    Dear Louis:

Hope you don’t mind reading this (kinda ‘shy’ to share), but my Mushroom Plaid as well as both Tweed blazers were shipped with NO replacement buttons. By far, this is not a complaint or big deal in my book – I’m a button collector! Just hope you can appreciate that I replaced the plaid with a wonderfully hand-made Caribou antler button & the Walnut tweed with (3) gemstone Tiger’s Eye – Both look beautiful & are custom for ME! All original buttons were archived to maintain your originality! These (3) jackets hang ‘Proudly’ next to my Harris & Donegal Tweeds I’ve been wearing for years! Please don’t let the demands of Retail ever hinder your creativity! Hope UR enjoying Fall colors – we’ve had A 1st snow fall in Anchorage, but it melted same day (almost 2 weeks ago). Temps are perfect for much of my ‘new’ Linea. Thank you so much….and I’m still pondering the Tarragon – don’t won’t to loose a button! Waiting to receive the velvet in Tarragon, then I will make a move…. Cheers, Pamela in Anchorage

    1. Sharon Santourian-Holman

Pamela, your customized buttons sound fabulous! Good for you, love your creativity!:)

      1. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

Oh, thank you Sharon. Just hope I did not offend Louis, by any means! I adore all my Linea – NEW and forthcoming! Sincerely, Pamela

        p.s. Isn’t Fashion Fun!

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pamela………..I only wish I could afford to put such nice and unique buttons on the garments. Making YOUR clothes individually yours is always fine with me. The buttons sound beautiful!

  2. Pat Hill

Louis, will the violet draped blouse match the purple in the new paisley sweater? Also will there be a sweater that will match that purple in the paisley sweater? I know I can wear it with black, but I want to bring out the purple color too. I love your clothes. I wish I was working so I could wear them oftener, but I love being retired more.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pat……I don’t really think the drapped top and the paisley sweater go together, however in Nov. I will have many choices in violet sweaters that you can wear with your paisley sweater.

  3. Birdie

Louis, will the herringbone bouclé blazer in topaz work with the walnut velvet skirt?

  4. Carol in FL

    Hi Louis,

I just received the crew neck cardigan with velvet trim in teal–what a beautiful sweater! Is this teal color the same teal that is shown in your new jacket, turtleneck, and whisper knits tops to come?

    Thank you!

    Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

So glad you like my “shabby chic” sweater. No, actually the colors are very different even though technically they are both in the teal family. I guess I should have given them different names, but I am running out.

      1. Carol in FL

Thanks, Louis. No matter what the name it is beautiful! Thanks, again.

        Carol

    Dear Louis,

I am looking forward to purchasing the three solid color boucle jackets to wear with the matching whisper knit turtlenecks as shown in your photo. Should I size up to allow for the additional bulk of the sweater underneath? I particularly want enough room in the upper arm allowance. Thank you for such beautiful colors!

    Alice Speelman

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No, that won’t be necessary…..it is my understanding that allowance was made for a light sweater.Of course if you have issues with your upper arms and have found that area to be a problem then you may have to reconsider. I just don’t want the resy of the jacket to become too big.

  6. Tylerpoo

Louis, will the sunburst pleated skirt be reordered, need a small for me and a med. for my sister. These sizes are not available and have been stalking since the skirt was aired. Wishing that someone sends a small size back!

    Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

It is much too early to tell. Are you on wait list…..they usually come through. Every size but the two you want are avail. so the chances are good.

  7. Bobbie

Hi, Louis. I would like to add some feedback to your question and the other ladies’ responses regarding skirts for plus size women. I do not wear the pencil skirts or knee length skirts, because I feel that they make me look larger. I have purchased your longer skirts in multiple colors: the boho skirts, the long skirts with side slits that go with the tunics, the crushed velvet skirts, and the faux suede skirts. They make me look longer and leaner, and I definitely feel more feminine and elegant when I wear them with your tops and jackets. They look nice with heels and boots, and the summer skirts look great with sandals and flats.

On another note, I have to tell you about my weekend fiasco. My husband and I went on an impromptu trip this weekend, without checking the weather channel. We live in the south, and the weather has been warm, so I packed accordingly; however, a cold front blew through, dropping the temperatures into the 40’s/50’s. I immediately began layering all of my beautiful Louis Dell’Olio pieces and jewelry and felt warm and fashionable. My husband, however, insisted that I run into a Dillards department store to find a jacket or sweater, since our plans included a lot of walking outdoors. I looked at all of the clothing in the women’s department and simply felt like crying. Everything was so matronly and poorly made, yet so expensive. I left with a simple solid color wool wrap to add to my outfit for the evening. The experience validated what I have known for years, that you design the most beautiful and affordable fashions for women of all sizes, that you truly care about your ladies in choosing fabrics and designs and in constructing garments that give us confidence and make us feel our loveliest. I haven’t been to a department store or boutique in years, because I order your fashions with confidence and have never been disappointed. I sometimes order too much and get into a little trouble with my husband, but this weekend may have saved me. He saw the prices of the clothing in the department store!! Also, he repeated twice an uncharacteristically observant statement that my adult son made to me this weekend…”Mom, people are turning and looking at you a lot today. I think they like what you are wearing.” Not bad for a senior citizen! (Olive slim leg pants, olive WK turtleneck, new paisley scarf top and Byzantine jewelry layered) Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Dell’Olio.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Bobbie….I could not be happier with your letter! It really inspires me! Thank you again…………..sincerely, Louis

  8. Birdie

Louis, can you do a vest that coordinates with your new herringbone bouclé blazer? Cut off the arm part… so to speak? Could a seamstress do that at all? Not to mess with your designs but I’d like a blazer AND a vest 🙂

  9. Cheri

Louis, I can hardly wait until October 19 and the 30th. I so look forward to being able to order the jackets, the ivory pants and the drape neck top. You have truly outdone yourself. I love the tweed jacket(walnut) and I got the whisper knit pants.
Just waiting for it to get cold enough here in North Carolina to be able to wear them. Thank you so much for all you do for us with the sneek peeks and the way you produce such quality clothing that we are able to afford. May God bless you, Jac and your fur babies.

