Louis, on your request for input on color I would agree with the others on neutrals. We had a wonderful array of color in the Spring 2013 collection of whisperknit and feather jersey. I would like some spring neutrals that can be a foundation pieces for combining with other Linea items and your wonderful jewelry (and scarves–PLEASE bring us Linea scarves!!) Navy, Ivory, Beige, Grey, Taupe, and even muted pastels.
Thank you for askign for input. And as always, thankyou for the wonderful fashions!
Thought you’d want to know: my navy pearls were not strung properly; I called the Q and they very promptly replaced them with perfectly strung ones.Beautiful color.
Thanks Andrea, I hope you returned them as “defective” so they don’t get shipped out again…..were they too tight causing them not to hang straight?
Yes I called first, described the problem, which was just the opposite of what you suspect. They were so loosely knotted that I could slide the pearls back and forth. The CS woman checked and said yes they are supposed to be knotted and sent a replacement that hang perfectly. I’ve found one should call ahead and describe the problem. A notation is made on your account.
Also, she said they were going fast and I told her the blue were gorgeous. She said she was going to buy them herself then.
I have the white ones and they are beautifully knotted.
Louis, on your request for colors: A233182 and A233182-“Semolina”, (Pantone 15-1218). I have the jacket in limoges blue and love the color and fit. I’d also like to see this in medium grey, sort of a sweatshirt effect to wear with white and other summer pales. For the boho, I’d love a chambray or some variation of denim blue.
Hi Gail and Louis,
I also was thinking of a true kaki or semolina would be great– even the camel for spring would be great. I too have them in black– love love love fit and material… I too like to denim! maybe a “worn” or faded look..
debbie
Louis,
Your shows were fantastic, informative, well planned and showed your talents.
Love the ottomon jacket. Bought matching skirt in Medium. Not a skirt wearer,
Have your capris in Small. Think the skirt is stretchy and not sure if I should size down. Your opinion?
Love the fushia cowl neck also.
Please bring the A233187 assymetrical top back in Black & maybe navy or grey – thanx
I think you should get the ottoman skirt in small.
Hi Louis,
Wanted to let you know I have received A236147 Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Petite Fly Front Slim Leg Pants in black. I absolutely love them. I have now waitlisted the Caviar and the Camel. It is really nice to have a slim leg pant still work with my curvy hips.
I will post a review on QVC but wanted to let you know how happy I am with the fit of the pant.
Also received my orders for the V-neck in the new colors and the fly front blouse in the new colors. Perfect as always. I have now ordered the new colors in the original waist whittling sweater that were loaded last night.
One purchase that didn’t work for me (I’m too short waisted) was the new cardiagn. Would really love it if next season you could do a more classic cardigan in the ivory.
Thanks
Laura
Dear Laura…..happy to hear that you liked the pant….i always keep my fingers crossed when it comes to pants. They are the hardest thing to please everyone with…..especially when they aren’t pull-ons. Help me to understand why the cardigan doesn’t work for you. What does being short waisted have to do with a cardigan that hangs straight down? If you have the matching tank under it, no one knows where your waist is. Your explanation will be very helpful to me.
Hi
The shoulders fit fine so I know I have the correct size of small but there seems to be either too much material in width (cascade) and/or too long so it is overwhelming on me. It ends up hitting me mid-thigh and just doesn’t seem to hang right. I have and love some of your other cardigans but they are a little shorter and have less width for example A233940, A217983, A233856 etc.
I am considering shortening it too hit at high/mid hip but not sure if that would help. Do you think that would help?
I am short (5′ 0″) but very short waisted – no space between ribs ending and hip bone starting (i.e. .5″) so have long legs for my height (28.5″ inseam). I have a fairly curvy shape – broad shoulders (need medium in woven shirts), medium chest (34C), waist 30, hips 42. So the contrast between waist and hips is very pronounced.
Hope my explanation helps and doesn’t confuse.
