“SEPT 08”

……………………SEPTEMBER 08 Fall was in BLOOM…………Starting at the top left was yet another Boucle zip front jacket with embroidery. I had used a similar Floral emb. on a linen/rayon spring jacket that was very successful…..so……..I did a new version for this jacket and the jewel neck sweater next to it. I have to say the Chinese are masters of the SATIN STITCH EMBROIDERY. For centuries they did it ALL by had, and if you ever have the occasion to see some of these antique embroideries, maybe on clothing, bags, hats, pillows, bed coverings, drapes and chairs…..literally everything they could decorate…..it is amazing to see how precise and magnificent the work is…..and the COLORS!!! Centuries latter they have mastered these types of embroideries by machine. The jacket came in White/Multi and Black/Multi……The cotton/acrylic sweater had the addition of “Bundle Stitch” emb. bordering the neckline and the sleeve hem…..It also came in White/Multi, Black/Multi and the addition of Red/Multi……….Both the jacket and the sweater were very successful……..The jacket at the lower left was a short fitted Boucle and Leather combination jacket. It had a flat spread leather shirt collar with a half back stand , a leather panel in the front and a leather racing stripe down the back It also had two leather strips up the sleeve, approx. 6 inches with zippers. It also had two zipper breast pockets….The colors were Navy boucle with Navy leather, and Black boucle with Black leather…..This was a great jacket with jeans, dress pants and skirts. It was sort of the front runner to the Moto…..The next two items were in an acrylic/wool blend knit. The were both in a fine Fully Fashioned English rib. Light enough for comfort, but heavy enough for the body these pieces needed. They were both gored. The top had a FIT & FLARED shape with an Empire fit and then out to create a swing. It was tunic length. It had a sort of half funnel neck. The neck collar was very Audrey Hepburn or should I say “Hubert de Givenchy”. The pull on skirt also was gored from the fully fashioning and also had a fit and flared bottom [not nearly as much as the top, but enough to give drape and movement. They came in Black and Forest Green…..The next dress was in Rayon jersey in Crimson and Black. I must now say the dress was very modified from what I originally wanted. It was supposed to have much more swing and shirring. I felt the fabric was thin enough and had enough drape to handle the fullness. I was out voted. I also though they made it too short. Maybe my version would have been too extreme for the QVC customer, but I had made similar dresses for AK. Of course we only sold them to a size 10………………..The next blouse was the first of my front plead blouses. It was a georgette blouse in Crimson, Black and Winter White. I just recently brought this blouse back for one of my last collections in Pink and Ivory….It’s a great blouse for under all kinds of jackets and cardigans…..I love the versatility of what and how you can wear this blouse with a little imagination…….from a very Madame sophisticated look to a very Bohemian look.