  10. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Jane….I have heard from the women that the brushed cotton jacket is more shaped than the usual Linea jackets. I have not heard that about the mushroom tweed. My manufacturer always fits on the same 1X model for the plus size range…….we try to keep things as consistent as possible, and rely a great deal on what the model has to say as she works for many companies and knows what the industry standard is. Both the chenille and the faux linen herringbone jackets were definitely more of a relaxed fit…..so if you are in between sizes perhaps you would be happier with the larger size as there is more shape to this jacket than the two you mentioned. Question….as a plus women what is your feeling about skirts? Do you where pencil skirts like my A09484, acrylic/wool knit skirt. I’m really not sure what kinds of skirts plus women like…..especially shorter plus women…..and guidance would be appreciated.

    1. Jane

      Thanks, Louis, for your response.

When jackets are snug on me, it’s usually because they are snug across the back. Living in NYC (Brooklyn), I also intend to wear these new jackets with the new turtlenecks — ordered and on their way already!!! — and other heavier sweaters. From what you say, I will size up in this new jacket.

As for skirts, I don’t (can’t) wear them. I am 5’9 1/2″ but as a plus size they just do not look good on me so I stick with the pants. I did size DOWN in the WK pants and with the matching Tarragon cardigan, I actually felt slim. Thank you!

      Jane

    2. Susan (aka CarlyTwila

Louis – I have a sister that is a 3X. I have purchased Linea items for her from time to time. She loves the bohos. All her life she has kept away from skirts that were not A-line shaped. She carries her weight in her hips. Hope that helps.

    3. Diamondscribe

Louis, I’m posting my opinion about skirts for this 3X. I do wear skirts. Well, I wear your skirts. Prior to these, I never wore skirts much even though I have the legs for them. I love the every-needle-knit pencil skirt – own it in 4 colors. I also buy pretty much all of your cotton pencil skirts – and some of that same style in other fabrics (the boucle’ and the textured knit come to mind). I think that style in your skirts is very flattering for me. I do not wear the longer, fuller skirts. I did not order either of the pleated skirts and I rarely buy the ones you offer with ruffles or tiers. I think they are great looking skirts, but they aren’t that great on me. I am a tall 3X and could wear them lengthwise, but am long-waisted, so when I set the longer, full skirts down on my waist where they are comfortable, the proportions are off-balance with my long torso above. I can wear a shorter, more tailored pencil skirt with a cardigan or jacket and it looks proportional. Plus, at my height and with my build, I feel a bit like a float in a parade with the long, layered and tiered skirts.

I think whether a plus size wears a skirt or not – and what kind of skirt – depends on the body type even more than her size or height. I have broad shoulders, thick in the waist and slim hips. No matter what size I am, I am pretty much straight in proportions once past the broad shoulders. Loosing weight loses it evenly along my torso. So, for me, the pencil skirts work. They actually give the appearance of some hips there. I think the boho and fuller skirts probably work better on hourglass and pear shapes than a column shape like mine.

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

        Dear Diamondscribe,
Thank you very much for your answer which I found very helpful. Actually all the ladies that answered me have enlightened me. I think your statement about body shape and proportion is really the key. For you, long, tiered skirts don’t do it because you are long-waisted and the proportions are off. I get why you would look better in a short pencil skirt. I also understand other women who say they can’t wear a short pencil skirt but love the bohos, which is the opposite of you. So…..I guess the answer to my question is…there is no one answer…..variety is the best option for everyone. I think you might think about the A228339, sunburst pleated skirt. It hangs very slim like a pencil skirt and many plus women have commented how surprisingly flattering it was. With a long pull sweater and boots, it may give you a whole other look but still in your comfort zone….just a thought…….thank you……Louis

  11. Jane

    Good morning, Louis,

Yes, the question of fit in jackets is always a problem. Example, the herringbone and chenille jackets both fit beautifully in my regular size. But, the brushed cotton zipper jacket and the mushroom tweed both had to size up. I was just checking the Click Here measurements on all of these and they all seem to be the same(or within an inch or so) yet the fit is so different.

Any advice for the fit on this new jacket — which, by the way, is just gorgeous.

Also, have to say that I love the plain back on the jacket. So many times, jackets have vents or inverted pleats and for us plus size ladies that just doesn’t work. When I saw the picture of the back of this jacket, I knew immediately that this will work perfectly.

Thanks again for all that you do.

    Jane

  12. Alice Speelman

    Dear Louis,

I want to purchase your new herringbone brushed boucle jackets (A229475) to wear with their matching turtlenecks as you showed in your photographs. Should I order up one size for a comfortable fit over the sweaters?

    Thank you,

    Alice Speelman

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Alice….that’s a difficult question to answer without more info. Are you between sizes and if so do you lean to the larger or smaller of the size? Have you purchased one of my jackets before….which one and how did it fit?I wouls hate to have you size up and then find out it’s really too big and you could have gotten the smaller size. If you can give me more info I can answer you better. In general I would say no since the turtle neck is not thick at all, but it would help to have more info to go on.

  13. Deb/jazz

    Louis,

Will there be anything else in “topaz” besides the t-neck and blazer? I’m definitely in for the blazer!

Also, are you doing a poncho or anything similar this season? (If so, I’ll stop looking elsewhere)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Deb, those will be the only pieces in Topaz……I wanted to see how popular the color was first……you never know what the reaction will be to these golden/pumpkin shades.
Keep looking….I haven’t done one poncho.

      1. Deb/jazz

Well, I’ll tell ya what I’m gonna do then. One of the ladies on the forum discussed how she makes her turtlenecks into cowl necks. This probably will make you cringe, but I’m going to try it. If it works with one I already have, I’ll get the topaz one and be very happy with that!

