Hi, Louis!
I’m wondering if the A94750 have been re-ordered(the matching skirt to a pearl trimmed jacket), and I’m dying to get full description for a new boyfriend chenille jacket:the fabric content, length, and if the new pucker top in cassis color will work with the chenille jacket in purple??
Thank you in advance for your reply. We appreciate you for all your hard work…best regards to you and Jac!
Dear Inna,
The skirt you are inquiring about has not been reordered.
The chenille blazer is one of my all time favorites! It is aprox. 28 inches long for the XS and it is 56% rayon and 44% polyester. It is a yarn dye fabric….which means the yarn is dyed before the fabric is woven. The cassis top looks great with the deep purple….very rich…very designer. The jacket will come in the deep purple, a medium gray and a taupe which has beige in it. The gray and the taupe have a heather effect because the two yarns are slighly different in color giving the heather effect. The fabric is gorgeous and the tailoring on this jacket is superb. I rarely say this but this is a jacket to own in as many colors as you can afford. It’s great dressed up, for the office or running around this fall in a pr. of jeans, a turtleneck and a beautiful scarf………………regards, Louis
Dear Louis, Thank you so much for your quick reply. As soon as I read it, I went right over and ordered the available XS and cancelled the waitlisted small. I know from the fit of the small greens that these will be fine. Plus I am slowly (on purpose) losing a little more weight each month, with my goal weight date being next year. (steady wins the race!) Your velvet pants have rave reviews (96%) and are such a wardrobe staple, that I am just shaking my head over their not re-ordering. As you would know, the forest green goes perfectly with the forest green 3/4 sleeve jewel neck Essential sweater, and so many other things. I am looking forward to trying on the black with my pearl and ribbon sweaters when everything arrives. You are the best. Most sincerely, Sandi
Dear Louis, I am wondering if your Black Velvet pants A210828 have been re-ordered, and are they scheduled for any Fall shows? The forest green are available in all sizes (I bought them several months ago and love them) but the Black is only available in XS, XL, and 2X. I’ve been on waitlist for the Black small for many weeks now. The Q has not cancelled my waitlist, so am hoping they have been re-ordered. I like to order items such as these early on, because I need to factor in time for length alteration. TIA!
PS May I be the first to volunteer to inventory your storage facility LOL.
Dear Sandi,
The pant has not been reordered and I have no idea why QVC is still keeping you hanging. I doubt it very much that you will get one since it is way past the return cut off date……regards, Louis
Hi,
So glad you made out OK with the hurricane. We lost power right before your show went on and it returned late last nite.
I was able to order the waist slimming jewel neck sweater. I missed the pants. Are you going to be making the ponte knit
slim leg pant again? I like the narrow leg but longer inseam. I hope so – thanks
Sorry you missed the show….I’m afraid you were one of many. I will not be repeating the ponte knit pant as the fabric mill is no longer and will no longer produce that quality fabric. They said they had a lot of problems producing it and they lost a lot of money. Why is it that it is always the good fabrics they have a problem with and the horrible ones they can produce thousands of yard of?!
………..regards, Louis
Hello Louis,
It is great news that ALL IS WELL at the Dell’Olio household with only minimal tree damage. Like so many others, I was enthralled with your new offerings, especially the new colors, and ordered accordingly.
How do you store and arrange the Linea items in your stduio? I took your suggestion some time back and separated matching pieces so they were truly separates with all the jackets, pants and skirts being hung together. That has worked really well, and I’ve been able to create a lot more interesting outfits. I now find that I have more knit tops and sweaters than I have ever had at one time in my life. I started storing them by color, but have sinced changed to like items being stored together in labeled clear boxes. Since I travel a lot and often to different seasons, I can’t store the out-of-season clothes. HELP!
Hi,
First let me say there are no out of season colors….at least none that come to mind. The only thing that you should consider “seasonal” is the weight and warmth factor. I love summer dark colors so there are very few that I would consider seasonal……I even love grays with white. I consider dark earth colors such as Aubergine, Olive, Claret etc. “ethnic” dark colors and can be easily worn through out the year i.e. the new cardigan and tank. If your travel requires you to have at the ready many types of clothing weights….theirs little I can suggest….except….clear out a bedroom and make it you closet LOL. I jest, but that is basically what I did to store all of my samples….plus a storage facility which I have everything inventoried……….it’s an enormous job…..regards, Louis
I totally agree that no colors are out of season, and personally prefer the jewel tones to pastels all year long. The new whiperknit colors in all of the styles are part of my storage problem. The way things are going with my Linea purchases, I may need to build an extension on the house to store them.
Dear Parisa,
I do not have any plans to do a “Styling Video”. It’s a terrific idea but it would be a huge and expensive undertaking as it would constantly need to be updated…..I am glad you appreciate all the work it takes for me to style each outfit in each show..
…………….regards, Louis
Hello, Louis and Jac. So glad you fared well during Irene. We did fine here in Longmeadow, MA, too—but our New England neighbors in Vermont are suffering so. Some of the most beautiful little towns in this country are now in ruins—and oh, those historic covered bridges washed away…I am sick at heart over the loss. How ironic that the land locked areas got hit the worst at the very end of the storm.
On a happier note, you show was great and one again I am thrilled with the pieces I got and the prices I paid. I got 13 new pieces for less than the price that the Perfectly Pink Pearl Trimmed Jacket SHOULD be! Seriously! I have both original pearl trimmed jackets, too. I would not have missed the new Pink one for the world! Thank you, Louis! We appreciate you so much…love to Jac, too.
Sheesh
Dear Louis, I see you are an early riser too! I’m in Rye and just watched a beautiful sunrise. There was a lot of flooding in Rye, but we were very lucky and never lost our power.I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of both pearl trimmed jackets. Can’t wait until the show on the 12th. Are the girls happy to be home?
Good Morning Judith,
Yes we are early risers. The light on the water is always so beautiful. We were very lucky too ….we didn’t loose our power during the storm but, Sunday night at about 7pm some trees came down, wires came down and the power went out. It was supposed to be the back end of the storm and it really got windy. The power came back about 10 hours later but the streets are still a mess with limbs of trees. Hearing what is going on in other parts of the country….we are more than lucky!……The girls are very happy to be home….regards, Louis
It seems that when you archive a month the “Ask Louis” are removed but not archived. Is this how it always worked? I can only see one ? right now. Just wondering since there is so much great info in this section.