Also this is the best fitting pant in numerical sizes that I have received. I had almost given up on the numerical sized pants as they are usually too straight up and down for me. The SML sizing tended to work better for me even when not pull on as it tended to fit my curvy shape better.
So I for one am hoping more pants come in this silhouette.
Dear Laura, if you feel overwhelmed in it…send it BACK!….there will be plenty of other things to choose from. For you to start trying to “make it work” for you is silly. It either does or doesn’t. It shouldn’t be so hard. You should put a garment on and say ‘this is good” other wise bye bye. Really send it back and wait for a better option.
Forgive me if off topic, but since the Feather Jerseys were mentioned, I picked up a pair of Eileen Fisher wedges at Neiman’s Last Call which are a dead-on match to the nectar (nectarine color). They are on sale now, and are beautiful, and very comfortable. Take a look at them. I think they retailed at $250..I paid $62!!!! Such a deal!
Dear Ellen…..all info is welcome….I am sure the ladies who chose NECTAR, one of my favorite colors, would love this info.
Hi Connie…the grey ottoman jacket is gorgeous as well. Since I will not be wearing with skirts, you can dress these up or down with jeans, dress pants or boots and leggings. The material is so stretchy and comfortable…structured, but unstructured, if that makes any sense. I love both colors. I hope you are able to pick them up.
After enormous internal debate, I ended up putting the majority of my fashion budget this time on the seamed asymmetrical jacket. Black and Caviar have now arrived and Camel is shipping. I had to pop on today to tell you that you were certainly right about this jacket being a collector’s item. I love the cut, look and fit and how it artfully chisels my body when it is on me. It is gorgeous open or shut as you said. I LOVE the way the collar frames the face. It reminds me a LOT of another jacket I have loved and hoped you would repeat – A217979 the riding jacket with contrast collar and the way those FOUR front buttons cause the same face framing at the collar to occur. A dream on the plus size body! I’m loving all my new pencil skirts and have to throw in here that I felt compelled to go backwards and get 2 more colors of the dolman feather jersey top. I have been so thrilled with how the Lime, the Nectar, and the Aqua play off the colors in the floral tiered maxi from a year ago and how casual chic the fabric looks and how comfy they are. No-brainers make me happy. Throw and go 🙂 [Will post review when the camel gets here :)] Thanks, as always Louis!
Dear Nancy…..I am so happy to hear you are enjoying your feather jersey top. That fabric was getting such a bad rap, honestly I didn’t understand it…..especially after the Hawaiian print maxi sold out TWICE….that was the reason I did a group in this fabric. Some felt it would be hot, clingy and itchy…..non of which is true. I think the itchy issue is only with the TIE DYE dress. I don’t think it’s the dress fabric, but some may be sensitive to the lining….. others have no complaint and the lining isn’t an issue. I’m glad you love your new jackets! Did you get the matching pant? Isn’t this fabric wonderful.
Honestly I didn’t get the matching pant. I’m not much of a pant suit girl but I HAVE thought about going back and revisiting the issue – assuming any get returned 😉 – on this particular pant and fabric. I find it extremely hard to get the fit right. And in that same vein, I was thinking the other day how far I have moved out of my comfort zone over the years because of the high trust level I have in your expertise and skill. Further, I know you never lie to us in the online presentations or in what you say here – just to “sell.” Because of you I kept trying out the feather jersey – until I found I loved it! 3 tanks, 4 cowls and 3 dolmans later 🙂 I moved into jewel tones and now can’t get enough. I moved into sleeveless tops (for under jackets) like mock necks and now could use a closet full in any color of the rainbow. I moved into those fiesta colors and now I’m crazy for them. I took the leap on the waist whittler – and got 4 of the new WK colors and they are fantastic. You are the only man I would trust to make me a pencil skirt that looks and feels fabulous – (all of the new ones and a lot of the older acrylic/wool ones). I could go on and on … My only hold out is the pant – can’t quite psych out what measurements will actually work for me and end up either altering like crazy or sending back. I’ll keep ruminating on that one…
Dear Nancy…..maybe we can work this out together, but I need info. First what pant from QVC have you had success with, fit and style wise? What height and size are you? what is you bottom shape….small waist, big hips and thighs, big waist big hips and thighs….etc etc…….Personally I think a “slim leg pant is the most flattering…..now I’m not talking skinny, just slim. Larger women who are short should never wear wide leg pants or maxi skirts, they only make them look shorter and wider. If you’re tall you can get away with more. Slim leg pants should never break on the foot….that defeats the long line you want….a matching or tonal shoe is the best, but they are not always avail in your show wardrobe…..shoe boots help to keep the line.
