Goofy QVC is putting you on at 4:00 a.m. on 10/30 (2:00 a.m. MT) Somebody there needs a cat-of-nine-tails. Surely, they will reconsider.
Louis–
Any word from QVC about the missing wk pants in black, regular length, size small? Were they defective, or are they just floating about the warehouse, waiting to be found and entered into the inventory?
After more than a week, no one has yet claimed to have actually ordered or received them, so I am fairly confident they were never up for order.

I am checking into this with my manufacturer. I wasn’t aware of any problems, but I am not always informed unless a style has to be completely pulled like the spruce green suede jackets that were 90% damaged. Of course it would be MY favorite style that has problems.
Thanks, Louis. Of course, it’s everybody’s favorite item! That’s why I’m like a dog with a bone about them. Fortunately, I was able to order the XS in black, and to my surprise, they don’t fit half badly! In fact, they don’t seem much different from the smalls I was able to get in the other two colors. I would still want the small in black, should we be able to locate them, if for no other reason than the extra length. However, I can now sleep again knowing I have the black pants safely at home. LOL

BTW: My entire order arrived today and absolutely everything is just EXQUISITE. Thank you, thank you!
Louis, I have to post up here. The inseams of the WK pants, at least some, are all over the place. My black regular Large were at 30″, walnut were nearly 34″. I’m thrilled with the 30″ and I believe I read here that my long ones can in fact be blind stitched and pressed, yes?
I did start a thread on the Forum asking ladies to post their inseam measurements. I’m lucky to have what I did get but ladies could be returning these because of the manufacturing. Just a heads up.
I also need to write some letters to TPTB.
Dear Sharon,
Yes they can easily be shortened with the blind stitch and a good press. I think, but I don’t know this to be fact!…..the variation in length must happen in the pressing process. I can assure you they are not knit different lengths except the one length for petites and the one length for reg. The knitting is all done by computer and every single pant comes off the machines exactly the same…….that is why I think the extra length is happening when they are being pressed. It is very easy, especially with sweater knit pants, to stretch them while pressing. They could probably be shrunk back to the correct length, but I am not suggesting anyone try that. If someone wanted to they could try laying them flat on an ironing board at the desired length and try to steam them back into the correct length before returning them….or just have them hemmed. I have not heard any other complaints about the pants other than the length, and if you like them enough, that’s an easy fix.
Thank you and yes, I’m in love with the pant. I will try reshaping and if still too long, tailor for hemming.
I believe they do exist! From what I have gathered, but I don’t know if it’s TRUE!!!!The size small and 2x were in the same shipping box and it was waylaid, but they will be coming. I will check this out with my manufacturer. As I said, I do NOT KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE! I will check into it for sure.
I can tell you that there were also no 2X’s when I logged on, but since I know that there aren’t as many of those ordered, I could imagine those being sold out. However, this seems to be a plausible story, and I am sure looking foward to them arriving.
Thanks, again for your incomparable concern for the happiness of your customers!

Good Morning Louis, today is the 18th of September and I’m thinking we have had our sneak peek of the Houndstooth jacket and skirt and also the new coat in pink. So can I request that other new items be shown first such as new sweaters and whatever surprises you have in store. As you know your last show was very stressful so we need new happy clothes and sweaters always do that. It always seems pants are a disaster due to all the different body types we women have.
Soon….the Oct how is a month away and many women haven’t received the clothing they ordered from the last show. We all need a little respite between shows.
Pat, you did a magnificent job on your letter! You eloquently and clearly spelled out all the frustration and enthusiasm of the Linea Lady. Somehow, I think QVC and Mike George know all this, but they still don’t change their ways. Perhaps writing will change things. I’ll stand behind you and try to get my own letter off, too. I was thinking, if their objection is that many of us are “of a certain age” and don’t offer much of a financial future, QVC should keep in mind that the next group is moving up to that our age, too. Life just moves that way. You live, you get older. You’re in the desired demographic one day, and the next you’re not. QVC, just keep in mind that your 48-year-olds of today will be your 58- and 68-year-olds tomorrow. You can keep them if you always have something as desirable as the fashions of Lous Dell’Olio.
Louis, the crepe blouse with the streamers is fabulous! Got all 3 colors. Would love to see it in aubergine, navy, and persimmon next season. Do you think this may happen?
Birdie…..your guess is as good as mine…..time will tell!
Hi Louis,
Here is the letter I sent to QVC…It would be great if anyone who wants to see more Linea on QVC..print this out or write your own and send it this week.
Dear Mr. Mike George;
It is rare in today difficult economic climate to find a product that women are willing to spend their hard earned dollars on. Congratulations!!! You have found that in the clothing line Linea by Louis Dell Olio. But you need to know you are missing out on many more sales by never having enough inventory to meet your customers desire to purchase. This has not happened just one time or on just one item but apparently has been happening for years.
I understand that you must be cautious when ordering enough inventories for any given fashion Line.
Please read the forums for Linea by Louis Dell Olio. Louis is called Mr. five–star on QVC because his clothing always is the best quality available on QVC. He has an ever-growing fan club. But his fan club is very frustrated monthly by the lack of quantity available for sale from QVC.
I have resorted to taking the day off when I know he will be on the air, or staying awake until the early morning hours just to be able to try to order his clothing…many times I have ordered sight unseen with only an item number because if I waited his clothing would be sold out. I have also order a size larger than I need and tried shrinking the clothes in a hot dryer because there were simply not enough items in a size medium to order. Yes I know that sounds ridiculous….It is…
I cannot think of another designer who has so many fans with cash waiting to be spent…yet QVC seems to ignore the Linea by Louis Dell Olio fans and instead continue to offer thousands of Susan Graver, Isaac Mizarahilive and denim and co clothing, etc ….
I hope you will take the time to see that Louis clothing always brings five star reviews…I doubt much is returned because I never am able to get items from wait list, but if you see returns I would guess many times it is because out of desperation people order whatever size is available and hope that they can later be altered to fit. I know I tried purchasing some tops in a size larger than I wear and had to send them back because they could not be tailored to fit. It is so frustrating that the sizes your customers need are not ordered in sufficient quantity to fill the amount of orders Louis fans require. Yet you do not seem to do this to any other clothing line offered on the Q.
I am so sure of the quality to be received from Louis, I would offer to purchase as advanced order if this would help. Do not take my word for the amazing quality of his clothing. Take any whisper knit Linea item to any women in your family and see their reaction for yourself.
I am going to print our a few pages from his blogs. Please read them and PLEASE bring in more quantity of Linea by Louis Dell Olio.
Thank You,
In case any of your fans need the address it goes to:
Mike George, President & CEO QVC
1200 Wilson Drive, Studio Park
West Chester, PA 19380
That is a great letter, Pat.
Please send a letter to Mike George too, or just copy mine and sign it…they need to see that there are many of us willing to spend $ to get more inventory..
Dear Pat, thank you for believing in the line so much that you would go out of your way to show your support…….it is very appreciated…..Louis
Hello Louis – In love with the ‘new’ Fall Collection so far, especially the Town & Country spirited Blazers – Always have been passionate for a great Tweed or Plaid. With our (7) months of Winter here in AK – I truly appreciate the wool content – Sure do miss Boucle’, yet own enuf to keep me warm & happy to have in my closet of Fun Thanks to you & QVC! Is there any hope of re-stock of the knits offered in Persimmon (especially A217983 – also would love the whittling waist cardi in Cassis)? Thanks in advance for your time. P.S. Love the Feather Print Blouse & Skirt – also made to wear with leather – jackets, belts & boots – My ‘new’ favorite print this season.
Dear Pamela,
The persimmon sweater, if it does well, will not appear again until next year. There may be a return that shows up due to ordering the wrong size, or a cancellation. They usually show up a month after the show when the dust has settled and the return period is over, so don’t give up hope. The cassis color has been retired, so there will not be any more of those. Those that have it really have something special because there were not a great deal of them produced. More than likely they will never see anyone else wearing it. I guess in AK the snow isn’t that far away?
Thanks Louis for your prompt reply – Yes, termination dust has hit the 2,000 foot mark of the Chugach Mountains which surround Anchorage & Cook Inlet. Winter IS coming! Unless you & Jacq love to ski, come see us in June – Summer is Alaska’s best kept secret.
