“THE RUBY BOUCLE TOPPER”

boucle jacket

……………….One of ..THE …colors of the season is……….RUBY…………Many of you have already selected  a RUBY WHISPER KNIT SWEATER  in one of the styles being offered, and know just how gorgeous this RUBY is. It is a PURE RED………It is not ORANGE, nor is it BLUE. PURE red is a PRIMARY PIGMENT COLOR and it doesn’t get more primary than this!…..One of the Ruby WK sweaters featured above is  A237410, the scoop neck PEASANT SWEATER……………………….. Tomorrow night on the SPECIAL DESIGNER PM STYLE I will be presenting this TOPPER,A238159…….but QVC is having very short sneak peeks or promos today to advertise tomorrow nights PM STYLE…..I will be on for a minute or two tonight at about 8pm with the topper…..but I don’t know exactly when……………The fabric is VERY similar to the PINK & BLACK coat I had on the line last year, A229477. The texture and weight of the fabric is almost the same, except last year’s fabric was 50% WOOL & 50% POLYESTER, and the new version is 60% WOOL & 40% POLYESTER. If you loved the coat fabric…you will love this one too…..The topper is fully lined and has four dyed to match large rimmed buttons. The sleeves are bracelet length. The silhouette of the topper is EASY, and has a DROPPED SHOULDER. It has INSET BAND POCKETS. It has a spread SHIRT COLLAR with a BACK STAND, so it will frame the face beautifully. The topper is approx 29 inches long for the XS……Jac and I were in Bergdorfs the other day, and I can say without hesitation, this topper could have been hanging in ANY department with a $2000 price tag and I wouldn’t have flinched………..This topper is made IMPECCABLY, and IS a DESIGNER GARMENT. What I love about this topper is…… it will take you from casual to dressy…..it’s not always easy to find an outerwear piece that you feel comfortable wearing over evening clothes or a beautiful LBD…..I can see this topper worn over your ivory wool IRISH FISHERMAN’S SWEATER, and a pair of jeans on a casual Saturday……or that LBD for work with black tights and black shoe booties…………….or…….as shown above with the WHISPER KNIT RUBY CARDIGAN, A237402 worn over the WK RUBY TANK, A237404……..and my new “RUBY SEQUIN SKIRT”, coming in October….just in time for the Holiday parties. If you want to make an entrance and STEAL THE SHOW………..this is what you wear! ……There are many WK sweaters avail in the Ruby color so you have many options. In Oct. I will have other RUBY pieces that will coordinate with the topper, but really all you need is a Ruby sweater and a BLACK PENCIL SKIRT or  a great pair of BLACK JEANS or DRESS PANTS………….ALL of the JEWELRY above will be offered sometime in OCT………….The FIVE STRAND NECKLACE ……is a MUST HAVE!!!!!!! This is “the necklace” that was inspired by the necklace Nancy Reagan wore the night of the State Dinner I attended, and it is probably my absolute FAVORITE piece I have ever done for QVC up until now…..and that’s saying a lot! The RUBY beads are GLASS and there are three different GOLD BEADS…..tiny spacer beads……fluted beads and smooth beads……it truly is a beauty!!…..The  RUBY earring that coordinates  will  be avail as a CLIP ON only…………and the cross shown here is the new DOUBLE SIDED CROSS in GOLD………one side has the RUBY  stone, and on the other the VIOLET stone…..so it will coordinate with your VIOLET WK SWEATERS………….I also love the Ruby worn with the Violet WKs and visa versa……… If you have always wanted a red coat and or topper…..I think this just may be IT!…………………scroll down………………………………………….enjoy…………….much Love………………………………Louis

I want to buy the new necklace and the cross in ruby…Please let me know what to do…Thanks

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Oria…the 5 strand choker in the red and gols and the cross are not ready for sale you. I will let everyone know when they are posted on my Linea Jewelry site, but honestly some of the Linea Ladies see it quicker than me!!! The long gold and color bead necklace in all of the colors sold out completely last night.

  2. Dariann

Wow! I hope that QVC reorders this since many sizes are already sold out. Louis, I would also like a white boucle added to the colors.
    Thanks,
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Dariann….Winter White was one of my first choices, but the fabric mill said they could not do it in this fabric???? I’m always on the look out for a good WW fabric. It really has to be a good quality or the garments are see through and look like rags.