I fully realize the fantastic opportunity you have just extended so: throwing all modesty to the winds – here goes.
A53351 – D & C denim slim leg pant. I can pretty much pull on from the package and go. I much prefer a slimmer leg pant at all times. I carry off the tiered maxi skirt just fine but never tuck tops into the skirt waistband.
Height: 5′ 7 1/4″
Normal size in Linea: 3X for jackets and tops (though sometimes 2X as in the dolman feather jersey)
In skirts I am usually a Linea 2X – which is what I got the WK pencils in. I’m pretty much your standard hour-glass
Bust: 54
Waist 48
Hips: 54 (7 inches down from waistline)
Lower hip: 48 (9 inches down from normal waistline)
Thigh 1 inch down from crotch: 30
The only structured Linea pant which I have kept is A229472 in size 26W – and it awaits me in the sewing room to take the leg up 2 1/4 inches.
I always wear my pants at the normal waistline – not below.
Hope that’s enough info to help me feel my way to what size I should TRY for greatest potential to fit. I’m afraid this posting and your possible reply will disappear from the Ask Louis page before you get a chance to respond and I get a chance to see your answer. If that happens, I’ll repost this response under Ask Louis again – does that sound sensible?
I have forwarded your comments to my Pattern makers to get their suggestions….they will know best what will work or not work….they know all the measurements of the clothes.
Wow, that was extremely kind and made my day!!! How will you share with me what you learned once this exchange disappears from the Ask Louis page? It seems to renew itself fairly often and drops off all the older posts.
Dear Nancy…………..my fit team said they would recommend the 26 or the 3x for pants. I realize that’s pretty general, but with the measurements given that would be their recommendation. I guess you’ll just have to try a pair and see how it works out. I do recommend a slim leg….that does not mean a slim fit. Our plus pant is fit on a plus model, not a missy model and then graded up to a plus…..it does make a difference.
Speaking for myself only, in the Tie Dye Dress, it’s definity the lining that’s the culprit, especially in the bodice and at the waist seam, and my dress is not at all tight … just not comfortable; for me the doubled fabrics make it uncomfortable. Now my Hawaiian print dress, all 3 watercolor dresses and more … they’re all traveling with me in New Mexico, LOVE them all and thinking of picking up a few extra FJ pieces and would absolutely buy new pieces!
Louis, The bad rap on the Feather Jersey was started by a group of women before anyone had even received it or seen it for themselves. There were even reviews posted and accepted by women who had not bought it. Not only were there threads specifically about the Feather Jersey, and their hatred of it, but this same animus was woven into thread after thread which weren’t even about the Feather Jersey. Why would someone do this? And why would this tirade continue after women started receiving it and expressing their pleasure with it? It’s hard for me to understand. And was the reason I stopped posting on the QVC Linea board for a period of time. As did others. It was just too toxic for me to want to spend time there. I bought three pieces of the Feather Jersey, took them to Jamaica with me, and was thoroughly happy with them. As you know,I have both an academic and professional history of very high end textiles spanning many years. If someone doesn’t favor something, well and good. But why anyone would set out to sabotage a product is beyond me. OG absolutely loves my berry tunic and pants on me :-).
Hi there! Someone in my Facebook group shared this site with us so
I came to take a look. I’m definitely loving the
information. I’m bookmarking and will be tweeting this to my followers!
Outstanding blog and fantastic style and design.
