When do you and Jac leave for the UK? Just thinking, will you be taking all the accessories with you as you do for our shows? That will be some extra luggage and weight. So much to keep up with all the time, and then be out of the States too. If they have any smarts at all over there, your items will be sold out and the ladies will be begging for more. Just as long as we get first dibs on everything (just kidding…really).
Louis,
I have the Turq/aqua Shantung slacks from several seasons ago…are you aware if your pebble crepe top in aqua might work with those slacks which are a deeper tone of the aqua…also would the pebble crepe texture work with the Shantung?..There wasn’t a matching tank or jacket in my size at the time at the time I purchased the pants. I have found several tees in Aqua that blend…but this top might work…I have no pebble crepe items…I bought the wrong size initially and had to send them back.
Thanks
Dear Victoria….sorry it has taken so long to get back to you but I no longer have those samples so I really don’t know if they are the same, but I do not think they are. I think the shantung was more robins ege blue and the aquamarine has more green….but I’m not sure.
I forgot to mention, I am in NYC. Thanks
Hello Louis:
I have your velvet slim skirt and matching top with the sheer yoke and sleeves in the dark purple/grape color. This set was from 2009. Is it appropriate to wear velvet to a luncheon at the end of this month?
Thanks,
Soldout
I really think it totally depends on the weather. It will officially be spring by then but if the weather is winter like I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t. After March it would be a little late for velvet…
Thank you!
Louis–
I am relatively new to your Linea line, but I have already purchased several beautiful pieces and look forward to seeing what you will be bringing out this Spring.
I am writing to BEG you to bring back your V-Neck Animal Print Top (A214114)which appears to be discontinued. I purchased one last year in the brown/black print, and it is absolutely wonderful. I believe it was also a Customer Top Rated item, so others must have loved it as much as I did. I hope it will return some day….
Thank you!
Dear Laura,
The Cheetah print top and the Cheetah print jacket are both coming back on my April show in all colors….plus the new Perfectly Pink in both style, which looks very chic……………regards, Louis
Louis –
Thank you! You have made my day!! I will be ordering in every color.
Do you know the date(s) of your April show?
Laura
No, not yet.
will you be selling the red belt, red beads and other jewelry shown?
I love your clothes. they always fit, no returns, excellent vale, fab design, and they look good on me. That is why Iam a repeat customer.
Hi Jackie,
I’m very happy to hear you have been happy with the clothing you have received. Unfortunately, I will not be selling any of the accessories in the photos.
Louis, thank you for your answer. The accessories you show with your clothes really add to the outfits. I have searched QVC for similar colorful belts and necklaces but found nothing as classy as you show on your web site. I will be watching your upcoming show and will be ready to buy!
Jackie
Dear Louis, I’m just catching up with all news Linea, since returning several days ago from a nearly 3-week road trip, kicking off my husband’s recent retirement. I’m surprised to read here that the Q did not order a new color (NAVY!) in the WK V-neck. Out of your control, but I want you to know that V-neck in 3 colors saved me on our road trip. I was SO hoping for a Navy as well. So easy to pack, and warm without being hot. We went from the heat of Mexico to the snowy chill of the Az. mountains, and I packed nearly all Linea. (couldn’t find any Linea shoes!) From your olive crops with sage safari georgette blouse/tank,(worn with 80″ strand turquoise, doubled, this was an especially big hit), bohos, WK tanks, tees, etc to the V-necks and slim pants, I always felt confident to look my best for the many different events packed in to the trip. And of course the hours in the car! My husband says about 4,000 miles total. That’s where your new wide leg pants (love!) and medallion/baby cheetah/hydrandgia, with the loden jacket (full length coat for me) at the ready, came in handy. Wanted to thank you for making our trip WONDERFUL by providing such interesting and beautiful clothing items–at a price we can afford and still be able to travel. We are headed back East in the Fall for another road trip, this time to N.C. Thanks again for the gift of easy packing and looking great. You’re the best! Congrats to you and Jac on the UK gig. They’ll love you! Sincerely, Sandi (and Jim, CPA ret.)
Love the new maxi dress but I don’t show my upper arms. Is there any chance you could give us a hint of what the colors are going to be in the upcoming shrug??
Thanks!!
Dear Bernadine,
The shrug is coming in Black, Reef Green and Violet. The only one that matches is the black, however I personally love the Reef Green with the Chartreuse dress and even though the Violet shrug is a different color from the Orchid dress, I like them together……they are like exotic flower colors from nature. I am sure if it doesn’t match exactly, some won’t get it…..but I like things mix matched. Not everything in one’s closet is going to match so you have to be creative with colors…..if you believe it looks good together and you pick the right accessories to pull it together, others will like your choices too. I like it better than wearing black over everything……regards, Louis
Thanks for the info!! Sounds like the green will be coming home to me!!
The violet will be coming my way too.:)
Hello Louis! Very excited for the upcoming show. I was wonder if the yellow Pucci-inspired top coordinate with the new chili boho skirt?
Thanks for all you do.
Judy S. in Massachusetts
Dear Judy,
Off the top of my head I would say no. I do not have the chili pepper skirt sample yet as it isn’t arriving until July. Chilli pepper looks exactly what it sounds like a spicy red and there isn’t any red in the yellow top. If it can be worn as a contrast bottom is something I would have to see first, but again, I don’t think so……………..Louis
Hi Louis!
I have several unrelated questions….
1. In the fall collection you brought us a shorter length slim-leg pant. I had to lengthen them (of course!), but once I did that I fell in love – so much so that I purchased duplicates. I see that this style is carrying over into spring, in bright colors. Will we see anything like that for spring (red? cobalt? kelly green?) Any chance they’ll be reordered for Fall – in more colors? (A217972)
2. I have seen several designers doing a sleeveless jacket for spring and it looks very chic in black and white. Anything coming like that?
3. I know you’ve heard this from many of the ladies, but it continues to come to light every week as I work my wardrobe…The v-neck and 3/4 sleeve boatneck whisper knit sweaters have the most amazing and flattering fit. I have reached for a black in the 3/4 often, and would love to request that if you get to do a new color. For the v-neck, I have found myself needing navy. Also, in any of the whisper knits, I would like to plant a ‘color seed’. In the ‘Denim’ leopard print jacket, the lightest/brightest blue in this print is simply gorgeous! (A83571)
Thanks for listening! 🙂
Susan
Dear Susan,
I’m a little confused by question #1. I did do a slim leg gabardine pant this fall in black, olive and fawn but I am not repeating it for summer, or are you talking in general you are seeing this type of sli9m leg in colors? I am not doing any pants in colors other than neutral colors….white, navy and black.
2- No sleeveless jackets……they cost almost the same as a jacket with sleeves. I am very limited in the amount of new styles I can bring to you so I prefer to do a jacket with sleeves. If I had no limits I do like them and have done them at Anne Klein…..everything repeats itself.
The v-neck sweater is being reordered in the WK but they are bringing back just the old colors? I wanted new but they decided to keep the old??What can I tell you….there are still lots of women who missed out the first time around.
Louis do you still design Men’s suits..I’m in NY
No, when Mr Syms passed away, I stopped doing suits for the company and I’m not sure if the stores are still open. They were supposed to have suits coming in until June, but since I no longer do business with them I really don’t know what is going on.
Louis and Jac,
Our friend Yarnaholic from the forum is getting married this coming Thursday, March 8. She said in one of the threads that she is planning on wearing your wood block top in black for the ceremony. That inspired me to create a Virtual Wedding Reception for her on the Linea Forum inviting everyone to “wear” their Linea items. It’s been fun and, of course, being virtual we can wear the high heels we might not be able to sport today, eat and drink whatever we please, and dance til dawn. It’s just for fun but also to send Yarnie our best wishes. Hope you and Jac check it out. By the way, I believe someone spotted you giving away the bride and Jac surrounded by paparazzi.