      1. Dariann

        Louis,
I know that you will keep looking for a winter white coat fabric – hopefully next year you can offer us one.

        See you & Jac tonight,
        Dariann

        Hi

Also for next year, I would appreciate long sleeves if you do a new style.

        Laura

  3. Anne

Thank you for your concern and advice! I bought all three colors in medium and will take them to my tailor.

  4. Anne

I was planning to buy this coat in all three colors. I kept checking all day yesterday to see if it was available.
Then at 8 a.m. today, I see that is is sold out in all three colors in the small and extra small. Too bad.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Anne, I’ve checked to see if those sizes were loaded into the system yet since they do not even appear on the site. However the sm is there and does show sold out. I can’t believe they are sold out already. If there is a wait list I would recommend going on it. When things sell out this fast there are always returns….some still buy two sizes to see what they like, and some buy more than one color so they can choose when they see them and then return what they don’t want……don’t give up hope.

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’ve just gotten word from the assistant buyer……..and yes the XXS, XS and SM are already sold out……sorry to those who wanted it.

        1. Kate

          Wow.

        2. nyc1

How ridiculous that they didn’t order enough so that every size would be available when you go on the air with the jacket. They are not even allowing waitlist on some of it now.

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

Amen to that…….I’m not happy with this situation.

        3. Sheesh

Dear Louis, we are beyond furious with the Buyer and the Q! We counted on this Topper to wear with our Whisper Knits and the Sequined Skirt. I missed out on my Ruby Small, too. We know there is nothing you can do about it, but it is just incredible that they would order such low quantities in the smaller sizes. What are they thinking? This madness follows on the Ottoman Knit and the Asymmetrical Jacket selling out in the smaller sizes, immediately, too. I really need a “chill pill” to calm me down about this…sorry for my rant…but please tell TPTB at the Q that we are ready to storm the barricades!

          Sheila

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Shelia…..I already did, but I think it would be more powerful from all of you as a group….

  5. nyc1

I guess I’m late to the party. The topper is already sold out in XS in red. DARN.
It looks BEAUTIFUL. I hope all that are getting it enjoy.

  6. Sheesh

Hi, Louis. For gloves, do you recommend a 6 button length or an 8 button length to go with the Topper? Thanks, Sheila

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Wait for the topper to arrive and then see what works best….they really don’t have to be too long…it’s all what you are comfortable with and what’s avail.

  7. Sharon Santourian Holman

I think you have just solved my Fall jacket problem! I can now retire a very old leather jacket that I dislike…I look fabulous in this red.

  8. WNYgal/April

I actually HAVE a glove collection, but only one pair of the long ones necessary for this amazing topper, as those are harder to find. But find them, I will. Louis, I just want to say that I think this autumn’s collection, starting with the August shows, is hands down, the most exciting, beautiful, & versatile that you have brought us to date. There has not been one piece in it so far that I have not seen as a comfortable fit into my wardrobe even if I can’t manage to buy everything I would like all at once. There is something wonderful for everyone, from office to casual, & it is all as modern yet timeless as can be. I am thrilled & I am not the only one. Thank you.

    1. Carol

      Ebay is your friend, April.

  9. Yvonne (antiquelover)

I was determined to buy the ruby, then I scrolled down. I was determined to buy ruby and malachite. Then I scrolled. Now…. I need them all. Fabulous colors, fabulous style. I am in heaven. Oh, Louis, what plethora of gems. Thank you.

      1. Sherry

        LOL…

  10. Sheesh

Hi, Louis. So now I know what I’ll be shopping for in Paris in October–Black Opera Length gloves. I have many pairs of my mother’s Kislav gloves from Paris in the 50’s and 60’s–need to dig them out of storage and see if I have anything that works.

    Sheila

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Paris has or anyway had fabulous glove shops with the most incredible colors….if you are into Berets…..there are many of those touristy stores along the Rue de Rivoli that have lots of berets and inexpensive…..Last year I picked up olive sage and purple, but they have all of the classic colors too.

      1. Sheesh

Oh you know I’ll be on the Rue de Rivoli picking up my Berets and Pashminas. I used to live in Paris for over three years (in the 16th near Place Victor Hugo)and I always took my friends to the Rus de Rivoli to shop for Pashminas in every color combination imaginable. We’d then pop into Le Meurice Hotel for drinks in the incredible lobby bar–one of my favorite spots in Paris.

