Dear Louis, I have a request for my very favorite designer…you! I feel there is a definite need for a beautiful, feminine, flowing pair of full length lined and washable white and winter white pants. These would make a woman’s waist look small (perhaps partially hidden elastic and darts), have no big pockets to make the hips look emphasized, and drape perfectly from the hips without clinging to the thighs or in the rise. The fabric would be soft (not stiff cotton or denim) and would be easy care. This would fill a need for woman who prefer not to wear cropped pants. So many of your tops and jackets would be complemented by this style. It would be appropriate for office, dressy sport, or high-style functions. I have carefully looked at all the online inventory at QVC, Nordstroms, Macy’s and more. These do not exist. After trying these light colors, I am sure many woman would look forward to purchasing additional colors for the coming seasons! Thank you for your designs that are the most innovative in today’s market. Thank you, too, for your blogs and photos that consistently build our anticipation of wonderful shows to come! Sincerely, Alice Speelman

Dear Alice, I am working on white seasonless pants for next spring. When you say flowing that leaves a great deal to interpretation. The bottom opening depends on the flow. Are you talking more than ten inches? [measured when the pant is flat seam to seam].

    2. Jeanie

I second this request. As far as leg opening is concerned, unless it’s a slim ankle pant, I always prefer a pant that will glide down over my heeled sandals a bit without me having to shake my leg every time I stand up. Usually a straight leg pant will accomplish this but if a wide leg is what it takes, then so be it. My question is, will a lined pant add pounds to an already curvy petite figure? What were your white pebble crepe pants like? I missed them but they look terrific with the white blouse in sneak peek 8. Will they ever come back?

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

With white pants it really depends on the fabric whether they are lined or not. A pant like this I would not put pockets in. If I had my druthers, I would do a back zip pant, but I know many women don’t like, or can’t reach in the back to zip them up. It’s just a much cleaner and slimmer look than a front zip white pant. It should not add any pounds to a curvy petite woman….IF…you are used to wearing white pants. A shoe with a platform, to give you a little more height is always a good trick….it’s like a guy in lifts. The white pebble crepe pants, for me, were casual beach vacation kind of pants. They did have pockets and WERE unlined and yes the pocket did show through a little….that never bothers me. I don’t think I ever owned a pair of white pants or shorts where the pockets didn’t show….unless they were in a very HEAVY cotton. Mens pants usually aren’t lined or lined to the knee. The pocket showing through did bother some women and they chose to sew the pocket closed and had the pocket sack removed….that worked too. As you can see there are few to none left so I guess it worked for most. They probably will not be reordered….but I will come up with another white pebble crepe pant for sure!

  2. Sheesh

Hi, Louis. I wrote this on your Sneak Peak page, too. I think the short sleeved crocheted boat neck sweater may go with the new Mosaic print skirts. The black sweater with the blue and perhaps the purple sweater with both the brown and blue skirts. What do you think?

    All the best, Sheesh

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Definitely the black….I don’t have the samples in the other colors so I can’t say if the purple will work or not……

    Hi Louis,

On your last show you presented the pebble crepe tunic blouse styled with a large fish pendant necklace. It was stunning! Also, in the past you’ve shown other fish jewelry. Is there a possibility that you will be doing the fish pendant necklace or any other fish jewelry for us in the future?

    Thank you!

    Carol

      1. Susana (Suzzeee)

Oh…I would love that! You have no idea how many hours I’ve spent searching online and at random flea markets for those gold fish pieces — found the earrings but keep missing necklaces!!

      2. Carol in FL

Oh, that would be fantastic! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Hope the buyers at QVC give you the go ahead.

        Carol

      3. Cathy

Yippee! My only “bay” find, a vintage Anne Klein long snake chain with one chubby fish with attitude, dangling from a fish hook (darling) is lonely! Can’t wait; might I request an earring when you and the buyers are deliberating?

        Cathy in PA

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

I have all of my vintage AK samples…..so it’s not a problem….I just have to sell them on the idea….of course a post later on in the season “pleading” with the buyer to bring to you my fish pendant that I have shown in the shows….wouldn’t hurt……say in MAY.

          1. Cathy

Well, maybe the best thing to do would be to “resurrect” the existing thread about the fish jewelry, as it had quite a few posts, and move it to the top of the thread lists; that way it would show considerable numbers and a continuing interest and request.

Are you saying the post should come now, asking for jewelry in May, or that the post should come in MAY asking for fish jewelry later in the season, just to clarify?

            Cathy in PA

            1. Cathy

Okay, then I think here’s the plan; if you all agree: Wait till May 1 or so, and add a new post to the existing Fish Jewelry Thread on the Forum. And then everyone post to that thread … that way we get the most number of posts, and demonstrate both quantity and quality of interest in this jewelry, and the continued interest? What does everyone think?

              Cathy in PA

  4. njlady

    Hi,
Can you tell me if the A214117 in sage is more greeny or browny in color. Hard to tell from picture, Thanx

  5. Kate

I’m sure it in here somewhere but I have lost track of your shows in April and May. Be a hero and post so I can calendar it!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kate……the show dates and times are:
      4/26, 1pm to 3pm, a 2 hour show with Albany
      5/11, 2am and 1pm
6/24, 4am to 6am….and there will be one new item and one reorder item
      7/31, 4am and 4pm
the new jewelry is due in May-June, but I will let everyone know when it is in inventory….The Byzantine cross reorder has arrived and is now avail.

that’s all I have up to now…Are you loving “bean town”?……LDO

      1. Sherry

The Byzantine cross was in stock yesterday, it’s now showing sold out again. Darn-it, I missed it again.

      2. MH-MN

Isn’t the 4/26 show from 1 PM to 3PM EDT, as shown on the Q’s Linea front page?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

YES YES YES….my mistake….I will correct it right now…OMG I’ll have everyone up at 1am!

      3. Debbie M

Thank You! I am interested in the August dates when you getting them. I am going on a cruise and I am willing to bet that’s when you’ll be on. Happens every time. LOL

      4. Kate

thanks for the round-up of show times and dates. All jotted down in INK. Yes, Boston is fabulous (but chilly) with all the flowering pears, plums and even a few magnolia in full bloom. Perfect weather for the jackets and sweaters you brought us this spring.

  6. Margo Ducane-Windsor

    Hi Louis,

I just Love you. I write you showing on my calander to make sure I don’t miss a moment of your shows.

I just received your three Denim Jackets. I love them. They are pefect. My question for you is would you please make earrings out of the classic Button on those jackets? They are perfect size for a Button Earring. (and would make a pierced version?)

    Cheers,

    Margo

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Margo,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will certainly remember and make a note of it…Louis

  7. Dr Eric Germaine

    Hi Louis-

Didn’t know how to get thru, but was looking for direction/help for my (strikingly), beautiful, fashion merchandising daughter, relocating to NYC. Any suggestions. Hope you and family are well.

    Regards, Eric

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Hello Eric,
Has your “strikingly” beautiful daughter already graduated from school with a fashion merchandising background? Since I now work exclusively with QVC, the home shopping channel, I connections with the retail stores is slim at best. Stores like Bloomingdale have trainee programs. I would suggest she call the stores personnel department directly and ask if they have any programs and if not could she send them her resume with a photo [couldn’t hurt]and try to get interviews going. She could also send resumes to designer’s personnel departments…like Ralph Lauren. Good to hear from you Eric, let me know how it works out……maybe I could help further down the road……regards, Louis

      1. Dr Eric Germaine

        Hi Louis-

Thanks for the (extremely timely) response, and suggestions. I’ll keep you posted. Best to you, and your family.