Thank you for telling me to stay in the s for the long sleeved scoop neck top (not the peasant.)I got that and the matching malachite skirt. Malachite is truly the right name. I collect it and my necklaces fill the scoop beautifully.
I heard you make a reference to a “Jean Brodie” length. I just watched the movie on TCM and her clothes truly defined her. What is the length you mean and do you have any other comments.I’m sorry I erased the movie. I’m short, but long waisted and that length in a monochromatic color really works. Saving my shekels for one of the sheath dresses. Does the spruce have a bluish tone?
Agree about this summer’s movies: add the alien ones to the made for teenage boy ones.
Started a HOW ABOUT LINEA TIGHTS post on QVC. So MANY women agreed that they would absolutely love tights especially in your special colors. I will also call customer service tomorrow with that suggestion and see if they’ll give me the name of the Linea buyer so that I may share it with the Linea ladies. Any other suggestions? So many have said a Linea/Legacy team makes so much sense
Hi louis,
Will there be more styles in the camel silk/cashmere other than the turtle neck?
thank you
Yes
thank you
Louis
Will you be doing any more pieces in the topaz color in the ponte knit
No, I am finished with topaz for the season.
Hi Louis, My packages have started coming in…the leather and knit burgundy and today the camel and the black A236145 (asymmetrical zip jackets) so handsome and even better in person.
Will we get sneak peeks of your Sept. 9th offerings? I hope plural (:
And more leather please…As Kate said $180 to
$250 is not a big leap and still VERY VERY reasonable for the quality and style.
I loved it when you said that you would know your Linea ladies if you met them
on the street…so sweet.
Louis…I bought all 3 of the asymmetrical suits, which are beautiful. But, the stunner of my entire haul is the black ottoman jacket. It is so sophisticated, so well-made and so stinkin’ beautiful! I just cannot believe it. I am not a skirt person, but I will wear it with black pants, black leggings and boots…anything. I also got the grey ottoman jacket, but have not tried it on yet. There are just too many other treasures to look at. Oh, let me not forget that root beer and gunmetal necklace…ridiculous…are you kidding me?? Thanks, again, for everything you do for us.
The rootbeer and gun metal necklace is to die for but all of LDO’s jewelry is fabulous.
I’m jealous Ellen (: I missed the black but did get the green and after
reading your post I can’t wait to get it.
Louis,
I am in love…with you and your wonderful designs. I love the way you coordinate your ensembles (something I am not good at)!! I have not made my purchases as of yet but have my shopping cart ready to push the button. Thank you for thinking of plus size women and keeping it classy…you sexy beast you!! LOL
Dear Louis,
Have you and Jac seen Blue Jasmine? Cate Blanchett is fabulous in the role of Jasmine and her clothing is beyond belief. She wears a white wool boucle jacket (Chanel) with jeans that reminds me of your beautiful jackets. Of course, she is dripping with pearls when wearing the ensemble!
Yes….we saw it when it first came out….not to much to pick from that is a shoot em up explosion si-fi flick. She was great and is sure to get an Academy Award nomination…..not badly dressed for some one down and out.
Just like Dariann, when I watched the movie, I kept thinking, “How Linea her look is.” Blanchett was fantastic in the role! And elegantly dressed. Louis, her wardrobe, which gave us gave us a peek into her psyche and past life, were so Linea Lady. I loved the way she had her one good purse and Chanel-style jacket (it probably was Chanel, come to think of it).
That white jacket with the black trim was Chanel – the buttons had little ‘C’s on them. The pearls were also Chanel – more little C’s on the chain. I could barely pay attention, I kept shopping her outfits!
Thanks, Mary. I was so caught up in the drama — and observing the reaction to the film of my family — that I failed to notice the signature double “C’s.” You have sharp eyes. The character Cate Blanchett played was quite a case study. So blessed with excellent taste and the perfect physical type to wear such clothing and jewelry. The dentist assessed her correctly as did the future politico.
Dear Louis — Thanks for responding to my questions about “fully fashioned” and tights! The Q & A is now gone from your site, but I wanted you to know that I appreciate your response. My mother is a knitter, so your explanation of “fully fashioned” made a lot of sense. Also, I checked out the Hue website and found a bounty of colored tights. Many thanks!
