“THE BLACK & WHITE TWEED”

tweed blazer

The OCTOBER 18th show is almost here. This will be a two hour show starting at 10:00am. This will also be my last BIG FALL/WINTER show for the 2013 season. This presentation is PACKED with NEW and some of your favorites are finally coming back! In addition to this show I will have my TUXEDO in Nov., but that will be sold OLO and thru a mailer…..however, I will have a SNEAK PEEK of it on this coming show…..so keep a look out!!! I will also be on air twice on Dec 27th….the Morning Show and PM Style with some wonderful new things…….. Tweeds of every kind have become a very strong trend for this fall and winter season. Just take a look at this month’s VOGUE with Sandra Bullock on the cover. The very last editorial section is devoted to BLACK & WHITE tweeds and textured fabrics…….some look very much like what I will be presenting to you NOW!………………………………………

THE TWEED HERRINGBONE JACKET, A238540…..is a fabric made from POLY/ACRYLIC’/WOOL. If you have ever read the fabric label of some Chanel jackets….the fabric contents are sometimes similar. Many tweeds are made up of a combination of yarns. This fully lined jacket is approx. 27 inches long for the XS. It has a notched collar and lapel and has a three button front. The long sleeves are left unadorned so it will be easier to alter if necessary. The novelty buttons have colored domes to match the jacket and metallic rims….in the case of the black….it has an antique SILVER or PEWTER rim. The jacket has a DOUBLE ENTRY PATCH POCKET…..meaning you can enter the double pocket from the top or the side. This is a detail I introduced many years ago to my Linea Ladies. The pocket also has a working buttoned flap…….I would say this jacket is on the generous side, and if you are in between sizes…size down…..BUT ALWAYS check the garment measurements……sometimes my advice doesn’t work for everyone and I would not want to mislead you……THE SUIT, all matching as shown above, is a SPECTACULAR way to look…but the jacket as a separate with a black Silk/Cashmere or WK turtleneck [or a wonderful color] and a pair of black trouser or jeans is an every day way to dress…..for both the office, dinner or weekend casual.

THE TWEED HERRINGBONE SKIRT, A238541. This is an eight gored fit and flare skirt with a modified TULIP SHAPE. The skirt was fit WITH the jacket to make sure the start of the flare was just in the right place…..this is very important to the whole proportion. The skirt is approx. 23 1/2 inches long from the bottom of the waist band to the hem. It is possible that you can get an added inch in length depending where the band rests. There is a back zipper and a button. The back of the waist band has elastic that stretches flat when on the body. The skirt is fully lined. With the jacket as a matching suit it is very “DESIGNER”, but it also makes a wonderful separate skirt with all of your new Black and Ivory Silk/Cashmere and WK sweaters. Add some of the new sweater COLORSĀ  and it is a fabulous way to go…. The skirt is perfect with the new zip front leather jacket coming on the show!

THE FAUX SILK TWEED BLOUSE WITH MATCHING SCARF, A238545. The shape is simple…..the blouse has a jewel neckline which is piped in the self fabric. There is some shirring in the front from the neckline, but not too much. The long sleeves have a narrow single button cuff, and the back has a key hole opening with a single loop and button. It is the TWEED PRINT that IS the FOCAL POINT of this blouse. I gave the tweed fabric to my print design team and told them I wanted an exact copy as a print. This was not an easy task. Sometimes the most subtle and seemingly easy things to do are the most difficult. To get the texture and tone was a challenge, but one I think we achieved beautifully. When you can’t tell where the print ends and the actual tweed begins….I would say it is a success! The fabric, one that you may already own in the IKAT print top and skirt, looks and feels like 100% silk. The addition of the tweed print scarf is an added bonus. Wear it with the blouse or as a separate scarf with other blouses or sweaters you may already own.

THE SHAWL, A238542. Make no mistake about it……this is not a scarf…..this IS A SHAWL. It measures approx 20 inches in the width and approx 104 inches in the length. There are many ways you can wear this, and I will be showing you some options during the show. If you love shawls this would be a wonderful one to own…………………………………Everything show above is in the BLACK/WHITE combination, but there are other alternatives!

