MIRACLE OF MIRACLES!

HELLO EVERYONE!
I had to let you all know we are home and ALL IS WELL!
We were going to stay in PA one more night but we couldn’t sit in the hotel room one more minute watching what was happening on TV. In PA all the news we got was about New Jersey and New York…..very frustrating. When we saw that it wasn’t as bad as predicted in NY and it was down graded to a tropical storm….we packed up the caravan and high tailed it out of there. We made some phone calls and looked up traffic and bridge conditions on our I-Pad and it looked promising. There wasn’t any traffic on the PA Pike, The NJ thruway or the New England Thruway….the George Washington Bridge was empty! I made it from door to door in 2 hours and 35 minutes….a new record. The amazing thing was all the roads were bone dry….not even a puddle! We couldn’t believe it!! When we drove down the main road to our house there were branches down but no trees or power lines….could this be possible after what was billed as the worst hurricane EVER?????We got home and everything…almost….was as we had left it and the power was on!…..which meant no water in the basement! There wasn’t any water in the house anywhere. My garden didn’t fare well….but what the hay. I was getting tired of all the maintenance anyway! ALL in all……GOD was GOOD!
I promise when we get settled and relax a bit, [this has been very stressful], I will answer all of your questions. I will say I don’t know why the V-neck long sleeve classic sweater and the mock neck were not avail. All I can think of is….with all of the “fashion day” stuff that has to be loaded into the system, they weren’t a priority. I will find out when they will be avail for ordering and let you know. I know they are at QVC because they were shipped with the cardigan and tank……………………………………….The sitter is on her way to us with the babies…………..we are sighing with relief………..much Love to all, Louis

    Mr. Dell Olio:
I just had to track you down to tell you how beautifully made the “pearl jackets” are…my items are still arriving and I believe there are 8 from your last show. The jackets are made as well as any couture jacket I’ve ever owned or even seen, just lovely.

Thank you for all your efforts, and for QVC recognizing your talent and committment to good taste.

    Toni Luttrell

    P. S. This is my first “fan letter”.

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Toni,
I am honored to receive your first fan letter and I am very appreciative that you thought highly enough about the jacket to write one. My manufacturer and I work very hard to make the best product we can and it is always good to hear positive feedback….thank you so much and enjoy your pearl jacket…….Hope all is well in your area of Texas. I keep seeing on the news the horrible stories of the fires. They have encompassed the same area mass as the state of Ct. where I live. That is incomprehensible… take care, Louis

      1. Toni L

Thank you for your reply, and your concern about the wildfires running rampant in my area, within just a few miles from my home. We know at least 3 families that have lost everything, and the last count I heard was that a minimum of 1000 homes burned to the ground, not a thing left except ashes—many of them in the millions of dollars in value. It has been so dry here that we shouldn’t have been surprised, and we are all praying for rain daily.

Today the sapphire “shantung” jacket arrived, and it too, is lovely. If it ever gets cooler here, I will be wearing it with pleasure—that is when I’m not wearing either the pink or black pearl jackets.

Thanks again for your wonderful reply, which I treasure!

      Dear Toni,
When Hurricane Irene care through, Jac and I were at QVC. We were worried sick and wondered what we would find, if anything, when we got home. Our house is literally 80 feet from the Long Island Sound. Thank God we were spared any real damage but, down the coast house were washed away and we all know the devastation in Vermont. Those poor people were not expecting and were totally blindsided. Now, New Jersey is flooded from all the rain and many houses have to be torn down. We have too much water and you don’t have any…..now we have a whole season of hurricanes to look forward to and who knows where they will land…..one has to wonder…..what is going on?…………best wishes, Louis

  2. Carmille

Hi Louis and Jac! I just had to write and say how much I enjoyed your show too. I live up here in Vancouver British Columbia Canada and don’t get QVC live so got up at 5 oclock in the morning and watched your show on my computer! This is what I do to see your shows. I enjoy them so much and I just can’t say how much I love your clothing designs. You truly are a phenomenal designer and your pieces are so beautifully made. Thank you for bringing such quality and class into our lives by giving us remarkable product. QVC should be so honoured to have you on their roster. You are a true “gem” and we so enjoy Jac too and also the “girls”. All the best to you all. Keep up the fantastic designs! We love them!

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Carmille,
Thank you so much for your much appreciated letter. A few years ago I was approached by QVC Canada to sell my line there but it didn’t work out. I’m glad that you have the opportunity to get the clothes in Vancouver….best regards, Louis

  3. Mary

I needed those straight leg pants so badly and because of Irene, I wasn’t able to order them. It’s so frustrating.