Look forward to your upcoming show(s). Take care, Pamela in Anchorage
Louis, do you have anything brocade coming up?
Dear Birdie……I do not have anything in brocade coming up.I happen to love brocade when it is rich looking……I have tried in the past to do brocade jackets, but it is always given a pass. It’s definitely a riskier buy….you either love it or hate it. Many think it is “old” looking, but it is very couture and can be mixed with other things to look very edgy. If I see one that I think is exceptional I will give it another try.
Thanks, Louis. I appreciate your passion and commitment.
Loved this early fall collection — probably got one of almost everything! The collection is certainly comparable to any high end box store or boutique and I do shop there from time to time. I have been so satisfied with exceptional quality and detail in the design and manufacture – so in my first post, I wanted to say thank you!! Had a questions about the sunburst pleated skirt (100% poly) which I absolutely love becaus I sat at a desk for about 12 hours and this skirt looked fabulous all day. I got compliments both coming to and leaving the office. Stunning skirt!! Since I plan to wear this pleated skirt for years to come, how is the best way to store this one? Hanger in the closet? Rolled as you did on the show? Thanks again.
Dear Betsy.
I am happy to hear you are happy with the skirt. Since this is a woven fabric and not a knit, it is safe to hang in the closet keeping the pleats hanging straight.
Hi, again, Louis. I just noticed my friend Venessa had a blog right next to mine. She is the lady who told me about you originally and who dresses beautifully (mostly in your clothes!)
Hi, Louis, I ordered two python print dresses; one for me and one for a friend in the same size (medium) in cp and stone. We received them today, and we can’t believe how fantastic they look on both of us. It’s the best fitting dress ever. My question is are you planning to do this style in other prints or colors? I think it should be one of your classics. Thanks so much.
Dear Eileen….I am very happy to hear both you and your friend like the python print dress. I’ll have to wait and see how well it does before I think about repeating it. I think this dress is a sleeper, and I think many women were afraid to try it. The ones that did, like yourself, are generally very happy with the fabric, print, style and fit of the dress. I have been watching the Spring 2013 European shows and many of the designers are still showing plenty of python prints, so it is definitely here to stay for quite some time.Enjoy!
No questions, Louis! Just wanted you to know that I received everything ordered this month (had a terrible time last month)! I love every piece….tunic in both colors, tarragon skirt and jacket, black pant…etc! LOVE them all!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Dear Louis,
At this time, do you and QVC have plans to reorder the Blouse with Removable Tie (A-228338) and the Sunburst Pleat Skirt (A-228339)? I’m certain that there are quite a few of your Linea Ladies who passed on these but regret it now. I’m certainly one.
Dear Maria,
All reorders are at the discretion of QVC. It takes 3 months to see if an item meets the criteria for reordering and then it takes 6 to 8 months to produce and get on air, so I doubt you will see any more of this style unless there are returns or cancellations.
There are returns on the blouse, the leather jacket, etc. Unbelievable.
Hello Louis,
I had fun writing my reviews after receiving the suggestion from one of the ladies. Can I please ask you if you can make a aubergine skirt sometime in the future, I bought the persimmon cardigan and would love to put together the look with the aubergine skirt as in Sneak Peak #8, however there are no aubergine skirts in inventory. That is just stunning and not something one sees every day. This weekend I wore both of cardigans ( in tarragon and persimmon ) and a lot of people told me how beautiful the colors were. Ofcourse I told them where to buy it. Thankyou for all my beautiful clothes. You have no idea how it feels to be put together for a this former “nerd” with little fashion sense. It is evolving as I wear your clothes and listen to your ideas.
Dear Nikki,
If the knit pencil skirt gets reordered I will do it in Aubergine……if not, I will come up with a new skirt this fall and Aubergine will definitely be one of the colors…..
IF??? No if! When! That skirt must NOT be discontinued! Please!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t have all the colors yet!
Nikki, is that the skirt you were talking about?
Any aubergine skirt will be fine, but a long one to wear with boots would fit my casual lifestyle better. Thankyou
Hi Louis:
Loved your shows and still shopping 😉 Question: does the Jewel Neck Sweater w/ Rib Detail in grape coordinate with the knit pencil skirt in the Cassis?
Also, thank you sooo much for bring the houndstooth check skirt back! I missed out the last time and I am thrilled to know its coming soon!
Best,SOLDOUT
Dear Soldout,
“Coordinates ” is a tricky word, because it is all subjective. First, the colors are very different. The grape is definitely more purple next to the cassis which is more red. I happen to like mixing colors so I say yes, however to make it more palatable or understandable, it is best to pull the two colors together with accessories. The printed velvet pieces coming up in Oct. have both the grape [which will be called violet] and a cassis color in it so either color can be worn with it. If you like the idea of fuchsia and purple together, then I think you will like the grape ans cassis [thought this is a little more subtle].
The hounds tooth check, “HTC”, is a terric skirt in both the classic black/ivory and the new violet/black. I even like mixing the two together….i.e. blk/ivory jacket over the grape sweater and the violet/black HTC looks exciting and very unexpected…..thow the violet HTC scarf over the jacket and it looks incredible. It’s a “BIG CITY LOOK”……not for the timid.
Louis,
I just wanted to be aware that the qvc website is not letting me write reviews, it comes up with an error message. I havetried to write reviews over a course of several days. I know this is happening to a lot of people. As you are discussing things with qvc I just wanted to let you know.
Thank you nikki…..I will let my buyer know.
Reply to Nikki……. I too have had a problem writing reviews……. have reported it several times and they are supposedly working on it. I found a way around it…….. Go to your acct and pull up your orders…… then type in the number of the item in the box above……. I get an message that says are you sure or something ……… and I say Yes and I get the item number pulled up from there and a chance to write a review……… It is a different path, maybe not the correct one, but it gets me there……..
Dear Nikki, I posted this yesterday on the QVC Community Blog:
ENTERING THIS PORTAL FOR REVIEWS HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL FOR ME
As I wrote recently in response to another post, I have had no glitches or push-back when following this manner of submitting reviews:
1. Sign in. (You can also go to “Order Status” first, which will prompt you to sign in.)
2. Go to “Order Status” — not “Louis Dell Olio” — to find the product you wish to review.
3. Click on the item you wish to review from your personal order list.
4. Click on “Write a Review” and key in your review.
Hope this mode continues to be successful.
I was able to do that, however, not everyone is going to know how to do this. THe process should be a lot simpler like it used to be. Thanks for your tips. I hope other people who are getting the error message see this post.
That’s my hope, too. My reason for continuing to post it…
Louis: Your houndstooth is out of this world – love the jacket and the skirt AND the scarf, what an ensemble. Also the Rose Quartz/Black coat is beautiful – you should have a blowout in October.
I guess I was one of the fortunate ones to get all of the things I wanted to order. I still have not received the WK pants which I ordered at 3:00 a.m. because I just happened to wake up and thought I would give it a try. They still have not arrived, but seem to be on their way. The tweed jacket, WK sweater, pleated skirt, and blouse have all arrived and are wonderful. Black leather jacket on its way as well……..Lucky me I guess, but sounds like many people were left out and that is BAD….. I will comment on line as well…….. I was surprised that QVC posted these items early as they usually do not post them that early do they??? One never knows what is happening next with this.
Louia, I had to let you know how fabulous I felt today. I am a plus-size woman but have worn your clothes since you first joined QVC – was it 2001? The outfit today – the openwork tunic and tank from your June show (A224875) in olive, along with olive gaberdine slacks from last year, plus the gold chain dangle hoop earings and gold chain bracelets. Simple but elegant – and the perfect transition for a September day. Fall color, but lightweight to allow for the warm weather. I felt like a million dollars and got many compliments, including individual ones on the earrings and tunic. I am weeding out my other clothes and will soon have 100% Linea in my wardrobe. You are absolutely the BEST!!!