        Eric

  8. Fran March

Hello! I just found your web-site and had a question for you. I am a LOVER of your pebble crepe and just purchased one of the last of your tunics at QVC. One, I’m hoping you will bring this one back to them…two the pants are not available in my size/color and yes, there’s a three, the safari jacket also in your pebble jacket is very limited…dying for the tan/beige color. I live in Florida and it is difficult to find a material with style that are cool and breezy when we hit high humidity and our summer heat. You have a fan…so what’s the word on more pebble crepe! Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Fran…..first….welcome to my website….I hope you come to visit often. You will find many of the questions asked by the ladies are questions that many of the women have. Also, the women find the “sneak peak” photos very helpful deciding what to buy. I am so glad you like the pebble crepe and find it a comfortable fabric to wear in Florida….that is a true testament. I am afraid that what ever is still avail to order is almost all there will be of the pebble crepe for the season. I only have one more pebble crepe style coming. It will be on my April 26th show. It is a long, to tiered skirt which will be avail. in Black, Sand and Aquamarine. Honestly, I think it may be too much skirt for the hottest more humid Florida days, but I think it would work for you when the weather gets a little cooler and it would be ideal for your fall and winter climate in Florida. I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction….if not…ask me again…..regards, Louis

    2. Fran March

Louis I could just kiss you! I went “everyday” to QVC website on your Pebble Crepe Tunics…and I scored…Navy, Cocoa, Aqua & Black! Yay! AND I also pickup you Safari shirt/jacket also in the Pebble Crepe in white! You have a fan in Florida and her name is Fran! Thank you for bringing some back in stock…they are selling fast! The new line looks fantastic too! Just and idea…ever thought of a pull on bermuda short in Pebble Crepe…just saying! Thanks again!

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Fran….not only have I thought of it….. I have sketched it with a matching tank and a little flyaway 3/4 sleeve unlined jacket. For some reason they didn’t want the shorts, and the rest fell out. I guess they don’t think they would sell shorts? I don’t get it….sure there are some women who don’t show their legs or knees, but where I live and I’m sure in Florida too, plenty of women wear them when the weather calls for them….tennis anyone?

  9. Carmille

Happy Easter Louis – to you and Jac and the girls! I just have to ask, are you bringing the Kate shirt in perfectly pink in the future? I would just love that shirt in a pale pink…. I am hoping!

  10. Carol E McCormick

ANYONE WANT TO SELL A HOT PINK OR TURQ BOHO SKIRT IN 2X? I”M DESPERATE!!!!!!!!!! Also the almost BOHO in white. Have all the others. These are great for a woman who is disabled and always changing sizes. I have all the shorter skirts.

THRILLED to see the new windowpane in not silk. I only never bought it as I don’t wear silk.

I guess I am an idiot but can someone give me a clue when QVC might have some of the things like the new shrug and accompanying dress and the window pane? As you know, all Louis’s things sell out even before shown, but 2x is a popular size among all sizes it would seem.

Lovvvvve all the new safari’s in all colors.

Thanks family and friends. Looking for some Easter hints! xo

    1. Claudia (chprsp)

Check at midnight eastern time before the show on the 26th for availability. Many of us have been forced to order sight unseen to make sure we get our size. I have heard though that that sometimes the first orders do not get priority. Several have had their midnight orders go to back ordered. I have only experienced an item ordered at midnight going to back order once. Sometimes an item is held back in case of an oto. You ought to be fairly safe in ordering first thing in the morning.

Have you checked eBay searching under Linea Louis Dell’Olio?

      1. Carol E McCormick

Yes, thanks. I do try the midnite calls and have looked on EBAY. Thanks Claudia!!!!!!!! xo

  11. Cathy

    Hi Louis,

None of my endless questions this time; just CC’s: Conversation and Compliments …

My new denim jackets are just fabulous! Indigo is perfect, and the fit is absolutely perfect for me, in a 3X. The White 3X is somewhat bigger; I’m stalking a 2X in that one, but will keep the 3X and shrink a bit if none become available, as I really like it as well. Usually I’m not fond of a white jacket; feel like I look like a big marshmallow, but the seaming and peplum are just so complimentary; makes me think I should go try that Lily blouse I was afraid of before …

Maxi Dress in black is so beautiful! In 3X, I could get away with wearing it just as is, with a pair of higher heels. As I can’t do higher heels, it will go to the tailor for a bit of shortening and some little “nip and tucks” to fit my 5’3″ pear shape just a bit better. WELL WORTH that as it’s so pretty. The Chartreuse for some reason was much bigger all over, and I’m exchanging for a 2X in either purple or chartreuse when one becomes available.

Peasant Blouse with Satin Trim: I got in Black, as we discussed, and it does indeed look GREAT with my boucle skirt with satin trim, but I like it just as well with a pair of black jeans! Oh, I think I want this in that periwinkle blue too …

The “Conversation” is with you, the “Compliments” are from DH Walter; THANK YOU for that 🙂 Back to puppy minding for us … Cathy in PA

P.S. OOOHHH I forgot how my own highly talented seamstress/designer mother used to make Denim Skirts out of jeans, just as Sheesh describes. I’m off to see what’s left of the indigo jeans; I’m sure my tailor could do that for me; she’s very talented.

  12. ninjasmom

Hi Louis, No question, just an expression of appreciation.I love the denim!I have already gone back for more,it fits so well and is as comfortable as sweatpants!Have a Happy Easter!

  13. Sandi/(ArizonaSandi)

Dear Louis, I’m very excited about sneak peek #6, the mesh yoke blouse that is coming back. I have all 4 colors (red, black, olive, and white) and will of course be purchasing the new frosted lilac. My question: Maybe it’s my computer moniter, but the olive color in your sneak peek does not look like the olive that I have. The sneek peek on my moniter looks more like a dark khaki or dark sand. Is it indeed the olive color that I already have from last year? Thanks, Sandi (PS I’m WILD about your new demim pants in petites and am stalking jackets!!)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sandi….it is indeed the olive….just my photography…..so glad you like the denim…..don’t forget to post your reviews!……….Louis

      1. Sandi/(ArizonaSandi)

Thanks Louis! Oh and they already published my review under the petite pants number…please read it…I jumped on it! Also my review of the Pucci top is already published. They are getting fast which is a good thing. I’ll be receiving the new perfectly pink baby cheetah top on Monday…it’s already available to order. (have the other 2 colors, love) The review will be up before your next show….if there are any left to present LOL.

  14. Barbara C.

    Dear Louis,

Love the white bracelet(s) Jac is wearing on her FB page–are those from a recent collection and if so, any chance they will return? I would love large, chunky white bracelets for summer. Thank you.

    Barbara C.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Barbara……they are not ordered as yet but I will how them to my buyer for next spring 2013.

      1. Cathy

        Dear Louis,

Could I jump in here with a related request: While you’re showing jewelry to the buyer, my request would be the longer necklace with the big baroque pearls interspersed with crystals. I tried to buy when it came back in Limited Quantity, but something went wrong with the order; went to backorder, Q said they had, but it never happened …. I’d love to get that one, for winter or spring, or fall or summer for that matter 🙂

        Thanks,

        Cathy in PA

  15. Debbie

I always love the bold jewelry the models wear. Can you direct me where to find some pieces.

    Thanks
    Debbie

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Debbie, much of the jewelry are pieces I have collected over the years but many of the more ethnic beads and bracelets are from the Jacques Caracanagues Gallery in NYC at 21 Greene Street….it is a fantastic store to visit. Their web site is carcan@jcarcan.com, but it is mostly for their home decorations and furniture…and their antique jewelry. You should call and speak to Yvonne. Tell her you are a Linea Lady and a friend of mine. She will email you pictures of necklaces and bracelets both bangles and with stretch. She is a doll and very helpful. The things are very reasonable and nothing you will see anywhere else. I have turned on manyy of the Linea ladies to this jewelry and Yvonne and I’m afraid they have become addicted. Her phone # is 212-925-8110.

