“THE EVOLUTION OF A DESIGN”

Anguilla 2009 & brenda & guy1

……………………First it starts with an idea…..something catches your eye…………and the thought process starts to evolve…………….Sitting under a palm tree with the sun shinning through….the fronds of the tree are moving in the breeze………….it is beautiful………………………………………………………….I try to always have a very small sketch pad with me for those moments when an inspiration comes and I have to jot something down………that was the case with the Palm Frond jewelry….. the Fish pendant….the Fish earring…………… and  the Fish bone bracelet…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Thank you for posting your inspirations. I still own so many of your beautiful couturier blouses from your Anne Klein days. They are all so timeless and beautiful. It is so interesting for me to see your inspirations.

I love the inspiration for this creation, Louis! A designer’s eye goes everywhere and sees everything. One of my favorite Wm. Morris designs is “Willow Bough”. It came about as a result of Morris’s daughter pleading with him to come and sit under the willow tree where she used to play. He was so captivated by the look of the willow as seen from under the tree that he created the design. His little daughter, of course, was thrilled! I have it as a side wall in a lower level guest bedroom that looks out on the garden outside. It is soooo peaceful and relaxing. And of course reminds me of the days when I used to play under my grandmother’s willow tree!