Take care,
Julia/Qulia
Sounds like a lot of fun……send her our best wishes!
Louis,
Thank you for all of the wonderful clothes you bring us. I am a devoted fan! Can you let me know if there will be a reorder of the A221815 pull on pants? I got the olive and espresso in my size and am just desperate for the navy and black. These are the most versatile, comfortable, and figure flattering pants that I have ever owned.
Dear Cassie,
I would love to say yes, but it all depends on the return rate and it usually takes 3 months to find out the final result. Then when we get the reorder, if we get the reorder, it takes 7 to 8 months to get it to QVC…….so the answer to your question is….I have no idea and it will be quite a while before I do…..keep checking for returns. Are you on wait list?…..regards, Louis
Louis, I have a request. I’ve been seeing skirts that are higher in the front and lower in the back. I think the look is very striking and a little sassy. Would you consider designing such a skirt in the future? Thanks for entertaining our ideas.
Sherry
Dear Sherry,
Since you have asked me the question I will always give you my honest answer. I really dislike those “high/low” skirts and I think they will be dated and out in a HOT second….not that I even think they are in. I much prefer maxi skirts that were on many runways in all types of fabrics and styles, but always with even hems. I have not seen a high/low skirt on one major designer’s line and I have seen every new fall show from NY, London, Italy and Paris…..not one high low skirt to be seen. I think they are very gimmicky and women who own them will soon tire of them. Of course, that is just my opinion, but as I said I have not seen one walk down any MAJOR or minor runway……………regards, Louis
That’s why I asked, because you do give honest answers. Your designs allow us to look our best in a timeless fashion without ever looking outdated. Thanks for your quick reply.
Louis,
I’m thinking of getting both pink and blue in the new Pucci top. Will the new Pucci top in red go with the new red crepe skirt? Also, would the pebble crepe pants in white work with the blue top with the navy crepe blazer over this top? I see in your sneak peek you have it styled with white pants and I was wondering if the pebble crepe white would be a good match since they are the only white pants you have available now or would the textures be off? I’m pretty sure both will go with the new jeans in white. Can’t wait to see you and Jac later this month.
Julia (Quila)
Dear Julia, YES, YES and YES to all of your questions with one caveat. The red crepe blazer and skirt works perfectly with the pink/red print top.An ivory jacket the print top and the red skirt looks great and visa versa. The navy blazer with the blue looks great and I do like the white P,C. pant with it, however, the pant is a very di9fferent type of fabric. It is very relaxed and casual and might not be one’s first choice….that is exactly the reason I like it! The new white and indigo jeans, of course, will be perfect…..and the cotton sateen pant coming in April in navy and white will also be perfect…………….regards, Louis
Thanks, Louis! I have been meaning to order the pebble crepe pants in white and this gave me the needed nudge. I’ll try them with the blue jacket and see how they work together. I have the boho in the new chambray so it looks like the blue Pucci is definitely on my list. As soon as my red skirt arrives and I see how it fits, I’ll make my decision on the pink. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you again for all you do. Being able to consult with a real designer is amazing. When I wear your clothes I know I look good and that makes me feel good. I feel so lucky to have found you on QVC…Julia
Louis,
I just thought of something I wanted to ask you to consider putting your own spin on. In the early 70s’ I bought a black cashmere and wool shirtwaist dress from Saks Fifth Avenue on Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills. It is one of my favorite dresses ever…it has an easy skirt, no bulk at the waist, the top had a placket to hide the buttons, stand collar and long sleeves with a narrow cuff and two buttons. I wore it mostly with black boots, 3 inch black belt and lots of gold at my neck and wrists..That dress could take you anywhere…I would love a shirtwaist in a fabulous fall/winter fabric…very simple
Thanks
Louis, I couldn’t help but notice the sweater like print of SOMETHING peeking through the denim sneak peek. Is that a new sweater? I LOVE your sweaters. Whisper knit, wool blend, your sweaters are lightweight but warm and quite versatile. Will that item be a sneak peek on its own? Can’t wait to see your presentations from the UK!
All the best – and THANK YOU!
Dear Susie…..that is the Hydrangea print t-shirt from last spring that has been reordered in all colors for this March show. Large floral prints were just starting to show up on a few runways last spring, but this year there is an explosion of large florals from almost every designer here and in Europe, in every type of garment. Floral patterns, come spring, always show up, but this year my Hydrangea T-shirt, pencil skirt and blazer are hotter than even last year……regards, Louis
The Hydrangea’s will return?? Fantastic! I have and love the butter skirt, but my waitlist for the top (I misjudged sizes) eventually was cancelled. Wonderful news! Now I’m also considering the navy…
Hi,
See the march dates – do you think you will have the gorgette tank & shirt outfit then?
Missed it last year & seems to have wonderful reviews.
thanks & good luck in UK.
If I remember correctly the tank and georgette safari blouse is slated for April.
Dear Louis,
Just had to drop you a quick note to let you know my Woodblock Tops came today, in all 3 colors, and I couldn’t be more delighted! These tops are so gorgeous, and the perfect antidote to winter; I’m so glad I got all 3 colors as each one has such a different feel/mood, and look fantastic with the PB Crepe straight skirt in Sand (also in the packages today), or will once I shorten the skirt 🙂 These are colors I don’t EVER do in my wardrobe, and are like a summer breeze; I’m sure the skirt and at least one top will be rolled in the corner of my suitcase all summer and early fall.
THANK YOU!
Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy,
I am so happy you like you tops as much as I did making them. It is very gratifying when something you loved working on comes out exactly as you envisioned it and then it is received well. Please make sure to post your comments on the Linea site……I would suggest when you shorten your skirt to wear the top with it to see if the skirt needs to be tapered a bit so it doesn’t look to wide at the bottom. You want to go for a lean look….since it has a big slit, you can afford to have it tapered when shortened, but that you will see better when it is on.
Oh, thanks for the tips, Louis. My mother was a world class seamstress (no, I didn’t inherit THAT talent LOL), and she insisted all pieces be worn together for alterations, WITH the proper shoes!!! She was also known to threaten pin sticks if we didn’t stand still during fittings, although she never carried out her threat; the threat was enough for us LOL.
My treat today, just in time by total coincidence, was the arrival of 2 vintage Anne Klein long necklaces from the Bay. One is a long strand of faux freshwater pearls, interspersed with matte gold melon beads and little “flying saucer” beads in ivory and blush colors; the other is a long snake chain with a big textured gold circle pendant with three little geometric dangles in ivory; they both look PERFECT with the tops; I’m off to play dress up 🙂
Thanks again,
Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy….the pearl necklace with varied beads sounds very familiar. If you don’t mind me asking did you get it on the Anne Klein Jewelry site or another?
Louis,
No, I just typed in a search for Vintage Anne Klein, as I usually do when stalking fishes), and these two came up from a private seller, at a downright bargain as I was the only bidder, probably due to terrible photos. The pearl one couldn’t look nicer with the Terracotta Woodblock, and the other one looks great with all 3, and you can ask me anything 🙂
Cathy in PA
Hi, Louis! Do you have the dates and times of your shows in the UK? We will be able to watch online :-). Have a wonderful time there and on your mini-vacation. Thanks! Barbara
Hi Barbara,
I had to check on the exact times. I will be on March 20th at 1:00pm and 9:00pm UK time. Both are one hour shows. They do not have all of the styles that the US bought……for instance they have the blazer with the signature buttons in navy and red but no ivory……I am sure as the line proves itself, they will purchase more.