  14. Toni Fisher

Dear Louis: They are messing with your webpage – they took all the new jewelry off and they large blocks of empty spaces.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Toni…..I don’t know what you mean? I just went to the page and if you type in any of the J numbers the new pieces show up. No, they are not listed in the main jewelry section, but they have never been. I’m not sure what the reasoning is behind that , but mine is not to reason why.

      1. Toni Fisher

Louis: I called QVC Cust. Ser. and told them they had empty blocks of space in between your merchandise. I type in the word “Linea” and your entire selection comes up on two or sometimes three pages. I asked Cust. Ser. if the jewelry I ordered yesterday was still in process along with the t-necks, and she said yes, but it won’t appear on the Linea web pages until maintenance is finished. She said, they removed your new jewelry, but it left large white blocks of space and then your merchandise continued on down the page. I went back to the Linea pages and they put your new earring in the gold, silver and gunmetal back along with the dangle earring (stilled listed as “black.”) Just opened up your selection on QVC and they still only have the dome earring and the dangle, the fleur-de-lis and necklace are gone.

        1. Toni Fisher

P.S. Just checked with QVC and my two pieces of jewelry shipped – see, you have to ride them like a wild Mustang – I told them, “look I don’t want to lose these pieces of jewelry because of your maintenance problems.” So for tonight, I can get a good night’s sleep.

  15. Jean

Louis, I enjoy reading your website for fashion tips and general fashion information as well as seeing the QVC previews and product info. With velvet-type fabrics being so popular this fall, I started wondering about the differences between velvet, velour, and velveteen. I found this description on Quora.com and thought your fashionable ladies might be interested as well. No doubt, it’s more complicated, but this is a simple explanation that I found interesting.

    http://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-velvet-velour-and-velveteen-from-a-structural-standpoint

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I read the report…very interesting. People in the past have thought of velour as the less expensive casual wear….however…the woven velours are quite different. They, like velvet have a nap that can be longer therefore the fabric has to be cut in one direction. The jacket velour fabrics can be made in silk, wool, cashmere and also be blended with other fibers for different effects. These fabrics are gorgeous and can be extremely costly ranging in the hundreds of dollars per yard. They are starting to make them in other fibers that are more reasonably priced.

      1. Jean

        Very informative. Thank you.

  16. Elysee

    Hi Louis!
Your thoughts on the new crew neck cardigan w/velvet trim in the spruce green with your older spruce green boucle skirt with the flippy hem – LOVE! (also have the short sleeved spruce green sweater). Wasn’t thinking about this sweater until I looked at the color options. Thought it might be a nice alternative to wearing the matching jacket to the skirt. I typically change up the skirt with a green suede jacket (no I wasn’t able to get yours) that I got from another designer that is a great match. Thanks! El

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Elysee,
I no longer have the sample of that skirt in the green so I really can’t say for sure, but I love the idea of it. I always think it’s fun to mix it up in off beat and quirky ways…….it is a very editorial approach to dressing. If you are confident and feel you can pull it off…then go for it. That is what gives YOU your own LOOK.

  17. Toni Fisher

PS – they are labeling the necklace and earrings as “black” but with wine beads. It’s the gunmetal finding on the earring, but it is wine.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Toni, you are absolutely right. I told the vendor rep the description waas wrong but it was never changed. I notified her again….let’s see how long it takes to type a new description.

  18. Toni Fisher

Dear Louis: Ordered the enamel cross in WINE, the earings in WINE and the bead necklace in WINE. What a beautiful coodinator you are, everything matches – with your sneak peeking, and our ordering, it’s a shame QVC is even involved. But I know, this is the route we must take. I LOVE everything, went back and ordered the topaz and teal t-necks – all us Scorpios LOVE these saturated colors and boy, do you saturate. Shocked QVC is loading your beautiful creations. LOVE, love, love.

  19. Barbara C.

    Dear Louis,

How will it look to wear both of the new bead necklaces together–one of each color. I love the look of two and if I can wear them together thought it would give me the option of incorporating them with more outfits, colorwise. Thank you very much!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. I have actually shown them that way on quite afew outfits. They really really look fabulous worn together. What I like to do is make sure that the side with the two large beads is worn on the opposite side of each other.zfb3

  20. Sharon

Just ordered all three of the new turtlenecks and the matching blazers or jackets are looking good too but I won’t mention them now.

  21. DeLois

Just ordered the bead necklace under Item No.J271862

    1. Toni Fisher

THANK YOU DeLois, ordered the necklace in wine. Unbelievable creations.

  22. Dariann

Just ordered the enamel cross – the correct number is J271859. Thanks, Barbara for the heads-up. Now I’m off to order the teal t-neck!

  23. jackie

Since I have a short neck, I’m not a huge fan of turtle neck sweaters. However, I have a number of your, LOL. What I am wondering is if we can expect other style sweaters in these same colors? I know the fuchsia is one that I will want and don’t know if there will be anything else coming in that color.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Jackie…..as part of my new essential group…Nov-Dec….I will have a variety of styles in Fuchsia, Violet, Teal, Walnut, Navy, Ivory and Black.

      1. Debbie

        Louis,
I am so glad to hear that there will be more Fuchsia items coming. It is one of my favorite colors and looks good on me. I ordered the T-neck today. Can’t wait to see the new essentials group!

  24. DeLois

Louis, Is there a difference in the cut of the tweed jacket and the new plain colored jackets????? Is the length the same, etc?

  25. Toni Fisher

Dear Louis: Ordered the fuschia t-neck instead of topaz. So glad they loaded your t-necks last night.

  26. Birdie

When are the sequin pants coming, Louis?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

forgetaboudit….they just won’t go for the price…and every year they get more and more expensive to make. I keep bring the sample in every season.