  11. Catherine

Beautiful! We need a reorder of the whisper knit skirts, more so now than ever. This is exactly the sort of coat I would like to pair with my knits for the early fall. Any chance of a reorder on those skirts?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Catherine, I seriously doubt it. By the time the buyers analyze the selling and returns, that takes three months, by then it would take another 5 months to order and dye the yarn, spin it, knit it and ship the finished pieces….then it has to go through the QVC process, so no….if there is something you want or think you want get them now. When I start showing all of the color skirts in OCT….they too will be gone. The factories are already working on next spring’s production….it all has to be shipped before Chinese New Year in Feb, so they would never stop production to squeeze in something for fall.

      1. Catherine

Ugh. I need XXS, and they are all sold out in the black and walnut, which are the colors I wear most. Out of desperation I ordered the malachite and violet. What are the “color skirts in Oct?” Are they whisper knits?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

There aren’t anymore solid skirts until Dec….and that’s a ponte knit maxi that will match all of the OLO ponte styles. The only skirt for Oct is the tweed gored skirt. There is also the A09484, acrylic/wool pencil skirt which is exactly like the pencil skirt. It’s a great skirt and has been reordered 6 times.

          1. Catherine

Three months to analyze a potential reorder of a particular item? Sounds like dealing with the buying function at QVC is about as much fun as getting through the bureaucracy of imperial Russia. I will just keep my fingers crossed for a re-order of the whisper knit pencil skirt, and hope for my waitlist orders to be filled. I don’t wear anything with acrylic in it, or any kind of ponte. And of course, I am already enjoying the WK sweaters I just bought. We had a cold snap here last week and I have already worn the violet surplice to work. Good luck with the boucle coat tomorrow. I’m holding off for the leather jacket.

  12. Goldie76

Forgot to mention how much I am a fan of your way of interpreting the columnar classic look. Fantastic! I melt like butter when I see this look.

  13. Goldie76

You hit on it, Louis, in your “malachite” entry — “disposable fashion.” Your Linea Ladies, I think, tend to favor classics that have been updated (by changes to length, cut or fabric) and don’t want to put much of their energy or money into disposable fashion. Last week I watched Lana Turner in “Peyton Place.” I will admit that there was not one outfit she wore in that movie that I would not wear proudly today. On the other hand, check out Joan Crawford in that old chestnut “Mildred Pierce” (which I always enjoy viewing). Her fashions look dated because of the extremism of the creation. I guess the 1940s were akin to our 1980s. Anyway, thank heavens for Linea, you — and QVC for being clever enough to keep you! Your fashions will stand the test of time.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Goldie….the only thing that really dated the Joan Crawford suits is the extreme shoulders…..otherwise I would repeat any one of them. I love the way they fit and they are tailored to death, but still have a softness to them.

  14. DeeCee

I have the ruby v-neck WK so I know how beautiful a color it is. Is the red skirt shown in these photos coming soon? It looks like it might be the same fabric as the topper.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear DeeCee, the skirt is coming in Oct and it is actually a knit skirt with tiny red sequins scattered all over. Jac will be wearing it on PM Style this Monday night.

      1. Carol

        That skirt is AMAZING!

  15. Kate

Does this come in other colors?

    1. Kate

Never mind. I see that it does.

Red for me (and I love the idea of wearing this over a chunky fisherman sweater!!!)

        1. Kate

Guessing I will need to invest in a nice long pair of gloves to go with this coat? Black, I suppose?

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

Not necessarily………I will be showing red….that way you can wear anything under it, or with you Ivory Irish sweater ….ivory knit gloves…..if you really want to step out a fabulous color. I think you need to start a glove collection.

            1. Kate

“A glove collection” is a concept I can get behind! This is why so many of us actually record your shows, so we can double-back for styling ideas.

Will you show any other items during PMS (so I’ll be safe to order the coat as soon it comes up without wondering if I need to create a larger order?)

            2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kate…..I will only have the one item, but save some sheckels [sp] for my Sept. two hour show. I think it’s as good as these past Sept.shows!!

            3. Goldie76

Lucky me! I just happened to buy ruby red leather gloves last fall. They will hit just at the point where the sleeve on this jacket ends.

Gads, can you tell I like this look? This will be the last of my submissions today.