Thanks,
Peggy
Dear Peggy,
I honestly don’t know the answer to your question….I never really paid that much attention to the archives. I don’t have great….not even good….computer skills, so I wouldn’t know how to say the monthly comments…..regards, Louis
Just click on the right hand side of the screen and pick a month under archives and it should show the ask louis section for that month. Hope this helps. To get back to the current at the top pick one of the recent blogs and then click the tab back to Ask Louis
I see that many questions and answers are gone but, I’m not sure why?
It’s probably a storage issue. You might want to email WordPress and ask them — your blog updates are archived but only your very recent Ask Louis Q&A are still visible.
Hi Louis,
Any word on when we can order the new V neck sweater? Some of us have gotten blisters on our typing fingers punching those numbers in! I just do not see how QVC could make ordering any more difficult! Please let us know if you get any word. The show Sunday was outstanding and I did my part to perk up the slow economy!
Jules
I’m trying to find out….so far I haven’t gotten an answer……regards, Louis
The pearland ribbon jacket would be fantastic! in ivory I do hope you can get it to us.
Just to let you know I did buy the Burberry green tweed suit and as expected it is a perfect match to your olive paisley pieces. The jacket over your skirt is beyond chic—so Euro and yet so totally American at the same time. I would say this is a great example of hi-lo fashion but there is nothing ‘lo’ about what you bring us!
Your A3825 rib knit blouse. The model was wearing a large gold cross with a stone at each end. Will you be selling this cross? I bought this blouse in purple. Do you have the matching rib knit pull on pants in purple? I also need petite if possible. I love your clothes. Thanks for your time.
Dear Francis,
I do not have any pants in purple. As far as the cross is concerned….I’m working on getting it for all of you……regards, Louis
OMG – really – I’d “kill” for that cross!!! Seriously — okay, maybe not, but darned close to it!!!!
Oh! So there’s hope!!! The ladies will phone in and/or write in to the Q with their full support!
Dear Louis,
Great shows, but I couldn’t order anything because I could not watch the shows until my power came on. I love the fit on your pants, but they always seem to sell out quickly. Unfortunatley, the new pant on your recent show sold out too. Are these being reordered? I never understand why the buyers don’t order more, it’s frustrating. I know how long it takes to get more back in.
Also, the black jet beads the models wore were fabulous. Any chance you will put these in your line? I am sure they are expensive, the quality looks magnificent. Very hard to find beads like that, love, love them.
Looking foreard to your future shows. Best regards, Melissa
Dear Melissa,
I hear you about the quantities ordered….unfortunately there isn’t anything I can do about what or how much is bought. I will have the slim leg pant on my Sept. show in the same colors. I will post all the info a week before the show.
I am not selling any jet beads but some of the Linea Ladies have purchased terrific glass black jet beads from E-Bay from Germany and Austria…..just type in ” Jet Glass Necklace”……also Nordstrom and Macys sometimes has very nice ones……….regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
Will you be bringing a longer pencil skirt in the mallard and cassis, or olive? I saw the sneak of the long gore skirt.
Thank you for putting yourself at risk to do the show on Sunday, you truly love your Linea Ladies and love what you do!!
I will have a long gored skirt in the same knit as the pencil in those colors….it is part of my Sept. Essential group but, I have no idea when QVC will have them avail. They have all been shipped to them and they are at QVC. I will have a longer pencil in the same knit in Dec, Black, Fawn and Perfectly Pink
……..regards, Louis
Hi, Louis! Enjoyed Sunday’s show very much. Do you have any plans for anything similar to your Perfect Black Dress? I got it last year in large and love it. (Un)fortunately I have lost weight and now need a small. So far that is my only regret about losing weight, my older Linea styles no longer fit!
Dear Pam,
As of now I have no plans for a similar dress because I haven’t found a fabric that is good enough at a price that would be affordable for QVC…but I’m always looking….congratulations on the weight loss that’s TERRIFIC!!!!!regards, Louis
I’m reading The Greater Journey,Americans in Paris in which there’s a wonderful Samuel Morse portrait of Lafayette. He’s wearing a black jacket, white shirt and chamois pants. I would love to have a pair of pale yellow pants!
I’ve just started reading the same book…..haven’t looked at the pictures yet.
Hi Louis – I really love this sweater but I see it is on clearance now….Is there anyway you would reconsider bringing it back?
it is item A62177 – the embroidered bell sleeved turtleneck – alas, the sizes that are available won’t work for me.
thanks!
Dear Nicole,
When an item goes on clearance that means it is a discontinued style and QVC would never bring it back because they couldn’t bring it back at the regular price. The decision as to what is brought back is totally theirs and I have no say as to what they decide to buy……sorry to disappoint you…..regards, Louis
Dear Louis and Jaq I am so glad you got home safely and found all well. It was very brave of you to do that show. Your ladies adore you and your designs even if the Q is too stupid to realize what they have in you.I worry that at this point in your career you will just decide the hassle isn’t worth it. I bought all the pants, the cowl blouse, some sweaters and both the ribbon and pearl jackets,( which I thnk are much more elegant than the originals) and am already excited about the September shows.
Dear Louis, So glad you and Jac are safely home. I hope you both have your feet up, with a fur baby and a tall cool one apiece! Loved the show and was happy to catapult out of bed at 4:56 this morning, West Coast here on the water in Washington State. Looking forward to the UPS guy ringing the doorbell next week.
I, too, would love a book and a video. No one, and I mean no one, can style like you do. I wonder if OWN network would do a story, and I’m serious. Something to ponder!
Thanks for letting us know you’re back safely. See you on the Q in a few weeks! Sandi
Hi,Louis!!
I really enjoyed the show!! I’m very happy you’ve had a safe trip back home.I purchased many items from this show:v-neck cardigan, the new pucker top in black, the beautiful pearl trimmed jacket in black.I also wanted to get v-neck and mockneck sweaters, but they’re not available.I have a couple questions for you (thank you in advance for your reply and for everything you do):
1.Is it possible to bring A94750 matching skirt back?
