“THE EGYPTIAN PENDANT & EARRING SET”

……………………………I have always loved everything that had to do with Ancient Egypt. It was a destination Jac and I had always planned to go to, but sadly never made it…..When ever I can, in what ever country I may be, I try to go to the Museums of Natural History to see what they have from ancient Egypt……..The tombs, the artifacts the clothing the sarcophagi, and the JEWELRY has always inspired me. We all know the look of the “Cleopatra Necklace”, Nefertiti, and the famous sarcophagus of King Tutankhamun. The artisans were masters at manipulating stones like turquoise, amber, onyx, mother of pearl and then combining them with GOLD………………I love the look of hieroglyphics and Egyptian symbols…..One of the Egyptian symbols that has inspired many jewelry designers is the Ankh. It symbolizes eternal life, the morning sun, the male and female principles….the heave and the earth. That’s a lot of meaning for one symbol…LOL. I have used the Ankh as a starting point for my new pendant. It is not a literal translation of the symbol, but just the mood……………………With this pendant I am also introducing a new finish. It is called…………. VERDIGRIS………..This is not the GREEN PATINA or the AZURE PATINA……….Even thought they are similar in that there is a green color, and that each piece will vary due to the process…..the VERDIGRIS is more green then the rest. There is a similarity in the plating process, but they all feel different in the hand. The Verdigris has a more RAW FEEL, and has the closest look to ancient pieces. The companion earring is made of the same parts as the pendant and all linked together with small rings. The SNAKE chain also has the Verdigris plating…….I think you will love this new color……..This will be the only piece I have done in the Verdigris plating, but it can easily mix with your Green Patina Etruscan bead necklace and bead bracelet……………..Honestly, I don’t think this piece will last long………………………………enjoy……………………………much Love………………………………………………Louis

    Louis-
I purchased 4 of your necklaces last year and am calling them:
-my Old World collection (the Maltese cross and the Harp)
-my New World collection (the Inca and the Yosemite)
I suppose now I must start an Ancienne collection!

Louis I am an art major. Your jewelry just speaks to me. I especially love this necklace in every finish. I already own 3 of your necklaces and will be going back for more. Please keep them coming. Thanks!

What a special compliment. Louis, those with heightened and refined sensitivities respond positively to your work.

Jen’s compliment to you charmed me.

Wow! Need this Verdigris and maybe another. Each of them has a special look, but with all your lace and solid pieces, and the gorgeous embrpidered tops…I have to stick to two.

Can you do me a favor and not come out with anything else for say…..several months? Let my bank account recover. 😊

We are so lucky to have you as our designer. 💜

Dear Melissa……I’m sorry if it’s getting a little over whelming! I do understand. I want to develop the jewelry line into a true separate business, so each month there are new offerings to keep a consistent flow. It’s a fun but not an easy task of offering such a variety of goodies each month……Would you really like me to stop?!

      1. Melissa W

Nooo! Of course, I don’t want you to stop. Just slow down a little. LOL. Truth be told, I had to take my three dogs to the vet Monday for varying issues. Ouch. And one may need surgery. So I’m feeling a little broke. My problem, not yours.

I actually think it’d be really neat for you to have a jewelry line as a separate business. Truth be told, I never bought much “fashion” jewelry before you. I’d see it in the stores and be either underwhelmed or overwhelmed, if that makes any sense. But your designs are just spectacular! So artistic and thoughtfully done and unique. Take a plain top and add this necklace, and wow! It makes the outfit. My main issue for many of your pieces is that I want all the colors/finishes!

I have to say I am especially loving my copper tassel necklace. Hard not to get that in every color too!

Anyway, it was fun seeing you throughout the day Monday. Looking forward to your upcoming shows!

Melissa, so sorry to hear about your doggies. I see my Lily slowing up, and it saddens me. She and Sammy are just 8 months apart and Sammy still acts like a puppy. I’m seriously thinking about another, but they are so much work, and I’m terrible with training them! The jewelry line will never be an actual separate line because it is bought by the same buyer….that’s the way it works at the Q

Dogs are a lot of work, but they are so worth it! I didn’t have dogs growing up, I started adopting, fostering and volunteering for the cocker rescue a few years ago. Wow how my life has changed! I hate to sound trite, but even though I rescued them, I feel like they rescued me. They bring so much joy and unconditional love to my life and have given me a new purpose.

I don’t mean to hijack your post about this gorgeous necklace, but I will add that I stalk your blog for sneak peeks of your upcoming items, but also look forward to your more personal posts and stories. Would love to see more pics of Lily and Sammy! 💜

Dear Melissa….I know only too well how my babies have saved me many times over this passed year and exactly 3 months today. They are my comfort, and company, and they make me laugh….not so much when they pee pee in the house, but that’s our fault.

Aww Louis. I’m glad your girls have brought you such comfort. 💜💜💜

The design you created make this Ankh a beautiful work of art. I love the Verdigris finish. Is this similar to the green patina finish on the fish? I’m sure you remember the poor fish that didn’t come out well, was re-ordered and was well received. I was lucky enough to get one, is this verdigris similar?
    Thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judi, yes they are similar, but the Verdigris is greener, and sometimes more turquoise. The Green Patine can come out very dark and blackened. There really is no control doing these finishes so no two will ever be the same.

      1. Judi

I understand. And thanks for your prompt reply.
I read where you say you are developing the jewelry line into its’ own separate business! How exciting, this line rivals top jewelry designers in creativity, design and quality. I wear the pieces proudly!

So crazy about this finish…It’s not just the look but the incredible need to touch…impatiently waiting for delivery.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear designista…..don’t be surprised by the feel of this piece. The silver, gold and black plating is very smooth to the touch….BUT….THE Verdigris is very different. It has an acid like finish and has a raw crude feel. I actually like it a lot. It gives it authenticity…….