  27. Dariann

    Dear Louis,

Can your new stretch velvet print top, A228336, be used as a shirt jacket? I was thinking of pairing the black with A229478, your new stretch lace top in purple.

    Thanks,
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Dariann,
No there is no opening down the front. It is a pull-on top means to be worn like a blouse, on it’s own or under jackets.

  28. Toni Fisher

Not to upset you Louis, but they removed from New Arrivals – and are removed again from Linea on your big webpage- HOWEVER, I typed in Linea Velvet Tops and it came up – I didn’t have the A number – they can’t outfox us, we will find you.

    1. Jean

I just went to the QVC search box and typed in “linea velvet”, and all five items came up. So they’re definitely still available. I ordered the walnut in the top and skirt yesterday. They should be perfect for this fall weather in PA. I have a chocolate suede vest that I’m hoping will look good with them as outerwear until it gets colder and I need a coat.

  29. Toni Fisher

Your new items were listed last night and now removed. Who knows what their mindset is.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Did you type in the A numbers? The only thing I could guess is they are holding some quantity for the show???But check again they may pop back in.

      1. Toni Fisher

Yes, I did, but they went back on at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. At one point, they listed you with over 115 items, but the block shows 96. Another time, I clicked on those violet pants you have and it came up Liz Cliborn, but that has been fixed.

  30. Gail

I saw your comment about the new cardigan, that it doesn’t appear in your items on line. You’re right. I remembered that you gave the numbers on your sneak peaks. That enabled me to order the magenta. Thanks.

    1. Gail

Correction. Louis, there is a category called “new arrivals” on the left side of the page under Linea. The latest items are there.

  31. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

    Hi Louis:

I need your help, please? The ‘new’ relaxed-fit velvet skirt shows XS with a 28″ waist – is this correct? Most of my Linea skirts are Size Small with 28 inch waist, NOT X-Small……?
Would not be a first for erroneous (published) online info! Please clarify – Thanks, Pamela

      1. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

Thank you! Now I feel confident to order multiples. Gorgeous print – very sophisticated – Luxe Looks! Please share your design inspiration ‘On Air’ – I’ll be watching.

  32. Pat

Louis I just ordered all three of the printed velvet tops..they look amazing…wood love to buy velvet pants in all three colors without the print, will you have matching pants?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pat….no I didn’t do velvet pants. The WK pant in the Walnut, Tarragon and Black was the pant for this group. Very rarely do I get to do more than one pant per delivery.

  33. Mary

Louis, first let me say that your designs are just beautiful and I enjoy wearing and receiving many compliments on each piece that I own. I recently purchased your gorgeous leather and knit jacket in black and love it. However, one of the lapels is creased beautifully and the other has no crease at all. I’ve taken it to two of the best leather/dry cleaners in my area and both have told me if they were to try and crease the lapel it would ruin the jacket. I’m sure they are right, but as a last resort before I very sadly return it, I thought I would see if you had any suggestions. Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Mary…..I do not know why they said that…ALL leather is pressed with pressing machines. You should try to iron it yourself. First place the jacket on thew ironing board, fold the collar where you want the crease, place a towel over it and press, gradually increasing the heat until you get the crease. The towel should prevent any damage to the leather. As I said, these jackets as well as suede jackets, are all pressed in production. They were either afraid or didn’t know how to do it. I’ve done it myself at QVC with a Rowenta!!

      1. Deb/jazz

Mary, for some reason mine was the same way. I did just what Louis said. I put a cotton fabric over the leather and held the iron on it for a couple of minutes. I then left the fabric there and placed a dictionary (or any heavy book) and just left it for several hours. Success! I was NOT sending that jacket back!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

This sometimes happens in packing or shipping… when one is stacked on the other. If they weren’t packed just so….they can shift and the weight of one on top of the other can cause this to happen. But as I said, All suedes and leathers are pressed while they are being manufactured…..they have to be, so this is an easy fix. I really am surprised the leather/dry cleaners could fix such an easy thing.

    2. DeLois

This is a trick I try sometimes when shipping has caused a small problem with a garment, particularly leather. Take a lightweight card like a 4×6 recipe card and fold it in half. Put it over the edge of the lapel so there is cardboard front and back. Then take an old fashioned spring loaded clothes pin and put it over the fold of the lapel where you want some change and keeping it on the cardboard so it does not make a mark on the leather. I had a small wrinkle in the lapel and I was able to get rid of it with this method and moving it around and leaving it on for quite sometime…….

  34. Toni Fisher

Dear Ladies: I cannot get into Insider Mag. this week so I can’t look up anything – I called Customer Service and demanded a credit for one week since I can’t get into it. QVC is updating their system AGAIN, so watch your orders. Anyway, QVC gave me a $10 credit on future purchases. Again, watch that your orders go through.

  35. Debbie M

    Dear Louis,

What is the story on the necklaces we have been waiting for since last month? Specifically the ones you had with the tweed jackets?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Debbie…..I ask that question EVERT day! They are at QVC, and I have been told they will be on the site soon. I guess since they are sold on line only, and there is no pressure to get them processed for a show….they do not have priority, but don’t think I’m not pushing. If I could do the processing them myself I would…….I know how frustrating it is.

      1. Debbie M

Thank You Louis…I NEED them for my tweeds. LOL

  36. Charrie

    Hello Louis,
You are so bad for me! I love EVERYTHING I try on and when wearing any Linea,I am totally embarrassed at the number of compliments I receive on your clothing. What a problem to have! I wish I could afford every piece. Any chance you have something in your creative mind I could wear for mother of the bride in Greece this coming summer? You make me starry eyed!!! Sorry I havent written before, but I dont miss a blog……gotta see how to combine all these wonderful pieces

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Charrie…..finally I’ve heard from you!!LOL….I have been getting updates from you know who. Summer wedding in Greece…I’ve already had inquires so you two had better compare notes…LOL. It all sounds lovely…..Jac and I have been there many times and we have great friends who live in Athens. Is the wedding in northern or southern Greece, on an island or the mainland….of course this has nothing to do with what you will wear….just curious. Are you planning on wearing something some what formal or casual….a dress, a suit, long, short? I will have things, but it really depends how casual it’s going to be…..I certainly will have tons of things to take on the trip….what month?

