“OCTOBER SNEAK PEEK # 1”

LET THE GAMES BEGIN! A new month is coming….but Fall is OFFICIALLY here! I thought I would start the Oct. Sneak Peeks with something very RARE for Linea…..a COAT!………..However, this is not just any coat…. this is a VERY SPECIAL  coat in a very SPECIAL FABRIC. If I was going to do only one coat for the season…it had to be spectacular!  Since many of you have already previewed it in the  QVC magazine, I thought all of you should have the same opportunity to see it and not just read  about it. Actually, I was a little surprised that the buyers were willing to buy it, but they fell in love. The style # is…..A229477………..it is 50% WOOL and 50% polyester. It is approx 38-39 inches long for the XS. The colors are…..BLACK…..and………ROSE QUARTZ……..the most beautiful winter pastel [more about this later]. It is fully lined in a luxurious satin. The silhouette is some what retro and yet extremely MODERN. The fit is through the rib cage and then gently goes out to a very slight A-Line. The FAUX FLAPS are placed to accentuate the high fit, but the actual pockets are hidden in the seams below the flaps. There are six DYED TO MATCH BUTTONS down the front that will protect you from the winter winds. This is not just a pretty coat….it’s very functional! I call this a “DRESS COAT”. This is not the kind of coat you wear over blazers or chunky sweaters, thought you can wear it any way you want….I won’t know…LOL…..For me this is a coat you wear over a wonderful dress or a terrific new WHISPER KNIT sweater set and pencil skirt, or just a great LINEA CASHMERE BLEND TURTLENECK and the WK pant. Wear it for a casual Sunday brunch with the WAIST WHITTLING sweater and some great black jeans, a pair of great black boots, a wonderful black leather tote and great big black sunglasses….to chic for words. The FABRIC of this coat is what makes ALL the DIFFERENCE. As you can see in the photos it is a nubby, looped fabric that has a brushed look…..and the look is EUROPEAN ALL THE WAY!!! This is a coat you would expect to see on the runways of Armani, Ferragamo, Bottega Venetta, or Jill Sander. When Jac first saw it her eyes opened wide and immediately tried the Black XS coat on. It fits like a GLOVE! Now the COLORS….of course the BLACK is GORGEOUS!!!!!!……However…..the ROSE QUARTZ is the best kept secret of the Fall/Winter season. It is a COOL GRAYED PINK which , for me, is strictly a WINTER COLOR.  If you have ever been in a store where they sell huge chunks of different minerals and rocks of semi precious stones……….that look like they have just been dug up from the center of the Earth…..then you know what this color looks like. Look through your “INSTYLE” magazine and all of a sudden you will see a celeb wearing the most beautiful Rose Quartz short coat…..which just happens, at first glance, to look a lot like mine! Now look through your newest “VOGUE”….and guess what….a beautiful PINK COAT!…….So, as you look through your closet and decide if you need a new black coat……. THIS IS THE ONE…..I will say…. that this is not totally about NEED….it is definitely more about DESIRE……..If you looked at the ROSE QUARTZ  coat and you sigh and your heart melts a little….it should be YOURS ……and you deserve it…..!!WHEN are you going to ever see another coat  like this????? …….and you know it will never be reordered…..treat yourself to something FABULOUS……..and IT is!……Enjoy, much Love…..Louis

Louis, I’m wondering if the sleeves can be taken up easily on this coat? I’m petite, and it looks like I’d have to shorten the sleeves about 1 1/2-2 inches (according to the measurements). Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes…..there are no buttons to worry about….an easy fix.

  2. Sybil

I love this coat. I’m not a pink girl, however, it really does give gray and black a different look. I think I can handle a sophisticated shade of pink. Black is classic. I need both. Love the look of that fabric from just the photo.

Louis, your coat is beautiful as are all of your products. I am wondering whether it is possible to do a long full length coat. I am very tall and its very cold here in Chicago. I would like a coat with a mandarin collar, fitted at the waist with a slight flair falling from the waistline.
Again, thank you for the lovely garments. I wear them almost excusively and love each and everyone.

    Dear Louis,

I can’t tell you how much I love these coats; I’ce been looking for a new black coat forever … nearly impossible to find in a plus size … THANK YOU. MIght need the pink one too, and how could I resist the mix and match opportunities of my favorite HTC, and in VIOLET ?!? Love it!

Saw a lot of the Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly and other wonders this past week … not a lot of “dressing up”, but when we did do fine dining at the historic El Tovar lodge on the south rim, my Chili Pepper cascade skirt, Chili Pepper shirt jacket and a bunch of turquoise and spiny oyster jewelry in reds and purples was perfect … yes, Walter added a few new pieces to my collection, along with the most wonderful Navajo wall weaving … Now that we’re back in Albuquerque, there will be music, dancing, dining with friends, Balloon Fiesta, lots of Linea worn AND new pieces to order ON my birthday, yippee! Thanks again; please tell Jac I can’t wait to see her and the other girls in the new pieces. Cathy in … New Mexico 🙂

That Walter is some guy…..you’re a lucky woman and I’m sure he’s a lucky man! So glad your chili peppers worked so well for you>

Will A3850, Plush Ribbed Zip Jacket, in purple go with the violet houndstooth?
    Thanks!
    Connie

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Connie……I no longer have that sample so I can not give you an answer. I know it would look great with the black/ivory HTC skirt and a black WK sweater under the jacket. Sorry I can’t be more help. By the way….I love that jacket!

