SNEAK PEEK #8

“Sneak Peek #8″,

This is the last sneak peak for the Fall 2011 season! There are three items which will be presented on Monday, Dec. 12th on the  PM Style show.

1- A219796, is the faux satin back crepe de chine blouse. This is a new fabric I am introducing. It has the look and hand of a silk crepe de chine but it has a satin back, so the side that is against the skin is satin….like a satin charmeuse. Imagine how wonderful that is going to feel on…..like expensive lingerie. It has a classic shirt collar and stand, a one button cuff, body darts so it isn’t boxy [just skims the body], a curved bottom and the all important fly front. I chose to do this shirt with a fly front to keep the shirt perfectly clean so your jewelry really shows up. This is the perfect shirt for tucking in or wearing out, belted or not. The colors are Ivory, Perfectly Pink, and Black, which is a deep Black! An essential blouse in three  essential colors. This is a piece that has no season and a blouse you will wear the entire year. Of course, it is washable for easy care.

2-A219797, is the vest front cardigan. This is a TOTALLY full fashioned piece. What does that mean? There are many sweaters that are fully fashioned but are finished off at the neckline, sleeve and bottom hems with linked on tubular bands. The shape and finishing of this sweater is entirely knitted on the machine so there are no tubular trims. This cardigan is made just like the V-neck tunic A217985. You can see in the pink photo how the bottom has the drop stitches to create the perfect V. The V neckline is done the same way. This is how many expensive Italian sweaters are made. Is one way better than the other?…..no, it’s simply a matter of which will work better for the design of the garment. I have said it before and it is worth repeating……”if this sweater cost $600, it couldn’t be make any better”. It is in my acrylic/wool yarn, the same yarn and knit as the pencil skirt to come. The colors are Black, Perfectly Pink and Fawn. YES, the  fawn and p. pink work  with the fawn and p. pink pieces you already own…..i.e.. the fawn pant and riding jacket. The black blouse with the fawn cardigan, belted or not, worn under the fawn riding jacket and the black riding skirt or black pant is pure class. Notice in one picture I have the fawn cardigan with black pants and in the other I have it with fawn pants. Also notice the belted black cardigan photo. I left the ivory shirt out, not tucked in, so the bottom V of the cardigan is highlighted. This is the perfect cardigan for wearing right now and  into spring and early summer. For me, it’s another essential, lifetime piece. I can’t emphasize enough the superb quality of this cardigan.

3-A219798, is the 26 inch pencil skirt. This has been a long time customer request!…..and it’s finally here. It is the same acrylic/ wool as the original skirt and in the same every needle rib construction……the only difference is the length. It is something that my tall gals have been pleading for and I think it is the answer for my petite gals who are looking for the perfect boot length longer skirt…..one they won’t have to shorten. I really think it’s a perfect length for all. The colors are the Black, Perfectly Pink and Fawn. If this skirt is as successful as the original skirt….hopefully, I will be able to bring it back in more colors. The care of this skirt is the same as the original skirt. Add this to the “essential list”.

My inspiration for the total “Look”…… the blouse, cardigan and skirt, came from “Hitchcock Heroines”. I can picture Tippi Hendron in “The Birds”, or Eva Maria Saint in “North by Northwest”,  Kim Novak in “Vertigo”. or Grace Kelly in “Rear Window”, wearing these three pieces and looking their famous “Cool Chic”. It’s a timeless look that never looks out of style or dated. It always looks effortless. When I see a woman dressed like this, my first impression is….this is a woman who knows how to look understated and elegant….it is surprisingly sexy……….a few very good pieces of jewelry, beautiful shoes and bag…… and a lot of attitude is all you need.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..Enjoy…………………… Much Love to you, Louis

  3. Deborah

Ok Louis – Are you will to go halfers with me on a closet enlargement?? I love all of these classic styles -have added the cardigan and blouse to me longggggg list. Thank you and Jac both for all of the styling tips I am 60 and feel much more stylish since I found you on the Q! Happy Holidays and I wish you great success in the new year.

  4. Cathy

Oh, Louis, you are a wicked, wicked man, in the nicest, most complimentary way possible LOL! First you get me wanting PYTHONS and now you have me wanting PINK! Okay, I surrender … and I have the greatest idea for Q:

Just make New SKU’s # numbers to match Louis’ Sneak Peeks; each SKU gets you all the garments shown in one of Louis’s Sneak Peeks … might as well make it simple for us all … LOL! We’ll all save a lot of time … this styling is exactly why we love you and your clothing so much … THANK YOU.