Actually Joyce it was 2000….a very easy number for me to remember…..Your oufit sounds wonderful!….. and I’m glad to hear you had the olive pants from a few seasons ago to pull it all together….you jewelry choices sound perfect. I LOVE the chain hoop earrings and they can go with so much. I hope when the weather really starts to cool down you will think of other laying pieces you can wear under your open work tunic. The WK turtle neck in Olive or Aubergine wil look great under it….even BLACK will be fabulous…..no need to ever put it away…..winter LACE is a huge trend…..and I will have plenty of it, so you already have a head start! ENJOY……and keep looking fantastic!
Dear Joyce……don’t forget to leave you comments, if you haven’t already, on the Linea site…..it does matter!
Louis, Thank you SO much for the advice you gave me prior to the shows about the sunburst pleat skirt in plus sizes. With confidence from that advice I ordered the black – this skirt was one of the early-posted items, I haven’t yet received other things from the show – but I LOVED that skirt SO much I immediately ordered the tarragon which luckily, given all the sell outs, was still available. Some of the mojo in this skirt is in the length – just perfect. And the fabric is as light in weight as you said. Most importanty for me, magically it seems, those pleats just add nothing around the hip/stomach area. AND the pleats hold beautifully. I tried sitting in it and working at the computer and when I stood up, they were crisp and neat all around the body just like they came out of the bag. What a great skirt! Thank you for it! (aka TheOwl)
Nancy…..when I designed the skirt I had doubts whether it would be something my plus ladies would try, but when I saw it on my plus model and she LOVED it…..I though, OK now I really have to convince them it will be flattering. I am so happy to hear you took the leap! and you truly love it. Isn’t it a nice alternative to pants all the time! Enjoy!
Dear Louis:
I know you’re fed up with hearing all of our whining about low inventory, but I do think there is a snafu regarding the small Black WK pants in the regular length. I’ve posted a thread asking anyone who was able to order them to come forward, and so far, no one has confirmed that they ordered them. Perhaps you could let your buyer know that they may have gone astray? QVC can check on that thread, too, if they doubt it.
Sorry to complain, but you know those pants are just the best ever and we may never see them again!
I just received the tweed blazers, along with the tarragon skirt and blouse in that divine crepe. I can only echo the praise heaped upon you by your other fans. Scrumptious!
Sincerely,
crdlb
Dear Louis:
Just to let you know that your line is superb! I have closets of your things and love them all. Thanks for all you do and for all your instructions when you present your line. You not only have great instincts fashion-wise but teaching skills as well.
God bless!
Thank you….when I was a quest “Designer Critic” at Parsons school of Design…..I really enjoyed working and teaching the students….it’s too bad they did away with that program
Dear Louis
Love the leather/knot combo jacket. wanted it in black but sold out so got it in the tarragon and it is fabulous…please please convince qvc to reup and get more of the black in! I am a plus size and the knit is exactly what I need to get the chic look of leather without the bulk of an entire leather jacket!
Louis, I got both colors in the jackets. I love them. They are GEORGOUS. I would love one in walnut. Can you please put that on your list if it is reordered. Thankyou for all my beautiful clothes.
What do you mean you got both colors, but you want the walnut? You do realize I have absolutely nothing to do with what QVC decides or doesn’t decide to reorder…..
I will have some wonderfull things to go with your tarragon jacket on the Oct show….Reordering anjything is up to QVC.
Ladies: I spoke with a supervisor at Customer Service, if a designer has a lot of returns, that designer has a hard go of it next time. So to all of those who order multiples in different sizes to see if one or the other fits and then returns an item, we need to protect Louis or QVC will just limit everything and we will be in a sticky wicket. The proof is the wide leg yoga pants, they are constantly showing new sizes (and these are returns). Also, the black leather jacket has returns. All that costs QVC money. Also, IF YOU ORDER AT MIDNIGHT, BEWARE. If Louis has a big inventory after a couple of months, that’s something Q looks at. At 11:00 p.m., Mountain Time where I live, (it’s 1:00 a.m. ET), QVC updates for one whole hour and things will get dropped – you can’t order, you can’t delete, you are stuck until their updating is done. So get up at 3:00 a.m. and order.
And one more thing, you remind them that YOU pay their salaries along with Mike George their CEO, and all those models and hosts they scatter along the the set. YOUR hard earned money is keeping them on the air. Also, it’s not cheap living in West Chester, PA, believe me where their station is located. So demand service because YOU are the most important person in QVC’s life.
Louis, the tarragon leather and knit jacket is SUPERB! top quality, comfortable and the knit gives the jacket a big of ‘give’ that is very forgiving for those of us with some figure issues. Now you are tempting me with MORE new things to go with the tarragon jacket? After I tarragon-ed out on the last show? Well, as you know, if it’s green and its Lineaa, it’s going to be in my closet. Now if the Q warehouse will just ship my WK knit pants in tarragon, which they have put on “backorder” even though I ordered long before the show went on air.,– Blinddogs
Blinddogs….you made my morning! I am so happy when you like the clothes. I don’t want to be an enabler, but I will have an “Art Nouveaux/Baroque” printed stretch velvet top that was designed to go with the tweeds and ‘leather” jackets. You may ask why wasn’t it on the last show…..I asked the same quetion!! There is also a long skirt in the same print that can be worn with the top or as a separate with solid sweaters……the top is really like a V-neck velvet T-shirt. These prints will also work with some new solid jackets I have planned for Oct……they are in a wonderful wool blend…..in saturated, glorious colors…..I HOPE you get those darn pants!!!!! Obviously….Totally under bought……..Have a great day…………Louis
I knew it! I just knew you would have created a pattern to go with the tweeds. You needed tow two-hour shows in September. How they wil ever fit it all into October is a mystery. Be prepared to talk fast!
Dear Kate,
I have asked myself the same question…..I am thinking they will give me some “outside hits” at the last minute…..you know “The morning show with Pat and Jane”………or “Q Check”…..I hope not. I think it disrupts the thought process when these coordinates are taken out, but again, it’s not my choice….if it happens I will let you all know………….”when you are given lemons you make lemonade”.
Yes, you are an ‘enabler’ but of the most gracious sort! That velvet print top sounds wonderful. Maybe that will be my solution to the latest Q ordering fiasco– instead of the tarragon WK jewel knit top/tunic, they sent me the tie blouse. (Which I had already ordered separately, along with the leather jacket) Now I have two tie blouses and no WK tunic top– it is sold out at the momnent in my size. By the way, all 3 colors of the WK pants that I ordered are in limbo– 1 backorder, 2 in perpetual “in process.” GRRRR. But I have submitted a review for the leather jacket and will do the same if I ever receive the other items I ordered!-Blinddogs
For a company that is strictly mail order, you would think these mistakes would not happen…..how many years have they been in business? I HOPE you get your tunic because I know you will love it. The velvet top is pretty and works just as well, but it’s a very different look.
Here we go again, Louis :-(. Nothing in my last order has shipped and one item, the WK tunic in Walnut, has gone to Backorder. The rest is In Process, including the tweed jacket in Walnut, matching WK pants, the dress, and the scarf print. What is going on with these people?!!! To say that I am fed up with these people is an understatement. I didn’t order at midnight but before the show, right before we were leaving for the day here in Vienna. Have you heard other reports of this? Thanks so much.
Call Customer Service and really complain, I did, and they Fed Ex me overnight, all my stuff, NO CHARGE. You have to complain and complain.
ABSOLUTELY…..the squeeky wheel gets the grease!
My question is more biographical, rather than about fashion. I am trying to research Teal Traina, would you know where I could find a photo of him? I knew him when he lived in Bayville, New York. He shopped in my brother’s little supermarket. I am writing an article for a magazine. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Anna
Dear Anna,
I really have no idea. Since you must have already tried to google him, I would suggest seeing if there were any articles written about him in Womens Wear Daily……late 60s early 70s
Check the Bayville Public Library too, they may have local papers on microfilm (call ahead first) with articles about the man.
With so many of us already having bought the leather/knit combo jacket — and many others hankering to buy it — you’re going to have a posse of biker babes identifying themselves as Linea Ladies. 🙂 Of course the jacket is very chic and ladylike, so there is no mislabeling your gals. You are so right, the jacket is boutique-worthy.