      1. Charrie

Hi Louis, Well ..it’s in Volos(on East side) in June! I would say semi formal, men may/may not wear suits. Sky’s the limit for women!but I’ll go short or long, not fussy..elegant, maybe. Let us know if you’ll be visiting your friends next June! I am going to try to decide which things to order now.. an impossibly impossible task with all the choices you give us. You are an artist for sure! Love it ALL! charrie

  37. Ri

    Hi Louis

    Writing from coastal Stamford!

I am in love with your new coat for October – saw some pieces at L&T yesterday that weren’t as nice and much higher priced!

I will keep checking the QVC site for its availability.

    Can’t wait!

    Ri

  38. Carmille

Louis, can you advise if the waist wittling sweater in the dark teal will go with the new jacket coming in the dark teal, violet and topaz? Just want to know if I should be picking it up now:))) Thanks! Just love your work!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The dark teal WWS is deeper than the teal jacket….they are the same color but the jacket is lighter and brighter. The darl teal sweater does look wonderful under the violet and topaz jackets too……with the right accessories to put it all together it will look fabulous.

  39. DeLois

Hi Louis…. I have been a fan of yours for many many years….(I am 81) and still love fashion. I am told that I look much younger than my years and I try to think young… I used to pore over the magazines of your designs and at that time I made all of my clothing and my two daughters as well and some for son and husband. I have a design degree in college, but took all of the advanced sewing classes except draping, which I rue to this day. I have sewn and or knit just about everything there is to do. My crowning achievement was my daughters victorian wedding gown in the 80’s with appliqued lace all over english netting and hand sewn beads. I estimate 15 ot 20 thousand beads…(the whole family was beading lace) and then the lace was hand applied
…….this was not my most difficult sewing project but the most time consuming and rewarding. I remember cutting out a picture of yours of a dark green outfit and the most gorgeous earrings which I had to have. A very large rectangle of green stone with about a 1/4 in gold border around. Do you remember those???? Very large 80’s earrings. To get to the point I so enjoy being able to actually purchase your clothing designs on QVC and my sewing generally is in the alteration department, which I am very happy that I can do for myself……… Thanks Louis

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

DeLois…….You are proof that age is only a number….it’s how you feel that counts. Your daughters wedding dress sounds incredible….what an undertaking and what pressure! I do remember the earring very well, as a matter of fact I have them. That earring was the inspiration for the top of the Baroque earring, the one with the interchangeable drops. The Byzantine group of jewelry I did for QVC was all part of the group I did for Anne Klein which that earring was a part of.

      1. DeLois

Louis, I have the new baroque drop earring as well as the cross and long necklace. The earrings are in guess what…….green!

  40. Judy

You show black and red solid scarves in your October sneak peek pictures. Will they be available in your Oct show?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No, I will not be selling them. They are part of my personal accessory collection for my archives. The only scarf we will be selling is the Hounds Tooth Check in the two colors.

  41. Dineyj46

In the October sneak peek what is the solid purple jacket? Is that something you showed in the past or is it new? Will that jacket be in the October show ?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

That is a brand new jacket! and will be a future sneak peek. It will be on the same Oct show as the HTC pieces and there are two additional colors!!!

  42. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes….if you have been pleased, in general, with the way things have been fitting you then I see no reason to change. We ALWAYS fit on the same fitting models. One is a generous small, and the other is a 1X, so there is consistency in who we fit. Of course everyone’s body is different and the closer you are to the fitting model, the better the cloths will fit. There are also guide lines as far as measurements go, given by QVC that must be followed. The items you have mentioned are running true…..so order what you normally would.

  43. Elysee

I am in love with the new houndstooth pieces, and the pink and black coats. Your advice would be to go with our typical sizing?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Absolutely…….they are running very true to Linea sizing. I would not size up or down, but always check your click here measurements. One thing…..when it comes to knits, as in sweaters, the click here measurements may be smaller than you would buy in a woven garment…..that is because there is much more stretch in a sweater knit. In general, keep to your normal size or it will be too big.

  44. Pat

Louis I am loving your October items but cannot wear anything with even a small percent of wool or I turn into Miss rash… That leaves me unable to buy the pink coat sniff..sniff..the houndstooth jacket….boohssss…sniffle . Is the houndstooth scarf made from the same wool blend?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pat, All three pieces are made out of the same fabric, so yes there is wool min the scarf.

  45. liz

Hello Louis,After quite a snafu with the order for the wk pants,my complete order is here.I just wanted to let you know how perfect all of the pieces are.My 82 yr old Mother lives net door.she set a new speed record across the lawn when she saw UPS pull up.She is quite the fashionista! We both had a fabulous time trying in our new things. Can not wait for the pink coat. Thanks again,Liz

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Miracle of miracles!!! You received everything….and…you LIKE everything… LOL…..I don’t know your mother, but I can tell just from what you said here…..I love her. My mother was a fashionista too. She passed when she was 96 years young. She loved to boast that she never wore pants…..only short pencil skirts, because she had such great legs. Well, that wasn’t quite true….she did wear pants on rare occasions….like in a snow storm! What was true….she did have great legs!!…..not a mark not a vein, slender and long…..she was quite something!

  46. Trish

Swoon… The jackets are beautiful. I don’t wear many in CA. Are they heavy weight, or could I get some use out of them when it’s cold (50*) in CA?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Trish…what do you wear now when it’s 50 degrees? O)n the east coat that would be balmy.