Thanks, Louis! Those are hours when I can watch online. We’ll be waving to you from across the pond! Linea will be very well received there, especially with the style being set by the new Duchess of Cambridge. Too bad we can’t call in to cheer you on! But know that we will be with you and Jac in spirit.:-)
Hi Louis, does the georgette floral print ruffle blouse in the red/white work with the red crepe a-line skirt. I also have the red piped ivory jacket from last year. Just didn’t know if the reds would play nice together. Thanks for your help.
Dear Sherry,
I no longer have the sample of the red floral print blouse so I can’t answer all of your question. I can tell you the red piped jacket and the red skirt looks very good together.
Thank you
I happen to have the georgette ruffle blouse in the red color (A89794)and even though its an orange red or tomato red as Louis once called it; it does look good to my eyes with the crepe red skirt. Its not an exact match to the reds, but there is enough going on for people not to point and say,”Look its not a match!, Off with her head!” I liked them together.
Hey, thanks for the input. That’s what I was worried about. I agree the blouse is the orange/red, and Louis had called the crepe red-a true red. I guess that red skirt that’s been calling my name will have to find a way to me now. At least now the “Fashion Police” won’t be after my head, LOL. Thanks, Chris, for your time.
Dear Louis,
I’m dying of curiosity – can you provide some information about the denim items that are coming? Are they trouser jeans? Is there a jacket? Dark denim or light? Wide leg, straight leg, buttons and details?
Work is dull today and I need something to wake me up…
Pictures would be nice. Hint, hint…
Dear Mary,
It is a light weight washed denim, not like you typical heavy cotton denim. There are two items…..a boot cut pant and a 3 button jacket with a special twist. From the front the jacket looks like a shaped blazer with my new gold signature buttons. The sleeve also has working signature buttons and the sleeve has a nice wide facing so it can be unbuttoned and turned back without the lining showing. The special back detail will remain a secret! My lips are sealed. The colors are white, indigo and black. It won’t be on air until the end of March and we aren’t even finished with Feb. yet!
Will there be petite sizes? February is over as far as I am concerned.
No, it is very rare that QVC orders petites from “designer” lines and when they do it is usually a “basic” pant. The denim pant will be very easy to shorten without loosing the look. I think, for the most part, for shorter people less flair is more in proportion…..
Thank You Louis. I am single handedly keeping my seamstress in business with all the hemming and sleeve shortening. I look forward to the sneak peeks.
What will the inseam be on the pant?
(I’m guessing I won’t be able to do my usual trick of attaching wide hem tape to lengthen?)
I’m ready for February to be over too LOL; I think we’re all impatient for winter to be OVER so we can wear our pretty new spring Linea items. SO looking forward to this denim jacket; and it’s LINED??? Being SHORT I LOVE it when you do that wide facing at the wrists so I can turn back that cuff without hemming; I’ll buy every jacket you do like that; Walter says I already have … I’m sure whatever it is, that “special back detail” will be worth the wait!
Thanks,
Cathy in PA
I’m with Mary, as far as I’m concerned it’s March!
I have a question on the sizing, will the pants be numerical sizes or S-M-L sizing? Just thrilled that it’s a boot cut as it’s the most flattering for me. Now I might want the jacket, too…
Dear Kristen,
The pants are S-M-L with a flat zip front, elastic back and have approx. 32 inch inseam with a 1 inch hem.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the quick response. Can’t wait for your next sneek peeks!
I am ordering the black and white pants and jackets and thinking about the indigo. What a tantalizing description! What could possibly be on the back? Hooray for light weight denim and a triple hooray for you, Louis, for always knowing exactly what I want.
When in March? Do we have a date for the show?
We need a sneak peak already, Louis. 🙂 We’re pathetic, yes? LOL
Yippee!!! More pebble crepe. This new two-tiered, hybrid boho…may we have a hint of colors and/or when to expect. So excited for more pebble crepe. Here in Southwest Kansas it gets so hot and earlier each year it seems. I know, I know, it’s a dry heat. But it’s still hot! Many thanks for all you do for us.
Sherry in Ks
p.s. I absolutely adore the tribal cardigans and the wide leg pants….awesome stuff
Hi Louis, I was wondering if A213621, PC Tunic in Aqua is a match to A215166 two tier pull on skirt in Aquamarine??
Thanks.
I’m not Louis, but I do have the tunic and skirt you’re asking about. They match perfectly!
Thank you Yvette…..there will also be a new two long tiered skirt in the PC that also is the exact aquamarine color…..consider it a hybrid Boho.
I’m off to order the PC top as we speak!!! Will also be on the lookout for the new two tiered skirt too!!
Dear Louis,
Great shows on Friday; eagerly anticipating Saturday and the DB Jacket in particular 🙂 WHEN you have time, might you give me your opinion, please? Somehow in the gray dreary pre-dawn light this morning, three gorgeous rays of Woodblock summery sunshine fell into my cart … that’s my story and I”m sticking to it 🙂 So now I need a sand “bottom” piece, and as the PB Crepe Crop pants are long gone, I’m looking at the PB Crepe skirts, both the current long Pebble Crepe Pull On Skirt #221804 and the new shorter, fuller one on the Jan. 27th Sneak Peek #5 shown under the Safari Jacket.
At 5’2″, and a plus pear, the current skirt would be less full but would require shortening, which I can do. The new skirt to come appears to be shorter, but fuller … which do you think will look better with the Woodblock tops?
Thanks so much, Cathy in PA
P.S. You are a true professional and a gentleman … love the DB Trench Jacket. Thanks for ALL the shows this weekend; without those presentations, I might not have been brave enough to order the Woodblock in all 3 colors, and more. Cathy
Dear Cathy,
They both work but if you want to pair it with the woodblock blouse…..for your body type I would stick with the straight skirt even if you may have to shorten it. It you bring it to a tailor you may want them to taper i9t at the bottom for you too…..it’s a slimmer look.
Louis, you are such a dear and a “PRO”– you must have just walked in the door after your drive home from the AM show and you are already here answering our questions.
We loved seeing you on Fri. and Sat– even though the Sat show was a disaster from the perspective of camera work and disjointed presentation by the host. (See threads on the forum) But even with the lousy camera work, I was “enabled” by you and Jac to order the woodblock peasant print blouse in olive (OF COURSE) and espresso. Thanks for all you do for us– Blinddogs
OOPS I meant to say the tribal print peasant blouse.
I knew what you meant! You’re too cute!
Hi Nancy……Jac wants to know…. “WAS I THERE????DID ANYONE SEE ME????” …..LOL. I hate to disappoint all of you, but as you know these things are out of my control……….The good news is… being first on and first out….we got home in record time and the girls were over the moon to see us….I got many kisses!!!
Dear Louis,
Thanks for such a quick answer, despite your long, HECTIC morning 🙂 My hunch was the straight skirt too; in fact, I went ahead and ordered in the Sand, and waitlisted in the Black just in case I get lucky, since I now own the PB Funnel Neck in Terra Cotta and the Boat/Ballet Neck in Coffee Bean, Black and 2 Navy (I LIKE insurance). I’m no stranger to either the tailor OR the sewing machine if necessary …
DEAR JAC: We craned our necks, used our magnifying glasses, put our noses INCHES from the computer screens … and we DID INDEED see you … not enough of you, but … THANK YOU for being there! I went for the DB trench in the safer Chino color; had I been able to see you up front in the white/ivory … maybe … Even though we are as opposite of body types as possible, there is something about the way YOU style and move in the garments that enables me to figure out if something will work for me or if I need to find something else Linea that WILL work. You make a HUGE difference to us. Hug Louis and the girls, and have a great rest of the weekend with THANKS from all of us!