Dear Louis, Thank you for bringing so much joy and beauty and style into my life (and into the lives of those around me!) I just turned 50, but I’ve loved the style of the “old” screen sirens since I was a tot and have always tried to collect accessories and styles inspired by that time period. Even my husband is from that time period, LOL!!!

Question: Does the perfectly pink charmeuse satin backed blouse (that’s a mouthful) coordinate with the perfectly pink pearl trimmed jacket from earlier this fall? Thank you!

    1. louisdellolio

Yes, all perfectly pink garments will work together…..but….there is always a but……since these fabrics are all different and come from all different companies and are dyed at different times, there will always be a slight variation even though they are all given the same standard to match, this can not be helped. Even with the most expensive fabrics and the best European mills can’t guarantee a perfect match from cloth to cloth, season to season. ALL that said, they will all work together……Louis

  6. Carmille

Wow, I just about passed out when I first laid eyes on this Sneak Peak 8. Really! That cardigan and blouse are must haves – the design of the cardi is spectacular! Beautiful Louis! I believe Grace Kelly or Kim Novac would wear this look – and now I will too! And thanks for the skirts to match. What a statement this will be!

  7. Soldout

    Hello Louis:

I definitely want this outfit for business!! I can’t wait and thank you sooo much for the longer length knit skirt. What will be on the December 9th show?

    Lol,

    Soldout

    1. louisdellolio

I have not gotten the final script yet so I’m not sure. There are still too many styles for a one hour show so I don’t yet now how this is going to be handled.
      ………………regard, Louis

  8. Yvonne Shafer

All I can say is thank you to Louis and Jac and Merry Christmas to me! My husband’s gift shopping is getting done all at once during the Linea shows! What an outstanding collection, Louis. You’ve done it again (and again and again)!

  9. LauraL

Wow – I thought I was safe and was only going to do the blouse and the skirt. Now that I have seen the cardigan – what is a girl to do —- SHOP!!!!!!!!!!

Love it all but it did nothing to shorten my list – but rather it was elongated.

Thanks for getting the sneak peak in before I left again for Germany. I have my list all ready – just need to check sizing at midnight and place orders on each day.

By the way received my beautiful jewelry (ordered one of each piece) just now and love it. I will write reviews up before I go.

Once again – thank you for your time and beautiful designs. The sneek peaks have been invaluable and have increased the amount I am buying.

    Laura

  10. Nancy "smilesalot"

    Dear Louis,
You’ve done it again! That sweater and blouse — well OH MY GOODNESS! I truly didn’t think I’d need so many new clothes this year.. but you’ve made it impossible to resist.

Thanks for offering us so many beautifully tailored clothes!

  11. Sherry

I’m in my mid 50’s; but, not a movie buff. Don’t know who/what these movie stars are/look like. BUT, if this is how they dressed…I’m in…sign me up…pick a star. This is so much my style…I can hardly stand it.

I agree with everyone else; how many ways can we express our appreciation for your brillance? I don’t understand the Q wanting to hold you back. Just doesn’t make since, when there’s money to be made and customers to make happy.

I’ll be at the ready with my Christmas list and computer when the shows come on.

    Patiently waiting,
    Sherry in KS

  12. Victoria

Egads! How many times can one tell you…you’re brilliant Louis? And, perhaps its just our generation, but all of your allusions to particular movie stars and their iconic outfits resonate so completely! The brain rush says “I WANT IT ALL:))”. I am smiling because you are one of QVC’s best kept incredible secrets. Thus one is caught…wanting to keep you to ourselves, but then wanting the QVC world to understand what is meant by a “REAL WOMEN’S DESIGNER”…there are many “pretenders to the throne” on QVC!

Also many thanks to the beautiful Jac…who as a gorgeous model and your wife/muse shares her personal style as the iconic beautifully dressed woman with attitude …and a great heart!

We are lucky lambs to be in your fashion sightline!

    Thanks Louis!

  13. Deb a/k/a jazz

You sure know how to “sneak peek” a girl into a frenzy!

  14. Barbara in Virginia

Louis, You are killing me!!! The last sneak was torture and now you are doing me in!!! How can I not want it all? And thanks so much for persisting with the longer skirts. They will just cover my knees and will be perfect with either pumps or knee high boots. I just hope that they will fly out of inventory and you can add more colors. Of course I need the blouses in all three colors and the cardi in two. And these added to what is already on my list from the other sneaks?!! Oh, well, I’ve already told Old Grumpy to not shop for a thing for me for Christmas :-). As always, Barbara

PS- Don’t know which heroine I would most resemble, but I would take looking like any of them in a heartbeat :-).