  47. Toni Fisher

WK mock neck is the VERY best. Lifted my Boykin Spaniel out of my Rav and her rabies metal tag ring got caught on my mock neck – I was petrified and SCARED to look down. I gently removed the ring from the sweater and refused to look until I got in the house. GUESS WHAT – NOT A MARK, NOT A STRETCH, NOT A THREAD OUT OF PLACE. Is this the best fabric in the world? Only YOU, Louis, could design such a fabric.

  48. Carol Marino

Hi Louis. Looking for your fabulous Whisper knit turtleneck in Black which is sold out in my size. Also in new colors. Is there a reorder in the works I hope?? I have a few and I absolutely love them. We need more. Your clothing is amazing! Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes, many colors are coming back, including Black, for the Oct. 19th show. I would think because this is a reorder, and they usually don’t hold reorder quantities back, that they will be avail. a few days before the show….but just guessing.

  49. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

The latter is correct. This particular style collar caught my eye during Fall Fashion Week 2012 – possibly R.Lauren? I think a rounded collar would soften the look of my new Linea Tweeds for casual Business attire (we’re pretty laid-back in AK)yet, I do enjoy a certain amount of polish!

    Thanks Louis.

p.s. A Big ‘WoW’ to the sneak peek coat – A ‘Must Have’ in Black!

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

$898 for a cotton shirt! Even I think that is outrageous. Ralph lives very well and has 5 or 6 homes to take care of……so I guess he has to charge that much for a COTTON POPLIN SHIRT!I bet it wrinkles too….LOL

        1. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

Yes – that’s the collar design that I most wish for! A 3-4 button cuff design would be wonderful too! To wear long – or turned up for a folded look to accent with braclets (sorta built-in button adjustment for ladies with shorter arms)! I have average arm length, but wouldn’t that be a Win/Win? Never really cared for french cuffs requiring links – limited in styling IMHO.
Lastly, white is a must & a ‘barely’, ever so faint – light, light Blue looks so chic with Blacks & Browns & Grays in my book. I’ll keep dreaming. Love Linea cotton stretch!

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’ll see what I can do….but it will have to wait until next fall.

            1. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

              Thank you!

        2. Gail

Good one, Louis. As for the buyers of such a shirt, it’s a status symbol to some to pay a high price for
an item. I like finding well made things for a reasonable price. Shopping is a treasure hunt for me. To me,
your line is a treasure hunter’s heaven.

  50. NaturalBornWoman - Pamela in Anchorage

    Dear Louis,

Would you consider designing a classic button-up with a stand, ‘Rounded’ collar with a unique cuff in your lovely cotton stretch (i.e. The Kate shirt)? In classic ‘White’ & perhaps an ‘Ice’ (soft) Baby Blue? I think it would be a great look with some of my favorite Linea jackets & blazers. Plus, a rounded collar would be an excellent frame to showcase many A favorite Vintage Art Deco jewel – (pins & brooches)worn @ center collar. Anxious for the Oct. Show. Many thanks.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear NBW….I’m not sure if I understand your request. Are you asking for a shirt with a rounder cornered stand color, or a shirt with a classic stand and a collar which is rounded instead of pointed. Sort of like a mens “turn of the century” collar……I think the latter is what you mean, but I want to make sure. I can see it with an Art Deco pin nested under the collar, pinned to the stand…..is that correct?

  51. Judi

    Hi Louis,
I haven’t written in a while, but I must tell you that I feel as though my wardrobe (and me!) has undergone a complete makeover.
Fall seems to be here, and I couldn’t be happier that I have so many of your exquisite items in my closet. It’s not a matter of “I have nothing to wear”, it’s now “I have so many wonderful things to wear, it’s difficult to choose!” What a problem!
The tweed, the plaid jacket, the whisper knits (I was lucky to get all of them), the drawstring pants, feather prints, chili pepper items…everything is wonderful.
I hesitated to buy the medallion cardi thinking it might be too busy, I should never second guess you…I’ve worn it so many times already, with black of course, and aubergine. I love it and I’ve been complimented on it many times.
I have a few questions, if you don’t mind:
Will you design any whisper knit tops in prints?
Will there be a short sleeve whisper knit in olive? I’ve worn out my olive short sleeve sweater (not wk)? I’m afraid olive is a thing of the past, but I have so many olive garments…I’m hoping!
Somone once mentioned a hoodie in cashmere. Sounds wonderful, but I wonder if it would be possible to do a hoodie in a whisper knit to match the drawstring pants?
Thanks so much, and be sure give my regards to Jac.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judi…..What a great message. I couldn’t be happier that you are so happy with your clothing! Now for your questions.
1-The sweater factory that produces the WK, does not do any printing so there will be no prints on WK.
2-I do not have any plans for more Olive sweaters in the near future. The A217630, olive WK short sleeve mock neck is avail in all sizes, and the A3825, Pale Olive crew neck short sleeve sweater is also avail. For now, that’s it.
3-Hoodies in all of the above would be great, but in order to really get a hoody to match the drawstring pants, it would have to be in the same ponte knit, which is also a possibility.
Enjoy fall and wearing all of your Lineas…..wait until you see what’s coming in Oct!

      1. Judi

        Good morning!
        Thanks for the quick reply.
I love WK, it’s too bad it can’t be done in a print, but I’ll be buying your lovely prints in other fabrications. BTW, the tie dye cardi, hydrangea and chain prints, nautical d/b jackets were a big hit in New England this summer!

I already own the olive mock and the pale olive s/s. They are lovely, I was hoping for a tank/shell/short sleeve for the olive paisley boho. Maybe one will pop up on eBay (I can’t be proud)!

IMO, hoodies done by you would be a perfect, elegant, yet very casual look.

  52. Susan (aka CarlyTwila)

    Hi Louis –
Is there nickel in the new gunmetal watch? I know you’ve checked on the gold-plated jewelry in the past – just wondering about the watches now.
    Thanks –
    Susan

  53. Carol in FL

    Hi Louis,

Love the tweed jacket and whisper knit pants–perfection.

