Canceled Show

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give all of you a heads up…….my Oct. 30th 4am show has been canceled. This is a good thing!!! There isn’t enough inventory to justify a two hour show, even at 4am! Jac and I couldn’t be happier!! I will be seeing you on Nov.16th at 6am, Nov. 17th at 8am and Nov.19th at 7pm with some wonderful Holiday goodies. My next full show will be sometime in Dec. with lots of new, new, new! Don’t have the date or time yet.

Why oh why, doesn’t QVC give you a larger inventory? You sell out so quickly. I wanted a pair of your new black pants and WK turtleneck. Speaking of the turtleneck, I would love to see a soft yellow. I bought two of the sweaters with velvet and had to give them to my daughters early, because they are so beautiful. They can wear them now for holiday activities. I also purchased a topaz jacket and I have my new jacket from last month. My entire wardrobe, it seems is Louis Dell’Olio. Thank you for the quality of your garments. They really are the best from QVC .

Good news for you and Jac– you won’t be traveling during potential hurricane on the East Coast– Remember the Hurricane Irene show, when so many of your Linea Ladies’ couldn’t order or watch since we had no power, no cable TV, no Internet access? And you had to drive home in the aftermath of that storm! The forecasts are still uncertain, but it appears we’ll get hit hard in my Chesapeake Bay area and your Conn. area. Batten down the hatches– and the doggies!–Blinddogs

I remember Irene only too well! Since my house is only 100 to 150 feet from the water we are always a little nervous when these kind of storms come in. It’s the North-easters that hit us really badly and Sandy is supposed to be a combination of both…..like the “Perfect Storm”. We have already moved all of the flying objects inside, the flag will come down over the weekend and the cars will be put in the garage. We put in a big generator this summer so I’m not too worried about loosing the power. The forecast for the south facing shore, which is me, is not looking good.
Can you imagine we were supposed to drive to PA on MONDAY!!!Our luck must be changing, out planets must be aligning, and the gods must be looking down kindly on us to have canceled an overnight….which….if I remember correctly was the same show time as Irene!
Take good care of yourself and your family!!!!!

We’re right on the Bay–waterfront, too– but the house sits on a small bluff above the water. But the bulkhead, stairs, pier and small boat/guest house right on the waterfront get hammered in a storm. We don’t have a generator and a neighbor who lets us ‘borrow’ some power from his will be out of town.
If it looks too bad, we may pack up the doggies and evacute. STAY SAFE!—blinddogs

Louis….. I received the jackets in Topaz and Teal. They are wonderful and a great fit. I do however, since I have made many tailored jackets in my lifetime, notice the differences that two jackets can have with different people putting them together. My topaz jacket is 1/2 inch broader in the shoulder than my Teal jacket. I will keep and can wear both. The HTC jacket in purple/black has something wrong with the lining which I will release and fix…… It hikes way up on one side when you put the jacket on. I am happy that I can do these things for myself. I like the way linings used to be put in, but I can understand that it is a lot more labor intensive……… and expensive to do. I do think the TOPAZ jacket is the most divine color and I had purchased boots and handbag in that color this year, so I am in heaven…… It is my favorite of the three, but all are staying here with me…

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear DeLois…..since you know how to sew and tailor you know all to well it all depends on the sewer to keep the jacket within the pattern measurements. The garments are cut by computer, so all jackets are cut exactly as the pattern programed into it. When the sewers get their hands on it….that’s when calamity happens.Just by over or under pressing the shoulder seam they can stretch or shrink it 1/2 inch……depending on the fabric….we even tape the shoulders on many fabrics to avoid this problem…..not all manufacturers at this level take that extra step. Also, when they sew the seams and darts…..if they don’t “feed” the material into the needle correctly, they can stretch it out or hold it in. I always feel the fact that the garments come out as well as they do is a miracle…LOL….but this can happen on garments made in Italy too at 10 times the price. It really depends on each person sewing each garment. I really am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you…..these things shouldn’t happen. I wish there was more I could do because I want every garment to come to all of you perfectly. Unfortunately, it is impossible to police every operator.

