted roll with some mustard….ummmm I could go for a few right now, but tonight I have been told, is salad night…OH BOY!
I am afraid this is not an easy skirt to shorten without cutting into the border. Honestly, the length has nothing to do with QVC. I decide those things. It was a matter of proportion between the border and the placement of the paisleys and then the length of the ruffle. The print also had to work for the proportion of the top and the skirt, so this was the best length, and I think it looks good with the jackets….and later on with boots.
There isn’t a straw color coming soon but I did have a straw tank in the recent past. I also did a color called “pomegranate”in a tank that work great with the chili pepper. Your nun reference is very funny, but it’s not the QVC buyers who are the nuns, trust me! If a tank or V-neck gets below a certain measurement….the lower the V or tank….the higher the returns. I have never heard so many women complain about cleavage! I just got home from NYC and it was 95 degrees and let me tell you, there was plenty of cleavage. However….”we” decided that instead of the usual scoop neck tank….for the new essentials we would do a V-neck……but don’t expect it to be plunging!LOL
      …………regards, Louis

Thanks for appreciating my sense of humor, Louis. That’s how I eat my hot dogs, too, by the way. I guess I’m a “purist.”

Thanks for the styling info. I am so excited that there will be new, V-neck tanks!!! That’s a flattering cut for me. For some reason, I didn’t think there would be any new whisper knit tanks in the same colors as the cardis. I’m a happy “girl!”

I already ordered the peacock and light olive crew neck. I guess they are two of the new colors. I need a dresser for whisper knits! I also ordered all the colors in the Kate shirt Thank you!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

They are indeed the new colors, but they are the cotton blends not whisper knits. However, with the new selection of whisper knits in all the new colors, I’m afraid you will need a new dresser.

  8. TourEiffel

    Hi Louis —

Hope you enjoyed your 4th of July hot dogs!

These are gorgeous pieces! So unique, so designer. Thank you for your thorough descriptions. Very much appreciated. When is your next show?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

7/16…appearances on the Morning Show with Pat and Jane and 7/16..PM Style.
      Then 7/31 4am and 4pm

      1. TourEiffel

        Many thanks. Looking forward!

  9. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

    Hi Louis!
I hope you had an enjoyable 4th! I am loving the new sneak peeks. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.
I have a tough question – a color question. I know these are hard, but here goes. Is the chili pepper color an orange-red? I would assume it would be, but in the above sneak peek, the color is looking more like a neutral red. How does it compare to the red of our spring blazer?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Susan,
Yes it is very difficult to describe colors, but I will try again. The chili pepper is NOTHING like the red blazer, which I call a true red. The blazer is a brighter red. I would not call the CP an orange red. It has a lot of brown in it which gives the color a very earthy ethnic look. I am sure there are spices this color It is much deeper than the red blazer. In the photos the color in the small picture of the top0 with the espresso pant is most accurate. I’m sure you can wear this color. There will be more sneak peeks, the shirt jacket and the boho skirt, where you will see more of the CP. It really is a beautiful rich color.

  10. Kate

Oh, that scarf top is just too lovely-both colors. Will be wearing it with white jeans now (maybe a swimsuit cover up too?)and then with leggings and boots this fall (or over you famed all-needle rib knit pencil skirt with mile high heels). Don’t laugh (yes, there is a pattern here) but I think I will buy a second one and have an actual scarf made to go with the herringbone pieces.

  11. Carol

Beautiful. This seals the deal for me on the light olive in the herringbone. I thought I might be able to pass on that jacket and just get the pants, but now, I see I’m going to need it. Foiled again!

What do you think of the straw faux de chine safari shirt/jacket with this skirt?

The sneak peeks just get better and better!

    crdlb

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
I no longer have the sample in straw, so I can’t answer that one, but I would think it would be fine with the pale olive or the chili pepper. I don’t know if the two straw colors are the same.

  12. Sherry

Now that’s some attitude…love the print, and the colors are fabulous. Hope you, Jac, and the girls have enjoyed the 4th celebrations. See you at the next sneak peak.

  13. Victoria

OMG!….too much gorgeous for the eyes…beautiful clothes make the heart stop. I will be there or be square on July 31…even though I am traveling!

Thank you dear Louis and Jac…the genius and his muse …the color palette is divine!

  14. Elena

Kaboom! You just lit up my Fourth of July! After being in Rome this past May, I’m heading back to the Eternal City in the fall for a family reunion and I definitely see some pieces that will be going with me. You’re the best, Louis!!

  15. ShopperV/Venessa

Outstanding prints, Louis! I was determined to sit out the July show…but, I must have the skirt and jacket/shirt in Chili Pepper!!! Love it! Also, thank you for doing the earrings in gunmetal! I wear white gold/silver jewelry so these will be perfect!!! Have a wonderful 4th of July….you, Jac and the girls!!!!!

  16. Chris/Jazzmom

    Hi Louis and Jac,

What a stunning display of “fireworks” from your workshop, Louis!

I’m excited to see these pieces..the print in all three colors is just so beautiful.
I will once again, be tossing a coin to make a choice .. or else buying all three colors and loving them all.

Thanks for the sneak peek and enjoy your 4th of July!

  18. Rae

Oh my! We don’t have to wait until dark to see fireworks – they are right here in this sneak peek! So many beautiful choices you have given us. Have a wonderful 4th and ENJOY those hot dogs!