2.Please, can you give the detailed description for a new boyfriend chenille jacket (the fabric content, length of the jacket, etc.).
3.Will the cassis pucker top A218144 work with chenille purple jacket?
Best wishes to you and Jac!! You’re the best!!!
Looking forward to Sept.12 show!!
Louis, Thank you again for a superb show. I set my alarm early to see you show this morning. I ordered the olive pants, fawn pants, black pants, olive turtleneck, fawn crew neck, and the two of your new boucle jackets–one in the pink, the other in black. I am also waitlisted for the the pink turtleneck, which I believe you said would be available in October. I can’t wait to order the fawn riding jacket next September–the 12th, I believe. Anyway, I’m thinking about ordering the sweater knit skirt in black to match back to the boucle jackets. By the way, the photo of the jacket is not up yet, but I’ve played and paused the video from this morning’s show twice. Louis, the ribbon and pearl-work is FAB-U-LOUIS. I wear an XXS in A215181, which is in stock. Do you think that this t-shirt (with gold trim) would go with the pink boucle jacket? I know that they are both ‘perfectly pink,’ but somehow, I’m not sure about the combo. Please advise at your earliest convenience. Thank you again Louis!!!!
The pink and purple turtlenecks are actually coming in Dec. The pink T-shirt was inaccurately called perfectly pink. It is bluer and more of a carnation pink. It will not match the textured weave jacket with the pearl and ribbon trim…..regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
My Mother and I watched your show this morning, bought some great items. It would be wonderful to see you more often, you need to have items for Fashion Days, your dedicated Linea Ladies, are craving to purchase more of your designs and to have you on QVC every month, definitely not the schedule you have now. No other designer on the Q can compete with you, more business for QVC. You have carved out your own following, this business would not compete with the current lines already on QVC, I will put in easy terms, we want more items, more fun and to give your Line the spotlight it deserves, there is no substitutions for Your Linea Line. After the earthquake this week and the hurricane we all realize anything is possible in life. QVC needs to review the numbers and customer base and give you more exposure, which is total business sense, fulfill the demand.
We are all looking forward to your next Show in Sept. Thanks for listening.
Hello Louis!
It was another great show today! Again, I am so thankful I have found your line and just love every minute that you are on air. I was happy to hear you had a safe trip and am now praying that all is well when you return home. It is a beautiful sunny day in Ohio – hard to imagine the pictures on TV given this extraordinary day here. I loved all the new items, stocked up on some new colors in the existing items, and am now anxiously awaiting all the wonderful pieces that will go with all these basics. The color palette is beautiful! I missed the original pearl jacket, so I’m very excited now that 2 are coming my way.
This has been a great distraction for me during my recovery from rotator cuff surgery! I’m a little worried about how I’m going to try on some of the new things, given that I can’t move much yet – but that just gives me more motivation to keep working hard to get better!
This morning’s jewelry was gorgeous. It sure would be nice if there was some way of bringing it to the LL’s. I’ve stocked up on all the existing pieces, and even purchased some as gifts. It is so incredibly beautiful.
Last but not least, I do think it would be a great idea to publish a library of your presentations on the Q. I just love watching and re-watching. Each time I get new ideas. I want my own copy, and unfortunately I have not had the forethought to record all the shows. I wish there was some way for the Q to turn these into an item number. I would definitely purchase it! Have you ever asked if they would do this?
You’re the best – LOVE YOU!!
Hello Louis,
Thank you for being on QVC today. I have recently discovered your clothing line and have purchased many items. I have two questions, the first is I heard you say the short sleeve mock neck would be available on today’s show. I called customer service and they said it was not available. Do you know when it will be available and are the sleeves elbow length or shorter? The next question is will the boho skirts ever be available in petite?
Thank you for all your hard work, I really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Nanc
Dear Nanc,
I have no idea why the V-neck and mock neck have not been loaded into QVC’s system since I know the inventory is there. I can only guess since they were not planned to get air time….they are only loading items for planned shows at this time. With all the fashion days and nyc shows that are planned I am sure they are overwhelmed…..I will check to see when they will be avail. and get back to all of you. The mock neck is not an elbow length. It is a short sleeve, not too short…….regards, Louis
P.S……I don’t really know if they would ever consider making the Boho in a petite…….I will suggest it.
So you just had to torture us with the cross necklace we can’t have?
Seriously, great show. Bought just about everything and now counting the days till 9/12.
I’m working on it!
Louis,
Thanks you for all the effort you put into the one hour show this morning. I know you put great effort into every show but the fact that you battled a hurricane to bring us this show is amazing. Living in South Mississsippi I remember all too well that 6 years ago this very weekend we endured the full fury of Katrina and watching the coverage of Irene is a bit unnerving for me. Know that your extra effort is very much appreciated and that there are many who are sending positive thoughts, wishes and many prayers for all in Irene’s path in the eastern part of our country this weekend.
Your show was much anticipated and a great distraction. I ordered all three colors of the pants (and will get all three in the slim leg when they are available). I also ordered the beautiful pearl trimmed jacket, the faux shantung in sapphire and the topper. I also ordered the pucker fabric blouse in cassis as well as a few cardigans and scoop necks. But there are still items on my list. I had planned to order several mock necks and v necks but alas they are not available yet. Did I misunderstand? Not that I need them today. It is 95 degrees here today, but I am a planner and I can tell from the sneak peeks that Sept is going to be a high dollar month for the “card” so I wanted to get a few things off the list before then. Ha. Hope you are resting now before your trip back tomorrow. I wish you and Jac safe travels and hopes that all will be well when you arrive back home.
Hi,
You did not misunderstand they are essential pieces scheduled for Aug. selling and should have been avail. for selling at the same time of my show! I will check to see what happened and let all of you know…..regards, Louis
Loved the show and was thrilled with the new whisper knit tanks and cardigans. Are there other colors in the works? I would love white, ivory and navy.
I also love A210364 – whisper knit with ruffle. But I prefer it monotone so only have the black. Is there any chance that may be done again but with the lace matching the knit in other colors?