Cathy in PA
Cathy in PA
Jac said to tell you “Thanks, so much, Cathy. I certainly didn’t MOVE much at all…but, I appreciate you tryng to locate me! I was never quite sure what was going on !!!”
Aw … Jac, we’ll find you anywhere, and besides Louis put you in a RED skirt just to make sure 🙂
I turn on the TV, split my computer screen into 2: One for items and order cart, and the other for the Forums so I can get advice from the other Linea ladies, and go to work LOL!
Cathy in PA
Louis, Can u please convince qvc to reorder ( and add new colors) to the pebble crepe crop pants, the same one Jacque wore with the woodblock blouse this morning. I want to order the sand, the color that will work with all the pebble crepe pants and add new colors. I just came back from florida and I wore my pebble crepe crop pants and the coordinating top many times. I simply love the casual elegance of it.
I meant to say that the pebble crepe crop pants go with the woodblock blouses, so it would be nice if there were some to order along with some new colors because these crops are excellent in warm weather.
Add my vote for a reorder of the pebble crepe crop pants in sand and black and how about navy and espresso, too. I already have the pebble crepe long straight skirts in sand and black that I purchased in anticipation of getting the wood block blouses. Ordered the tops in black and green at midnight to make sure I’d get them. Would love the crops to wear with them. Is a reorder in the works? I hope so!
Hi, the pebble crepe crops were not reordered due to returns being too high. I guess there were too many woman who for one reason or another did not share your opinion. I thought they were a slam dunk and would become essentials….so I agree with you 1000%. I don’t have any coming this spring/summer but I am starting sketching spring 2013….so I will definitely add a new crop pant in the pebble crepe. I think I will make the leg slightly slimmer which seemed to be the biggest objection….but still very comfortable.
Hi Louis,
Thankyou for your reply, you are truely a gem. I liked those crops so much I am thinking of getting the pebble crepe pants avail in my size(ofcourse the sand is not avail, and I really need it) and shortening it to crops. Do you think that will work?. I loved your items this morning and added the tribal peasant blouse when I saw it on the models. Thanks, i always feel confident and stylish when I wear your designs ( which is more and more everyday)
The long PC pants shorten to crops will work out fine. The aqua pant matches the PC aqua boat neck tunic and the white will look good with everything including the reorder of the crinkle georgette safari shirt which has been reordered and will be coming in April in white to match. I would advise you not to hesitate because with out any other PC pant option this season I’m sure what ever pants are remaining will fly out.
Louis…will you be re-ordering (A214117) Crinkle Georgette Shirt w/ Shell? I purchased both the sage and black when it was offered last year and they are winners. These shirts feel so cool and airy on and I have received tons of compliments every time I wear them. If they didn’t make your list for this year please bring it back next year in more colors. Also, please bring back (A217985) Long Sleeve V-Neck Tunic Sweater in more colors. I was one of those lucky ladies to receive all three colors that were offered last Fall. Outstanding sweater…. Okay..I’m done with my begging for now, but I can’t help myself. Thanks so much for your attention to detail. The high quality of your clothing line really shows.
I second Clark55’s suggestion for bringing back A214117 in new colors. I love this item and have it in both colors and also purchased it for gifts. It is the perfect summer top, yet can be worn 3 seasons as well. Love it!
It’s coming in April…….
Dear Clark55
That was a VERY popular shirt and YES….it has been reordered in the black, and olive. I could only add one new color so there was a HUGE request for WHITE. Believe it or not, when I got home from QVC today there was a package of samples waiting for me and the shirt was one of them. I already put it on my form with the white pebble crepe long pull-on pant from last season and they look fabulous together…..it makes you want to take a walk on some exotic far away beach at sunset with an equally exotic drink in hand……
Yippee!!! That is wonderful news. I have your white pebble crepe pants so your new color “white” will definitely be a welcome addition to my Louis Dell’Olio Collection. By the way…last season I purchased (2) black & (2) olive in this shirt for fear that it wouldn’t come back. That’s how much I loved wearing it. Thanks so much for all that you do.
Me, too! I also have that top in Olive and Black. It is perfect for the really hot summer weather – light as a feather, covers my arms but still looks airy and light. Wouldn’t it be gorgeous in Navy?
Yes it would…..may be if it gets reordered again….I’ll do it in my dark navy. It would be nice to do it in a few colors.
I would buy every color in the rainbow! 🙂
I don’t want you to ruin any surprises, but it’s very helpful when you post a list of all the items that are coming for the season. It makes it easier to plan what I want before the items sell out. For example, if I know blue pants are coming in June, then I’ll get the blue jacket in April. Is it possible for you to post March, April, May and June coming attractions?
Thanks,
Carol aka crdlb
Exactly. I know I need the new pink DB jacket because of the sweater that was shown as a sneak peak.
Even if it’s just a typed list (sorry to ask you to do more work) I would also find this so helpful; find myself saying things like “Self, if only you’d KNOWN that Navy top was coming, you’d have bought that skirt …” and of course that item is sold out and it’s too late. I’m also trying to decide on a color for the new DB jacket … based on what else is coming up soon …
Louis,
I have your fabulous ottoman knit sweater with stand collar and kimono sleeves. I think its a couple of years old. It is such a wonderful pieces. I know it will be more expensive now, but would you consider talking to your fashion buyers at Q about bringing it back? This sweater looks like it costs $500. The knit is superb. I was at the Museum wearing the deep turquoise (so striking) the other day and as I walked around looking at the exhibition women were constantly saying what a lovely sweater. I would love this in a navy, camel, gray, perfectly pink or whatever your fashion sense tells you is right for next fall. This sweater would also work with the tanks we have been buying lately. Thanks
LOuis, I agree with Victoria, I love…. this sweater. I only got it in black and cannot tell you how many people compliment me on it. I would be willing to pay more for it. PLEASE…. have it available in add’l colors, i would buy for myself and others as presents. I have worn these many times this winter.
Hi Louis,
Can the longer length knit pencil skirts (A219798) be altered to be shorter in length or will it ruin the edge of the skirt?
Thanks again,
Regards to Jac,
Chris
I’m really not sure due to the fact that the knit is stretchy and if you sew a normal hem it won’t stretch and there isn’t a slit in the skirt. Why don’t you just get the shorter version, or was it the color you wanted?
It was the particular color I was interested in. Thanks anyway– I will have to wait for that color to come in a shorter version– fawn?
I would think about having it shortened from the top edge. Sometimes it’s more practical to remake the waitband than the hem. Just a thought…
Hi Louis – I think I may have found the solid colored scarves you used with your Robyn shirts on the Forever 21 website but can you tell us about the earrings? Oh and I don’t suppose anybody has anything even remotely similar to the AK belt you designed for them either :-/
Dear Louis,
This topic came up last week, and you may have already answered, but just in case, as older comments are now hidden:
I got my Navy A213621 Pebble Crepe Boatneck Tunic today, and to confirm for everyone, the fabric is indeed EXACTLY the same as other Pebble Crepes at 70% Rayon, 30% Poly, machine wash and hang to dry. So the Q fabric description on this item on the website is incorrect.
This tunic is cool, comfortable and absolutely LOVELY; feels divine on; looked great with a pair of slim leg jeans and my matte gold vintage Anne Klein Fish Skeleton necklace; just the perfect neckline for any jewelry! I went back and ordered each of the other colors. Thanks!