  6. farmerwife

Thank you so much. When I went to check it is indeed unavailable in my XS size. So glad to know there will be other sweaters coming in that color.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No fear….you will be well taken care of…..Just don’t wait to long to order when they are avail!

Just wondered if the grape colored whisper knit is the sweater you are showing with the purple houndstooth. I’d like to order that sweater if it is the one that matches the new suit. Thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes….that is the waist whittling ballet neck WK sweater from the last show. I do want you to know that in Nov. [sometime?], there will be more Violet WK sweaters that will go with the Violet HTC also. Nothing like the one in the photo, but there will be other options just in case the grape is sold out in your size.

Oh, my! What a delightful surprise to check your website and find an October preview. It must be so much fun to see your designs come to life. I just figured out how to enlarge the photo! Love the details of the pink coat, and I’m really looking forward to wearing the Houndstooth skirt and matching scarf. At least there’s a few perks for living in a cold state. Fall and winter clothes!!!

I don’t get the Insider either. So I appreciate the preview! Thank you.

  9. LauraL

Love the jacket. Rose quartz for me. I love winter pastels with my coloring. The only tricky part will be sizing. I have a fairly curvy figure so I’m not sure when you say slight A-line whether I should go to the larger of my two sizes or not. I don’t want the jacket to be oversized. I will look at the “Click Here” measurements very closely.

Thank you for the sneak peak. I don’t get the Q Insider so was very jealous that I hadn’t gotten to see the jacket.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear LauraL……You keep referring to this as a jacket, but I want to be real clear….this is an honest to goodness coat. This is outerwear only. I don’t want to advise you on size since I have no idea what you look like…..definitely go by the click hear measurements. It also depends on how you want to wear it and what the climate is where you live. With all that said I would still advise MOST women to stay with there normal size.

      1. LauraL

        Hi

Yes I realize it is a coat but thank you for making sure I did. I am very happy it is a coat. I live in New England and I guess I am using slang. To me jacket and coat are the same and a blazer is different.

I tend to wear this kind of coat as you were suggesting over a dress or sweater and skirt. I will check the measurements carefully and just hope that they give both the chest and hip measurements and especially the X-back measurements and then I will be good to go. I very rarely return due to sizing issues once I had your style of clothes calibrated.

        Thanks again

        Laura

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

I think you can see from the bottom right picture how thick the fabric is, so I really don’t think it’s bulky. I am sure you will make the right decision when you get the click hear measurements.

  10. Carol

I so wish I needed a coat, but since I live is So Cal, I cannot justify it. I am going to all over that violet houndstooth, though. Can you tell me if it works with the purple suede asymmetrical zip jacket? I think that would be a really cool look.

    Love what you do!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
I checked to see if the Purple suede jacket worked with the Violet/Black HTC skirt……they do not. The colors are off. However, the PSJ looks terrific with the Black and Ivory HTC skirt if you want to go that way…..a black WK sweater under it, of which there will be many…perfect foe Southern CA,and it will look great!

      1. Carol

Guess that means I’m going to have to get both!

I do have the black suede jacket with the knit sleeves and the new black leather jacket, too, which will go with both colorways.

        Thanks so much!

The Rose Quartz is calling my name. It is so lovely, can see it at the theatre and on New Years Eve!

  12. Kate

Both, I must have both colors. I happened to see the story in InStyle and immediately thought that once again, LDO is right on trend. What color scarf and gloves do you see with the Pink Quartz coat? Brown? Black? Ivory?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

All the colors you mentioned plus more….grey, navy, and perhaps some colors would look good too…smokey lilac, a grayed aqua….it takes some experimenting.

  13. Sharon Santourian-Holman

This textured wool poly blend is just delightful!! Thanks for the preview.

  14. lois patrick

Love this coat. Will purchase both colors. One question–do we need to go up a size due to the fabrication? Is the fabric at all bulky? Leaving for Spain the day of your show and returning on the day of your next show. Hope I can get all my orders in. Thanks for working so hard for us.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I don’t think “bulky” is the word I would use. It certainly is a textured fabric and has thickness, but I wouldn’t call it bulky. I certainly would not go up a size and you certainly shouldn’t wear anything “thick” under it. I have read many comments that women have ordered up a size on different items and afterwards wished they had ordered their normal size. I think that is the case for this coat. If you order your size it will look slender due to the shape…not the fabric.

  15. CGee

Beautiful coat! I’m assuming it’s great with the Perfectly Pinks, too?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Not really! This is much more blue and cool….the PP is more warm compared to this color.