Dear Louis….. Can you possibly tell us what new things are coming through the end of the year. I don’t want item numbers or sneak peeks til you are ready, but beside the hounds tooth items and whisper knit tops, it would be helpful to know what kind of items are coming so we can plan and dream and make better decisions…….. I love everything I have gotten so far
Dear Louis,
I have some whisper knit requests. V neck or scoop neck, or any neck is short sleeves as in the mock necks.
I adore the rest of my haul, WK tunics and the leather jackets,,Ooh La La!!!
Hi Louis… I’m still waiting for my haul to arrive, but the pony express is not so express these days! I have a request (no, I’m not going to ask you to sing!)… one of the most surprising and beautiful items that I’ve purchased in a long time is the V NECK BUTTON FRONT SWEATER (A219797), that I commented on in on of my other notes to you. Surprising, because on air it looks like a nice little cardi. In person, it’s much more than that. I ADORE the cut, the length, the weight of the piece, the drape, and purchased all 3 colors. PLEASE, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE consider this in other colors. I LOVE grays, and I’m a fuschia girl too … but I would grab this in almost any color. I’m going to comment on this on the Q website, again, because I’m not sure if our LLs realize how great a piece this is.
I am in ALL Linea today (except for the bra, panties and shoes, but if you made those, it would be 100% !!!), which I often am… if not, I’m always wearing one of your pieces. Our East Coast (I moved to Chicago 15 years ago … for love!, but I’m a NYer to the core) Sales Rep always says that I’m one of the best dressed women that he knows (he’s in town, and just made that comment yesterday again)… it’s all YOU (with a little creativity from me as well !!!!!), for which I thank you.
xoxo
It’s coming! It is part of my new “Essential ” package, but it will only be sold on the website….no air time for these as they sell on their own. HOWEVER, it will not be the same A number. The cardigan was not going to be reordered! Would you believe it with the demand!! BUT, the returns were just over the limit. This I couldn’t believe…..sometimes I just have to shake my head. I convinced the buyer that there were plenty of women who wanted this cardigan…I pointed out to her that there was zero inventory from the day we sold it, which meant the wait list was verrrrry big. So…..the cardigan IS coming back but it can’t be under the same style number since it isn’t considered a reorder….what can I say….corporate stuff….I don’t care as long as it is coming back. If the same thing happens with returns this time around……this will be the last of this cardigan…..I can’t convince them twice….nor would I want to. I do not have the A number yet., but I will have sneak peeks at the appropriate time.
Louis, such wonderful news! I am so glad to hear that the A219797 cardigan will be returning. Thank you for fighting for us.I lived in those last fall/winter. They are the perfect outerwear for Florida during cooler seasons, yet are still light enough to wear indoors. I bought every color last season and will buy every color you bring this year. I know some of the returns were because some said they were concerned about the weave/finish at the neck, but mine got a rough test drive, and I can attest that mine had no problem with wear. The neck finish held up fine. It’s a great garment and I joined NYC1 in its acclaim over on the LDO forum.
Any chance one of the colors this year will be the dark mushroom? I have the knit skirt in that color. I love this cardi with those skirts. It provides such a polished suit look.
Dear Diamonscribe…..sorry but I misunderstood. This is not the cardigan I was talking about and it will not be coming back. I realize that many women thought the way the cardigan was finished at the back neck was a defect, but axctually it was not. This is one the ways to finish off “every needle rib” sweaters. It may look like it’s going to come apart but it will not……therefore there were a lot of returns, but the cardigan is actually fine. This cardigan was copied EXACTLY from a vintage Anne Klein sweater thet I have. Trust me the sweater is over 20 years old and in perfect condition…..nothing has unraveled. Now the cardigan that is coming back is the whisper knit from last fall. It was in black, aubergine, olive and mallard blue. Women begged to bring this back and I battled to reinstate it…..even though it will have a new A#. Did you have this cardigan in the whisper knit?
Oh, yes. Every color. I love that one also and will buy every new color you bring in that one. I also love the matching scoop neck shell. I think that may also have been why some of the WK cardi were returned – when some couldn’t get the coordinated pieces to go with it. They sure sold out fast. I was a bit surprised that A219797 was the one returning because I know some buyers didn’t understand that the neck wasn’t fragile. I can attest to that. It is a shame that the vest-front one was misunderstood by some of the ladies because it is such a splendid design. I expect to wear mine another 20 years just like your vintage Ann Klein one. Thank you so much for your wonderful sweaters.
this time around there will be more than one choice of layering pieces to go under the two types of cardigans….one is the classic cardigan as we just discussed…….. the other is a kimono which is WONDERFUL
Louis, the one I mentioned was from this year in fawn, perfectly pink and black (85 acrylic/15 wool), and has the V cut out. I have all 3 colors and would love more. It’s just about all sold out.
Doesn’t the other one have a crew neck in the WK? I have that too, and love it, but prefer the V cut (a219797). Wore it to work today in the black!
Thanks Louis.
Have a wonderful weekend.
The WK cardigan has a classic V-neck with long sleeve and a nice length….not short, not long.
Hi again, Louis. The first piece of my “haul” arrived today—the Black leather and Knit jacket and it is divine. I’m a short-armed gal and I can either push the sleeves up or roll them over once for a cuffed look and it works just fine. If this jacket is a “success” would you consider bringing it back next year in an Aubergine or Cranberry color and also in Navy. I travel a lot and this is the perfect travel jacket and has great flexibility for wearing on planes when you don’t want anything too bulky. This jacket is a must have. Thanks for bringing it to us, Louis.
Dear Sheesh,
Happy to hear you are happy with your leather jacket. If the leather jacket, becomes a reorder, wouldn’t that be great, I will certainly keep Aubergine or a cherry red at the top of my list.
Good morning Louis,
What kept me from purchasing this jacket was because there was no British tan or dark brown shade available. Please consider this popular color if it becomes a reorder. Thanks for the great clothes– I love the tarragon tweed jacket and its fitted as you mentioned not semi fitted as the Q website states.
Regards, Chris
Oh, Louis, I didn’t dare ask for Cherry Red—but YES, YES, YES…that is truly what I really crave…I’ve been a real red girl my entire life. Fingers crossed that you can do a reorder on this great jacket. Love to you and Jac……Sheesh
Hi Louis,I ordered almost all of the last collection,I have been waiting for the wk pants for a long time.I cannot wait to receive them.I have a question. Will you be doing any lighter layering pieces such as tanks and tees.I would like to have something for under all of my beautiful jackets. Thanks for all you do,Liz
Fear Liz,
I have a whole group of “Whisper Knit” sweaters………cardigans, tanks, short sleeve scoop necks, short sleeve V-necks and more coming out by ther end of the year. You will have plenty to pick from!
Hello Louis, I have to ask if there is any chance that the WK pants would be reordered this season? I had all the pants and sweaters ordered before Midnight and somehow my whole order got canceled and QVC told me they didn’t know what happened and all the ladies love them so I don’t think they will send them back, so I thought I would ask if they would order more.
Dear Sharon………It takes three months and sometimes longer for the people at the Q who are responcible for reorders to make that judgement and then another 3 to four months for production [knits take a long time], so I am sure there won’t bhe any more produced until next year, and that is if there aren’t too many returns. I am sure there will be returns because many women bought more than one size and are sure to return what theyb don’t want so keep an eye out.
Dear Louis: How long before longer jackets come back and not stop at the waist? I know they say they make the legs look longer, but the top of the body looks like a bubble – just my humble opinion.
Dear Toni,
I have some longer jackets in inventory now. The brushed cotton jacket with the zip pockets in the black, olive and peacock. I will have a longer jacket in Feb.
Thank you Louis, bless you.
Toni… I’m with you!!!! I personally don’t care for these shorties, and think the slightly longer jackets are much more beautiful and flattering (to everyone, except maybe Joan Rivers who is probably not even 5′ tall!).
Add me to that “longer jacket” list too! A couple of inches longer on the jackets and I look svelte. A couple of inches shorter and it’s “dumpy”. (aka TheOwl)
Don’t have a question, just an opinion. I too wanted to preorder your black leather jacket (before the show) and was told it was not available (QVC site marked the item # sold out the whole Monday morning) and there is no waitlist! This is very disappointing. I have to wonder about those who make the decisions! Keep up the good work Louis! P.S. I do not believe selling a more expensive jacket will be an issue with your followers.