Thanks
Dear Peggy,
As of now there aren’t any more colors coming in the cardigan and tank. Depending on how they sell will determine if they get reordered or not…..we’ll just have to wait and see. The cardigan with the ruffle is not going to be reordered…….regards, Louis
Hi, Louis…thank you for the beautiful clothes. I love your style. I wear a lot of Marina Rinaldi…you line is similar, yet much, much better priced. I had a pair of the Rinaldi black pull on pants that I wore until they fell apart! I then looked and looked to no avail…until two seasons ago you offered a knit pull on pant of 69% rayon and 31% nylon at QVC that was perfection. I ordered on black and one forest green. LOVE THESE PANTS. Had I known it would disappear from the line up, I would have ordered three in black. Such a staple in the fall and winter. Great with boots…mix and match with everything from St. John to your black turtleneck with fur coats…just fabulous. The black is showing the wear…please, please return these to your line…not matter the cost, I’ll buy several! I think I can make it one more season without…after that I’ll be desperate:) Please, please…I’m begging for these pants! They are the best.
Dear Debra,
The pants you are referring to were my favorite pants ever but did not sell well……go figure. I tried to do a very similar style this fall in the same yarn and knit but they were very expensive….for QVC and they were bought, but I haven’t given up because I believe in them too. By the way they were in they “every needle rib…ENR” in the whisper knit…..regards, Louis
Hello Louis.
I hope you fared well during the storm.
Thank you for a wonderful show this morning. I ordered many of the essential pieces & look forward to the sneak peek pieces next time.
I have learned so much from watching your shows. Was wondering if you ever considered doing a book or video on how to style the clothes?
Thank you for everything.
Parisa (wishd4it)
Louis, thank you for the fabulous show today. The only problem is that QVC does not have the mock neck or v-neck sweaters available for sale. When will we be seeing the ribbed cardigan that you sneak-peeked for us? Will it be available in black?
Hi Sonia,
I am assuming you are referring to the crew neck cardigan with the wide rib waist band that Kate was wearing. It is a new essential item for Sept. I don’t know when the essential items will be avail. The mock neck and the v-neck in the whisper knit were essentials for Aug and were supposed to be avail already but, it seems they aren’t. All of the new essentials in the acrylic and wool [ the cardigan is one] will be avail in steel gray, mallard blue, cassis and ….yes…black…….regards, Louis
Hello Louis,
My daughter and I love your clothes, however, we really like the jewelry we saw on your presentation on QVC today. Please tell us where we can buy these gorgeous pieces. They are not available on QVC.
We love, love, love them!
Thank you,
Shirley
Dear Shirley….not knowing which pieces you were interested in all I can say is….some are my pieces that are avail. on my Linea QVC site and the rest are from my private collection and are not avail. Some are from a wonderful store in SOHO in NYC but , I have recently found out it is closing because the owner has decided to retire…..a great loss for NYC…..regards, Louis
Louis, I am watching your QVC show now and enjoying every moment. I set my clock this morning to make sure I didn’t miss you. A bunch of us on the QVC community board were hoping to be able to order the ribbon/pearl trimmed jacket last night so we stayed up till midnight to try to get an order in, but QVC held out on us. I ordered both the black (A color which I rarely wear on top) and the perfectly pink. Both look absolutely gorgeous. My request is that you do this jacket, all in ivory. I have to say, the price is ridiculously low. I would have purchased this jacket for much more and been happy to get it. Thank you so much for your wonderful fashion and attention to detail. The quality of your clothing is unsurpassed. Please, more tops and jackets in ivory. Love you.
Dear Cathy,
If it should get reordered I will definitely consider it. My two choices that did not get ordered were Ivory and Red, both with ivory and black ribbons and ivory pearls….it all depends how they do, but I really think Irene didn’t help the situation……….regards, Louis
Love, love , love your clothes. Wish you made everything in black … love the jacket on QVC but wanted black. Thanks! Teri
Dear Louis and Jac, Just sending more good wishes and prayers your way as you make your journey to Pa. Here on the West Coast we are watching CNN and praying for those in harm’s way. Many blessings to you both, and to the girls and their sitter. Very Sincerely, Sandi S.
I absolutely am loving your knee length skirts . I have item A97285 in 2 colors. Perfect fit and length for my figure, very flattering. LOVE LOVE LOVE you to bring more, especially in the same type of fabric. How about a red??? With a nice taylored jacket to match?? Also looking for a WHITE ruffled long sleeve sexy blouse.Flowing ruffle layers down the front and 1 or 2 inch double layers on the sleeves. Washable of course. Please at least 25 1/2 or 26 inch length sleeve. I am tall and have long arms.I know you can design a wonderful elegant white blouse for us. South Carolina coast(where I live)has been getting the effects of Irene today. Louis and Jac please stay safe. I will definitely be waiting and watch for your shows on Sunday and Monday. Hugs to you both.
I printed out all the items #’s you gave us and will order sight unseen on a Smartphone! I’m in MD and I’ll be very surprised if there are no power outages.
Best wishes to you and Jac for a safe trip.
regards
Judi
Hi, Louis. What is Hurricane Irene going to do with your show scheduling? Can you and Jac make it down to PA safely? Don’t take any undue risks—we don’t want anything to happen to you and Jac.
Sheesh
Dear Sheesh,
Thank you for your concern. Jac and I are leaving Ct very early in the morning so hopefully we will miss the beginning of Irene. We have changed our plans and have decided to wait in PA and come home on Monday after the storm has passed. The “girls” are having a sleep over with their sitter who lives inland. I just hope there isn’t wide spread power outages on the east coast and the ladies will miss the show………..best regards, Louis
I’m so glad you’ve decided to stay over til Monday and return home when things have settled down!
You’ll be happier knowing your “girls” are having a sleep-over with an inland sitter! I’m sure they’ll have a safe stay.
My prayers and thoughts are with you and Jac traveling up and down the East Coast this weekend. Be safe!
All the best,
Nancy ( aka -smilesalot )
Louis, if we don’t lose cell phone service, we can order through our iPhone apps… oh the wonders of technology….and there is always ordering over the land line phone…sight unseen—who cares about a little hurricane—LOL—we know what we want…I’ll have my Item #’s ready to go! Safe travels. Love, Sheesh.
