“THE BLACK MULTI WINTER FLORAL”

boxes1

……………………..This Winter Floral looks like a dreamy watercolor painting……an IMPRESSIONIST painting. The delicacy of one color flowing into and overlaying the other, inventing even more colors,  takes true craftsmen creating the many screens that are necessary to achieve this translucent, IMHO, astounding print. It takes a certain appreciation to realize, as when you look at a beautiful painting, that this isn’t just a blouse….it’s a piece of art. You will only come to truly understand this when you have this garment in your hands so you can examine and see the detail…I call this a blouse, and not a shirt, because it’s softly tailored…..there is nothing crisp about it….which makes it very feminine……..I know there will be some who will immediately say “this is pretty but it’s not for me, I’m not a print person”. I understand. It is sometimes hard to leave that comfort zone, and take a chance on something that you would never have seen yourself wearing. Many times those are exactly the clothes that give you the MOST PLEASURE, because they make you FEEL different…….I know that there were many who looked at the faceted glass bead necklace in the same way when they first saw it……”no it’s too much color for me, not my style”, but then you gave the necklace a second look, and took a chance. When you got it home you saw that it wasn’t just a glass bead necklace. Each bead has its’ own brilliance, and combining all of them together created something truly remarkable. When I chose the colors for each combination of the print I knew I wanted to create a necklace that wouldn’t only coordinate with the blouse, but the two together would “sing” a beautiful harmony. I chose the colors of the beads to work with each of the blouse colors. There is a symbiosis between the two, but they each have there own beauty and can live happily without the other…….The fabric of the blouse is a new light faux de Chine with stretch that I chose specifically for this print. It has a slight sheen which is very complimentary to the colors…….The blouse is classic in design with a stand shirt collar, long sleeves with button cuffs, and side slits. The xs has a 28 inch length…….In the photos above I have shown the blouse with a simple black pant, but you can be as whimsical as you want. I can easily see this blouse with a tiered crushed velvet peasant skirt that I did years ago [I think it came in black and fuchsia], and I hope some of you still have! Add a fabulous belt, maybe jeweled or embroidered. Some fabulous boots, or a color tight and suede shoe boot in another wonderful color………Add a colorful shawl and you are ready for a Mozart concert in Vienna!!! This is the garment to have fun with, and there are so many ways to wear it. Perhaps you already have my long WK open front cardigan in black with my WK black pencil skirt…….wear it with black tights and some fabulous foot wear. For the more daring try the same outfit with my now vintage lace tights! Fabulous!!…..Next spring/summer wear it open as a shirt jacket, sleeves rolled with a black tank and white jeans [coming this spring 2018]. Make your clothes work for you no matter the season, and PLEASE….PLAY……….. The style number of this little beauty is A295911…………………………….enjoy……………………………..much Love………………………..Louis

Oh, how I would love to attend right now a Mozart concert in Vienna about now! Or his lively opera “Abduction from the Seraglio” which we saw there a while back. What a delightful performance! My luck is with me as I still have BOTH of the velvet boho skirts as well as a very nice Victor Costa vest trimmed in embroidered ribbon I used to wear with them.

Enjoy, Louis! This became one of Ray and my all-time favorite operas. It was Mozart’s first, and with the money he made from it, he married his Constanza immediately despite objections from both families. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw84smtNE1Q

Jac and I went to a Mozart concert in the Cathedral, but it was so hot I could barely concentrate! Of course you know that comment was for you.

I caught it, Louis LOL! I’m looking for a YouTube video of the Sala Terrena in Vienna, another of our favorite haunts. Wonderful Mozart string quartet performances there in a tiny, intimate setting, half underground. They usually also play some Hayden and some Schubert. Seats about 50 or so. The restoration of the frescos there are magnificent, and they didn’t know they were there until the restoration! Wish you and Jac could have taken that in. OK here is a short clip. Forget the days you were there, but they play only Thurs-Sunday. Off the beaten track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt1WgQ1mQ8k

A few years ago you made a Safari jacket with a belt in I believe 3 colors in a silk like fabric
Any chance that will come back. I love mine but am now a size small and my jacket is an XL.

Would love to have a new one

    Thank you

Louis, will more of the matching necklaces be available this year? I ask because qvc is still accepting waitlist orders for all three color variations.

        OH NO!

Say it isn’t so, Louis. If I do not receive at least the Bright (I fortunately have the Alabaster), I will be so disappointed.

It is almost impossible to resist Linea color temptations since Louis is “The Fellini of Designers.” I wrote that years ago and I stand by that description. Fantastical and glorious colors that we only dreamed of or saw on MGM movie sets (or see only here) are the product of Louis’s rich imagination and early training with his giant Crayola box (written only slightly in jest). Of course I am certain the Parson School of Design refined his natural talents.

    This man’s colors slay me!

19 MARCH 2014 FEATURES, FILM LISTS BY GAVIN MILLER

      “Amarcord” by Federico Fellini

      Amarcord

Amarcord is pure cinematic nostalgia; no surprise that the title translates to “to remember”. Federico Fellini’s warm recounting of the coastal Italian town that he grew up in is absurd, kind of sad, and evokes nostalgia so strongly that it may as well be a trip into Fellini’s mind. Amarcord is one of Il Maestro’s most personal and emotionally resonant pieces, as well as one of his most colorful and vivid, with the carnivalesque palette and colors ranging across the spectrum.

As an extra bonus, the film takes place over the course of all four seasons, which adds to the visual and color diversity. Spend two hours in Fellini’s childhood hometown, and it will make sense why he turned out such a brilliant artist.

Goldie, Amarcord is one of my favorite Fellini movies. It also has some very amusing scenes as I remember. 🙂

Barbara, “Amarcord” and “La Dolce Vita” (in black and white) are at the top of my Fellini faves, with the former having a special place in my heart for personal reasons. You remember “Amarcord” well. There were amusing scenes involving his early fascination with, ahem, the wiles of easy women and the circus, which informed so much of his work. The spectacle of life. The panoply of humanity. His fantastic visions and colors. The guy was a master! I miss his work. “Juliet of the Spirits” also allowed him to highlight a parade of eccentric folks while focusing on his troubled marriage to Giulietta Masina, who was, as you probably know, his wife in real life. He understood the woes of our modern life that had lost meaning, faith and traditions, the anchors for previous generations. His use of color in “Juliet” was thrilling, too.

Yes, I said I’m not into color but yes, I bought all three options of the beads. I like this winter floral dark version. Sigh.

  6. Beryl

I’m not a print person but this one has my name on it.