      1. TourEiffel

Hi Louis, Hi Debbie — I’m one of the Linea Ladies who has become addicted to this jewelry! I bought my first pieces in early February while on a business trip. Since then I’ve purchased more as a result of Yvonne’s helpful emails and photos. Many thanks, Louis, for turning us on to the gallery and to Yvonne! BTW, they have another website that shows the necklaces and bracelets: http://www.carcancollections.com. Happy shopping!

      2. Susana (Suzzeee)

I love Yvonne — she is so nice and extremely helpful! I have a bunch of gorgeous pieces on the way to me and already have my wish list going for the next pieces I want to order! Thanks so much Louis for connecting us with her!! I can’t wait to meet her next time I’m in NYC … although from the furniture I’ve seen on their website this could be an expensive trip;)

        1. Sherry

Yvonne is great to work with. A few minutes on the phone with her, and you feel as though you’ve known her for years. I have just gotten started, but have received some great pieces and have a wish list of pieces I’ll try to get in the coming months. Thanks you Louis, just love Yvonne, and love the jewely.

        2. Louis Dell'Olio

I have been shopping in the gallery for years…It has changed location in SOHO quite a few times but the selection is always exquisite. Jacques has incredible taste. He is rarely in the store these days and basically Yvonne runs the show. The furniture and home decorations are truly beautiful and every piece I own from them are always admired by friends. They really make a room look eclectic…..just my style………..

  16. Judi

    Louis-
You have brought denim to a new level…it’s fantastic!!!! I rec’d the jacket and jeans. The quality of the denim is the best, the tailoring is fantastic, your attention to detail is superb (as always). I hestitate to buy jeans without trying them on, but these fit like a glove and are so comfortable.
I can’t say enough about the maxi dresses, these will take me through the summer. And of course I’m looking forward to your mega-show the end of this month 🙂
Best wishes to you, Jac and your family for a Joyeous Easter.
    Regards
    Judi

  17. Susie (aka Sammijo)

    Hi, Louis!

I’ve fallen in love with the Safari dress and that moss color is lucious! I particularly love that the placket doesn’t go all the way to the hem so is precludes gap-osis in the leg/thigh area – brilliant! From the photos, it looks like the bottom is shaped like a pencil skirt – a bit more narrow at the hem than the hips. Am I seeing that correctly?

Also, although my plan is to wear the dress as a stand alone, I was wondering how well the moss color might play with the baby cheetah jacket in kiwi? Looking to do a whole ‘safari’ these look! I always feel more put together with a jacket, it seems. (And yours are the BEST!)

Finally, do you think you’ll ever be allowed to do pants in numbered sizes again? I don’t know how many are in the same boat, but I know I sure get a better fit when I can get a numbered size.

Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. (I hope three questions in one email doesn’t go over the limit! LOL)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Susie…..I am not loving the safari dress and the the Kiwi cheetah jacket. too many pockets of different sizes and the bottom pockets stick out. The safari dress is tapered at the bottom so it doesn’t flare out….hence the two side seam slits. YES, YES I will be doing more numbered pants starting this fall….
      ……..never too many questions……Louis

  18. Sharon Santourian-Holman

Louis just wanted to tell you I adore the new jeans! What a treat to put these on, dressy and comfortable enough to wear on casual Fridays at the office. Sitting at a desk all day is not a favorite thing for me in jeans. However yours will fit perfectly with the back elastic for all day sitting. I just ordered a second pair of the indigo (there were a couple still left in that color). I think we need another Q thread demanding another jean order and adding a fall color to the mix, like deep purple! 🙂 Thank you!

  19. Carol in FL

    Hi Louis,

I have received some of my items from your last shows–namely the denim jackets and pants. They are all that I hoped for and more. Thank you!

I have a few questions regarding the upcoming items.

    (1) The safari dress in moss is calling my name big time! Which of your sneak peak pictures most accurately reflects the green color?

    (2) Could you give us a sneak peak on the window pane print in cotton sateen? Ever since you first mentioned it I’ve been thinking about it. I love window pane prints!

    (3) Will there be any whisper knit v-neck pullover tops with elbow sleeves coming this year? Black would be great, but I love all the colors that you choose.

    (4) Finally, when will you be on in May and June?? A girl’s gotta plan!

Thanks again for all you do. My wardrobe has never looked better!

    Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
The picture that best depicts the Moss color is are the two in the upper left. The color is deeper than the lightest picture [due to flash]. It is a rich palm frond color. I will definitely have a sneak peek of the window pane jacket on the cotton sateen soon. There are no V-neck, elbow length sweaters in the works…..maybe for spring….it’s not that I haven’t sketched them [I’ve sketched every possible classic sweater in the WK imaginable]. My May date is 5/11….don’t know June yet…….Louis

      1. Carol in FL

Thanks, Louis for the quick reply. I’m still in amazement that I can actually ask you questions. Not only do you design the most amazing clothes with high end details, offer them at a price point accessible to most people, show us various styling options, coordinate the pieces from season to season, but you do it all in such a way that people know you are a kind, sincere, genuine person who cares about the women you design for. Have a happy Easter and thanks again for all you do.

        Carol

  20. Barbara

    Dear Louis,

I just received the denim blazers and matching pants in white and black. I love the pieces, however, I guessed wrong on the pant size–the size Small is too big; so I have reordered the black in an XS. However, the white XS is not available. I don’t know very much about tailoring, so I am wondering, if I take the pant to be altered, will it be a very big project? It looks as though the type of seams will allow for altering–but wanted your opinion before I do that. Thank you.

    Barbara

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Barbara….it really depends on how much has to be taken in. Anything can be altered…..it just depends on how big a job it is. Will you have to take it all from the side seams and how much of the pocket will be taken away. I am sure some of the fullness can come off the back where the elastic is since it is not a pull-on pant. You really have to try it on for your tailor and have if answer it for you before you go ahead with the job…….question…what size do you normally take in my pants? I know you usually like the tops in Med.

      1. Barbara

I think there may be two Barbara’s who write to you–I’m new. I take an XS in your tops, and thought I would wear a Small in your pants and skirts, but am finding that I am leaning more toward the XS, depending upon the fit. With these pants, if I pinch the back seam about an inch, the fit is much better. I do like my pants to be trim-fitting. I will take them to a tailor and see what adjustments can be made. I have the black fly-front slim leg pants in a Small, but just placed on order for XS in the fawn thinking that a bit smaller will be better. I am loving your clothes and think I am figuring which sizes work best for me. Thank you for your quick reply!

        Barbara

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Barbara….you are right….there are now two Barbaras! We’ll have to work something out so I know it’s you. In general, the QVC fit is ample and we are obliged to use there specific measurements. I would say you would be better off in the XS. Jac wears an xs top and bottom and she has broad shoulders, but the xs fits her much better in the body and the pant….which are always too short for her!I don’t think you will have any problem altering the pant by taking out some of the fullness in the back elastic.

          1. Barbara C.

Thank you so much. I will be Barbara C.!

          2. Barbara C.

            Dear Louis,

I had the size small white denim pants altered and they are much better. It is amazing what a few dollars ($16) spent on tailoring can do for a garment. The black denim pant in XS is perfect. The fawn fly-front slim pant in XS was much too small and I loved the color–what a great neutral. I don’t suppose those will be coming back? I really love that slim leg style pant. Thank you.