I did get the jacket with pearl embellishment in black, and the faux shantung jacket in olive, but I’m going to look silly with no pants…

Seriously, thank you for doing what you do. I love the new me.

    1. louisdellolio

Mary I will have the slim leg pant on my next show on Sept. 12th. It is the same fabric and the same colors as the straight leg. Don’t let “slim” scare you. It’s not extreme and it’s not to slim. It looks great with the faux shantung jacket.
      ……….regards, Louis

      1. Mary

Thank you for your reassurance – that ‘slim’ word may deter a few from trying them. Please be sure to explain it when you’re on the air. I’m so happy to hear that they’ll go nicely with my faux shantung jacket, because this morning I succumbed and added one in sapphire, thanks to the raves on the QVC forum.

[I also realized I posted my message under the wrong header, so I didn’t mention my relief that you and Jac made it home safely. So glad all is well.]

  4. Kimmberley Parker a/k/a (SOLDOUT)

    Hi Louis:

Being in NYC I know what you mean about the Irene damage being less than expected! Of course we still pray and wish the best for all of those who were seriously affected, of which there are many.

I loved your show and was thrilled to be able to get the perfectly pink pearl and ribbon trimmed jacket! I have the skirt in black and I can’t wait to wear them as an outfit. My question is, will there be any new tops other than the turtleneck coming up in perfectly pink? I also plan to wear this jacket with black velvet pants around the holidays.

Well, you did a terrific job as always and I thank you so much for your talent and dedication.

    SOLDOUT

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Soldout,
I am always planning new pieces in perfectly pink…..since it truly has become a “signature color”. I will have pieces in Dec. and again next spring. To be honest, I’m not sure the new pieces will work with the pearl jacket. They weren’t really designed to go with it and they are in a totally different yarn and material, so I’m not sure the colors will match. Even though all of the fabric mills and sweater mills are given the same color to match, different yarns and materials will look different. We’ll have to wait and see…..regards, Louis

  5. Carol in FL

Louis, I am so glad that you had a safe trip to and from QVC. You were in my prayers throughout the storm. Imagine my surprise when another “Carol in Florida” called in during your show! I was so impressed that you remembered me from this blog. You come in to contact with so many people and to think that you remembered me! I was able to get the pants, the black ribbon jacket, and the mallard blue tank from this show as well as the double breasted ponte knit jacket in espresso with matching skirt from last year. (I already have it in the forest green.) Just waiting on QVC to put up the v-neck and mock neck tops so I can order those. Thank you again for all you do for your Linea ladies. You’re the best!

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Carol,
I was very excited when I heard “Carol from FL was calling”. It’s always great when one of the women I regularly correspond with gets through….it’s not that often. As you know it was another Carol who I invited to post any time. She seemed to be a Linea fan too.
I still haven’t heard why those sweaters aren’t avail. They were shipped ages ago. I’m sure it’s because they are overwhelmed with product to be aired but, they were supposed to be Aug. “Essentials”…..regards, Louis

  6. Chris/Jazzmom

I was w/o power for the start of the show and power did not return until early PM on Monday! I managed to order two of the tanks at midnight and was disappointed that the V neck sweaters were not available for purchase at the same time.
With the power outage I managed to awaken before 8AM and fortunately, cell service was operational and placed my order for the black pearl trim jacket right as the show was starting. Glad you had no flood damage or power outages to deal with.

  7. Marcia

    Hi Louis
Glad there was no added drama at home! I live about 20 minutes from the West Chester studio- so I know what you mean about the coverage ( my Mom livves in NJ!). I was able to order the mock necklace by a phone order ( np power on Sunday-Tuesday)
Sorry to have missed the show- but can watch the videos. Waiting for my pearl jacket and animal print topper ( plus cardigans) to arrive.

  8. NCGal

I am so glad you and Jac got home safe and sound.

The clothes from this show are beautiful and classic. I can’t wait to get my Ribbon and Pearl jackets!! I could not make up my mind which color to get and knew they would sell out, so I got both.

I look forward to your Sept shows. 4AM? Are they serious?

    1. louisdellolio

I have to be there at 2am…….that’s rough!

  9. Celia

What a relief, Louis! I’m so glad there was no further damage. Your garden will grow again next spring, more beautiful than ever, I’m sure! I’m looking forward to receiving the pearl jacket, tanks, cardigans, etc. And I keep checking on the v-necks and mock necks. You and Jac are so dedicated..king and queen of hearts!

  10. Venessa/ShopperV

God is indeed Good!!! I’m so thankful you both made it home safely! Thank you for the magnificent show on Sunday morning. I look forward to September. Your fashions are more addicting than chocolate!!! God bless!