Hi Louis,
I have a question about your A210360 jewel sweater. I am a medium in your jacket – but this said the medium was 37′ which sounds small to me But, ladies said to size down. I have a little midruff but only 36C. Do I buy medium or large. What is your opinion?
Also, between the two new slim leg pants. What is the medium inseam? Are their any talls?
Any elastic in waist? I am small on bottom but have a larger waist. How are they running?
thank you for the helping me.
So glad you loved War horse
Dear NJ lady,
I think the ladies would be more qualified to answer you fit questions. I suggest you post these questions on the Linea forum. I only get xs samples so I really couldn’t give you an educated answer if something is running true to size, larger or smaller.Since the Ladies have experience with the sweater in different sizes, they would know how it fits.
The two new pants do have elastic in the waist band. The inseam for all sizes is the same for both style pants….the slim leg and the straight leg. The slim leg will be shorter than the straight. There aren’t any size tall this season. Again I believe they are running true to size. I believe they are much the same as my contour pant from last season.
Thanks for replying. Where is the Linea forum? what is the link? I will gladly ask.
Do u have a number for the contour pant so I can check out & be ready to order.
Thanks again.
The Linea forum is on the QVC web site. You go to the Community…click “fashion” and the forums will come up on the left….click “Linea”.The contour pant was last season and is sold out. Thought you may already own it. Since these are new pants the ladies can only tell you in general how my pants fit it is still doesn’t answer your question 100%…regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
May I take a moment to thank you for bringing in such a wonderful assortment of knits for fall. Your knits are without equal that I have found. Special thanks for bringing us the variety of necklines:, turtle, mock and V necks. We really need different necklines to compliment different jackets, etc. in much the same way that different pants and skirts require different shoes. I do love your knits, but I know that a high neckline does not work for me. I appreciate the V and look forward to ordering that style in a variety of colors.
Louis, this sounds fabulous! After reading your reply, I went to QVC.com and bought the short sleeve shell in fawn. I am now planning on getting the equestrian jacket in red (probably) and the boyfriend jacket in the grey and fawn. (And the v-neck sweater in at least 3 colors, and the slim pants in every color you give us!)
It’s so much fun to be able to chat and have access to a designer of your caliber – how very gracious you are to allow us this access to you. My husband and I went to a book launch party in NYC last night, and then out to dinner. I wore one of my favorites – A 199262 – with super slim black cigarette pants and killer high black pumps. And I loved getting compliments all night from women -including the author – who asked me where I got my jacket! And yup – I told them it was a Louis Dell Olio design. You’re the best – my secret weapon!
Oops .. forgot a question. Chenille always sounds a little fuzzy to me. Is this a fuzzy blazer – or more of a boucle texture?
Dear Enjay,
It is absolutely flat. If you have ever seen silk or silk/linen chenille upholstery it is very flat almost like a petit point in its weave. It can go dressy or super casual with jeans. It is, by far, one of the best fabrics I have ever used at QVC. My manufacturer thinks it look like Armani…..and it does. I used a fabric similar to it at Anne Klein and the Italian fabric maker supplied Armani too. Do not hesitate, it is a super fine fabric and the jackets and colors are gorgeous……regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
I just love the long lean lines of a good boyfriend blazer, and I’m so excited that you’re doing one. I agree that slim pants look terrific with this style of jacket. So … what colors will the new blazer come in? I want to make sure to get the right color of slim pants next week, if these will work well with the new blazer.
Thanks! (and wow, my wish list is growing and growing!)
Enjay,
The chenille jacket will come in a mid range heather looking gray, a taupe/fawn and a deep purple. I am showing the olive pant and short sleeve crew with the taupe but any colors will look great with this jacket. I can make all of the pant colors work with each jacket……again it depends on what you wear it with and the accessories……………the fawn, black and olive pants are all terrific………regards, Louis
Hi Louis. I am so looking forward to the next show! I have a question regarding the turtleneck sweater (A72448) in the color purple. Will this purple match the zebra print trench coat (A77886) in violet/black, the leopard print jacket (A83571) in iris, or the motorcycle suede jacket (A210358) in purple?
Also, I have the silk charmeuse blouse (A73322) in peacock blue and a long tunic sweater vest (A72843) in the same peacock blue. Are these a match to the new dark blue mallard essential sweaters?
Thanks for checking on this for me. It is appreciated!!
Dear Carol,
I no longer have the sample of the charmuse shirt. I looked it up and if we are talking about the same shirt it is from the year 2000. The swatch I have [I keep all color swatches for my records] is extremely close to the dark mallard. Charmuse is a tricky fabric to match a color to….it changes with the light when you move it but, they are very close. I do not remember the vest at all and when I looked it up on line there was no info.
The purple is another story. The turtle neck is not the same purple as the suede. The suede is a little bluer. The purples of the zebra and the leopard are much lighter than the turtleneck so they do not match….however, they are the same type of purple so they do go together. It just depends if you like a darker T-neck under the jackets. The purple turtle neck is a gorgeous color and is going to work beautifully with the new things coming i.e. a new woven chenille boyfriend blazer which is an amazing new fabric and jacket. It is one of the most exciting finds I had this coming season!….regards, Louis
Thanks for your speedy reply! I found the silk charmeuse shirt on QVC as an “as is” last year–in perfect condition and what a beautiful color! The tunic vest was an ebay purchase. Your clothes are timeless, the fit is great, and they all coordinate so well–no more endless trips to the retail stores trying to match up that elusive color. I love how you coordinate your pieces and give us so many choices. Thank you! Enjoy the weekend and I’ll be there at midnight placing orders and with you on your show on Sunday (8/28). See you then!
Dear Carol,
If you don’t mind me asking, who on e-bay did you get the vest from?
………thanks, Louis
I purchased the vest from “treasures_of_asia.” She currently has this vest available for sale in the topaz color. It is listed as item #110730707778. The one I purchased had the Linea label with the QVC item number on it. Since I am fairly new to Linea I look to ebay to find your clothes that are no longer available on QVC. All of the items I have purchased from this seller have been new in the QVC package. She has several of your creations, some of which I recognize the style, but not the color. Could these have been samples? Hope this helps. Can’t wait for next Sunday!
