“TOPAZ/BLACK STRIPE MAXI DRESS”

stripe8

…………………..All STRIPES are NOT EQUAL……….Such is the case with the new printed…..STRIPE MAXI DRESS above………..This is an ENGINEERED PRINT which was created to flatter the body…yes, I said FLATTER…..Can you use the words STRIPE DRESS and SLENDERIZING in the same sentence???…..in this case YES…… The angle of the stripes and the BLACK TRIANGLES that intersect the stripes were done to do exactly that…..SLENDERIZE. Stripes done on the diagonal ELONGATE which is always a good thing…and the print actually camouflages rather then accentuates…None of the negative aspects one might have about wearing stripes applies when stripes are done this way…………The Maxi dress will be avail. in TWO LENGTHS!…..A265610 is for the regular length, and A295611 is for the petite length. I do not have the information about exactly what the lengths are……..The fabric of the dress is a 95% poly/ 5% Span blend. It has a lovely feel and weight. It is not flimsy or thin, and for me, it feels very expensive. The tank neckline and armhole are piped for a clean finish. This fabric does NOT CLING, and is easy care. ……practically wash and wear…….great for travel…..I think the fit on this dress is exactly what it should be, and I would suggest ordering your size because the fabric has lots of stretch.  The dress fit is easy enough so you do not want to size up or it may  be too big. The size range will be offered from XXS to 3X………….This dress is a pull on dress and has no zipper. There is plenty of room at the bottom for a good stride….no slits necessary. I realize that this dress is not for everyone and not for all body shapes, but that does not mean large women can’t wear this successfully.  I’m sure there will be a lot of discussion about it, but if you think it could be for you…..give it a try….you may be pleasantly surprised…Something to think about….we did many fittings on this dress to make sure the stripes hit the body at the right place. Likewise we made sure the armholes were not too big because there is a lot of stretch to the fabric. If you have a large chest and you find the armhole too big…it may not be the armhole, but your chest that is pulling it forward…..just something to consider….The color above is……………….TOPAZ/BLACK……………..The TIGER/ZEBRA Cardigan, A265612, [depending on the coloration], is a sneak peek and will be coming in July as we start to offer a more transitional wardrobe……but I wanted to show how much fun mixing patterns can be when done well…………….For those of you who are less adventurous I have the WK SHRUG, A232520, in TOBACCO, BLACK and IVORY…..and they ALL work with the Topaz/Black dress……..and the new WK BOLERO too……My basic BLACK WK CARDIGAN will work too….just push the sleeves up for a more relaxed attitude…..When I design jewelry I don’t think about the pieces just coordinating with the clothes being offered the same season….but how they will work with clothes you already own, and how they will work in the future. Tobacco, Sienna, Topaz, Terracotta, Clay etc. are colors that I often gravitate to so they repeat from time to time, and I often do jewelry in those tones. The jewelry you bought in the past to work with a certain outfit will never be outdated, and  will always be a welcome and useful  piece in your Linea Jewelry collection. The hammered link and multi color bead necklace that I did a few seasons ago became the perfect necklace to accessorize the Ombre print tunic in Peacock, Fuchsia and Flame from this season………………..Such is the case with the jewelry I have chosen to accessorize with this Topaz dress. At the lower left are my AMBER pieces [called golden brown on the QVC Linea site]. The ENDLESS round disc necklace, J278131, the shorter  overlapping OVAL Disc necklace J278132, the coordinating earring, J278133, and the wide stretch cuff, J278134 are given a new life when worn perfectly with this dress. These pieces have just the right combination of TRIBAL and MODERN………For an alternative The ORGANIC BEAD and RING necklace in the ROOT BEER and GUNMETAL combination, J317652, with the CHAIN HOOP EARRING  in the GM color, J267610, are another great option………Don’t ever be in the situation where you have the right clothes, but not the right accessorizes to make the finished look wonderful. It makes a huge difference…………………………………..enjoy…………………………much Love…………………………..Louis

    Louis,

When will these dresses be available for ordering? hoping the neckline isn’t too low.

    Thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

They will be on my June 4th show. If you aren’t too large on top, you could wear it backwards.

  2. Saphira

    This is stunning, simply stunning.

Well, I’m going to surprise you, Louis: I’m ordering this dress in the topaz coloration, not the moss green! A greenie has to step outside her Crayola box sometimes! I have always loved the combination of mid-tone browns with black and this design is fabulous!–Blinddogs

OMG…..they have to lift me off of the floor!….but I know what you mean about browns, tobaccos etc and black….it’s always been one of my favorites.

Will the tobacco WK shrug match the topaz?

    1. louis dell'olio

They blend very well. It’s not a 100% match, but they are in the same family and can be worn together

This dress is perfection! I don’t know how you do it Louis, but you give us women exactly what we want/need. The topaz/black print is the one calling my name. I have many of your jewelry pieces that will work well. Now the hard part is the wait. Oh, and I have to have the cardigan too! Thank you for your designs and the sneak peaks.

    Dear Louis,

Could you explain exactly what an engineered print is? I’ve heard you say the ombré tops are also engineered prints. Looking at this dress, I’m thinking my tiger eye pieces would be perfect for it as my skin cannot tolerate fashion jewelry. Also, thanks for the larger bust fit tip.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Rochelle….I see my answer didn’t get posted! An engineered print is designed to fit within the garment pattern. In the case of this dress the black triangles and the striped were placed on the pattern and that is how the fabric was printed so each and every dress looks the same. Since there are so many sizes avail at QVC this is a very costly endeavor. Believe me when my manufacturer sees I’m planning an engineered print she shakes her head because a lot more work is involved. A random print, such as a polka dot is much easier to cut. The pattern pieces are placed any which way and fit in closer together so there is less consumption of fabric. This is a much faster and easier way to manufacturer a garment. I am always surprised at the reasonable prices we can achieve for these garments considering the work involved.

Well now, THIS is my idea of a dress! Aren’t the best things simple, no fuss. Just put it on and knock ’em out.

How would it look with the long Black jet necklace and earrings for evening? That way, if you wanted to get two dresses, it would work for both?

    1. louis dell'olio

      Absolutely!

  9. Sheesh

Good Lord, this is gorgeous! I have to have this and the Black/White—LOVE!

  10. Luvitorleaveit

Looks like I have to make more space in my closet I love the topaz/black and the moss/black can’t decide which but I am so glad they went back to letter sizing. The tiger/zebra cardigan is a home run too!

  11. Deirdre

Louis, I love this dress in topaz. I prefer it with the higher neckline in front. Am I correct that it could be worn either way — with the u-neck or the high neck? Thanks. Can’t wit to th this one.

    1. louis dell'olio

Dear Deirdre….I checked the dress on my form, and the dress looks good reversed, but I wouldn’t guarantee that it will on everyone depending on their size and body shape.

  12. louis dell'olio

Dear Seka…..I know you will enjoy your dresses. If I remember correctly you are one of my Canadian gals….correct? You must have a very exclusive wardrobe since Linea doesn’t get shipped there anymore.

    1. Seka

Yes, Louis, you are correct! I am a Canadian! But i became ‘addicted’ to Linea while working and living in the U.S. (New Jersey) – and am continually grateful to Loren for helping me with getting my Linea to Canada!

And also YES – I (and several Family Members) have very exclusive wardrobes – we always get compliments!

BTW – my Aqua Glass Necklace has already shipped – now will be waiting for the Q to post the Ivory/Black Dress!