Hi Louis. Just asking for a genuine trench coat, maybe without the rings on the belt but everything else. And a simple lining. Is that possible?
It seems everyone is doing trench coats so it isn’t something I have sketched recently. There have been so many animal print and solid ones, even a TSV that I have shied away from doing one……maybe for next early spring…….Louis
Yes, but everyone is defaulting to a shorter length trench coat which to me is just a car coat. My trenches (I have many) are long and lean! I am guessing its to accommodate different heights without having to offer a petite version?
I don’t know why other designers choose the length they do, but I’m sure that thought does come into play. I did a “true” trench coat a few years ago that I loved. The women that kept it loved it and I’m sure they are still wearing it. It is just as relevant today as when I did it. It was shine fabric and came in olive, deep magenta and black. It was gorgeous. Then I did one in navy and white with large lucite buttons. Unfortunately, none of them became reorder items.I will certainly keep trying. Does it have to be water repellent which does raise the price……..
Louis,
My 2 cents on the trench coat idea: I love the idea of a longer trench coat again; so perfect for travel and home. I saw that shiny olive coat on one of your presentations; it was just beautiful! Here in the “rain forest” in PA and for travel, I’d most definitely pay extra for water repellant, but I’d buy one either way. Navy, Chino/Khaki, Chili Pepper, Olive … solid or maybe a texture on texture solid (like the houndstooth pattern woven into the Swing Jacket) so it keeps it’s versatility ?
Thanks for listening!
Cathy in PA
I love that olive trench coat! I’ve worn it recently when the weather warmed up but it was rainy. Now we are back to cold, windy wintery weather. So I’ll pull out the satin-y coat with zipout lining in Black and Taupe. Such versatile coats, all of them!
Hello Louis, In my vast selection of Linea pants I seem to often choose A86580. I decided today to go to the QVC site and watch the video…funny; you said, “You’ll go to it all the time!” Well, you were absolutely correct! Is this a pant that you could/would consider bringing back in the black, and perhaps some other color choices?
Louis, do you know the length in med on the new floral block print top, Item # A222272?
Thanks for all you do for us.
Dear Bernadine,
I have not forgotten you…..I haven’t gotten an answer to your question so I measured my XS. The front measures approx 26 inches and the back 30 inches so you can approximate a medium being 1/2 inch longer.
I thought it looked a little long for as short as I am. Beautiful blouse, I just can’t wear a top that’s that long. I’ll just have to be satisfied with the 3 pebble crepe tops that will be here tomorrow.
Louis
I somehow missed out on the RED in the crepe jacket. Purchased black and sand.
I must have one!! Where can I find now that it is sold out at QVC?
Dear Donnalee,
The black and sand blazer is a different jacket. It has the gold and pearl buttons. The red, navy and ivory jacket has the new gold signature buttons. I believe they are all sold out the last time I looked, but you can try wait list…..I bet a red one shows up eventually. If not, do you know anyone in London. I will be selling almost everything on QVC UK this March. Maybe someone could order you one? Just a thought……..Louis
Dear Louis. Have you considered bringing back the “sweater knit”pants. Many of us really treasure these pants from the past and would love to purchase new pairs. Thanks,Liz
I have considered it EVERY season! A new sample is being made and I will push to get it ordered, but since it has to be made in the every needle rib to be substantial, and it’s in the whisper knit quality, I’m afraid the buyers may think they are too expensive. It has been quite a few years since they were offered…………..Louis
I can pretty much guarantee that these would sell out.So many other lines at QVC have some items with a higher price tag and they seem to sell.I often wonder why TPTB are turning away sure sellers. Thank you for your reply. Liz
Louis — what’s the name of the gallery that has the jewelry again in NYC – I know you told it before and I swear I saved their site in my favorites and I can’t locate it now. I’m in NYC in April and I plan on making time between meetings to go to the store. I love that type of jewelry and would love to add more to my collection!
Thanks!!
Susana,
There is a link on the Linea Forum. Send an email to Yvonne and she will assist you. I have contacted her and will probably order this week. She’s very helpful. 🙂 If you can’t find the link, post up a question in the Linea Forum on Q and we will post it for you.
Dear Susana…..see my answer to Vicki above…..
Dear Victoria,
I am very happy to share Yvonne with all of you. The jewelry that Jacques carries in his gallery is unique and can not be purchased any wear else….that I know of. The quality and colors of the pieces is exceptional and a constant inspiration. I can never go and visit Yvonne without leaving with new goodies………Louis
Louis, Don’t have a question, just a follow up for Linea ladies about the wonderful resource for the Jewelry you have shown with many of your presentations that is not your jewelry, but the Berber jewelry which you collect. I have been buying it online with lovely pictures provided me by the wonderful Yvonne.I have gone back and forth looking at my wardrobe and calculating what I am buying in May/June of your fabulous jewelry and what I wanted of the berber jewelry as a creative addition to my already overflowing jewelry box. I was an 18k fanatic and your jewelry will fit fine with that. I also began buying loads of Judith Ripka’s pieces in silver and some of her 14k gold clad. The resin necklaces and bracelets are too die for…and the quality is outstanding. Yvonne is thrilled to be helping Linea ladies. These pieces are stunners and so affordable:)) I hit the motherload…thanks again Louis.
Dear Louis,
A question has come up on the forums about the Pebble Crepes, and I volunteered to ask you, if you might be able to find out:
The reordered Tunic with the Boatneck, Item #213621 is showing up for order in the new Aqua and waitlist available in Navy, and is listed as Pebble Crepe on Q’s site, with the fabric being 100 % Rayon, but some of the girls checked their tunics from before, and the tags say 70% Rayon/30% Poly. The recent Pebble Crepe Funnel Neck #A221800 and matching Skirt #A221804 are both the 70% Rayon/30% Poly blend.
Could you possibly check if the fabric content on the reorder of the Boatneck Tunic #A213621 has changed, or if it is still the same, and would match the Pebble Crepe skirt?
For me, it doesn’t matter; I missed the skirt in Black, so I’m getting the Boatneck in several colors; I just love that neckline for all my scarves and jewelry … but those who want to match to the skirt would really like to know if the fabrics are the same.
THANKS from all of us,
Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy,
I ill certainly look into this, but I can absolutely assure you and everyone else the fabrics are exactly the same. I have all of the samples new and old and they look like all the same fabric to me. The Aquamarine IS the same fabric as last years long pant and shirt jacket, so I don’t understand the differences in the fabric content of the label….but I will check……….Louis
Hi Louis,
Didn’t mean to cause you consternation …. we all are assuming Q’s web descriptions are just not accurate; been there, seen that done, that before 🙂
I’ve already ordered that Boatneck in several colors; NOT missing the Navy in that one! I love my funnel neck Terra Cotta tunic too; I ordered your leggings in all 3 in stock colors, to wear with that and the Poet shirts. Walter climbed down off ladder, put down the vacuum cleaner (cobwebs in the chandelier LOL), and said “Oh, MY that looks nice!” Those are my first leggings, and they are WONDERFUL; hope they come back in more colors at some point.
Can’t wait to see what else you’re bringing us this year; I’m going to Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico in fall, so ANYTHING with the name Chili Pepper is jumping into my closet LOL! Dying to have a hint of what those “yummy summer colors” are for that new cardigan you mentioned are, as I’m trying to decide on a color for the DB Trench jacket … Off to Virginia for the long weekend, with a suitcase full of LInea.
Thanks to you and to Jac, Cathy in PA
Hello,
I received the Notch Collar Blazer (A221808) with Front Pockets and skirt in Navy. The pieces are lovely. Today I wore the blazer and after awhile I noticed my hands had a blue tinge, as did the sleeve cuffs of my white blouse. I think the color is coming from the outside fabric; not the lining. Do I just need to return the items or is there something I can do. Thank you.