  21. Carol E McCormick

Naughty Jac for her scarey April Fools joke, although most pitbulls are quite gentle 🙂

Item number for long dress and accompanying “shrug”? Do we know when QVC will have them in their system?

Sorry to keep asking, but wouldn’t the boho skirt be nice in these turq and purple colors? Hot pink too? Please please, begging now.

xo to all, including “the girls”

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes the boho would be nice in these colors. Actually I can’t think of a color it wouldn’t be nice in….LOL

  22. Beano

Hi Louis – I don’t want to repeat a message but my last one seems to have disappeared. Although I love the embellished dress and look forward to wearing it back to front, it seems short for me. Is there a hem to let down?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Beano….I did answer your question…I don’t know where it went. Since this is a sweater dress there is no hem to let down

  23. lois patrick

    Hi Again,

Also could you provide the length of the sneak peek #5 dress? I am very tall and really love longer dresses.

    Thanks again.

    Lois

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Lois,
I have now posted the style # and the dress below the picture…..sorry for the omission. The dress is A223658 and the XS is approx. 52 inches from high shoulder point…………….Louis

  24. lois patrick

    Hi Louis,

Just looking at sneak peek #5 and I did not see an item number. Did I somehow miss it? I am making notes for your next show. Love this dress. Thanks.

    Lois

  25. Chris/Jazzmom

Want to say I love the denim pieces I purchased in black and white. The black will go with so many items in my wardrobe. I also love the satin trim peasant blouses I received in black and chambray blue. I did size down one size from my normal Linea sizing. The Pucci tops looked great in 2 of the 3 colors for me– yellow unfortunately for us olive skinned people is not my friend. I cannot wait to try on the maxi dress– its coming today. Thanks for all the great fashion.

  26. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

    Louis,
I dearly love all my new pieces from your March shows. Thank you so much! Kerry’s building me a new 15×7 walk-in closet to house it all – what a champ! I did try the denim pant in Indigo and the fit superb, but as expected too short. I will be sending them to the tailor to turn them into shorts. What length would you make these if they had been shorts?
Also – may I put my vote in for matching skirts, pencil preferably!
    Susan

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

First you have to tell me what lengths you are comfortable wearing….Bermuda, shorter? Since you will have them shortened you could also make them Capri length and have the tailor take in the flair and leave small slits. There is really a lot you can do. Are you still planning to wear them with the matching jacket?

      1. Sherry

Sorry to butt-in…So I could make these into slim leg pants with small slits at the ankle? What a great idea…as I don’t much care for boot-cut pants.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes Sherry….if you have a good tailor it’s easy to take them in to a slim leg. You can’t go the opposite way from a slim to a boot cut but, from a boot cut to a slim should be no problem.

          1. Sherry

Thank you so much, can’t wait to get the jacket and pants in white!!!

      2. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

I do plan to wear them with the jacket. In my day they would have been short shorts, but alas no longer. Either Bermuda length, or I put them up against the green crops from last year and thought I could use those as a ‘template’ for the tailor. What do you think would look best on Jac (as we are the same height)?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

I know Jac would wear them as crops before Bermudas….actually she wears shorts….and they are pretty short but she doesn’t own Bermudas……the closest thing she has to them are her bike shorts and those only work working out.

    2. Sheesh

Louis, I use to have a tailor who could make straight/pencil “trouser” skirts with a center seam down the front and back, out of trousers and they were just fantastic! So any of these ladies who find the jeans are too short can have trouser skirts made. Sadly, my tailor passed on, but when I saw those jeans, I immediately thought “trouser skirt”…!

      All the best, Sheesh

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

That’s a great idea….I have seen many jean skirts done that way…..if Kate reads this…it would be perfect for her…she wanted a pencil skirt…if there are any jeans left?

  27. Beano

Dear Louis’ I ordered the new dress in black. Love that it can be worn two ways but it looks a little short for me. Will there be a hem I can let down?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Hi Beano….it was fun speaking with you! No….this is a sweater knit dress not a cut and sew knit so there isn’t any hem.

  28. Diann Regelbrugge

    Hi Louis
Loved your shows. Was shredding invoices and noticed I was purchasing from you in 1997 and before. No wonder, I have so many beautiful items. Just wondering if you know anything about why the Sand pants and shell are backordered. The email I got
from QVC said they are trying to get more quanity from the manufacturer. I ordered at midnight and others who ordered during the day got theirs. Was there a bad batch or something? So disappointed if I can’t get them. But I will survive. Take care and thanks for making such quality clothes. Love to Jac and the kids too.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Diann,
I can assure you all of the pants that were ordered were delivered and all passed the QVC inspection……no bad batch. I have heard this complaint from many of you…..that you ordered at midnight but have received things that were ordered during the shows first. I have zero idea what the shipping policy is at QVC. Perhaps….just guessing here…..that clothes ordered during a show get priority attention and not single orders before a show starts. Why something ordered at midnight would go to back order is another mystery to me. I wish I could be more helpful with this question , but this is well out of my range of knowledge.

  29. Victoria

    Louis,
Can you sneak peek your shrug? Is it being held for the April show? Is it being shown with your ethnic print maxi? Help? I don’t want to buy anyone else’s shrug.

    Thanks!

    1. Victoria

Never mind answering my questions…you already have. I found the answer to my questions as I read through the the other inquiries on this page..This is going to be one beautiful summer for those of us buying these beautiful items…can’t wait. My latest purchases have been shipped…Yeah! I love my tribal print jackets with my bracelets and necklaces from Yvonne!

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

It does make a difference when you have the right accessories…so glad you and Yvonne have hooked up.

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Victoria, I use the term “shrug” loosely. It’s really a crop, jewel neck cardi with one button at the neck and elbow length sleeves. I find this length works best with dresses. This shrug is the same colors as a cotton/span knit tank maxi dress, not the ethnic print maxi coming in May. The shrug and the C.K. maxi will be on my next show and I will have a sneak peek shortly. I don’t want to pile one SP on top of the other……LOL

      1. Debbie M

        Please pile away! 🙂

  30. Kate

I paid for expedited shipping and came home today to find my denim pieces at the door. LDO, this fabric is on par with,if not better than, the really expensive Japanese denim of premium jeans(and I have a weakness for 200.00 jeans that I frequently indulge, so I can compare hand to hand!). It feels soft and broken-in, but still has enough body to look crisp–the closest I have seen to this is the denim from Habitual or Rag & Bone. I love the peplum which is flattering and flirty without trying to hard. Bought all three colors of the jacket and will be ordering an extra white when/if any come back in stock. Thanks for all that you do for us! Now, about the matching pencil skirt….

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I HEAR you Miss Kate…..If the jacket gets reordered I will try to get the pencil through. I would never make the fabric minimum order with just a skirt…..keep your fingers crossed that everyone likes it as much as you….LDO

      1. Carol

How about two lengths of pencil skirts? Would that make the minimum? I’d both both lengths in every color!

        crdlb

          1. MH-MN

Skirt and walking shorts? A shirt dress? Really, they should just order lots more pants. Mine won’t come until next week and then I’m sure to be kicking myself that I didn’t order duplicates.

            1. Celia

I DO hope for reorders on the jackets and for new skirts!!! I feel sure people will love the jackets- the stretch is amazing. Hopefully returns will be low…

  31. shay

hi louis…on am style(3/31) you had a beautiful maxi dress & described it as south seas flowers & ‘gogash'(spelling) style…i tried to google ‘gogash’ but couldn’t find anything…can you enlighten me? thanks

    1. Susana (Suzzeee)

Not LDO here but I believe he was referring to Gauguin as in Paul Gauguin… an artist famous for his Tahiti works.