Yes, I know. Always asking for more, more, more! I LOVE the new Whisper Knit pants and am leading the charge for new colors next fall. Navy, charcoal gray, maybe greige? And, I adore the fabric from which the tweed jacket is made, so requesting/hinting/maybe demanding a Chanel-esque version from this material. You know, shorter, buttons, curved in waist, some trim around the bottom and sleeves–I will sew my own chain around hem! Oh, and a matching skirt, please.
I agree with ” the other Kate”, it you don’t LOVE it on you…..don’t keep it. Go on wait list for the black….you know your size so you’re 50% there. There is always a percentage of women who will return for one reason or another, so you may be lucky. I don’t want you to keep anything you aren’t absolutely in LOVE with!
MORE MORE MORE….there are 7 or 8 new WHISPER KNIT sweaters coming before the end of the year…..and you will still say MORE MORE MORE! We will see about the jacket….I have something planned for next May….not quite what you asked for but it is Chanel-esque…..though I have been warned….. it may be too expensive for the Q….we’ll see.
Sigh, love me some new WK sweaters. Hey, it’s cold in Boston, I need warm clothes! QVC has trained its customers to think that everything sold on the channel has to be a “deal” or a “steal”. I would venture to say that most women who do shop recognize that 200.00 for a well made jacket is where prices start and go up from there. I’m hoping that as there was no price resistance this time around to 160.00 leather jackets and 80.00 silk/cashmere sweaters that the Q will allow you to test the waters with a jacket closer to the 100.00 mark and see what happens. Rachel Zoe was allowed to bring in jackets (in numerical sizes, no less) around 150.00 and they sold well. I know you will fight the good fight on our behalf!
I second this!! Kate is exactly right.
I agree with Kate and Debbie. The proposed jacket sounds beautiful. QVC should understand that a segment of its customer base not only would purchase such a jacket but actually yearns for such fine jackets/clothing items. If QVC doesn’t know how large that segment is, let it test us. We’re up to the challenge. Its estimate of the purchasing preferences of Linea customers isn’t getting high marks these days from the ladies who missed out on the whisper knit pants, tunics, blouses and leather jackets. With that said, hearing that there may be 7 or 8 new whisper knit sweaters by the end of the year makes my day. Thank you!
Dear Lynn, the problem is very complicated. Remember, the factories we deal with depend on volumn, The higher the cost of a garment the smaller the buy, the smaller the buy the less likely the factories will want to make it and start adding surcharges which makes the garment even more expensive. I am trying and will continue to try to bring in better things, but one has to have the volumn to stay in the game.
Dear Kate……I hear you and I am trying, but it is very difficult. The tweed jacket should have been more money than we sold it to QVC for. I don’t know what Rachel Zoe’s volumn was on those items, but I suspect not very high and I also suspect the returns were not low which is not a good combination. You can always cut the volumn on items that are more expensive, but after a while the factories won’t want to make them. We must give the factories a certain volumn or they will not manufacture our clothing. They depend on volumn and sometimes they do vendors a favor by even making a garment…..as I said this is business that depends on volumn, or else it is a totally different business that depends on very high mark ups….like the designer business. I was just looking through one of the new magazines and the prices are astonishing! $2500 for a blouse, $1500 for a cotton shirt, $3500 for a jacket,……..how much of that is the actual cost of the garment? I can tell you from experience…..not much. The balance is what keeps them open and running. I vent. I would love to bring all of you even better things, and I am trying believe me, but it’s getting harder not easier. Every year the prices of fabrics LEAP, and we are expected to maintain the same price…..not an easy task. I am sure you have the same problems in your business.
It might be too expensive for “the Q”, but not for your ever-loving Linea Ladies. Bring it!
crdlb
Hi Louis,
Thanks so much for doing what you do! Your designs are a delight. I am happy with so many purchases.
My question for you is this:about the leather jacket-I prefer to get black in small [or medium if there is one to be had], which is not available now, but may have tarragon medium available. I have a tarragon sweater and my colouring is not the best for it, though I have no intention of returning it. Would I be wise to compromise for the sake of having the jacket, or would I be better to wait for the off chance a black may surface?
Thank you and fond regards,
Kate
This is the other Kate! If I were you, I would return the green if it is not the best color for you and stalk the black. You won’t get your wear from the green if you don’t totally love it. You will have to check online stock several times a day which is a drag, but I have found persistance pays off!
Dear Kate…….. I did answer your question, but I may have posted it with “the other Kate”!
Dear Louis,
Just discovered you on QVC ready to buy literally everything. Made notes for hours and found out….sold out. Called QVC and they did not know anything about your return. Left message for Supervisor to call….no response. Question…..Is is possible to buy your items anywhere else. I would also love to buy the drop earrings in green and persimmon along with the belts and berets! Am not just another fashionista as I have been looking for someone for some time with your incredible style and now when I have found you…..have I found you?
If you are going to be on QVC in October then when and what time. Will you have any of the items shown that were sold out especially the tweed jackets, berets, drop earrings, anything in green or persimmon red?
Thank you,
Toni
Dear Toni….so nice that you found me! My next show is on Oct. 19, from 4pm to 6pm with lots of new things. AT the end of Sept I will start with my “Sneak” Peek” photographs on my web site.. I’m not sure which earrings you are referring to, but you can see everything I am offering at the moment on QVC. In the search box tyle “Linea Jewelry” and it will come up. There will be quite jewelry pieces added to the web site that I showed on this past show at the end of ther month…..maybe sooner. I’m afraid everything in the persimmon red was on my last show and it has pretty much sold out, but keep watching ….some pieces usually show up. The tweed jackets are sold out but I have some beautiful new ones in Oct. The berets are from my private accessory collection and are not for sale. I do not sell my collection anywhere but QVC……keep watching….you won’t be disappointed
Thank you so much! Do you think you could do the berets as they really finished the look? Will there be much red will be in your next show and do you think you will have the three tie blouse available?
Toni Freese
Toni, if you aren’t currently participating in the Linea Community on qvc.com, I recommend you do so. QVC orders only extremely limited quantity of the Louis del’Olio Linea designs, and by reading the Linea Community, you can stay on top of when to order. Go to: http://community.qvc.com/forums/Linea/index.aspx
I had berets made for QVC but they did not want to buy them. I do not have red planned at all. I love red and maybe next Fall. Fall production is finished…..the factories are busy with spring so there is no chance of the 3 tie blouse coming back this season. If the returns are low, maybe next year.
Dear Louis,
I received my black leather, out-of-this-world jacket today. It’s absolutely a winner! Wrote a review for it that glowed so much they’ll be able to see it from the Space Station. Love, love, love it! Thank you for prompting me to do things a bit differently, to take a chance, to live it up a little with my clothing. I’m shaking up my formula because of your gorgeous designs. So, so grateful that you’re out there in the world.
Dear Maria……I’m so happy you like the blazer….there is so much work and detail to the jacket that it’s good enough to be in an expensive boutique…..and the quality of leather is wonderful! Enjoy all the compliments you will get.
The leather is like “buttah,” and I mention that in my QVC review. Your rendition is simply a stepped-up way of wearing leather.
Did you post a blog on the Fashion Forum”……….”Like Buttah”. I’m sure the ladies who have not received it would like to know. I’m happy you’re HAPPY!
No, I didn’t. I’m at work now, and when I can sneak back online, I’ll put my praise on the forum site. My words of rapture went to the good folks at QVC, and I hope my statements go up by this evening. Of course, most who read my review will have to be patient until black returns (fingers crossed for all who don’t have the jacket) and the jacket reappears in more sizes.
Hi Louis,
My WK pants just arrived and I could not be happier. I feel a bit guilty since so many ladies were unable to order them. I just do not “get” the Q. Thank you so much for such wonderful pants – they are truly perfect. I received my WW cardigan and grape dress, too. I love V-necks and this dress fits and flatters me. Would love something similar in shorter sleeves for summer.
How do you recommend storing the WK pants? Should we keep them on hangers or fold them flat? I tend to think that they should be folded and put on a shelf, but I wanted to verify.