      1. DeLois

Louis, I did not mean for it to sound like a complaint as I know that these things happen. I can easily fix the problem and I think your quality for the price to top rate. When I buy jeans I nearly always check on all of them in my size as they can be different and all be labeled the same, and it is so true that we cannot or will never all sew the same. I love the mix he old with the new and discovered that I have purple suede and black patent heel and a purple suede belt with black patent polka dots on it to go with the purple/black HTC. I can hardly wait to put it together with black top and skirt or pants……. so much fun

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear DeLois….please believe me when I say….I did not take what you said as a complaint or criticism in any way. I want to hear when things aren’t correct so I can pass that along to my manufacturer. Unfortunately, these kinds of mistakes will always happen because it is a individual’s mistake and there is very little we can do about it. However, when I hear from many of you that something is wrong or doesn’t fit properly than that is something I can do something about in the future……so it is important for me to hear the good, the bad and the ugly………best regards, Louis

I rarely get to watch your afternoon shows so while its a horror for you, I kinda like those early AM events! I will content myself the new faux fur jacket and sequins on sale November 5th, and watch this page like a hawk for the new whisper knit online-only grouping. Oh, I’m wearing the new black/violet HTC shirt and Etro-inspired sweater to work today–thanks for showing this combo during your recent show. Totally chic!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      You like those 4am shows!!!???? You’re weird!!LOL

      1. Kate

I’ve been called worse! Hey, my coat arrived (pink) and it is just so lovely. I’ve tried a variety of scarves and other accessories and what seems to work best is pale gray, winter white, and (wait for it)…faux fur. Something about the texture of the fabric with a dimensional scarf like faux fur, is a winning combination. I will be curious to hear how other accessorize this stunner of a coat.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’m sure a ranch mink or sable scarf would look beautiful!!!!

          1. Barbara in Virginia

I have a very nice faux chinchilla beret and scarf that look terrific with the black coat. Also a black bowler with real gray Persian lamb brim that is also great. I’ll add gray gloves to that mix. I agree with Kate that the furry additions create quite a luxe look!

    But Louis,
Explain it to me, please. I thought the second October show was to be a recap of items already aired in the first October show, right? So that clients would have a second chance to purchase things already shown. Is this wrong?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

These overnight shows are basically inventory shows. Nothing new is ever in these shows. Since my fall shows have done so well, there was no need to do a two hour show. This show was planned months in advance with the assumption that there would be more inventory than there is. I guess they need the 2 hours for those with more inventory…..it’s a good thing.

      1. Cela

Okay, my friend, if you think leaving lots of clients without purchases of Linea is “A GOOD THING” then it’s a good thing. At least you won’t have to get up at the crack of dawn. Maybe that’s the good thing. 😀 Ciao.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Morning Cela…….it’s a “good thing” I don’t have to get up at 3am to be at the studio at 4:30. Everything we would have shown is already on line. I have noticed that things that were gone are back in certain sizes, so for those who missed out this would be a good time to take a look…..I won’t deprive you for long. I will start my Nov. Sneak Peeks this weekend.

          1. Cela

Did I sound snappy, because I didn’t mean to. I love everything about LINEA, and I think you’re a genius. It helps having cheerleaders on your team doesn’t it? I see the station necklace is up, the match to the fleur de lis cross, I will busy myself deciding which one to get.
            Ciao.

  6. Sharon Santourian-Holman

Awwww, congratulations!:) I was at work, but everything is gone! LOL. Louis, you are getting more and more new clients . I know we are all thrilled. Keep them coming.

  7. Carol

Sorry to hear we won’t be able to see all the great combos you would have put together for the show. I love the overnight show because I usually own most of what is being sold and I see new ideas about how to combine them.

I’ll be watching in Nov. I’m so going to get that violet sequin dress! Would you say this dress fits like the Roma Ponte LBD? Maybe Jac has that dress in her closet and can let us know if she wears the same size in both. I love that dress, and I think it does run slightly on the large side.

    Thanks, Louis and Jac!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I think this dress fits smaller than the ponte. I would go closer to your B&M size.

      1. Carol

        Thanks, Louis.