    2. Tana

      Shay,
I think Louis was referring to the Post-Impressionist and Primitivist painter, Paul Gauguin.
He painted in deep, saturated, vivid colors and was inspired by his travels to Martinique, Tahiti and the like.
If you google him, you will see some of his paintings.

I ordered the dress in more than one color, and I’m looking forward to wearing them, as I do all of Louis’ beautiful designs.

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Susana and Tana….you are absolutely right….I love the island paintings of Paul Gauguin and he has inspired me often creating textiles….of course it was the women from Tahiti who actual created the prints way back when…..

  32. farmerwife

Louis, is there any reason the pucci inspired top was not presented? We were all wondering what happened, and you and Jac seemed surprised that it was not having a “formal presentation”. It is such a pretty top and I love all the things you have made from this fabric and have ordered more than my fair share of them.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I have no idea at all why it wasn’t presented. Kate, Maria and Chantal were dressed in them ready to come out…..even the stylist didn’t know they were going to be a “show and mention only”. A QVC term for when something is show on the screen but not a formal presentation. Even my buyer didn’t know they weren’t going to get air time???? I am trying to get them “formally shown on the April show, but they are avail to order now. Kate was so upset….she told me she really looked great in the yellow with my tobacco crop pant from 2 years back.I LOVE this print and was not happy it wasn’t given air time. The girls really had to scramble to get into their next outfits!! If they don’t give them air time on my April show… I will show them with the new crop pant that is also on my April show….there are more ways to skin a cat…..isn’t that a terrible expression?

      1. Sherry

Yes, if I used that expression around my “Meow Meow” (shes’s our outside wild cat, who adopted us a couple of years ago), she wouldn’t have anything else to do with me. LOL Wonder how that expression got started?

  33. Maria (Goldie76)

    Dear Louis,

I have only recently been turned on to your tasteful, chic and well-made line of clothing and accessories. You do brilliant work! You have a way of capturing classic styles with timely updates! I read your comments and preview for April 1, and I have a question: What is the difference between the pebble crepe pull-on skirt (A221804) and the new pebble crepe skirt (A223661)? Nothing came up when I punched in the numbers for the latter. I don’t know whether to buy A221804 or A223661 since I don’t know what A223661 looks like. Is it going to be shown in the future?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Hi Maria and welcome. A221804 is a straight pull-on skirt with a side slit and the new one A223661 is a two tiered fuller skirt….sort of a modified Boho. If you look at the video of A213621, the tunic, you will see Angela in the middle wearing the black A223661 and you can also look at the other skirt video. The new skirt ill be on my April show………..regards, Louis

    2. Maria (Goldie76)

      Dear Louis,

Thank you so much for your reply. With my particular build, I am going to go with A221804. I am familiar with its structure and how it fits since I bought it in the terracotta, which did not work for my coloring. Yes, I’m the nag who complained about the colors in your crayola box. And what did you do? You came back at us with an explosion of colors! By the way, I am on waitlist for that medallion top in the turquoise/green shades. If Maria the model can carry it, my coloring can carry it as well.

      Best regards,

      Maria (the “unmodel”)

    3. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Maria,
I am glad to be of help. You will find I try to keep the colors each month different but colors that will still work back and forth. One month neutrals, the next brights etc. etc. I know not every color works for everyone so I attempt to do a wide enough assortment with the limited amount of styles I have to work with…..to make everyone happy. Even Perfectly Pink doesn’t work for everyone!……………Louis

  34. Barbara

    Dear Louis,

Is the Kate shirt coming back? If so, may I have the item number? Thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

A214116, is the number of the Kate shirt and it will be returning in July in the original white navy and a new pale olive.

  35. Dariann

    Dear Louis,

I am already drooling over the ethnic print maxi dress that you are bringing to us in May. Can you tell me what material you are using for the dress and what type of sleeve it will have? Any other information about it would be well received as well.

Your shows were great this week – I’m awaiting my new goodies!

    Love to you & Jac,
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Dariann, the dress is sleeveless with a V-neck line. It is in my poly/span…..the same fabric as all of my print T-shirts. It’s a two color print…..i,e, bright blue and white with print borders in turquoise, bright blue and white, down the V and continuing under the bust and around the body to the back. It will come in two other color combinations…..but before that one is avail, I will have two other dresses on my April show…..you’ll have to wait for the sneak peeks!

  36. Clark55

LOUIS….I couldn’t make up my mind on which color maxi dress to purchase so I purchased all three colors. I know that I will love them all. I am now waiting anxiously for your April show. I feel like a child on Christmas Eve. I agree with you and others that a lot of the high priced clothes in the department stores are worthless. I have not found a West Coast boutique that compares to you in quality or price. Every time I wear your pieces I get so many compliments and constantly asked where I purchased them. That’s when I brag about my personal East Coast designer. Thank you.

    Clark55

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Clark55…….for 2/3rds of my career I made very expensive clothes using the finest fabrics produced in the world. Even the Anne Klein Bridge line was beautifully made with European fabrics. Today…..what I see in the stores is shocking…..cheap fabrics and poor workmanship and $200 and up for jackets. I can honestly say my Linea jackets are better. Don’t misunderstand me, “DESIGNER” lines like Armani, Prada, Dior etc etc. are in a class by themselves. I’m talking about the sportswear lines you see in Bloomies, Nordstrom, Neimans and Saks…….where is the quality….where are the special fabrics…..I hope you like your new dresses….it is a brand new fabric that I love and I am anxious to hear how you all like it.

  37. Susana (Suzzeee)

Loved so many things in the last shows…especially that floral maxi and denim jacket!! Did I hear correctly – the new mosaic skirt is coming in April and the new floral “prairie” skirt is coming in May? Is the “prairie” skirt in the same fabric as the boho? Also – the new jersey tank maxi/shrug and ethnic border maxi … when might we expect those to show up?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Susana,
For my next TWO hour show in April I will have the WK “shrug sweater”….it’s actually a cropped one button jewel neck cardigan, and the cotton/span knit, tank, A-Line dress maxi dress in REEF GREEN [a deep, rich tropical blue green], VIOLET and Black. The sneak peek mosaic skirt and shirt will also be on my April show along with my FAUX SHANTUNG SAFARI dress, and my new print cardigan….plus 5 other new things and 4 of your favorite reorders……..I’m afraid your heads will be spinning…LOL The maxi “prairie” skirt is for May and yes, it is in the same crinkle georgette as the Boho…..there are three different color combinations and they are ALL beautiful. That is one skirt I am sure will be bought in more than one color….at the price it’s being offered at …why not? The ethnic print maxi dress is also in May and that will be offered in 3 wonderful color combinations.

      1. Deb a/k/a jazz

        Let the sneak peeks begin!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

          Your Wish is my…………………………………………………….

      2. Susana (Suzzeee)

Wow – thanks for all of the great info! I have to get that tank maxi in Reef and of course the shrug to match!! Ditto for a couple skirts and the ethnic border print maxi! And…I do love a print skirt!!!

        1. Sherry

          Ditto on print skirts.

  38. Anonymous

    Louis
I ordered the maxi dress, which icannot wait to try on. I was relooking at some of the vidoes posted, what are colors in the mosaic skirts? I wanted to know, so i can get coordinating tops, or will you have new coordinating tops with the mosaic skirts. I simply love them. thanks

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The mosaic skirt will be avail in 2 different color combinations. Turquoise multi and Espresso multi. There are many colors in each print so I would wait to buy anything to go with them…..you already probably own a slew of things that will coordinate. I will have a matching shirt for a 2 piece dress look….odf course the shirt is terrific on it’s own with solids.