Thank you for your wonderful designs and God-given talent!
DEFINITELY keep the pants folded and laying flat!. Actually, what I do is roll them over a card board roll, you know the ones you get at the end of a roll of paper towels. This way you don’t get fold marks.
Thank you, Louis. Please know how much we appreciate you, your outstanding designs, your accessibility, and just being YOU. And, we love Jac and the girls!
That is Brilliant!!! Who knew, LOL! Thank you, there’s a new roll nearly waiting for me now.
Hello Louis,
I received the black whisper knit pants and tunic sweater and they really are lovely. The XS pant fits nicely, but I could use about 1″ more in the waist. The size S is no longer available–is there any “fix” that you can think of? Wouldn’t it be great if I could shrink my waist that inch!
Thanks you–I have several more pieces from the show coming.
Barbara
No easy fix on that one. Maybe a small will show up!
Louis…I just do not know how you do this! :). I just received the walnut tweed, the colors are just amazing! The gold, wine, purple are so dramatic with this soft fabrication, I am blown away. There is no place you could find this, let alone at this price point. It made me feel so put together and it will go with nearly everything in “The Closet” ( which has no more space left ). Also received the ivory streamer blouse, I ordered the wrong size in error, XL instead of L, BUT, I’m belting it, it’s so elegant with a nice weight to it. I am waiting for the rest of my haul including the black streamer to go with the magenta tuxedo jacket! That will look perfect!! Thank you for your hard work, appreciated!!
Sharon you are very welcome…..maybe a large will come back?
Received the lovely tarragon blouse yesterday and it looks great underneath the walnut plaid blazer and a set of brown pants that I have. I also received the teal WW sweater for a Christmas gift for my now DIL– you can’t start the younger generation too early on your classic designs!! I know she will love it as she is a light brown haired green eyed gal.
Awaiting half of my order today to arrive– Thanks again for the great fashion.
Regards,
Chris
Dear Chris…….Glad you are liking your first arrivals! I think that sweater is a great choice for your DIL.
Received the ponte knit dress today in gray and its not a match to the ponte knit gray suit from a few years ago. This dress needs big jewelry to emphasize the design of this dress or a scarf with a bright pin holding the scarf in place. I would say the gray is very close in color to the drawstring pants in gray. Its a definite winner in my book and its not too long either on my frame.
The WK pants in the walnut and black are also wonderful– waistband is not taut or loose but just right. The Petite length is perfect for me and I love the fabric and how it feels and looks. Comfort all the way!!
Chris….so glad you like the WK pant! I will have gorgeous Broach for your grey dress in Nov. it has jet, gunmketal and smoke grey stones….it’s perfect for that dress.
Dear Louis and Jac! What a fantastic show! I ordered some basics (black and walnut WK pants, aubergine and mallard short sleeved sweaters and the lovely blouse in ivory) that will go with me in Oct. from here in the Puget Sound to Cambridge where I’ll visit my youngest daughter and her charming French fiancee.
They’ll be married the last of June in the Loire River Valley of France in a castle/hotel. (No we’re not wealthy, just aspire to nice things – hence the delight in Louis Dell’Olio clothes 🙂 So, I will especially be on the edge of my seat when you present your spring/summer collection. I have a wispy skirt in mind (I can’t do pencil skirts), a feminine short-sleeved or sleeveless top and a close fitting jacket – both falling near the waist. My colors are blues and greens with perhaps a touch of yellow. A daughter calls my grayed auburn hair ‘tan’ while a more encouraging friend calls it ‘champagne’ 🙂 And of course one needs traveling clothes! (Talk about pre-ordering 🙂 I guess it’s more like presumptuous pre-ordering 🙂
I too remember Jean Brodie and will order it again and enjoy just for the clothes. And I actually remember Maggie Smith saying that about the tricky green!
Looking so forward to your next pieces and comments! Becky
Dear Becky……a wedding in the Loire Valley…..very nice.
Hello Louis, I am so happy to hear that you have a pink coat coming. I am the lady who asked for pastel sweaters awhile back. So the word pink made my day. We ladies get so excited when we can shop every month . Pleas do you know when the jewelry comes?
Hello…..unfortunately I do not know when the jewelry will be avail. QVC’s processing is snail like.
Louis, FABULOUS SHOW! You were great… Very chatty, which I LOVED! And I too know who MIss Brody is. Loved the reference. I purchased a lot of beautiful pieces… The black leather jacket, tweed blazer, whisper knit cardi, etc. THANK YOU for the upcoming fuchsia WK sweater. I will be buying 2 (both for me!). Hopefully there will be a crew neck sweater in fuchsia for the Spring (I’m just wishing out loud!!!). I thought I heard you mention SCARVES….. Was I dreaming???!!!! Hope not.
All the best to you and Jac. See you in Oct. Not sure of the date, but I’m hoping it’s not the first week when I’m traveling for work.
Hi nyc1…..the date in Oct is the 19th. It’s a two hour show from 4pm to 6 pm again….this time with Jill who I likw working with very much. I mentioned one scarf in the same fabric as the hounds tooth check.
Jill is a fabulous host for your show! I’ll be working…but will catch video clips.:) Glad you enjoy working with her.
Hi, Louis! Just to say to you and Jac that I enjoyed watching the afternoon show on my laptop. And I DO know who Miss Jean Brodie is:-).
Hello there in Vienna! Hope you are having a great time. I read your comments about the flight over being a little rough on you….a nice little something sweet should help that.. Say Hi to Ray!
Will do, Louis! The flight was rough then I tripped and had a nasty fall here in the apartment:-(. Glad that I have my little portable TENS unit here with me. Went to the Volksoper Tues. and we’ll go tonight to hear a Mozart string quartet in the newly-restored Sala Terrena in the First District where Mozart himself used to perform. Watch my Face Book page as I’m putting pics up there! Wearing Linea of course. It’s gotten quite cool so can now wear my cool weather Linea :-). And of course have been eating LOTS of sublime pastries mit schlag, of course! OG returns your greetings!
Dear Louis,
I received some of my haul yesterday, tarragon blouse, both tweed jackets and 4 WK pants. Everything is outstanding! The WK pants are wonderful! The tweeds are so soft and not at all bulky. The real sleeper is that blouse!!! What a wonderful fabric. I hope you can use it again. I would love to see that blouse in perfectly pink, or some bright colors like fushia. What a genius you are and I am glad to hear retirement is not in your immediate future! And that pink coat!!! Yowza!
Dear Debbie
So glad you are pleased with everything…..it’s one thing to put on a pretty show, but hearing back from all of you that you are pleased is what I am most happy with.
Louis: Don’t laugh, but I will put the black tie from the black blouse on the tarragon blouse and wear with the black WK pants and black patent leather shoes and black leather handbag. What do you think, yes, no, maybe?
Why not….if you keep it all black and Tarragon it should be good
Hi Louis: The fuschia t-neck you teased us with the other day, does it have a blueish tint or more pink in the fuschia. I ask because the Mallard Blue is beautiful in person and looked very dark on TV and the true Mallard Blue highlights the face. I love the Mallard in reality – TV casts a different look maybe because of the lighting in the studio. Thanks.
Not easy to answer because all fuchsias have blue in them, but it isn’t overly blue which can be a little harsh, so I will say more pink….it’s really a beautiful color.
I ordered everything that was available at midnight Sunday night. I live in Atlanta and today (Tuesday) I received everything I ordered and also some of the items I order while watching the show. Regular UPS!! 2 days!! I ordered 28 items, received them all. The 2 pleated skirts were shipped separately in boxes with heavy white paper wrapped around them. Pleats are perfect on both. I love the feel of this fabric for skirts and also love, love matching blouses; bought 2 each in all three colors. Would love a straight skirt with double kick pleat in back or in front. And of course we need a jacket. Nice year round weight. Love the WK pants. Bought both tweed jackets and each color variation is different enough to justify buying both (like I need to justify buying clothes!). I have met you in the past when I worked in NY and have many of your clothes from years ago. Yes they are still gorgeous. My favorite is a sapphire blue cashmere swing jacket with black velvet lapels from AK Couture; must be 30 years old. Wear it every year and still get so many compliments. Thanks for dressing us, what would we wear? Marigot
WOW! I can’t believe you received everything already. Usually everyone is complaining about how long it takes. I hope everyone is as lucky as you. By the way I remember that sapphire jacket……maybe 1982-3 or 4…no later than that…..Just goes to show.., good style is timeless.