  15. MH-MN

Diane Baker as Lil in “Marnie,” here. (There is a terrible shortage of parts for brunettes in Hitchcock films and I refuse to be the besotted evil housekeeper in “Rebecca.”)

But I digress. I’m writing to thank you so very much for persisting with QVC to offer us a longer version of the iconic knit skirt. And the cardigan! And the blouse! Oh, my!

I could not have dreamed of more beautiful outfits than those you’ve shown in Sneak Peek #8. Here’s to a sell-out and many happy reorders in many colors. You are the best!

  16. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

I’m in love with it all and want it all!!! – I have no idea how I’m going to decide what to get! Everything matches the pieces I already have. Just gorgeous, Louis – you’ve outdone yourself AGAIN!

  17. Pat

My 2 daughters are going to have a wonderful Christmas! They’re getting sweaters from Louis’s collection. The colors I’ve chosen for them is the aubergine(turtleneck) and grey (crew neck). I wanted to give them something special and I only had to look to Louis to provide it. Thank YOu, Louis. And I’ll be tuned in to the Dec.show.

  18. Judy S.

These are so beautiful, and I am delighted to have more pink and fawn to go with my other pieces. The blouse is so deceptively simple and gorgeous. Thank you, Louis, for your beautiful designs, inspired styling, and unmatched accessibility.

    Judy

P.S. As for me, I’m Kim Novak in Vertigo all the way!

  19. Chris/Jazzmom

Great blouses!! Love the looks!! Can you believe its already December??
    Regards to you and Jac,
    Chris

  20. Sherry

Who wouldn’t want to look like that?

  21. Cheri

Louis, I have been looking for washable wool trousers with elastic in the back (I am an apple shape) all over the place. Would you consider making a pair in washable wool or even a wool blend. I love all of your clothes because they are classic and my mother always told me to go for the classic never the fads. Also you have taylored clothing which I love as I am not ruffles and frilly type dresser.
Thank you for your lovely clothing and for considering this request.

    Cheri

    1. louisdellolio

      Dear Cheri,
I want to be totally honest with you. I doubt very much if I could find a washable wool that #1 I could afford for QVC and #2 would be the quality I would consider using at the price I could afford. Let me just say wools at the price I would need are usually reprocessed and inferior. I think the rayon/poly.span blends are much nicer. Also, QVC is not big on wool bottoms because the audience for them is very limited. However, if I should by some miracle , come across a nice one I will definitely show it to my buyers……regards, Louis

  22. Mary

    Wow. It’s everything I love.

Please tell me that gold chain necklace is a future offering.

    1. louisdellolio

If you are referring to the gold chain on the pink sweater….that is a vintage Anne Klein piece. At this point there are n’t any plans to continue with the Linea jewelry…..if the situation changes I will let you know……sorry, Louis

      1. Mary

Thank you. I can’t believe how quickly you answer my questions!

I love the classics, and that is a beauty.

  23. Pecan Cookie

Ditto on the cardigan, blouse, AND skirt. Awesome photos, Louis. You are killing me softly…

    1. Deb a/k/a jazz

PC–LOL on the killing me softly!

  24. Anonymous

    Louis,
Just when we think we have enough, you kick it up a notch with something new! Love how these innovative pieces will go with everything we already have. Can’t wait-

    Celia

  25. Chris

That v neck cartigan is mine!!!
    Thank you Louis

  26. Nancy

Thank you again Louis for these WONDERFUL previews. They allow us to get an in-tight close look at details of the garment and fabrication which just isn’t possible on TV or the internet site. What an extra added bonus these previews provide! LOVE seeing how you have styled the garments up close and your descriptions are extremely helpful!

  27. louisdellolio

That’s the idea!………Which Hitchcock Heroine are you? I left a few out..

    1. kate

I’m going with Joan Fontaine in ‘Suspicion’!

      1. louisdellolio

Joan and Cary…..that was a good one….forgot about that one, and yes the look is very Joan Fontaine.

  28. kate

Cardigan in all three colors? Check. Blouse in all colors (love the black). Check. What a fabulous Monday morning off to work look (by which I mean a total no-brainer!)