Louis,
I just noticed on the QVC website that your beautiful pearls are now available on waitlist in mocha mist and driftwood. These hues sound yummy but could you describe them for us and give us some recommendations as to which Linea fashions to pair them with?
Thanks,
Dariann
Dariann,
There was a glimpse of new Pearls on the 11:00pm Show – See Video for item A72448 – Chantal was wearing them with the Mushroom T Neck – Louis explicitly points them out. They looked fabulous.
Seka.
They are for spring in Jan…..they probably won’t be listed for long…..they usually take them down.
I have written my suggestions for QVC under e-mail us suggestions and I have been told it will be forwarded to the right people. I requested more air time, more freedom for you to design and more stock so we have a chance of getting what we want with some thought behind it……… more e-mails from everyone would certainly help……
Louis I want to add my congratulations on the amazing shows and thank you too for the terrific planning and sneak peaks which allow us to plan our shopping sprees! I placed all my orders early and then ordered suede topaz jacket as soon as it was available. Taped the 11:00 show and watched it the next morning. Then UPS arrived and there was the topaz ponte dress as if it had just jumped out of the TV! Packages are still arriving and ALL of the WK’s are terrific. I also have to tell you how your terrific styling saved me from a big mistake. I had a few items ready to take to a consignment shop. Included were the asymmetrical neck jacquard print dress and the shirt jacket in same fabric, both not seeming to go with much else in my closet. As soon as I say you pair that fabric with the new heather ottoman, I quickly rescued the older pieces! Thank you! One question – will the cap sleeve top have sequins all over the fabric or scattered? I am thinking of it to wear with a long evening skirt which I will be making, and my choice of fabric will depend on the amount of decoration on the top. Thank you.
LDO, we talked about this before (!) but what’s up with an all-leather moto-style jacket done to Linea perfection?
I have to leave something for next fall…..we’ll see if they go for it……in leather or it could be very expensive…..the prices have really gone up. If the jackets I am doing now were all leather or suede they would be $250 and over. I know in the scheme of things that is a reasonable price for an all leather jacket in a good quality, but it would eat up a lot of my budget
It seems to me that if one is willing to pay 180.00 for a jacket, 250.00 is not that great a leap. I know this longer view can change when its time to hit the submit order button and commit to a garment, but market research on the forum seems to indicate that customer tolerance for higher prices is there. No one complained at all about 50.00 whisper knit sweaters, and I’m pretty sure that will also be the case for the upcoming, more expensive Posh collection. Anyway, I hope you can make it happen but understand if not!
If I combine it with Knit i have a better chance. Asymmetric jackets tale more leather….I know…but “thems” the facts I have to live with.
I’m putting a vote in for the next leather anything – in the color ‘luggage’. Thanks for all you do, Louis – amazing shows this week! I’m anxiously awaiting my tower.
Yes, several of us have mentioned “luggage”, which in my case I would call “saddle” :-).
Hi, Louis. We’ve been having a discussion on the Q Linea Forum about A91497—your Wool Blend Double Breasted Pea Coat that you did October 2009–it was a whopping “under $80”—LOL! It was done in Black only, as I recall. Would you consider bringing it back in Winter White, Red and Navy? As is—no need to change (even though I need to have the sleeves shortened and the sleeve trim removed and put back on—I’d do it, just to get this jacket in Winter White—heck, I’d crawl across for it!
I love that jacket too. It’s got a very modern edge to it. I did try to have it done again, but they didn’t go for it…..but I’ll try again.
When your new red coat blows out the door, perhaps the Q will see the value of an outerwear collection.
I posted the item number on the Linea Forum and the women are swooning over it—it’s been four years—there are many new Linea buyers in that time—it will be an instant sell out—after this last visit—can they possibly doubt that?!
Sheesh/Sheila
Please try again, that is a great looking Pea coat. I would buy!!! It could even have less wool in it if that would keep the cost down. I would still buy!!!