VERRRRRRY interesting, the topaz is also an amazing color and I had done the same charmuse shirt that you have in matching topaz. We never shipped this sweater to QVC due to some problems so I’m wondering how they got it….again….verrrry interesting. thanks, Louis
Louis, IMO this particular eBay seller must have a connection to the manufacturer as garments like this one pop up from time to time. Wherever she gets them from, we are glad that she has them :-). As Always, Barbara
In the past I purchased a few never-seen-on-air Linea items from this ebay seller. The standout was a dark green suede long jacket with gold embroidery. Shortly after my purchase, a similar jacket went into the Q inventory in a boucle fabric. I assumed this was a sample that somehow this seller had obtained.–blinddogs
That is quite possible. I don’t recall the jacket you are speaking about in either suede or boucle.
Now that is interesting! It makes the vest even more special. I would love to have the blouse and vest in the topaz, but haven’t spotted either in my size yet. The hunt continues! Can’t wait for next Sunday–the ribbon pearl jacket in black (which I missed the first go around) and the pink along with your pants and essentials will be in my cart. Thanks again!–Carol
Dear Chris Jazzmom,
The petite straight leg pant has an inseam of 29 inches, The petite slim leg has a 27 inch inseam………..regards, Louis
Hi Louis!
I hope you are well. I have enjoyed wearing Linea so much this summer, particularly the crops and the tanks w/sheer georgette shirts, the sleeveless pebble crepe tunics and big white shirt w/leggings, the Rita Hayworth dress and the boho dress, the tanks/cardigans. I wore these so much of the time when I was at the beach.
I have a question regarding the upcoming slim leg/straight leg pants. Would one of the two styles look better on a petite person or is it just a matter of personal preference? It seems like such a long time since your last show, and Aug. 28 is a long time coming!
Fondly,
Celia
Dear Celia,
Both styles would look good on a petite person. The style a petite person has to be careful of is wide leg pants with a 10 inch or more leg opening. That type of pant really looks better on a person 5’6″ or taller. The two pants I will be offering will look good on everyone……it’s a matter of silhouette. As a rule of thumb…..but not always, I like shorter jackets with a straight leg or wider pant and longer jackets with a straight or slim leg pant…..the same principle as tunics over leggings. One would have to have a perfect body to wear a fitted short top with leggings or tights. I see women at the gym in this look….not a good one for most……regards, Louis
Louis, you are supposed to be exercising at the gym, not checking out the ladies bods!
Speaking of wide leg pants, do you have any coming this fall? I love that look. Takes me back to my college days. Does that date me? LOL We used to wear the wide leg pants with body suits and big platforms. I’m over 5’6″, so I qualify.
Sincerely,
crdlb
I go to a very small gym.
I am not doing wider leg pants for this fall but I am thing about doing one for next fall…Yes, I remember the look well, and I think anything 70’s is coming back…….regards, Louis
Thanks, Louis! Very helpful information! I will keep all this in mind. I am getting so impatient waiting for the next show! I hope you are well. And regards to Jac!
Celia
Hi Louis-
I thought you might find this interesting. I was given a box of scarves that had belonged to my aunt who worked for Robinson & Golluber for many years. I hadn’t opened it until yesterday….what a treasure trove!!! Among the scarves were 4 Anne Klein silk scarves. The first one is 10″ x 50″ in shades of aubergine, sienna, black and dark brown. If I didn’t know better I would think the aubergine dye lot was exactly the same as the current aubergine! An incredible match. I’ll wear it with the whisper knits, the sweet potato ponte and other items of yours. The 2nd is a sqaure chain print…a navy border, gold chain, gold coins and a cream center. The chain looks identical to the chain print you recently offered. I will wear it with navy and the dark greens. The 3rd is a beautiful long floral print in rusts and gold..it will work with so many things. The 4th is an oblong status print, with the crests, emblems, etc….it reminds me very much of the prints you offered this Spring. It’s the neutral one…browns, rusts, gold. Fabulous scarves!!! Did you design the prints?
Best regards-
Judi
Dear Judi,
Robinson & Golluber had the Anne Klein license to produce and sell scarves to the accessory departments. I did not design the prints directly but, I was the design director of all licensees. Every season I would have meetings with the “Design Studio” which was a separate group of designers who were responsible for designing the licensed products [umbrellas, scarves, small leather goods etc.] I would give them my colors of the season [aubergine, sienna, golds, deep greens always being my favorites] and those colors would be used for every licensee for that season. I would also so them the prints I was using for the season as an inspiration and, many times they would interpret prints that I was using such as the chain but, they weren’t aloud to use the exact print I was using because that was exclusive to my collection. I used the crest as an emb. for a tote very early on at QVC. Some of the ladies were discussing that exact tote with the crest emb very recently. Those were the days when we all use silk even the licensees…….now we live in a poly world. Yesterday I was at a fabric apt. with a very dear friend of mine who reps fabric lines. She told me the world is using polyester more and more…..even the most expensive “Designer” lines are using a lot of poly and poly blends. It is not a “cheap” end fabric anymore…..but I digress…..enjoy your scarves….they are going to look great with many things coming this fall……..regards, Louis
Hi Louis-
Thank you for your very informative and interesting reply. I can see that the prints and the colors have your “stamp” on them! The aubergine dye lot is amazing. I will enjoy wearing the scarves with your items, and many others as well. I know poly is the way of the world these days, but I still treasure my silks. However, I will say, you have a way of turning poly into a wonderful garment!
BTW, I rec’d the fawn whisper knit, it’s a wonderful neutral, not too warm (muddy), but not too cool (taupe). I can’t wait for the riding jacket. My R.Lauren jacket is worn out and not the right size, at this point. I think I will have to get both!
Regards
Judi
Dear Blinddogs,
I received your question on my e-mail but, when I came here there was no Blinddogs? The answer to your question is YES! The spruce green knit skirt and short sleeve crew neck will work with the suede jacket as well as the ponte knit forest green skirt and the whisper knit forest green essential sweater. It’s strange because the forest is yellower than the spruce but they both work with the suede……unless these eyes are deceiving me. You are going to go wild for the pucker suit in Spruce Green. I’ve created a new button for the jacket [a domed half ball…dyed to match the green with a matte gold fine rim]. I just started shopping for new fall fabrics 2012 and it seems pucker fabrics are exploding. Last season I found 3 types…..yesterday there must have been 20……really beautiful, modern with a definite high end edge.