Barbara
P. S. I ordered your black long sleeve turtleneck sweater a few months ago and am thrilled with it. Usually I cannot wear a turtleneck, but your fabric is so soft, I have no trouble at all. Finally a turtleneck sweater I can wear!
Dear Barbara,
I have never had this problem before so I forwarded your question to my manufacturer and as soon a I get a response I will let you know what she said………………….regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
I just discovered that the dye did NOT come from your jacket, but rather from the blue jeans I was wearing at the time! I am so very sorry for any concern I have caused you regarding this. I love the jacket and skirt and will enjoy having them in my wardrobe!
Barbara
Dear Barbara…….this is good news about the blazer and skirt. My manufacturer will have a huge sigh of relief as she was very upset to hear the dye was rubbing off. The problem with the jeans is some what common especially with dark indigo as they are not pre-washed as much as the lighter colors…………….regards, Louis
Dear Louis:
Forgive me if I’m asking something you’ve previously answered, but is the new aqua pebble crepe tunic the same color as the aqua pants and jacket from 2011? Are you planning to bring new bottoms, besides the skirt from your January, in the pebble crepe this season? I’m getting both the navy and the aqua no matter what, though. It’s a great summer top!
Thanks,
crdlb
Dear Carol,
All the pebble crepe pieces in the Aqua [Aquamarine] are the same color. The reorder tunic, the shirt/jacket [last season], the long pant [last season] and a new long, fuller skirt due in April are all the same color….plus the georgette short sleeve peasant top and the short two tiered pull-on skirt all in the same aquamarine……………….Louis
Louis,
I was fortunate to get the crepe classic trousers (A92298)in navy and the matching jacket on Ebay and I LOVE it. Just purchased the burgundy jacket on clearance from QVC and hoping to track down the burgundy pants, but if I can’t I plan on wearing it with the straight leg pants in black and the black long knit riding skirt. I see that the pants also came in taupe. My question is will you be bringing back these wonderful pants? The crepe fabric is amazing. I have never felt so stylish and comfortable at the same time! Please tell me this will be on reorder. Thanks!
Julia
Dear Julia,
This suit is a least two years old and was not reordered. I will not be bringing either the style or fabric back. Don’t go crazy looking for the matching burgundy pant. I think it will look great with all the black bottoms you have listed!,,,,plus my black knit pencil skirts….either at the shorter length or at the new 26 inch length……regards, Louis
Thank you for letting me know. I can see why the ladies are holding on to these pants. I also just saw on a review of them where the burgundy goes with the aubergine. I have several tops (tank, short-sleeve shell, v-neck, and turtleneck – love that color!) in aubergine to wear with the jacket with the black bottoms (and do have the black knit pencil skirt as well). Can’t wait to get the jacket. Then maybe I’m done with winter. I’m really ready for spring and looking forward to your upcoming shows for some new pieces. Take care,
Julia
Hello Louis,
I wanted to add the chili pepper boho to my collection of bohos. Forgive me if you have already answered this, how would you describe the color. Which tops would you coordinate with it from the past collection. Do you have anything specifically coming up that will go with this skirt? The skirt is avail for waitlist however there is no picture. I would appreciate your input thankyou
Hi, the Chili Pepper boho will not be avail until July so there is a lot of time. It is, as the name implies, a deep rich red. I am not sure what from the past will work since it will be some time before I get my sample, but I will have some new things to work with it…..Louis
Ahhh, Louis, you had me at Chili Pepper LOL! Waitlist here I come, and I’m delighted to hear there will be new things to work with it 🙂
Cathy in PA
I got mine on waitlist, too. Can’t wait to see it and the coordinating pieces.
Julia/Qulia
Dear Louis,
I need your advice: Please describe the fit of the butterfly cardi. I’m debating whether I should go with XS or S. I’m usually an XS in your tops but the solid button front crew neck cardi (A217983), for instance, was too tight on me in an XS.
Thank you!
Best,
Birdie
Dear Birdie,
If you felt the A217983 was too small in the xs then I would suggest getting the small because the butterfly cardi isn’t bigger. This is a question you should ask the Linea Ladies on the QVC Linea forum. Many women have received the butterfly cardi already an also own the cardi you have. I think they would give you first hand advise, but from what you have said….I think the sm……regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
Thank you for the classic crepe jackets and skirts and the double breasted pea coat from the last two shows. They are absolutely magnificent! I am so happy with them.
Question: Regarding the double breasted jacket (A221805) that will be presented on February 25, will the peony pink jacket match or coordinate with the pink status chain print lawn cotton blouse (A215158) and pink status print skirt (A215185) from last year?
Thank you for all you do for your Linea ladies. You are so appreciated!
Carol
Dear Carol,
I tried the two pieces together. I’m not sure if I LOVED them together??? It’s not that the shades of pink are so different…..it’s that the shirt is sooooo much paler than the jacket that I find the jacket a little overpowering. May be the pink chain shirt with white pants and then the jacket would balance it out better for me, but that’s just me….you may thin down in FL…they work great together. I will say the pink Hydrangea looks good with the peony pink DB because there are different shades of pink, one of them being very close to the peony………regards, Louis
Thanks, Louis for the clarification. I know I want at least one of these jackets. It’s hard to decide on a color when they are all so yummy. I’ll probably have to have more than one!
Louis, love the tribal peasant blouse with the solid back. How does it looked layered with the cardigan? Sort of a tribal twinset or does it look too much? Also, does the navy tribal go with the chambray boho? I think I see a little light blue in there but am not sure if it will match. Thanks!
Dear Julia,
The tribal peasant top worn with the tribal cardigan over it doesn’t look good together…..they look GREAT together!!! I am so glad you asked this question which I am sure many women will wonder about.I would suggest belting the peasant top and then wearing the loose cardigan over it…..though it is not necessary. I tried the two pieces on my form [in the black combo] with a black suede belt trimmed in black patent leather, a black pencil skirt and it looked incredible. The top would also work under almost any kind of black jacket, from a classic blazer to a motor cycle. Of course, worn on it’s own it’s a strong statement unto itself.
I read that there was a question if it was cheaper to make the peasant top using a solid back……the answer is no….it’s more expensive!!! The reason for this is the cutting labor. It is much easier to cut a garment all in the same fabric. The pattern pieces are placed on the fabric to get maximum cutting and then they are cut and bundled at one time according to size. When a section is solid, that means it takes a separate cutting and then the solid pieces have to be sorted and bundled with the appropriate print pieces….making sure the correct sizes are kept together. You can see where this can become a logistical nightmare for the factory. They would much rather do one cutting and be done with it. It all looks so simple and easy…..but it’s not.
As for the chambray blue Boho and the navy peasant top….it doesn’t work for me. The pale blue in the peasant top is a very different color. The olive peasant skirt works with the olive and likewise the black……not the chambray blue….sorry…………..regards, Louis
Hello Louis,
I have another question about the green woodblock blouse coming in feb. I don’t have anything in the green color, I wanted to try it, does it work with the blue crops pants or white pants coming up later in the season” I don’t own the taupe/sand pants or the green crops and was planning to purchase the new crop pants coming up later in the season. WOuld love to try the green color if it works with the blue or white bottoms thanks .
Dear nikki,
The print does not look good with the blue crop pant. The color is too strong for the top. White looks too stark with it also. You are still better off with an ivory, chino, khaki or sand as a neutral bottom. There are some pebble crepe pull-on pants and the long straight ski9rt left you may want to take a look at. These will work with any of the colors coming in the print top…..Louis
Then the convertible crop pants in Chino and Ivory work..It’s the little things that make us happy <3. I had not thought of those pants..