  39. Carol

    Louis:

So glad I ordered the orchid and the black maxi dresses at midnight! Can you remind me of what the colors are that coming in your shrug? I will need one for both of these dresses. I seem to remember black being one, but don’t know what the others will be.

I am definitely going to nab my embellished dress in navy before it goes the way of the maxi.

    thanks!

    crdlb

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The shrug is coming in Black and Violet and Reef Green. The black of course works with the black dress. The violet and the orchid do not match and are two different purples, but personally, I like them together anyway. Sometimes when it’s a little off it’s more interesting and it doesn’t look like a “set”…..the right accessories can bring the two colors together. The shrugs will go with a dress coming in April in the same three colors.

  40. Donita Jones

    Dear Mr. Dell Ollio,

I missed out on purchasing your beautiful goldstone cabochon cross pendant (QVC, J264036). HkI saw how gorgeous your clothes designs were and by chance checked on QVC to see if you also offered jewelry. I found the beautiful cross but it was marked as “not in stock” . . . My heart broke, forever I have had a picture of a similar cross that was brought up as treasure from a sunken Spanish galleon. Will you please consider making this incredible cross available again, or let me know where else I can purchase it. Thank you very much, Donita

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Donita……GOOD news….the cross, the Byzantine necklace that coordinates with it and all the pearls from fall have been REORDERED…..plus two new colors in the pearls. I will also be bringing in 3 new pieces for May-June. You can go to my Feb 2012 archives and scroll down to see the new pieces plus the cross you want……………Louis

      1. Carol

Are getting a hint about the color of the pearls? We pearl-a-holics don’t want to buy any other brand if we can get yours! Hoping for perfectly pink and navy, personally.

        crdlb

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

          Dear Carol,
I hate to spill the beads so early because everyone will want them yesterday, but the new colors are bronze and silver gray. Hopefully Navy and P.Pink will will eventually come, but they are not planned yet. The bronze pearls look gorgeous with the Byzantine necklace and the new Byzantine bead necklace coming in May-June. I especially love the Bronze beads mixed with the Spruce Green pearls or with the Wine pearls…..it looks very rich. I also think mixing the silver gray pearls with the dark gray pearls is super chic…..of course, wearing two strands of the silver pearls and doubling them up, so it looks like 4 strands, with some of my new heather gray pieces coming for Fall [hint hint], isn’t going to look too shabby either!!……I know my pearl-a-holics are going to go bonkers for these colors……..Louis

          1. Sherry

Yippee, heather gray for fall. Yippee for the silver gray pearls, too!

      2. Marcia

YEAHHHH! Was backordered and waitlisted on the pearls- so glad that they will return…menawhile will stalk the dark gray.

      3. Mary (Shopsy)

I feel so greedy asking, but are the 3 new pieces for May-June some of those gorgeous gold chains? If not this time, then perhaps sometime in the future?

Thank you for everything you do. I appreciate the passion and hard work that you and Jac have in getting these beautiful clothes to us. Blessings to you both.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Mary…..the chain necklace has not been reordered….the only thing left are the gold chain bracelets…..which will go with the chain hoop coming in May-June.

          1. Mary

The curb link necklace, right? I have that one, and the bracelet, and love it. Which is why I’d love to see more gold chains from you. You get the color, the weight, and the findings just right. It makes all the difference. I will continue to hope that the QVC buyer opens her eyes to those treasures.

  41. Carol E McCormick

You are both awesome, as always. I feel so blessed to be one of Louis’s “ladies.” I really don’t wear anything but Linea at this point.

Please please may I know which new colors of the boho skirt are coming? So far I have and love them ALL! Great for dressy, casual. For some reason 2x’s in all your clothes sell out so quickly :(. Have you noticed that?

I wish QVC would bring more in so we aren’t all desperately jumping on every new piece. People new to Linea who undoubtedly would love it as much as we do must constantly lose out if they aren’t familiar with checking here and ordering FAST and sacrificing sleep. I feel badly for them!

    XOXOXOXXOXOXOXOXO

    1. Carol

I have taupe and chili pepper on waitlist.

  42. Cathy

Great shows this morning, Louis and Jac! Great company while I work on a print deadline … will “see you” for dawn breakfast again this morning, sigh … So far, I’m at one white and one indigo denim jacket and one black satin trimmed georgette peasant blouse to go with my black satin trimmed boucle skirt with the little godet pleats; the thought of that outfit makes me just grin 🙂

On to the floral maxi dress in chartreuse and black, I think … and ??? We so appreciate all the hard work you and Jac do; we certainly got lots of model time this morning :)))

    Cathy in PA

  43. Nanc

    Hello Louis,

Thank you for the beautiful clothes you bring to QVC. I have one question about your boho skirt. I love the boho, the only problem I have is the length it is a little to long. Can the boho skirt be shortened? Thank you!

  44. Sherry

Will the “Pucci” inspired print top be getting a full presentation? Loved the way everything looked on the models; bought my sand and black in the faux de chine pieces and the white denim. Looking forward to the maxi dress on Saturday’s AM Style. See ya later.

  45. lois patrick

    Hi Louis,

Purchased much more than I anticipated. Your shows were terrific. Also hoping jet bead necklaces are in your jewelry line. Thanks.

    Lois

  46. Beano

Hi Louis. I loved talking to you. It’s hard to get through but I finally did and thanks for mentioning me on the 11 o’clock show, 8am here. I didn’t get much sleep but bought a lot of Linea! Limited only in that I already own a lot of what was shown.

I do hope the jet beads will be coming our way soon.

  47. Chris/Jazzmom

Glad we were able to order at midnight because if I waited for presentation of the denim pieces, I would have been out of luck!! Loved the hostess at 6AM who presented with you– she was very professional and looked fantastic in your clothing.

  48. nikki

    Hello Louis,
I loved this mornings show, and have preordered so many things( kimono jackets, pants, denim pants, tank…) I loved…. the sneak peek of the skirts, there are gorgeous. Your designs amaze me. I love how elegant it all looks and look forward to everything. Your wife looks amazing in everything. Looking forward to wearing all my new things.
    thankyou

  49. Celia

    Louis,

I loved this morning’s show. Those denim pants are fabulous, as is the jacket. I can’t wait to try them on with the striped sweater. Good luck on the 11:00 AM show!

    Love,
    Celia

  50. Barbara

    Dear Louis,

I am wearing the Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Fly Front Slim Leg Pants for the first time today in a size Small and I think they are a bit too big. I can have them altered but am wondering how they compare in fit with the new denim pants. Should I order a Small in the denim and have them altered if necessary, or if they running a little large, maybe the XS will work. Thanks so much!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Barbara, I think you should go with the small. Jac JUST tried on the XS and they fit her like a glove. Also, the length was not too bad on her 5 foot 10 and 1/4 frame……so for anyone shorter I think they will be Okay.

      1. Barbara

Thanks so much for your input on this. I am new to your line and have fallen in love with it! I’m trying to build my Linea wardrobe by selecting pieces that are still available (playing “catch-up”), while adding new pieces as they are introduced. Today I received the A213126 ivory anorak jack with roll tab sleeves and it is so pretty! I just placed an order for several additional pieces. It really helps to have your suggestions on size and should eliminate the need to return. One other thing–please ask beautiful Jac to share her secrets for staying in fabulous shape! 🙂

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

She works out at the gym every day…yoga, pilates and she takes a bar class and a class called “inside out”? and she eats only healthy food no junk ever!….that’s not me

  51. muzzimom (sandi)

If you’ve already answered this Louis, I apologize. What is the length of the petite pant coming 3/29? Thanks!

  52. ninjasmom

Hi Louis. Will the denim pants come in number or letter sizes,I usually like a little give in the waistline.Thanks. Liz

      1. ninjasmom

Thank you,That will be 4 pair for me!