Thank you Louis! You’re the best. Sincerely, Sandi S.
Will the cargo pants in the chino color be reordered?
Dear Tylerpoo,
I don’t know yet. It usually takes 2 1/2 to 3 months from the date of the show to know if an item will be reordered. So by the end of the month I should know.
………….regards, Louis
Looking at the Louis Vuiton sequin skirt in Bazaar, I know you can do one just as nice and that I can afford to buy.
You know I can…..it’s just getting them to buy it!
The last one you designed sold out completely before I (and many others)could grab it. I would think that might be in favor of doing another? Your buyers are very strange.
I second that! They are always worried about price.
Those buyers need to get a clue about the price point Linea Ladies can afford. Not that I’m begging for price increases, but for heaven sake, if they doubled the price of that sequin skirt, I’d still buy two! I have to have the gray remade down to my size, and I’m willing to pay that tailoring in order to get it to fit–sequin removal and all. I’m sure the total will be far more than if I could order the correct size at the new price.
And the sequin pants? I’d pay $200 for a pair of your sequin pants. Have any you want to sell me?
Sincerely,
crdlb
Dear Louis, So sorry…I forgot to ask if the pearl blazer Pants will come in petite lengths. Several of the women have inquired on the Q forum. I cannot think of another question regarding these pieces and if I do I shall wait until January and see them for myself LOL. Thanks for being so kind! Best to you, Sandi S.
Dear Sandi,
I created this website so you can ask me questions, so never feel like your imposing! The pant will only be avail in the regular length and it is a zip front pant wit a contour waist……regards, Louis
good morning louis! don’t know if it has been asked and answered, but petite ladies are wondering what the upcoming petite pants in slim and straight leg inseam is? thanks for your quick responses. i am doing okay– day 2 of shoulder surgery of a 30 day slinging even while sleeping.zpna
Dear Louis,
I just received your stripe sweater (A00025) in the marine blue/red combo – outstanding! This is one of the best color combinations I have ever seen. Even though the sweater runs a bit small (glad that only a S was avail. whereas I usually wear an XS) I’m very delighted. Please do a winter coat/trench in this color story. Any chance you have some drawings at your desk right now? Thanks.
Birdie
Dear Louis, Thank you so much for your quick response! I almost screamed out loud (with delight) when I read that you are bringing pants in these colors! Oh thank you thank you! May I bother you with another question, what will the material be? I am the resident 5-footer so I know I will be having them altered but that’s OK!! I got a chuckle about cancelling my Champagne color, no luckily they have completely different order numbers for each and every waitlist item on our accounts, so I am in no danger there. Am I remembering correctly that the Pearl Blazers will be coming in the first quarter of next year, and will the pants be coming in then as well? You’ve made my day by the way! All the best to you and Jac. Sincerely, Sandi S.
The pant will be the same crepe as the jacket….and they will be on my Jan. show…….regards, Louis
Hello Louis, I have a question about the Blazer w/Pearl Buttons (A213215) I had a question awhile back re this jacket coming back in perfectly pink (I believe it was a disappointing ‘no’) but this is a new question! The Q loaded 2 new colors into the system a few weeks ago, Champagne, and Pale Lavender, which appeared on waitlist (I waitlisted both) and then they vanished from the system, which I think you explained once that’s how it works there, and then the colors come back later before whichever show. BTW they do not cancel the waitlist, mine are still on my order status. At any rate, yesterday a third color appeared on waitlist, this one is Pale Sand.
Finally, my actual question is, are there going to be 3 new colors (champagne, pale lavender, pale sand) or only 2, with Champagne and Pale Sand being one and the same?
Thank you for your kind support of our questions, very much appreciated! Sincerely, Sandi S.
Dear Sandi,
I am glad you asked this question. Champagne does not exist. The new colors are pale lavender and pale sand. So you can cancel your wait list on it or just ignore it. Maybe, if you cancel they will get confused and cancel everything!!!Just know that the colors are Pale Lavender and Pale Sand. There will also be pants in black, pale sand and pale lavender……regards, Louis
Hi, Louis! I gather from your earlier response that the Spruce Green suede jacket I have on wait list is in fact a warmer green such as the one of the Roma Ponte Ninotcha jacket and skirt from last Fall in Forest? Thanks again! Barbara
Dear Barbara,
Actually, it goes both ways. The suede mill was given the spruce as the standard but it came in too yellow and looked like the forest green so I had them redo it and make it bluer. The end result is that it works with the essential sweater and ponte skirt in forest green as well as the crew neck and knit skirt in spruce….strange but it does…………..regards, Louis
Interesting! But that’s all the better :-). Thanks so much! Barbara
Louis
I must opologize first. I posted a question and then left on vacation and by the time I returned–you must have answered and I was too late. Could you indulge me one more time and I will check each day for your answer.??
My question was about the lined, satin stretch crops that came in Navy, White, tan and butter. Is there any chance to bring these back for the 2012 Spring collection?
Thankyou Louis.
No problem,
Unfortunately, the pants you have inquired about have not been reordered. So what ever remains we be the final quantity…..regards, Louis
Dear nikki,
I hope you got my answer about bottoms for the green suede jacket and leopard print. I don’t see it here? Any way do you have the A210367 skirt and the A210368 sweater in forest green? They both look good with the green suede jacket. The skirt is also sold out except the xs but, the sweater is avail in most sizes….hope this helps…..regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
thankyou for reposting the answer as I did not see it before. I donot have the skirt 210367. i am usually a small, since this is a knit skirt, i might be ok with an xs. However, except for black, what other colors would you coordinate with the forest green. Perhaps something that is coming soon. THankyou again
regards
Dear Nikki,
I have a spruce green skirt coming in late Dec…..it is a pucker fabric and there will be a matching jacket. The fabric is very European. I have used similar fabrics when I was at Anne Klein and designers like Armani, Donna Karan and Yoji Yamamotto are using it right now. It looks great with the Spruce Green leopard print. It may be a little adventurous for some to mix the fabrics but fashionistas will love it. It is very editorial. It does not work with the S. Green suede. For that I would wear jeans, dark navy, charcoal gray, steel gray, fawn. taupe, espresso brown and of course black. You really can wear many different colors for the bottom. You can also wear many different color tops. My Spruce green jewel neck with any of the color bottoms I mentioned above and then accents from fawn to purple, red, oatmeal etc. You just have to decide if you want to be quiet and classic that day or more dramatic with a red turtle neck. Pull it all together with your accessories….scarves, jewelry, bags etc….Let your imagination go!…..regards, Louis
Spruce green pucker suit! Sounds like a perfect wintertime outfit! When do we get to see the faux suede Robyn?