There are many ways to accessorize this jacket depending on what you are wearing with it. Above, I have it simply worn with Gunmetal earrings and the beautiful BLACK BROOCH, J273587. If you choose to accent the look with a color such as the RUBY WK Turtleneck…..then I would suggest the Ruby beads with the Ruby cross and the Ruby stone earring…..likewise for the Lapis or Malachite. If you want you can wear all gunmetal with the GUNMETAL cross with the Black or Amber stone showing …perhaps with the GUNMETAL and Amber long beads too. Another way to go would be the METALLIC nugget necklace in the gold or silver, J284035….there are so many options…the Multi Cross necklace and the Love Knots……..you get the idea………………….HAVE FUN!……………………………………scroll down for more………………………………………………………………………………….

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………enjoy…………………much Love…………………………………….Louis

A big sigh with a smile, accompanied by a soft wwwooooooooow….

Absolutely gorgeous. Love the Black and Ivory. The photo of the black turtleneck and black slacks – that is how I’ll be wearing it, so thank you for setting it up for me.

Love it, love everything about it.

Your TWEED is fabulous. Black & Ivory for me. NOW for NOVEMBER, will you have a show in November?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judy Ann….I am afraid you may have some LINEA withdrawal! I have no appearances in Nov. I will offering my TUXEDO JACKET and PANT in Nov, but that will be OLO. I will be showing the Tuxedo jacket as a sneak peek on this coming show with the pant that I will be selling in the Black, Ruby and Lapis so you all can get a look at it….Jac will be wearing it. In all honesty…the Black of the pant really doesn’t work with the TUXEDO jacket and I really would not recommend them together, but it was the only way I could sneak in the TUXEDO!!! I will have a slim Tuxedo pant to match and it is the same fabric as the Caviar, Camel and Black pant that was sold out. My next appearance won’t be until Dec…I think the 27th, but that will be an appearance on the morning show with Pat and Jane…..two new things, and then again that evening on PM Style with Lisa, again with two new things……..Jac and I are planning a nice long trip in between. So this next show is my last BIG show of the 2013 Fall/Winter season!

      1. Judy Ann

Oh Louis, Linea withdrawal for sure! But you have given us so much to play with, for a while!!! Happy to hear you and Jac are planning a nice long get-away. You both deserve it!! Again, thank you for all you do for us!!!! My best to you and Jac!!!

Jacket’s a no-brainer, but the skirt is just ridiculously good. Is the fabric too textured to pair with something like the TSV black ponte jacket?

Would the tweed shawl work with the sequin skirt and a Posh or WK sweater for a more casual look, or is that just too much mixed media?

Would you ever belt this jacket? Would you see it over a fisherman’s sweater and jeans?

Also, while I have you, do you have any ideas on when we might see the jet pieces?

(Lot of questions. Can you tell this one has me just a little excited?)

Morning Kate…..watched the Red Soxs LOOSE last night….BOHO…..BOHO….since you are a Transplant from LA….I’m sure your rooting for the Dodgers anyway, but they’re two behind too….sorry about that. Ok to get to the important stuff….The skirt would look great with the Ponte jacket………if the WK looks good with the skirt the Ponte will too. Personally, I would prefer the new hooded Ponte jacket, but they will both work. The shawl would work perfectly with the sequin skirt as will the Black/Ivory jacket……with any of the SC or WH sweaters……just depends what look you are going for….Fisherman sweater and jeans….so I really have to answer that???LOL I think you know they will look fabulous together! As for belting the jacket….yes you could, but know when you take the cinched belt off the jacket will probably be wrinkled……I am happy you have given these pieces your seal of approval! Anymore questions??

I’ve been in LA and was window shopping on Robertson. At Intermix ($$$$ boutique) there was a jacket which was very, very close to yours in terms of cut and style and it was $1595.00 (Prada). Across the street at Chanel was a billowy ivory blouse (silk, probably) that featured a black streamer tied into a bow at the collar ($945.00). Over at H&M there were a pile of merino wool sweaters (not as luxe as Posh) and those were 59.00–at H&M! And, finally, the Saks window on Wilshire was all ruby red, the color of fall 2013. Oh, the Ralph Lauren window had sequins.

No more questions. At least for now!

Just proves that we are lucky, lucky ladies to have you as “our designer.”

Hi, Louis. I watched the Posh Cardigan video in my Paris hotel room. You said you’d be back for a 2 hour show on October 28th. Was that a slip? I thought it was the 18th. Was there a change in schedule?

    Sheila

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

That was DEFINITELY a BIG slip!!! The 18th is the date at 10am…..bon soir