Louis, wonderful show! I focused this month’s Linea budget on the Ottoman and asymmetrical jackets and, of course, the slim pants. I had to hold on some WK tops in order to swing ordering 4 jackets and 5 pants. I love my slim pants in the olive, fawn and black and wear them so much that I knew I would want to do the same again – order every color in both lengths. Slim pants don’t come along often! But, it means that by time I checked the WK inventory this morning, the cardigan is on waitlist or S/O for all colors in my size. I will of course begin the stalking.
But, just in case, I have in my Linea notes that there will be one other cardi this season. Is this correct? And, will it be in the same colors?
There will be another cardigan in Sept…but it’s in the acrylic wool ENR and in two different colors.
Is that the tunic cardigan with side slits? This would be same type knit as the vest-front cardigan (love these) and your signature pencil skirt?
Did I mention it already????? Yes it’s the tunic cardigan with side slits and it’s a beauty. It is in the ENR like the knit skirt in the acrylic/wool blend. By the way the WK Shawl color sweater and the Surplice sweater are also in the ENR…..some have noticed the difference in the weight compared to other styles.
Will this be my black cardigan that I’m searching for???
No….not yet….but it could be you heather grey one….LOL
Heather grey is good!
Hi Louis,
I received the new WK skirt and like it very much with boots. But it made me wonder if you’ll be bringing us a true “boot skirt” this Fall/Winter. You’ve done these in knit, in the past – longer, gored, fabulous – and they sold out in a flash. Any chance – I hope, I hope?
There will be a wonderful Ponte maxi skirt coming….I believe in Dec…….it can always be shortened if need be.
Hi Louis,
I LOVE your Clothes. I started ordering Sunday night at Midnight. I bought your suede zip front jacket in all three colours. The Ottoman Knit Zip front jacket in three colours, the Asymmetric Zip Front Jacket in all three colours with pants to match. I bought the Knit Dress with pockets in black and three colours of the WK shawl collar sweater. I’m on wait list for your Irregular bead multi strand necklace in both Gold and silver tone.
I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us on Sept 9th.
Cheers,
Margo
Oh, Louis, you worked your magic on me again! Can you tell me what color the pearls were that Chantal was wearing. That combo was incredible with the mushroom—which something I have a lot of thanks to Linea. We’re a greedy as can be, aren’t we. I’m sure you feel like the papa bird with all the chicks peeping for their fixes.
Congrats Louis on the wonderful shows. Six jackets and one blouse later I am so
looking forward to your Sept and Oct offerings. (I’m also addicted Renee lol)
Another thank you for all the work that you put in giving us sneak peeks, my
list was already made before QVC aired anything. Thanks just doesn’t do your
efforts justice but thank you, thank you, thank you.
Congratulations!!!!!! I really enjoyed watching the shows. I’m glad everything sold well, however, I was hoping a few of the items would not have sold out as I was trying to pace my ordering to my budget – not to be unless there are returns or cancellations. No worries though just means I will find other great new pieces in the Sept – Dec shows. I am really looking forward to the new tweeds and checks.
I have just started to receive my new whisper knits and I am one very happy lady.
Question though – for the ruby/ivory skirt to come – which style of top would you recommend?
Laura
Don’t give up hope….in a week or two I bet what you wanted will be avail. There are always some who are disappointed in the way it looks on them or something or other and send it back…..so keep checking.
The paragraph following this one is a copy of a posting I did on the QVC Linea Community. I would encourage everyone else to follow with something similar. Since Monday’s shows were such a resounding success, perhaps QVC will listen to us and permit Louis to do more of what he wants to do and give us even more beautiful things from which to choose. His taste and judgement are impeccable. I hope they are getting that now.