Dear SpaGal,
The faux suede Robyn shirt will be on my late Dec. show……regards, Louis
Thanks…lots to look forward to in Dec…my wedding and your great clothes! Spa/Kristen
Dear Barbara….It will look fantastic!!!!!As a matter of fact I am doing another crushed velvet skirt for Oct. It is long, gored and will come in black and a deep purple. The riding jacket in either color looks fantastic with a velvet bottom. I tried the red jacket with my new sequin cowl neck top, black on black, and my old Linea black velvet pencil skirt [also came in grape]….it looked wonderful together and so unexpected. You can even wear the georgette boho with the jacket…..it is very romantic looking with a turtleneck and a wonderful Hermes or Gucci type belt. I have a vintage Gucci belt that I bought in the 70s with a double horse head buckle….later Ralph knocked it all. You are going to be over the moon with the riding jacket. Do you have the SILK, bias plaid long skirt I did ages ago for QVC….that would look fantastic too. Get out your equestrian scarves and saddle shoulder bags…..Tally Ho………regards, Louis
Grrrreat!!!!! In my mind’s eye I saw my black velvet boho with the riding jacket. No, I don’t have the silk bias plaid long skirt 🙁 but I can sure see them together. I can also see the sequin cowl neck top for another look. Silk equestrian scarves are at the ready! I also have a wonderful pin that was my mother’s. It is a largish circle shape with a braided leather whip like a whipper in would use that goes around and around in a circle with a sterling horse head in the middle and a smaller silver crop that goes diagonally across it. She used to wear it on her tweed hacking jacket with her khaki jods. And she always carried her red leather crop! Am also ready with my tall black riding boots and might even wear my nice pair of paddock boots with my jacket!!!! Heck, I might even pull out my old hunt stock tie and secure it with my gold safety pin. Tally Ho! But ‘Ware Hole!
Hi, Louis! How do you like the new riding jacket over your crushed velvet boho? I usually wear a shorter top with my boho, but wondered how it would look with the riding jacket. Thanks so much! Barbara
Hello Louis,
I am making my list for the upcoming aug show. I am on waitlist for the suede spruce green jacket and the spruce green leopard print. Do you have any bottoms coming to match/coordinate this color. I know there is a pencil skirt, however only in xs, anything else?
thankyou and i look forward to the shows
Dear nikki,
There is a spruce green pencil skirt coming in LATE Dec. The show is after Christmas. It is a very unusual fabric and there is a matching jacket. It is actually the same body as my “essential” jacket that is avail in graphite. The fabric is a pucker fabric….I know it sounds strange but, trust me it is very beautiful. It’s the type of fabric I would have used at Anne Klein and I’ve seen similar fabrics at Armani, Donna Karan, Yoji Yamamoto and many European designers. It looks great with the leopard print but not with the suede because the colors are not right together. I think it looks fabulous together and very editorial. If this is not your cup of tea and is too adventurous for you….then with the suede I would suggest, black, dark brown, dark navy, fawn, taupe and dark charcoal gray bottoms. With the leopard print you are best staying with black or charcoal gray……regards, Louis
This ‘queen of green’ has the pencil skirt in spruce green you did last year but is now virtually sold out. (That was the one you ‘made for me’) Will it indeed work with the new suede jacket in spruce green that I have ordered on waitlist?
I loved that graphite ‘essentials’ jacket and have been hoping for more colors. Although the fabric is different on the new spruce jacket and skirt, looks like yet another green outfit will be heading to my closet! thanks for all the green you do for us green-obsessed Ladies!– blinddogs
The sequinned blouses sound very desirable. But what about a sequinned skirt? I’m looking at the Louis Vuiton one in Bazaar and know that you can do one just as nice that I can actually afford to buy.
Dear Beano….I would love to….I had a sample made to match the tops but it wasn’t ordered…..I can’t force the issue….maybe next fall I will get one through……regards, Louis
Hi Louis !
I know this question may somehow jump the gun, but, is there any way you could bring back for next Spring, the A89801 Stretch Satin pant in the sand and butter?
Or any other color for that matter, Blacdk would be wonderful as well, maybe perfectly pink and olive, or mocha. I do so love the ones I have in the white and the navy ! I love that they are lined and the sizing is spot on as usual. I’ll be hoping !!
Dear Annieshummingbird,
What a wonderful name. Once in a while I am blessed to see a hummingbird in my garden but, it is a rare. I plant lots of flowers to attract them but I think there just aren’t many in this area.
I am sorry to say that pant is not being reordered but, hopefully I will have some terrific new pants to offer you this coming spring and maybe some will be in the colors you have mentioned…..regards, Louis
Hi, I bought your taupe crepe tuxedo jacket and need a pencil skirt to go with it for a wedding, will there be one coming this fall that will match?
Dear Jean,
Unfortunately, I am not repeating the fabric or color….regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
I can’t wait for the equestrian jacket and know I’ll have a tough time choosing between the red and the fawn. One question that might help – is the shade of red in the equestrian jacket the same as the red you used for A78354 (it’s been sold out in the red for a couple of years, but it was a tomato, rather than a blue red.)
Thanks! And I’m making a list and checking it twice for the August show – I’m planning on lots of sweaters and slim pants.
Dear Enjay,
Comparing the two reds….the riding jacket is deeper and less tomato. For me it isn’t a tomato red at all but, I hesitate to call it a blue red. It is a real hunting red, which for me is a “true red”. It matches my silk /cashmere turtle neck which is no longer avail. in red. However, I have done the “whisper knit” turtleneck in the same red which is now avail. It is going to be a difficult choice as they are both beautiful……..regards, Louis