  53. Carol in FL

    Hi Louis,

I have a question regarding the new denim jacket and pants. What is the feel or hand of the material? Is it soft like your brushed cotton or is it stiff with a starched feel or something in between? Thanks. I’m really looking forward to the shows and so appreciate not only the wonderful clothes that you bring to us, but also the “sneak peaks.” It makes it so much easier to plan a wardrobe.

    Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
If I close my eyes and feel them….the brushed cotton and the denim are similar. The brushed cotton is a little softer because of the finishing. The denim is a washed denim, which does break it down and gives the fabric a softness. The denim is definitely more pliable than the cotton sateen , which though smooth to the touch, has a crispness. It’s not at all like you common denim. It’s much lighter in weight………….Louis

      1. Carol in FL

Sounds perfect!!! Safe travels to you and Jac. See you soon!

        Carol

        1. Celia

          It does sound wonderful!

  54. Spagal/Kristen

    Louis,

Welcome home! A quick question on the maxi: love the green and hope it works for me. What are your thoughts on maxis for us short Linea Ladies? I’m 5’3″ and hourglass shaped…would wear a Small. If I got it shortened to the top of my foot would that be good? Or do you recommend I wait for a shorter dress (or make that one much shorter…a hem is a hem, after all). Your advice is much appreciated.

    Kristen/Spa

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Kristen,
The dress is very drapey and light weight so I think it will look great on you. I know there is a lot of controversy concerning maxi lengths on shorter women. I think the top of the foot would be a great length but if you still feel it’s too long you can always go shorter….even the boho skirt length would be fine, but I think that is a decision you can make when you try it on with the proper shoe. It’s a great dress and the fabric is really special……I truly think you should give it a try…..I don’t think you will be disappointed. Also the dress is slightly high waisted which gives a longer effect than if it were cut at the waist line.

      1. Kristen /spa

Wonderful! Thank you for such a quick reply 🙂

  55. Carmille

Hi Louis! Welcome back. Loved the pics of Jac and you in London! I am so looking forward to the Friday show – I want everything! I have a question, will you be bringing any pants in a navy crepe – maybe to match the navy blazer and skirt we just purchased? Would love navy pants to match. Any way this could happen in the future?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

If the blazer gets reordered next year I will suggest pants to match to the buyer. I always think we should offer a pant and a skirt but we end up choosing one bottom so we can have more varied pieces……

      1. Chris/Jazzmom

The buyer needs to order more sizes of the popular colors (ivory/navy) in the middle range– Smalls and Mediums! I would love a pair of ivory and/or navy crepe pants to have an entire ensemble. I would even love a red pair of pants too!

  56. voodoo

welcome back. we love the pictures, thank you. the uk is so lucky to have you as are we. can you say if the new mushroom color is a dark ivory or a light taupe? sorry if you answered this already. thanks

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes, I have been asked if it’s like the whitish ones or more like Shitaki or Portobello…..It’s a deep taupe….I am using to varieties of mushrooms for fall LOL…..Mushroom and Dark mushroom…they are complimentary to each other and look great with other colors. Describing color is really impossible, that’s the best I can do.

  57. Barbara Carroll

    Dear Louis,

I am fairly new to your line, and have collected quite a few lovely pieces! On Jac’s Facebook page, she is pictured in 2 or 3 different tank and sweater sets. I would love to have these basics–are they or will they be available? I have noticed tanks and sweaters on the QVC page, but don’t think they are matched to one another. Thank you so much.

    Barbara

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Barbara,
Jac is wearing The A217628,cardigan and the A217627 tank. I featured them early last fall in 4 colors. Unfortunately, neither style has been reordered. They were pretty much sold out from the first show and I still don’t think any are avail but you can check. I will be having many classic sweaters returning this fall….just not those two. I was very disappointed the cardigan wasn’t reordered because it is really perfect….I will try to do it again with a new A number….that is the only way I can repeat it, but it won’t be until next spring…………..regards, Louis

      1. Qulia

        Louis,

I can’t help jumping in here and saying how surprised I am that the cardigan and tank were not reordered. I thought that was a given. They are such classic staple pieces. And they flew out the door and so did any returns. I bought the cardigan and tank in black, aubergine and mallard blue and have worn them constantly. Got the matching turtlenecks, too, and layered them with the cardigans on the really cold days. I was able to grab the olive cardigan on ebay but unfortunately, I have not been able to get the the olive tank. I was so counting on that tank coming back. I need the olive not only to pair up with the cardigan but also with the olive crops and olive boho and to layer with the olive tribal cardigan (currently I am using the sand tank). Say it ain’t so. Here’s hoping you have an olive top in the future I can pair with those items.

        Regards,

        Julia

  58. Nancy [smilesalot]

    Dear Louis,

When you catch your breath.. I’m so bowled over by the kimono, tank and pants you are offering.
I think I need to have them in all colors.

Since I know the pants will be a bit too short I am wondering your opinion on this idea…
Shortening them so they just hit my ankle and wearing them deliberately as ankle pants. I cannot see where you describe them as flared so would this work in any way at all?
Thanks so much for your answer!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Nancy, The pant leg is basically straight….there isn’t any flair so shortening them would be fine. I can see them at the ankle or even shorter like the crop pebble pant from last spring I think they were a 26 inch inseam but I could check if you want. You have the advantage of trying different lengths with different shoes to see which you like best. We used to call the cropped easy pant “coolie” or “rickshaw” pants, but I think that may be politically incorrect now.Anyway, I think what you are suggesting will definitely work……Louis

      1. Victoria

        Louis,

I remember those pants and you are correct… defining the length of the pants in those terms today would be unacceptable, but those terms do help define the perfect look of the cropped pants I love. I love the length with flats or sandals. Oh those new sneak peek chic….dresses..wonderful!

      2. Nancy ( aka smilesalot)

        Dear Louis,
        Thank you so much!
You’ve now made it a slam dunk to get these stunning pants.
        I’m so excited.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Nancy….I had a thought! Since you are planning on shortening them….you may want to consider getting the petites!! I’m not sure what length they are but you can always check the click here measurement. the style number for the petite is A222269……I’m just not sure about the rise length, but it usually doesn’t change that much…….just a thought….

          1. LauraL

            Hi

Glad you had a good time in the UK. I have never been there in all of my travels. I will have to check it out on one of my trips.

Are you saying that Sneak Peak #7 pants are coming in petite and that the item number is A222269? If so I am one happy traveling lady.

            Please let me know

            Laura

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

That is correct. Both the faux de chine pull-on pant and the denim boot cut pant will be offered in petite length. The denim will has a different style # in petite also.

            2. LauraL

That is great news. Can you tell me the petitie item for the denim pants. These are now on my list and sometimes the only way to find them is to search for the item number.

              Thanks

          2. Nancy (smilesalot)

            Dear Louis,
I’m so tickled with your suggestion.
Thank you so much; I’ll check the click here measurements when they show up and make a choice then.

Thanks again for being so very “on the ball” for us.

  59. Carol

    Dear Louis:

Good Luck in the UK! We’re all rooting for you and Jac.

  60. Victoria

    Louis,
I was just revisiting the photos of your fabulous denim suits and when the collage is blown up to its larger scale…I see two prints that are not visible in the normal pictures…are those sweater prints? I see what looks like a navy and white print and what looks like an Ivory, gray and pink print? Did you put a sneak peek within a sneak peek? or am I just bonkers:)) and seeing things?

