“ILLUSTRATIONS FOR THE SPRING 1992 ANNE KLEIN COUTURE COLLECTION”

………………Doing more elaborate illustrations of imaginings of what the Spring 1992 collection could look like was great fun. Of course not everything became a reality, but I still could imagine them coming to life, and strutting down a runway on the SUPERS!!

“THE WAVE SKETCHES BROUGHT TO LIFE”

…………………..You have seen the croquis, and illustrations……..here are a few examples of the WAVE  sketches brought to life for my Anne Klein Spring 1992 collection……From left to right….The pink wave button front long jacket on Christy with the black contrast banding, worn over a “Wave” shell with black trim, and a pencil skirt also banded in black……all made in an Italian fine wool crepe…..At the top center, Yasmeen wearing a solid black “Wave” wool crepe buttonless jacket over an ivory wool crepe sleeveless Wave dress….Below is Christy in the same Wave dress in black crepe…….and to the right a wisteria Wave buttonless jacket banded in black over a solid black Wave sleeveless crepe top, and an ivory Wave skirt with a black contrast banded hem…….The WAVE detail does not have a time frame or denote a period in time…….Though all of these styles are over 30 years old…….they are timeless and could all be worn today.

“THE SLING SHOT”

…………….When I was a kid we all had “SLING SHOTS”……My brothers made them! We used to shoot them at squirrels, birds….anything that moved!….we were BAD!!…..Honestly, I was such a bad shot I never hit anything, but I must admit it was fun trying…..My mom and dad used to take them away from us, because they were afraid we would shoot each other’s eyes out!!!………….When I started drawing these tops memories of my sling shot came back to me…….funny the things we think of……..so I called these my “Sling Shot” tops!….These Resort 1988 croquis show the “use of a “sling shot” designed for the front and back….even for a knit dress as the white and black sketch in the center……I think the all knit sketches are self explanatory.

“HOW BARE CAN YOU GO?”

…………How bare can you go?…….The answer to the question…..”How bare can you go?”….is simple…..it depend on your body……..The more bare you go the more of a beautiful well proportioned body you must have without the risk of looking vulgar…..If the body of the individual is less then perfect than bare has to be strategically placed to complement the body……If only all would follow these rules!……In the croquis sketches there are all degrees of bareness……some extreme…….other less so, but there is something for everyone.

“GIDDY UP!”

……………..Western themes were always fun to work on!…….There was so much history and research material to draw from. Of course leather or suede fringe was a MAJOR DETAIL!……From left to right at the bottom is a suede “Barn Jacket” with leather fringe inserted into the sleeves and across the back yoke…..The curved besom pockets with the triangular pieces of leather at both ends was also a popular western detail……The chamois suede vest over leather pants with side seam long leather fringe had a western shirt with a string tie to finish the look….The fringed gloves just brought the “fringe message” home……The chamois suede strapless dress had self suede fringe down both side seams….The matching boots also had fringe down the sides…..great for “two stepping”…..Below the dress is the dress again with a fringed Chamois suede bolero…..The sketches to the extreme right are of jackets in gaberdine or wool twill. The fitted shirt jacket with shirt sleeves had a matching midi skirt with leather fringe down the sides….The seven button jewel neck jacket with the patch breast pockets and shirt sleeves was made in a soft Napa leather. The seamed skirt matched was in matching leather and the boots had fringe down the sides…The large felt hat had a leather strap with silver conches…….”GIDDY UP LITTLE DOGGIE”