WOW! What a day for Linea by Louis Dell’Olio! Congratulations on selling out JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! I saw two of the shows and they simply were amazing. I hope that QVC will listen to this overwhelming response from QVC customers to Louis’ collections and let him make more items so we can buy them. (The things I wanted to get sold out before I could order them. I particularly hope the black suit with the ruffle collar in a 1X and the other jackets return to stock.) Perhaps QVC will now permit Louis to bring back some of the items his customers have requested and do more accessories and jewelry. If QVC ever had any doubt that Louis has an audience out there of discriminating women who truly appreciate a fresh take on classic, quality constructed garments in beautiful fabrics and colors, yesterday’s show should have wiped away any of those doubts. All I can say is “Give us MORE, MORE, MORE! LOUIS RULES!”
Dear Louis,
I also wanted to add that I truly believe that the collages you do prior to shows go a long way in helping your customers actually being able to see the items being sold. The camera work on the live shows at QVC just do not do the items justice. Ditto that for the tee-tiny little low-resolution pictures of items on QVC’s website. For live shows there needs to be more close-ups so we can actually see the clothes and accessories you and the hosts currently are talking about. I imagine that most of the success of Monday’s show rests with you and the hard work you put into getting those collages together before the items ever appear on the air. Also, I hope that QVC will give you more than an hour next time. Be sure to let us know if there is anything we can do to lobby on your behalf with QVC.
Patti….as a dear friend of mine always says…”it’s good to create a breeze”. If you ladies want another TSV, you are going to have to campaign for it.
Dear Patti….thank you for your vote of confidence.
Or maybe a storm! I assume very careful thought has to go into it. It has to be something the Linea ladies want but has enough popular appeal. And an appealing price. I don’t know why but EZ pay helps.Shoppers have to think they’re beating the regular Q sale.
Perhaps the Linea ladies can make some suggestions.
I’m retired but still buy your clothes, but not suits anymore. Also many workplaces have become very casual;maybe a casual Friday set, with pants and/or a skirt. Your two shows this week were a joy to watch. You know how to sell, so that’s a given. We love hearing about dressing for certain type figure problems, etc.
Maybe your retired shoppers can make some suggestions.
Hi Louis: absolutely FABULOUS shows. Thank you so very much for all you do to allow us to prepare to make and obtain our choices. At the risk of sounding greedy, (which I am, for Linea. No shame there, right?), any idea when the ponte knits may begin to appear?? Soooooo excited, since they fit my lifestyle with the grand kids perfectly, and can go straight to dinner, if they don’t have watermelon stains on the them by evening! Again, many thanks.
Dodie, as soon as I know…..you’ll know. As of now…..no idea.
I want to make a request now for future: can the love knot necklaces in the 4 colors available have matching bracelets with clasps for 7.5″ and 8″ wrists? Maybe make one version to accommodate both wrists?
This might make a nice addition to the jewelry.
Regards,
Chris
Hi
Please don’t forget our smaller wrist fans – i.e. 6.5″ bracelet size.
Regards,
Laura
Dear Laura……..I never forget you, but QVC Orders one size….I guess it’s considered the “standard size”
I can always suggest
Look at a few of Carolyn Pollack’s sterling silver bracelets (J279209, J265180, J279084, J279095 & J311060). Look at the loops where the toggle fits in. Perhaps a 3rd loop could be created for those with the 6.5″ and under wrists? Or have it so that like on a watch an extender is used that can be removed. Maybe the loops can be removed to accommodate the individual wrist sizes without changing the design of the love knots in a row?
Ohhh! And while you are at it, is there any way we could get the love knot earings (the same size as the love knot on the necklaces) for the ladies with small ear lobes? That would be great!
My emails seem to diappear. Don’t know if you saw them. At risk of repeating myself -very excited about the sequin skirt finally to come our way and in RED!
HI BEANO!……sorry if I missed it…..yes in RUBY….an exact match to all the new Ruby WK sweaters and MORE! Now the fabric of the skirt and sequins is exactly like last falls dress in Black and Purple, so it isn’t totally covered in sequins….but they are scattered all over giving a more twinkling effect………..the skirt will also be in Black…………….and LAPIS BLUE to go with all of the Lapis Blue WK sweaters. Did I mention there will also be a cap sleeve V-neck top to match for a two piece dress look?