  11. blinddogs

So glad you are all home safe and sound. Irene hit us pretty hard, with power, TV and internet outages of lasting duration. Just got internet service back monday afternoon. But even though I only had a spotty cell phone coverage, I managed to get my Linea orders in via phone ordering while the winds howled over the Chesapeake Bay! Flooded basement, some tree damage but overall we were very lucky. Glad you avoided damage to your home. Thanks for all you do for your “ladies.” I could never have placed my orders without your blog’s advance item number listings and descriptions–blinddogs

  12. Judi

    Louis-
I’m so glad you, Jac and the girls are safely home now. It’s time to relax and recover.
Although Irene was stressful, I, too, was very fortunate in not sustaining damage.
I was able to watch your show and buy many lovely items, too numerous too mention!!!
I’ll be waiting for the V necks to become available to us (what a snafu, to be polite)! I’m eagerly awaiting your September show…..you are outdoing yourself!
    Regards-
    Judi

  13. Dariann

    Dear Louis,

Glad that you and Jac made it home safely and that the girls are now with you. Get some rest this week – you deserve it!

    Dariann

  14. farmerwife

So very thankful you and Jac had a safe trip in and back to your home. Your designs were wonderful, and I, too, have several things coming to Missouri. No one would have known what you had endured on your trip into Pennsylvania, nor the worry about what you feared you might find when you returned. You are truly a professional in every way, and I am so happy to have found your designs as well as a group of lovely people to spend time with via the internet.

  15. Susan T.

Glad to hear you and your lovely wife made it home safely and that all is relatively well there at your home. I’m glad that the storm eventually became weaker. Looking forward to the coming month’s shows as well.

  16. gardensla

‘Fashion Day’….snicker. (insert eye-rolling emoticon here)

  17. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

I am so happy to hear this news, Louis. Thank you again for a wonderful show and all that you do for us. You’re the best!

  18. judith

So glad you are home safe and sound. The show was great. Gabrielle was a perfect host and you and Jac and all the models did a great job. Can’t wait to get my new items and for the next show.

  19. Rae

Thank goodness for the safe drive AND to find your home safe as well. It takes a consumate professional to place your worries on the back burner for the time being, put on your ‘game face’, and do your job on air. I think no one would have faulted you if you had decided to stay at home and not take the risk. Now that we have a happy ending THANK YOU so much for being there this morning. But then again, we have come to expect NOTHING but the best from you.

  20. Sharon Santourian-Holman

So good to hear you were safe and no damage to your home. Thank you both for coming in for the show and what a great show it was. Your Linea ladies have learned so much from you and we look good!

  21. Barbara in Virginia

We are all relieved that the damage to your home and grounds was not what it might have been. Thanks be to God!!!!! I know the girls will be thrilled to see you, and you, them. Thanks again for the extraordinary lengths both you and Jac go to bring your superb designs to us. You are without peer!!!! Warm hugs to all of you, including the girls. As always, Barbara

  22. Quendiva

Wow! 2 hours 35 minutes from QVC to your home in CT. A new land speed record! For me, a good trip from Morris County NJ to West Chester is 2 hours 15 minutes. I make the trip often as DS attends the University there. It must have been wonderful to have the Turnpikes and highways all to yourselves! Have a relaxing evening and thank you for your effort to bring us your collection, even with such awful timing. Irene is no match for Linea!

  23. Deb a/k/a jazz

Whew! That’s great news! I must say what a “pro” you, your wife and the models are. You were all so composed despite all you had gone through to get there. You know you’re appreciated right?

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Deb,
I know and I appreciate it very much….it’s the reason I do what I do….best regards, Louis

  24. Sonia

Thank you, Louis, for letting us know. I also would have driven home and am relieved to know that after all your trouble on your Linea Ladies’ behalf, you are safe and sound and reunited with your girls.

  25. LauraL

Glad you arrived home safe and sound. I lost power in the storm but all in all not as bad as it could have been. I enjoyed the show and all the ways to wear the clothes. Have 15 items on the way and from the sneak peaks of September – more to come. I would appreciate having the item number for the petite slim pant for the next show. Still looking forward to the V-neck and Mock Neck tops.

  26. Yvonne Shafer

Great news! Can’t thank you enough for the beautiful presentation of the extraordinary clothing! Can’t wait to get my 11 new items (might add a few more when the v-necks show up)! You are the best!

    2greys (formerly shaferbirmingham)

  27. Carol

You don’t know how relieved we are to hear that everyone and everything is safe! It’s insane for anyone to have to risk life and limb and property to get the Linea Ladies their fashion fix! Sorry, but we’re going to be some very happy LL’s in about a week!

    crdlb

  28. Claudia (chprsp)

The best of news! All of us were hoping there’d be little damage.