    1. Cathy

      Hi Victoria,

As Louis is in the UK, I’ll jump in here if I might … No, you’re not bonkers or seeing things; I asked Louis a while back, and it’s the Navy Hydrangea Top, blown up in the background. I had no idea it had those colors in, but if you go to the Sneak Peek of it, you can see those colors:) There is still a mysterious sweater to come though, in as Louis said “yummy summery colors”; I’m just DYING to see that one! Hope this helps,

      Cathy in PA

      1. Sherry

I can hardly wait to see these yummy sweater colors as well. Maybe that will be the sneak peak when Louis gets back; one more before the shows.

      2. Victoria

Thanks so much Cathy….I know Louis and Jac are in the UK…but I kept forgetting to ask him, so I thought I would leave that question for his return.
I will check out those sneak peaks…

  61. Julia

    Louis,

I know you get requests and sometimes you can make them happen even thought a lot is out of your hands. I just have to ask. The new notch collar blazer is so beautiful! Lovely fabric and cut. It looks like it cost three times the price or more. I also love the skirt. Ditto about the fabric, cut and expensive look (and liniing!). I would love to see contour waist pants in all three colors. The ivory would work as a winter white, the navy would be classic and lighter weight then the crepe contour waist pants, and red is such a hot color right now in a pant. Red pants with the black turtleneck or black mock neck or black tank! Wow! Or how about with that new Pucci top or the hydrangea in pink? I know you are shying away from color in pants but red is in a category of it’s own. How about next year bringing back this blazer with pants? It would “fly out the door” as they say. Please consider it. I’ll be happy to lobby the buyers on the forum.

    Julia

    1. Carol in FL

Yes, I second the vote for pants in ivory and navy to match the new notch collar blazer. Also, please more colors in the blazer–it’s one of my most favorite ever Linea! Thanks, Louis, for bringing such great clothes to us!

      Carol

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Carol I am happy the blazer didn’t disappoint. As for pants in that fabric and colors…well that is up to the buyers…….

        1. Carol in FL

Thanks, Louis. Have a safe and enjoyable trip. May all of your items be “sold-outs.” Looking forward to seeing you back in the states at the end of March. Take care.

          Carol

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Julia,
As you know I have absolutely ZERO say whether an item is reordered or not. It totally depends on returns. Sometimes the wait list is so large the item never “looks” like it is avail. However, the returns can still be high and are sent out to wait list customers…..leaving little or no inventory. It will take a good 3 months for them to analyze whether it has a reorder status.

      1. Julia

        Louis,

Thank you for answering me. A girl can dream. I have heard you say before in this blog that the buyers make the call on the orders and it continues to amaze me what great clothes and jewelry you are able to deliver to us despite the restrictions. I am awed by your talent (you make us all look SO good!) and impressed by how approachable and friendly you are AND how generous you are with your time explaining things to us. I also greatly appreciate how you are true to yourself and do not sacrifice style and quality. Hope you and Jac have a great trip to the U.K.

        Julia

        1. Sherry

Well said, Julia, and ditto on everything…”what she said”.

    3. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Julia,
I appreciate all of your comments. It really boils down to this. I have been in this business long enough, since 1969, and have had to deal with enough dishonest and truly evil people that at this point in my life I am not in any way going to compromise my principles. That is a large part of the reason I left the fashion world of 7th Ave.I enjoy designing and I enjoy being of help to all of you. The day that stops is the day I put away my sketch pads and pencils….but I hope that day is a long way off…….best regards, Louis

  62. Dariann

    Dear Louis,

Are the new faux de chine pants – A222267 similar in cut to your pull on straight leg pants – A221815? I purchased all four colors of these pants and adore the fit.

    Thanks,
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Dariann, I really can’t give you a good answer to your question because even though they are both pull-on pants, due to such different fabrics, you can not use the same pattern for both. The bottom opening of the faux e chine is 10 inches the bottom opening of the jersey is 11 1/4 inches. The jersey doesn’t have pockets and the faux de chine does. The jersey has a lot more stretch than the faux de chine and the drape of the fabrics is very different……the jersey will drape closer to the body. We always use the same fitting model for every garment so in that respect nothing changes, but each garment in each style and fabric is handled differently. If we used the jersey pattern for the CdeC the pant would be very tight…..so it is an impossible question for me to answer. What we try to accomplish is a flattering fit for each style. I think they are worth a try……regards, Louis

      1. Dariann

Thanks Louis. I now know that I need two pair of the black.
        Dariann

  63. nikki

I really love the new sneak peak, I was wondering about getting the sand kimono, can you help me decide how you would style this with the jeans? black, indigo or white and what color tank/shirt. ( ofcourse I am getting the black and i noticed that you described how you would style this with jeans so thanks for that) This will help me decide what color jeans and tanks to get. I look forward to your response to make my list and look forward to your shows

    1. nikki

Now that i am looking at the coral, how would you get the”street look for the coral also. Thanks, I think i would get more use out of them with jeans, just wanted you opinion on the styling to get the right pieces. Thanks for all you do

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

I would do the same with the coral kimono as I suggested with the sand. Keep it a mix of white and black under it and you can’t go wrong. Keep the pieces very casual [distressed jeans, cotton shirts etc] and the whole attitude will be casual.

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Nikki,
That’s a simple request. I will suggest different casual ways to wear the sand kimono for right now through the summer:
      1- black turtleneck, black jeans
2- black tank, white Kate shirt over it or any white cotton shirt you have] sleeves rolled up, black jeans
3-black v-neck sweater, black jeans or crop pants as, A223938, cotton sateen coming in April
4-black tank, black jeans or crop pants
5-White shirt and white crop pants…..a great summer way to wear it
6-Black shirt as the faux crepe de chine, white jeans or crop pants
      7-sand tank with black bottom
You really cant’s go wrong with ANY black or white top under it. My black mock neck short sleeve sweater would also be perfect with black or white bottoms. Gray jeans would also work. Chino or khaki bottoms [depending how the color looks with the sand would also work with a black tank or shirt. I did the sand tank so anyone who wants a matching under piece, with a black bottom, could have one.I think if you basically stick with these suggestions you can’t go wrong. To wear it dressier is easy. Just wear a dressier pant as my poly/rayon/span or my new jersey or the matching new faux de chine and any black top…..the right stretch lace tank or cami would look terrific too. Black jet jewelry is a must!
I hope I have given you enough to think about…………..regards, Louis

      1. nikki

Thankyou for your response, I just love the soft “blazer” option that this kimono offers. Very elegant Love it. Keep it coming.

  64. Inna

    Hi Louis!!!
I love the sneak peek#7 new pull on pants A222267 and tank tops. Do they have the same fabric content as A213216 safari style shirt/jacket (90% polyester, 10% spandex)? BTW: love those safari shirts.
Thank you for your reply and for everything you do!!!

      1. Inna

Thank you, thank you Louis!!! You’ve made my day!!! I love this fabric, so I will need two or three pairs of pants and the matching tanks.
I have a question for you about A222548 boot cut jeans: are those the same jeans that Brenda was wearing during the presentation of the double breasted jacket with your gold signature buttons? Thank you in advance for your reply.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

          Dear Inna,
Sorry for the delay….had to check the video. No, Brenda is not wearing my new jean. She is wearing a pr. of Jac’s old jeans LOL………..Louis

  65. Louis Dell'Olio

    Dear Sherry,
Bob Mackie warned me that they do things on a much smaller scale, They only use 2 models and Jac will make 3. I am bringing accessories but much fewer and the models will have to share….it’s just too much to bring.

    1. Sherry

It was just curiosity that drove that question. Having not seen any of their presentations, wondering what their viewers were going to see of the looks and such. I thought that (the accessories) would be a lot to have to travel with on a plane…not that it’s any less in a car. Thanks for talking with me.
