“PM STYLE SNEAK PEEK”

On June 22, 2013…..I will be on PM Style with a brand new STRIPE PONTE KNIT DRESS, A235307. The sketch above is an example of the sketches I do for the stylists and the models so they know who is to wear what and how each should look in their individual outfits…..I leave nothing to chance…………..This is the way I was trained and it’s hard to teach “old dogs new tricks”……….. I have taught, by example, many of the designers you may know who have worked for me over the years. Each model gets a sketch on a plastic bag with all of her accessories in it, so she knows exactly how I expect her to look when she comes out onto the runway. They love doing the show, because it feels like a real runway show, but it is a lot of work with usually 4 to 6 minutes in between changes………………..I thought you might enjoy getting a glimpse of what goes into doing one of my presentations……………..

……………………scroll down for the photos………………..enjoy……………….much Love………….Louis

Well, how disappointing. Not you of course, or your new dress which is stunning. But it irritates me that a designer of your talent and stature doesn’t get enough time to show and talk about your design. And Lisa doesn’t do you justice either. Shawn and Sandra really appreciate your talent.nsorry but I was very annoyed tonight–wanted more, not less.

The time allotted to each item is done by the “planner” who scripts the show. The host has nothing to do with the amount of time given to each item…….they have enough to do…….. When you stand there with the host the time is posted on the monitor so you know how much time you have to sell the item…..The numbers start ticking down to zero, and then you’re off. I don’t know what the criteria is for time allotment. We had 4 minutes……I thought it was a little short for a new item. I hope that those of you who bought it enjoy it. What I can tell you from looking at the monitor is…..the colors looked much brighter on TV than they actually are. The colors seemed to vibrate on the screen. Jac, who watched from home with her sister, thought the colors looked much brighter than what they really are too.

Thanks for the reply, Louis. I just bought four WK that have been reordered that I will tuck away for November. Three v-necks and anoth T-neck to add to my other three from last year. Meanwhile, I would like to know if you will be presenting a three-quarter or knee length coat in the fall? I like the black Boucle from last season but if you are going to have another, I will wait. In the south, we just usually wear jackets because it doesn’t get that cold for long. But, we will be traveling at Christmas where the high will be 40s and lows I’m the 30s so I need a warmer coat! I appreciate it, all the best.

Dear Waterbaby….in Sept I will have a topper…finger tip length…in a nubby fabric very similar to last years coat. The colors will be Ruby, Malachite and Lapis……all Wk colors…..it’s a wonderful topper and it looks sooooooooo expensive.

    Hi Louis,

I usually need to hem skirts and dresses, and wondering if this dress can be hemmed? Not sure with the knit fabric. Thank you. I’m looking forward to getting the blue one.

Sketches are terrific! I want to know more about the suede looking jacket with sweater details!! BTW, i presume you meant this monday, July 22 not June?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’m afraid you will have to wait until nearer to the Aug 26th shows to know more details about the suede and what else is coming…….I still haven’t done my sneak peeks for the July show other than the seed bead necklace which is now posted and avail for buying. Once again the photos of the necklace are less than exciting.

Love the sketches and the background information. I want all three colors to be truthful but will have to settle for just one (probably the blue). Looking forward to the show!

OMG Louis, these sketches are over the top! I am enthralled with the way you work. They are invigorating and inspire me to go paint something. Your studio must really be something! Now I’ll go look at the dresses.

Yes, this is sooooo fun. I am going to print this and watch with an eagle eye. Thanks for sharing this! Love to you too.

These are great! The blue dress reminds me of the Yves St. Laurent Rive Gauche perfume I once wore.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judy…..I hadn’t thought of that but the packaging, as I recall, were these colors….I remember blue and black and maybe gold??? He did many knit stripe chemise dresses and tunics over short knit skirts….usually piled with necklaces and I remember oriental upside down cone hats.

      1. Judy S.

You have a great memory! Yes, blue, black, and silver stripes on the packaging. I was living in a small town, and wearing that perfume made me feel like I carried a piece of the Left Bank with me, and your dress will now do the same. Thank you!

Fantastic! I would love to see more of your sketches!!