Dear Debbie,
The color certainly works but I was not thinking of that style which may be too sporty and busy fo9r the ruffle top. I think the bottom should be simpler…..like the pebble crepe pull-on pant or the sand side zip……
………Louis
Got it. Thanks..
I missed out on the sand side zip. They sent me the wrong size and of course they are gone in my size, sigh. I do have all the pebble crepe crops though.
Hi Louis –
Your hint about a new print cardigan coming in April was enough to make me pass on the Isaac Mizrahi One Time Only flower print cardigan during “Fashion Week. Can you give a hint about colors?! Cause I’m loving the navy butterfly print cardi so much, I’m tempted to get the olive to tie around my neck with that wonderful olive shirt dress you brought us last summer – but don’t usually do two-of-the-same-item. Can’t I coax you into a hint or two?
(And by the way – went to a party Friday night in black slim trousers and that terrific pink jacket AA78356 – what a knock out little piece that one is!)
Louis, your mention of another cardigan has been on my mind, too. I love the fabric of my butterfly sweater, so I’m excited to hear that another one is coming our way in this fabric. I was just wondering if the new print cardi will be the same style as the butterfly. Love, love, love the cut of this one! (Of course, I’ll be lining up at midnight either way, lol.)
Hi Yvette,
The new sweater is actually different from the butterfly. It’s shorter with a 3/4 length sleeve. It is in the same yarn so the weight and feel is the same. The new one has knit rib trims which is also different from the butterfly. It has a bit of a retro look and it’s in yummy summer colors.
Sounds just perfect for our hot, humid weather here in New Orleans. Can’t wait to see those colors!
sounds perfect–like the idea of a 3/4 sleeve, too
I have the Bishop Sleeve Swing Jacket, A84710, that I picked up on the Bay in perfect unworn condition. The back pleat was still tacked down and I didn’t notice, LOL. It is a very unusual jacket in design and I’d like to optimize it’s look to the fullest.
I may take it to a tailor and see if I can nip in the waist and underarm a little bit. BUT the fabric is just stunning!! Wow. I’m thinking THE best look with this jacket is to keep the clothes underneath all one color and slim in design because the jacket is so large. It IS a statement piece and quite unusual. Navy, expresso, black, magenta would all look lovely with this, be it turtle neck with pencil skirt or slim pant. I have worn it open so far, however, I think the best look with this is to button the top butoon as the old video shows. Any other ideas you might suggest? I am a size L and generally look better in cool tones and no pastels. Thank you so much.
Dear Sharon, I am so pleased you like this jacket and fabric which I thought was beautiful. I always felt it had a very Renaissance look. I personally love it with deep jewel tones and it looks wonderful with black velvet or any deep color velvet….espresso, purple etc.. I also love it with deep wines and or Aubergine. The Byzantine jewelry looks wonderful with the Antique gold as the jacket also has a Byzantine look……..Louis
I was just thinking my Byzantine jewelry would look FABULOUS with it!! Ahhh, jewel tones are my color palette-perfect indeed. I never thought of velvets, see good to write to you. I was thinking of suede however, I really want flowy fabric, just a better choice. I am excited to put this together now! It is quite a special piece and again, this fabric and color is just beyond my expectations. I need to look at your crushed velvet skirt again, that is flowy and I wear the matching tunic on its own. I definately can SEE these pieces together! Thank you so much and my best to Jac!
I’m loving the woodblock print top you’ve sneak peeked, but green isn’t one of the main colors I have in my wardrobe. I do, however, love that green print, so I’m wondering if this top coordinates with the green chambray crops from last summer. I do have those. (The other two colors of the print are divine, too, but they are complete no-brainers for me.)
Thanks.
crdlb
Dear Carol…..that was a great call out. I hadn’t thought to put the green chambray crops from last spring with the green wood block print. They look great together. I was so focused on showing them with all the different sand and natural pebble crepe bottoms that I never thought of it. I know out of the three colorways the green will probably be the slowest because, as you say, the others are no-brainers. I just want to say the green blouse is a beautiful, fresh soft color and would look beautiful for those who are planning spring and summer vacations. It really does look great with the green crops as well as the natural pebble crepe crops from last spring……a pair of sandals a straw bag, sunglasses and voila……a perfect breezy, cool way to look…..Louis
Yipee! I like those green crops so I’m thrilled to hear they work. I have the natural crops and the tan long pants from last year, so looks like the green will be headed my way!
thank you!
Carol aka crdlb
I may have asked for this before and if so, I apologize for the duplication but I really, really want this! Your prints are stunning and unique … I’d love a classic jersey faux wrap dress (ls or 3/4) in some of those prints! Almost all your great prints could work .. the new woodblock would be killer in a dress! I travel a lot for work and love jersey dress..seriously I would buy them all and am willing to pay $$ for them!
I 2nd the request!
I have quite a few dresses coming this spring summer in all different fabrics, and I’m working on quite a few for Fall 2012. I hope you like them.
The woodblock in a dress would be so gorgeous–what a great idea!
Hi Louis:
I am having so much fun with your spring items! The shows are wonderful and we really appreciate all of the hard work that goes into making the presentations. My question is about the new khaki color for the zipper trimmed cotton jacket(A213327), specifically will there be a skirt to match?
Best regards,
Soldout
Hi SOLDOUT!!
So nice to hear from you. Unfortunately, as of now there aren’t any skirts coming in that color, but I’m starting to work on next spring and I think that would make a great skirt color…….Louis
Good morning Louis,
An article in the Star-Ledger caught my eye and thought it would catch yours too. A show at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) is entitled Textility.
Here is a little info from the site of VACNJ: Textility
Main Gallery, Mitzi & Warren Eisenberg Gallery, and Studio X
January 13 – April 1, 2012
Opening Reception: January 13, 6 pm – 8 pm
While there is a strong emphasis on materiality in contemporary art, we have seen an increasing number of artists who share a specific interest in textile-related materials and processes. We coined the word “textility” to describe these qualities and organized this exhibition to explore art that has a material or conceptual relationship to textiles.
Some artists in the exhibition appropriate materials and techniques associated with fiber arts, using cloth or thread in place of paint or pencil to convey formal elements like color and line. Others employ traditional art-making materials to produce paintings, sculptures and drawings that resemble textiles. And some artists create works that suggest fabric or textiles by referencing some element of weaving, knotting or stitching. The works on view in three galleries and additional spaces throughout the Art Center showcase the diverse approaches of twenty-eight artists, incorporating a broad range of media and ideas. “Textility” is the common thread that connects them.
Hello Louis,
I just rec’d the chino robyn shirt. The chino is such a sophisticated color, absolutely georgous. Now, as i contemplate my next purchase, can you tell me if the olive butterfly sweater work with the chino robyn shirt? Online, it appears that it will work and I would love that. Love the new sneak peaks, I will be travelling however, I will have my laptop ready to order at midnite. Even my husband understands when I say Louis is on QVC, after all we went thru a hurricane and I had to do my shopping because you were on QVC.
Another winner! Based on the upcoming safari dress you teased us with, I got the Sapphire stand collar jacket. WOW! The fabric is wonderful and the color is stunning! I will admit I am not a fan of the crepe in anything so appreciate the variety. I plan to wear it now with a shirt underneath and wool trousers and on my honeymoon with your white jeans and a tank.
Will the white jeans be numbered sizes or the standard SML range?