I wrote down that you’ll be on QVC again on October 19 at 4:00 p.m. and October 30 at 4:00 a.m. When will you be on in November???

Thank you. Have a great week!

    Carol

  54. Pat

    Hi Louis,

I would love to see some longer sweaters, jackets or dusters…Do you have anything like this coming?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

How long do you mean for the sweaters? No dusters planned yet. Maybe….it depends on what the buyers choose.

      1. Pat

Duster length in a sweater or a sweater vest some thing around 34 to 40″ long would be nice especially in something to match the whisper knit pants from last month

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Actually, I did exactly what you have just asked for when I did the original WK pant. I am sure some of the ladies still own the loooong cardigan. It was slightly shaped and had one button. It did not do that well, but that was before EVERYONE fell in love with WK.

  55. Patricia

Louis, I love your tweed blazers. However the walnut seems more vibrant on me. Would it be a fashion faux-paux to wear the walnut blazer with the tarragon blouse and pants? Thanks for your reply.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Patricia…..I would really like to say yes, because I always say you should mix and match….but….I tried it with my samples and I did not love them together. The tarragon looks great with the tarragon tweed because the tweed is paler and the contrast looks good also the colors are very compatible and were meant to go together. However, I much prefer the walnut tweed with walnut bottoms and stronger colors under it. Of course, the persimmon looks great, but aubergine and other stronger colors also look good with the walnut. The tarragon looks a little washed out to me under the walnut.

      1. Patricia

Thank you so much. i am glad I have both blazers. I have bought so many of your clothes! I am truly addicted. I just can not help myself.Ha! And by the way I remember the movie: The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie– a great movie.i remember the song too. My very best to you and your lovely wife.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

I was so shocked that no one had ever heard of that movie! OK, it was 30 years ago…maybe….but Maggie Smith just won an Emmy for Downton Abbey [SP]. I’ve seen “Gone With the Wind” a dozen times, but I certainly wasn’t born when that came out in 1939 or “Casablanca” or a thousand movies that were made before my time. My trainer at the gym didn’t even know who Patti Labelle was….forget Clark Gable, Errol Flynn or Humphrey Bogart and he’s 30 years old. Really, I think too many people live under rocks…..of course the other side of it is….he will rattle off the names of all of these contemporary music groups, and I have never heard of one of them….Frank Sinatra is still my favorite singer LOL

          1. Patricia

Yes, Louis. I know exactly what you mean. Those old movies and those wonderful actors such as those you mentionned can not be beat. I agree. It seems too many people live under the rocks, Those movies had a great story and the acting was pure class. I guess you can tell what age group I am in but I love it! LOL

  56. Yvonne Shafer (2greys)

Good morning Louis! Everything I ordered from the last show is exquisite! Love the tweed jackets, tie-neck blouses, sweaters, and, of course, the WK pants! Perfection! My fall wardrobe has never looked better and I thank you! I’m looking forward to the October show and the unveiling of the WK essentials line! Thanks again. — 2greys

  57. Chris/Jazzmom

    Welcome back Louis!!
I am thrilled with all my WK pieces, and I have one question– will there be print tops coming to coordinate with these solid colors that you presented?? I would love to see a few tarragon, deep teal, grape and walnut print items coming down the road.
    Enjoy the weekend,
    Chris

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Chris…..I don’t believe I mentioned BLACK….are you trying to weasel information out of me???LOL Actually there will be white but no black…and one more BRIGHT fun color!

      1. enjay

No black??!! Louis, the Hudson just started overflowing its banks. What are you trying to do to us New Yorkers … get us to wear color?! Oh the horror! 🙂

(By the way, I just love my new pieces: tarragon tweed, luscious leather and that fab little paisley cardi – that one is a real sleeper. Beautiful Fall collection (and I got the black WK pants and tunic, too, so I’ve had my black fix!)

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Believe it or not the black denim was the least successful. The Inigo and white blew out but not the black. I don’t know if it was because it wasn’t a solid black. I liked the fact that it had a slight black white effect, but I guess I was in the minority. If it were solid black it would have looked like any other black cotton instead of a denim effect.

          1. Chris/Jazzmom

I loved the black denim (blazer and pants), wore it to an Arbor Day festival where the Master Gardeners were set up to answer garden questions and with my red blouse (Cornell red color) underneath and my badge, I looked very ‘professional’ and people were stopping me to ask me questions when I left the booth.

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Chris….there are always things coming down the road….for Oct. I will have two printed stretch velvet pieces, a V-neck top and a long skirt that will coordinate with the tweeds, WK pants and NEW FABULOUS solid color pieces that I will be showing. The velvet looks great with the tweeds thye mix of textures and patterns looks very designer and very expensive.

  58. Susan (aka CarlyTwila)

Charrie and I had several hours at a baseball game to catch up and compare notes from our September orders. We both think your sneak peek program is the best thing since sliced bread. Between this and the click here measurements I have been able to completely avoid having to send things back. I know it takes a lot of work to set up the views, take pictures, post, and write about the various ways to combine things, and I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your efforts. Charrie came up with an amazing combo – she wore the olive butterfly sweater with the tarragon tweed jacket. It looks great!
Again – thanks for all you do!
    Susan

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Susan it’s great to hear from you. It’s hard to believe it’s almost a year since I have seen you. Tell Charrie I said hello, and that I love the way she plays and mixes the clothes…….Louis

  59. LauraL

    Dear Louis,

I just had to let you know that I got back from my latest trip to Germany to receive the items from the last show. Managed due to the time difference to watch the show live from the hotel. I ordered 18 items all prior to the show. I love every piece – nothing is going back.

The tweed jacket in both colors are wonderful. As are the 3 tie blouses. Of course I am very happy with the new colors in the WK sweaters and had to restock some of the returning favorites.