A sapphire blue swing jacket with black velvet lapels…wonder if you could give us a modern day version of that??? I know we would have to forego the cashmere most likely, but the fabrics you’re coming up with lately are fantastic! I bet you could do it! 😉
OMG, Louis we would love a swing jacket like that!!! Sounds absolutely stunning, fit and flare all the way. I’ll preorder now thank you!!!!!!!!
Thought I would follow up with more detail since this jackets is soo gorgeous.
Does not close in the center; does not have a weird hem, hits just a little bit below the waist. Accompaning skirt is a heavy weight black crepe with a wide countoured waist that starts under the bust and goes down to top of hip bones;then the skirt portion is pleats. Came with a beautiful black shiny, skinny snake belt. Blouse is heavy silk charmause in sapphire with a high drapey cowl that ties at the top of the neck in back. Unfortunately these clothes were very expensive (Jacket almost $2,000)but look how long I have been wearing them. YIKES!! 30 years !!! If the style is well done, beautiful fabrics, you don’t gain weight and the moths don’t get to them, life is good !
Yezs I remember it all very well. I also did a long straight skirt in the same blak crepe and the same yoke detail….only the yoke was black leather.
I have that one also.
Hi,
I guess you get this question alot. I am petite and I love love your sweaters. But at 5 foot 2 inches I cant weak any of your skirts or dresses. It is sad. I would not mind hemming them; but most of the time is it more expensive than the dress. Please make petites.
Thanks
Dear Amy,
I do get this question ALL the time and the tall women ask me why I don’t make talls. The answer is very simple….it is not my decision what QVC buys, how many they buy and in what sizes they buy. I design the clothes and my manufacturer makes them. The buyers come in and see the collection and THEY DECIDE what they want to buy. It is not up to me in any way. I can influence what styles and colors they buy so it all makes sense, but that’s it. If you want petites, as I tell the tall ladies, you have to vocalize loudly and in numbers…. what you want. If only 25 women complain….that’s not going to get what you want accomplished. If it were in my power to make petites and talls in a variety of garments I would do it….why wouldn’t I….but, as I said, it never was and it never will be in my power to make those decisions. Have you tried my knit pencil skirt? It has been well received for years and it works on many different women.
Louis I am new to your clothing line, but Every item I have purchased from you have been so flattering. I wore one of your tank tops last weekend on a boat trip. Wanted to share with you the loveliest compliment, my husband looked at me said wow you look like such a classy lady in that top. So thank you Louis I appreciate your amazing designs.
Is there anything your fans can do to give you a greater presence on qvc? I would love to be able to buy more of your clothing, there is so much available from other designers. Who can your fans write to get more of your quality clothing available? I stayed up almost all night to be able to order your whisper knits this week and lucky me I was able to order them before they sold out.
Are your clothes available for purchase any place other than qvc?
Thank you,
Pat
Dear Pat……..you got the best compliment you can get…..from your husband….that’s great! We men don’t always verbalize what we are thinking….we just admire in silence. I have to remind myself to let Jac know how much I admire her and how beautiful I think she is…we just always think you know how we feel. So…..I couldn’t be more delighted to hear that your husband paid you such a lovely compliment….what he was saying was …you are a classy lady….it really had nothing to do with the top! As far as helping me ….you have helped me already with your support and wonderful story…….that’s more than enough.
Hello: The tarragon and black blouses arrived and are beautiful – great drape and I LOVE the sleeves and length. I am on waitlist for the black WK pants so that’ll come in time for October – I LOVE the walnut pants – beautiful feel. Thanks Louis.
Toni…..have you received all of these things already? I guess you have if you say you love the way the WK pant feels….that music to my ears!
Yes, I was worried about the WK pants because all the t-necks in WK are light weight and I was afraid the pants would be light – but the weight is perfect and I LOVE the waistband, it’s solid. I asked Customer Service why I could waitlist the black WK pants, but yet the Tarragon had no waitlist – she said the waitlist on the black is more common than the tarragon so there wasn’t going to be a waitlist. Louis, the blouses were on at least four/five days before your show and I ordered them sight unseen because they had “No Image Available.” I ordered them based on your great photography, but I had no idea they had a loop in the back – GREAT IDEA. The persimmon mock was on the weeks ahead of time, again, I ordered sight unseen – I have the rest of the mocks and all your t-necks. You are so right about the olive – being olive complexed, I was afraid, but as you said, it is a deep saturated olive and I love them both. Adore the mushroom (t-neck). I also have the “straight leg pants” but are really wide leg and VERY light weight -think it was the group you showed in London in the Spring. I LOVE them, so Hepburn, and I have them in DARK BROWN, I love your browns/walnut – Walnut long sweater should ship tonight – I was so angry with QVC over your feather blouse and five day ship date, they FED EX overnight to me – I think they ship my stuff ASAP because I’ll will beat them up again. Smile. Toni
P.S. They did not charge me for FED EX – it was their fault.
Hello, dear Louis and Jac. It must be great to be back home in Connecticut. It was a great show yesterday and you seemed so happy. I was not able to order the Walnut petite pants as they literally sold out at midnight the night before…so no Walnut pieces for me. However, no pity party here, as I got 18 other pieces! Doubles in the Tarragon and Black pants; both Tarragon and Black in the pleated skirts, tunic and bow tie blouses; the Tarragon jacket, the Black leather jacket, the Persimmon cardigan, four mock necks and the fabulous Merlot Medallion cardigan, for an average price of $64.32 per piece! Imagine the prices of those pieces at Bergdoff’s?
Louis, here is my strategy. You and I are the same age—and when you retire, I retire my buying (and maybe retire working, too–that’s another story)…and I plan to have the most fabulous wardrobe for the rest of my life…as your styles are timeless! so, I’m getting what I can, while I can. Love to you and Jac…..Sheesh
Sheesh, we have plotted similar strategies. I am piecing together a wardrobe from the Linea line that, I hope, will carry me into my future. Classic lines spiked with some edgy pieces should do the trick! I can’t “quit” Louis, darn it!
Dear Sheesh….that is quite a haul!!!!! WE ARE TOO YOUNG TO RETIRE! I have to make sure you are covered with everything you will need…LOL
LDO-purple and black houndstooth? You are killing me? And a pink coat? Is that right? Someone saw images in the latest QVC Insider magazine and spilled it.
Customer Service mails the magazine to the post office for distribution on the 20th of each month. Regular insiders don’t have that issue – hooray for the spy that leaked it.
That ‘s pretty much it…….the color is violet. I also love the violet/black and ivory/black hounds tooth checks mixed up…i.e. ivory/ black jacket, violet /black skirt….ivory/black scarf and a violet turtleneck, black tights, heels or boots, gloves, Jackie O black sunglasses and LOOK OUT! The coat is really fine. Bottega did a coat almost exactly like mine this season. It has that rolled shirt collar, single breasted, high shape to a slight A….inseam pockets with faux flaps above the pokets and it is in a fabulous nubby, loopy fabric that looks almost brushed and felted….hard to describe…..50% poly or acrylic [can’t remember right now] and 50% WOOL……knee length on most. The colors are black, which naturally looks great over a turtle and hounds tooth skirt….or……PINK QUARTZ….a pink I have not done before…..a blue dusty pale pink……a true WINTER pastel…it’s a beauty….over all black….gorgeous…..there is one other pirce that ties everything together and it is something you wear under the suit or coat……one hint…..it’s made out of a very beautiful stretch lace……..after all……this is the year of lace.
Oh la la….looking forward to Oct. I was not able to purchase anything this go around. Two-fold, having numerous medical/dental things going on and losing 24 pounds from June til now. Don’t want to purchase only to under grow these beautiful pieces. So look out Oct.