We are all anticipating your next sneak peeks! Thanks again for such beautiful clothing.
Not a question, just another rave for the butterfly sweater, TDF. It is a Masterpiece! I was absolutely delighted with every single item I purchased in January and February. Thank you for all you do to make us feel and look beautiful.
Dear MH-MN,
I’m so happy everything worked out for you!…….Louis
Louis just got home from work and the navy butterfly cardi was waiting. Tried it on with the grey flannel trousers I was wearing. Fabulous! This is really a knockout print – and the fit couldn’t be better-slim and chic. Thanks for this perfect little gem. (I’ll love wearing it with jeans and denim skirts, too.) And please think about using this great style and knit in other prints and solids – I would buy every one you made!
I have another printed cardigan in the same yarn with the gros grain trims coming in April…..you’ll have to wait for the sneak peek!
We’ll all be waiting for it! 🙂 Love my navy butterfly. Louis, your prints are stunning, I am so pleased.
Louis
Do you have any more of your beautiful multiple cross necklaces ? I can’t believe I let that beauty slip by and now I can’t find it.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
Susan
Dear Susan,
I’m not sure what you mean by “multiple cross” necklaces. I have only done the Byzantine single cross, and that is totally sold out. I haven’t been notified it they will reorder it or not…..certainly the demand is there…..Louis
Louis
I am so glad your operation went well. I thought you had a long chain necklace with small crosses in stations (think Duchess of Windsor). Perhaps in the future. . . ? All the best in London.
Susan PS I can’t believe I am talking to such a famous designer. Will never forget this.
Hi, Louis! The new blazer with your signature buttons is a HUGE hit, and there are already cries for it with the same fit and cut in tweed for Fall/Winter. Any chance of your doing that? As always, Barbara
Hi, I can’t give you a definitive answer on that……things are just being developed.
We have quite a thread going on over at the forum, with great Tweed Jacket ideas, led by Barbara 🙂
Hi Louis,
Just wanted to let you know that the navy and red blazers in 2X, ordered at midnight and then “back ordered,” were not only found but shipped and I received them today. They are beautiful — great colors and great fit. The Ivory, which was ordered after these, was received yesterday — go figure!
I went today to the Jacques Carcanagues Gallery (I live in NYC). Yvonne is a doll! Purchased five great chunky necklaces that will be wonderful with your clothes. She told me that the owner might be closing the store at the end of the year — hope not since this is a super shop! As I was leaving, another Linea lady came in …..
Thank you for all the beautiful clothes and for the great tip on the shop.
Jane
Dear Jane,
I’m so glad you met Yvonne. Isn’t that shop incredible! Isn’t the jewelry great! and they always get new things in. The gallery used to be twice the size with a lot more antique furnishings. I will cry when Jacques closes, but he has been in business for many years and has been in a few different locations in SOHO. I think he wants to relax now. I think his taste level is superb and I own many of his pieces for the home. I have spent a fortune in that store over the years, but they are pieces everyone exclaims over…..they are treasures….so is Yvonne.
Hi Louis —
Thank you very much for recommending Jacques’ shop. I agree with you — the shop is incredible, the jewelry great, and Yvonne a treasure. While in NYC last week on a business trip I delayed my train home to DC in order to visit the shop. I tried on jewelry for over an hour with Yvonne and purchased several resin necklaces and bracelets. What fun!
As this is my first post on your blog, I want to thank you for your lovely clothes that perfectly meet my professional and casual needs. Thank you also for interacting with us through this medium. It is fabulous for us to have direct contact with our favorite designer. You’re the best and we love you!
Kindest regards,
TourEiffel
Dear TourEiffel,
I’m so glad you took the time to visit Yvonne. She e-mailed me and said a few of my ladies stopped buy and she had a great time with all of you. I just love her and all of the merchandise in the store. The jewelry is just what I love, bold and unique. I love the fact that it is modern but still inspired by ethnic designs. When ever I can, I stop buy to visit Yvonne. I will be very sad when Jacques decides to retire and close the gallery………You must stop in whenever you get the chance. She always has new things and usually doesn’t repeat items, so once they are gone….they are gone. Some of the beaded necklaces are made right there so they are not things you will see anywhere else…….enjoy…..Louis
Hi Louis —
Thanks for encouraging me to visit Jacques’ shop again! Not that I needed encouragement, but next time, in addition to jewelry, I’d like to look at his art and statues. I spied some bronze/metal fish statues like the ones in my garden that I hauled home from Thailand 20+ years ago. And, the religious art looked amazing too. More reasons to plan a trip to NYC!
Also, not sure if Yvonne told you, but the day I visited the shop I was wearing your new blue python print jacket with your black mock neck and black boucle skirt. Yvonne LOVED the outfit and could not stop gushing about it!
Thanks again,
TourEiffel
I just bought a group of necklaces and bracelets from Yvonne too!…she is fabulous, generous, funny and very helpgul. Thanks you Louis…you are quickly becoming irreplaceable and now your gorgeous pieces for the Q…we are some of the best dressed women in the country…Thanks
Dear victoria,
I’m so glad you had a good time with Yvonne…..she’s a little treasure….I truly adore her. I have been going to the gallery for years probably 20 or more!!!! That’s how long it’s been around, though it’s been in different locations in Soho. I just love her accessories and furnishings. The antique Berber jewelry is fantastic. I’m a collector, or I should say I was a collector. It’s gotten so expensive! I as so pleased you found things you liked……………Louis
The khaki jacket with the zipper trim arrived yesterday, and I can’t tell you in words how much I love it……. it will go with so many things and all of the tarnished bronze jewelry that I have…..the fit is perfection and the workmanship is beyond description…… Thanks, Louis
I’m a little on the fence about the color of the aqua lace embroiderd sweater from the January show. It’s a little dustier than I expected, and when I took it to my closet, there wasn’t much in there that looked right with it. Are there some garments coming up this season that will coordinate with it? (besides black). Or can you recommend something from past
Thanks!
Carol aka crdlb
Dear Carol,
I purposely did the aqua on the dusty side so it would be a color that can be worn all year.I’m not really doing anything in the aqua family as a bottom. I saw the sweater being worn with all kinds of black bottoms and jackets depending on the season. In the winter I see it with a black tank and the sweater partly buttoned with a black pant, boot skirt or pencil skirt. The long knit, velvet or boho skirts would be a good winter option. In the spring/summer I see it again with or without a tank/cami and Capri, cropped or georgette skirts like my short double tier black skirt from last summer. White or Ivory with the black tank would also look great. I haven’t tried it with a pale khaki, tan or sand pant, but that could work also. Remember, accessories can really pull it all together.
LOUIS…THAT’S RIGHT COVER YOUR EARS…THIS IS THE SCREAM I EMITTED WHEN I PUT ON MY INDIGO TOP AND LOOKED IN THE MIRROR…OMG YOU ARE A GENIUS….this same outfit in the hands of an amateur would look like the versions we see all over THE Q…in your hands it is a refined gorgeous masterpiece…the line on the jacket and OMG these pants will make a grown woman weep:)) The print the print the print….is gorgeous…perfection…I bought the Indigo, Expresso and the Olive…with the navy and pale sand tank.
It is funny how fashion makes women so happy…My ex husband is an architect and we used to laugh about it being the one of the professions, when people come to you its usually a joyus occasion, they are building their dream home…I think it must be the same for a designer with your design integrity…YOU design it and we will come…you help us to become our best public selves…we walk out of the house ready to take on the world, because no matter how we may feel that day, as I used to tell myself during a tough work week, I must be 50 percent better than I feel, just based on how I look today.
Thanks dear Louis and Jac….you did it again!
