……………….”BOLD BANDING”……….Contrast bold banding became a very STRONG message on the Spring 1992 collection……Whether it was a trim on a low back sweater worn by Yasmeen, or bands on a pleated skirt as in the center sketch, and the actual skirt on the right…..or black bands on a tailored elongated Jacket with all of the BELLS & WHISTLES at the far right……..Banding also worked on a more delicate IVORY WAVE jacket, and SKIRT in the photo at the upper center………BANDING was the EXCLAMATION POINT on many of my designs.

……………BOLD BANDING worked just as well in COLOR with BLACK…..as it did in it’s truest form of BLACK & IVORY…..sometimes adding a spot of color, as the pink leather weskit on CHRISTY, helped to make the contrast even stronger….Christy is wearing it all with a BLACK T SHIRT, and black sheer legs……..Yasmeen, on the left is wearing an elongated PINK & BLACK jacket with bold banding over an Ivory U-neck dress, also with bold black banding…….These were not clothes for the timid! These were clothes for powerful women!

…………..” THE WAVE”……was a detail I created for jackets, tops, skirts and dresses. Each style line for each garment was hand drawn on the muslin while Jac was wearing it to make sure the placement and the “look” was correct……Christy, at the extreme left, is wearing a three piece crepe outfit….all bordered in BLACK…..The Pink elongated jacket is worn over the Wave shell which has a wavy neckline and bottom hem. She’s wearing it over a Pink skirt with a black border at the hem…..At the top center is Yasmeen in the solid wave crepe jacket over an Ivory crepe Wave dress…..Below her is Christy in the solid Black Wave crepe dress version………At the extreme right, Ludmila is wearing the elongated, buttonless wave jacket in Lilac crepe, over a solid Wave Black crepe shell and an Ivory crepe skirt with a Wave hemline bordered in black crepe…….Bold contrast borders became an important message on the Spring 1992 collection.

………………I have always loved ALL different types of BOUCLE fabrics. The different textures, mixtures of yarns to create different effects, and thicknesses are endless…..For my Spring 1992 collection I dyed this fine, and light weight BOUCLE in many colors of the collection……here are four of them…..On the left Yasmeen in the Pink boucle jacket with the pink georgette pleated skirt which has a satin band at the bottom……Christy in the Lilac boucle jacket over the matching pleated skirt…..Ludmila in the Mint boucle jacket, again over the pleated georgette skirt with the satin border…..and at the extreme right, Ludmila in the Lime Boucle jacket and skirt……Fortunately, I was even able to find some beautiful boucle fabrics for my Linea QVC collection. I had to constantly search for new boucle fabrics as the prices kept going up from one year to the next….but I always managed to find beautiful fabrics I could afford……Of course at Anne Klein price was never an issue!