I love the WK pants although I have only received those in Tarragon. The walnut (PM) is on backorder (Argh) and the black (PM) is on waitlist. Hopefully I will get them. I just wish QVC will get its act together soon and deal with its warehouse issues. Not very happy with how the consumer is being treated. Just an email saying they are out of stock and if they can’t acquire more they will send an email letting me know they have cancelled my order.

Looking forward to the show in October. Not sure what sneak peaks will tempt me other than I already know the houndstooth is coming my way.

    Your Travelling Lady
    Laura

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear LauraL….I’m sure you had wonderful trip even though traveling these days can be a little trying. SO HAPPY you loved all of your 18 pieces. Aren’t the shirts wonderful and they are going to look so wonderful with the HTCs coming in Oct………regards, Louis

      1. LauraL

You are correct – the shirts are great. I was glad I ordered all 3 colors. I have been trying to limit multiples of the same item but these are such basics. And of course I couldn’t resist both tweeds. They are distinctive enough between the two colorations. I am such a tweed girl. You can mix and match them with so many things that I convinced myself I really “needed” both.

I am absolutely loving this fall collection.

I also want to say how much I appreciate you taking the time to do the sneak peaks and answer our questions. With my travel schedule it is usally impossible to watch your shows live (I always record for later) and if I waited I would be out of luck. This way I have a good feel for whether the garment is a good fit for my body type and lifestyle that it has really limited my returns.

My only problem is my lack of closet space LOL.

  60. Sherry

    Welcome back online….

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Woke up this morning to see “Ask Louis” messages…..it’s all a mystery to be….one day they are gone and the next they are back. I think :Ask Louis” decided to take a vacation…LOL

  61. Inna (joinki)

Dear Louis…. you made my day!!!
I just received (5 min ago) the black leather/knit jacket and it’s TDF!!! The quality is superb, the fit is perfect, and the smell is divine. I also very happy with the WK pants. I was able to order at midnight the last 2 pairs of black pants in size XXS regular length, and 1 pair of walnut pants (they’re perfect in every way). I wanted to order more, but there was none left in my size at midnight.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Don’t give up hope on the WK pant…..I’m sure there will be returns.

  62. Jean

Louis, this request might be sort of not in your design aesthetics, but I’m writing because you are the only designer on QVC who makes a sleeve long enough for me at 5’10” small and provides a true fitted look. I’m so tired of seeing all the oversized, bulky, boyfriend, tunic design fashions of late. I’m definitely not buying them. So I was thrilled when I discovered your Linea line a couple months ago.

Anyhow, if you ever come out with a fitted…. yes, fitted denim long-sleeve shirt with snaps in two or three denim shades, I’ll be all over that. I know you like to coordinate everything in a single release date, but this could be a standalone item.

Just wishful thinking on my part. I’ll be watching for your shows in Oct. and Nov. and, no doubt, loving what you do release. See you then. —Jean

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Jean……..finding the right quality fabric is the problem, and getting the buyer to order enough quantity that the fabric mills demand is another. However, many have asked for a denim pencil skirt to match the back peplum jacket of last spring…..and that is coming!

      1. LauraL

        Hi

I am very happy to hear that the denim pencil skirt is coming next year.

        Laura

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

There were so many requests for this skirt I had to get it in somehow. Since this is a “Washed” denim and I am repeating the same Indigo color from last spring, I am hoping they will match, but no guarantees.

          1. Chris/Jazzmom

So there will be a matching black and indigo denim pencil skirt to the blazers from this spring but no white denim pencil skirt coming?

  63. Pat

    Louis,

Will you have any whisper knits in October that are v neck, u, neck or cowl neck? I love Your whisper knits…but not a turtle or mock neck wearer.

    Thanks,
    Pat

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pat…..I do but you will have to wait until Nov. That is when my new “Essential Whisper Knit Program” will be avail. There are v-neck tanks and V-neck short sleeve sweaters plus a U-neck, or scoop neck short sleeve sweater too. There are other styles too, including the return of the classic V-neck cardigan and the new Kimono cardigan. You will be able to mix and match your cardis with the layering pieces. They will probably be on line towards the end of Nov.

      1. Pat

Ohhhh Santa Baby…I know what is going to be on my list this year …

      2. Pat

Louis..I just re-read this post again..my heart be still does “Essential Whisper Knit program” mean that QVC will have quantities of your wonderful whisper knits available to meet you customer demands???

QVC usually uses the term essentials for items we want to buy every day…..wishful thinking

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pat……all I can say is I design then and my manufacturer produces them. Whether QVC orders sufficient quantity to meet the demand, I can not answer.

      3. Sherry

Just what I’ve been waiting on, birthday is the end of November…lucky me. Birthday and Christmas all at one time. Just love the WK sweaters. Not too hot to wear layered inside, but warm enough when layered with a jacket for outside.

      4. Connie

Woo hoo! V-neck & scoop neck short sleeve whisper knits! Perfect for those of us in warmer climates!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

AND two sleeveless styles that will be great for light layering or worn on their own if you want to show your arms.

  64. Jane

    Louis,
Last night, I tried on the tarragon WK pants on with the A217983 tarragon cardigan. I was just so pleased with how they looked together. As a plus size lady, I don’t often get to feel slim, but this outfit — the color, the style, and the fit — just made me look and feel slimmer. What a wonderful surprise! Thank you!

Yes, the 2x tarragon pants are definitely in that box with the small blacks that has been waylaid. The 2x tarragon showed Sold Out at midnight also. I settled for the 1X and because the whisper knit is so forgiving they fit beautifully.

I also had differing lengths in my 3 colors: 30 1/2, 32, and 34 inches.

Many thanks for giving me a WOW look.

    Jane

  65. margo ducne windsor

    Pat,

I just copy and posted your letter to QVC. I hope many others follow.

    Cheers,

    Margo