Dear Sherry, sorry to hear about your medical problems, but fear not there are some really spectacular things coming and the whole Whisper Knit program is still to come…..7 or 8 new styles! in multipul colors
Oh, the WN sweaters, now that’s what I really Love to wear. Looking forward to see what styles and colors you will be offering.
Hi Louis,
Loved yesterdays show. So many great things and so many sell outs.
I did purchase the black leather jacket with ribbed sleeves. I ordered my usual size Medium. I later saw the size chart & realized
it was a 1/2 inch smaller than other medium jackets I’ve ordered from you.
I am hoping the ribbing will make up the difference. Any thoughts
Dear njlady…..I can’t say for sure, but usually the measurements on knit garments are a little smaller that woven garments because of the stretch….lets keep our fingers crossed!
Dear Louis,
You are a true genius. The jacket came today (which was weird) when I called yesterday – they said it was in the process of shipping. The hourglass shape looks like I have a shape. It isn’t boxy – yet so comfortable because the
ribbing allows movement. It looks better open (and thats the way you had the models wear it)
Thank You – its truly beautiful. Just checking – you would hang – right? Should I get rid of the stuff in the pockets
or leave? I love the dual pocket openings – like I said – GENIUS
Hi nj…..it is definitely safe to hang….of course always better on a padded hanger. I love the jacket open best myseld or with just the top or maybe the top two buttons only,,,,but my preference is open or one. If you mean those funny little packets in the pockets ….thy are for humidity….if they don’t bother you keep them there, but it’s not necessary.
Thanks, Louis, that was very sweet of you to reply so soon. Yes, I am a big fan of Maggie Smith. I am sure you have been watching Downton Abbey. She is my favorite character. Only she could deliver those lines.
She is an absolute hoot. One of my favorite Maggie Smith lines ever was from a movie called “Godsford Park”. There was a scene that took place after a very formal dinner party at an English country estate in the 1930s. The guests all moved to the living room after dinner and one of the more unfortunate looking ladies was wearing a very unbecoming evening dress in a strange green. A small group of guests were discussing her dress and Maggie Smith, as only she could say it, looked at her and said to the others something like……”interesting green..,,,,,,..tricky”……that line said it all. A great movie directed by a great director, Robert Altman, who Jac and I had the pleasure of having dinner with a few times.
Thank you, Louis. I have been looking for a classic wool coat for several years. They are not easy to find in the mountain west. The only one I liked was cashmere and well over $600. Now, if you branch out into sleepwear, too, I will be in seventh heaven.
I thought yesterday’s shows were your absolute best ever. You must be exhausted as many of us were just from watching and ordering! Thank you!
I must admit, Jac and I are a wee bit tired. It’s the waiting around all day….doing the 6am and waiting around to do the 4pm is more tiring than doing the work.
Many thanks for all you do for us! (I meant to say!)
Terri
Dear Louis:
The show was the best ever! I have a question: on the Q website there is an added color “wheat” to the Tweed Jacket A228371 item site. Where did this color come from? Are there more “wheat” jackets being brought into inventory?
Many for all you do for us.
Terri
Don’t know what that is….actually it’s referring to nothing….sometimes things get entered that are totally wrong….please disregard.
Could you explain to us what happened with the wp knit pants. They disappeared so quickly. How could such limited quntities have been ordered and are they going to be reordered?
I think, but I’m not sure, that there was an unusually large amount of preordering done and by the time of the show the quantities were alreafy greatly reduced. The Q posted four or five styles, the WK pant being one of them, two or three days before the show which they never do on new styles. There were a lot of presells on many things including the leather jacket. By the time that was presented in the show the black was gone. As a matter of fact, the producer told Jac to leave thye stage because it was sold out, but she said ” NO. …I got into this outfit and the ladies are going to see how it looks on.” Thay’s my wife!
LDO, just to be clear, the Whisper Knit pants were not posted until just before midnight day of show and by 12:10 4 sizes of black, 3 sizes of tarragon and 2 sizes of brown (all the smaller sizes and 3x) in regular were sold out, and the story was similar for petite. The leather jacket was not posted until just before showtime and immediately sold out in black. The only items posted in advance were the pleated skirt, the blouse, and the tweed jacket. Clearly demand outstripped supply! There will be returns I suppose, but many of us are wondering why there was no wait list for the whisper knit pants?
Kate, you are absolutely correct, my mistake. I have no answer for you. I can only guess. I supposed all the talking I did about the pant before the show got everyone excited about them. Why there isn’t any wait list is a mystery. They always take a wait list to fill returns, so I don’t know? You are right when you say demand outstripped supply………sorry if you didn’t get what you wanted!
It is not a bad problem to have!
I am SO glad, because they refuse to show us stuff when it is sold out and we want to see it on the model because some hosts NEVER shut up so we can see the models. They shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, we all pay their salaries. GO JAC. Also the so-called producers show the models 50′ away, and it is rare that we get a close up.
Love you Jac! Thanks !!!!! 🙂 (aka TheOwl)
Hi Louis, Absolutely loved the show yesterday and cannot wait to get my WK pants, tunics, and tweed blazer. I wanted to reassure you that most of us watching know The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Maggie Smith very well. A lot of us were laughing with you when none of the models or hosts knew of this classic! What can you say but I hate it when that happens! (people are just getting too darned young) Can’t wait to see the new coat! We appreciate you and Jac LDO!
Jules
My tarragon tie blouse is out for delivery today and I thought the show yesterday was wonderful. I now have to watch it again to listen to all the details over that you mention. I have a question re: the ponte knit gray dress: Does the heather gray ponte knit jacket of a few years back, match the gray of this dress?
Thanks for answering and bringing some great clothing to wear.
Regards,
Chris
Louis, I have a request for next fall: a knee-length trench coat in tweed. Possible?
Well…..I think it could be great looking….I have a beautiful textured wool blend coat coming next month. It’s a solid coat, but a wonderful textured fabric…..very expensive looking
Nice. Looking forward to your sneak peeks & descriptions. Keep a tweed trench in mind for next year, though 🙂
Oh, my planned birthday presents to myself just got one coat added, yippee! I’d certainly second that request for a tweed coat next year; what a wonderful idea!
Shows yesterday were great; loved the wink and the “ghost writers and designers”; glad you are neither LOL … Can’t wait to get my new Tarragons and Tweeds.
Thanks, Cathy heading southwest thru VA to Balloon Fiesta and Chili Harvest in NM, with my Chili Pepper wardrobe to match 🙂
that was really a slip of the tongue…….as Sandra said….”We won’t go there”…..I remember you mentioning going to the Balloon Destival and Chili Harvest once before…..sounds like great fun!
My tarragon tweed jacket arrived this morning and LDO, it’s pretty spectacular. I’ll be wearing mine over the persimmon cardigan (and a vintage Hermes scarf I own that just happens to be a near perfect match) and jeans tucked into brown boots for a very Sloane Ranger look. I’ve lost track of when to expect the new bead necklaces that will go with this. Help?
I am so happy you like the tweed jacket! I thought you would, but I’d rather hear it from you……The color of the persimmon cardigan is fabulous…… juicy…..looks great with the olive turtleneck or mock neck under it and the tweed jacket……Okay….who is Sloane Ranger? The million dollar question is when will the jewelry be avail.?………..I have no idea…….. I’m hoping at least by the end of the month!
Sloane Rangers are those uppa class English girls who stomp around London wearing tweeds with wellies and 5K Euro handbags!
Think Princess DIana meets Kim Kardashian! (sorry hit send too soon)
Louis, that is exactly how I feel about the CASSIS cardigan in that style. Juicy!!! Somehow I missed the cassis train when it left the station last year so I was really excited to be able to snag that cardi yesterday in cassis – among the OTHER great items I was able to purchase. Also thank You for showing the pink pearls in the morning with the longer pencil skirt! It was just the shove I needed to complete my perfectly pink “portfolio” by adding the p. pink pearls. I love all the side benefits that come from your shows BESIDES the fabulous featured new items which of course I also love 🙂 (aka TheOwl)
Nancy….I’m glad I gave you the shove….the pink pearls are beautiful and I know you will love them. There is something very sexy about those pearls in that size millimeter, at that length in that pink….it all works. There is this wonderful combination of power and femininity….anyway that’s how I see it.