Hooray! I love that twinkle sequin!
If a sign of addiction is that you think about the next “hit” as soon as the present “hit” is done—then I am addicted to Linea! I just finished buying and already I am marking my calendar for the Sept and Oct dates! OH MY! What a fun week this was! Whisper knits, boucle, suede, necklaces, and more all making their way to me. I have looked at the sneak peaks over and over–and want to say a huge THANKS! for keeping archived peaks available. They help me look for pieces that are sometimes still avaible that I missed. Louis–you are a real treasure. And you make my real woman’s 53 yr old body–complete with a little extra padding here and there–look SO good in every outfit!! So, as we enjoy getting our goodies home and playing dress up mixing and matching with current closet items we will also begin stalking for the next round of wonderful items. Many many thanks to you!
Wow, is right! I pretty much bought everything. And, a big thank you to QVC for their mishandling of my order of the walnut and knit suede jacket. I got a message saying it could not be ordered on-line, only by phone. And so I did…and so the operator got my size wrong and it sold out. Not your problem, Louis. I am sure I will find something (or somethings else). Your collection this fall is dazzling, and we are just beginning. Thank you, thank you for all you do for us. Is there an organization for “Lou-aholics?”
Hi Louis,
You had 2 great shows yesterday. I loved Jac’s booties. Could you ask her the brand please? You mentioned a ruby jacket down the road. Can you tell me when it is coming, I have some ruby whisper knits on order and am hoping they match. There is also a ruby jacket on you sneak peeks, it looked boucle-ish, is that something coming down the road?
Thanks,
Debbie
Hi Debbie….I went and looked in Jac’s shoe…and would you believe they are Anne Klein! No wonder I liked them…..they are probably using my same pattern. She just bought them at Lord & Taylor. Lots of Ruby coming own the road…Th boucle topper will be on a special Designer PM Style on Sept 9th, and the rest will be OCT.
Thank you for getting back to me on the shoes. I went to Lord & Taylor website (don’t have a store near me)and couldn’t find them. I think I found them on the AK website, they are called Caitryn (I hope). Anyway, thanks again for checking, I will be watching for the topper on the 9th.
Will you be restocking missed out on the ottoman jacket and skirt and the whisper knit skirts Great stuff!
Dear debby….there is never any restocking with in the season, you best hope is a return or someone drops it from their cart.
Dear Louis,
Congratulations on a Fantastic shows. I have to thank you for the sneak peaks they are so helpful, I’m looking forward to your future shows.
To Our Hero Louis,
You really outdid yourself this time. I can’t believe how much I bought and from the SOLD out signs everyone else did also.
I only hope QVC realizes this and continues to give you what you deserve. You are a super talent and how well you did
maybe QVC will finally take notice. Congrats again.
One question – This is the first skirt I bought from you. Went with the medium for the Ottomon skirt.
I bought small in your leggings. Does this sound correct?
Dear njlady….that like comparing oranges to grapefruits….they are both fruits but very different…….they are both garments but soooo different. Have you ever bought a regular pant from me….that would be a better comparison to make a judgment? Have you also looked at the garment measurements? I will say, even though it’s a knitted fabric, it has a lot of structure. If you buy med. pants than I would say yes…if you buy small pants that you bought it to big.
Congrats Louis on your outstanding sales on QVC yesterday. You are their No. 1 designer in my opinion. Your designs and fabrics used in your creations are by far the best of any other designer on the Q. I can’t believe it took QVC so long to give you a show in the evening but sales speak volumes. I love all my Linea creations and look forward to adding more to my collection.
Ponte dress arrived yesterday and the fit is pure designer. Love the fabric which seems a bit more hefty than this spring’s drawstring skirt and jacket but really, its all about the dressmaker details on this one. I’ve got some curves and this flatters like no one’s business. Glad I ordered in two colors and will start pitching NOW for navy if this does come back.
I promise to give you at least a week of rest before badgering you for deets on Posh and Ponte!
Absolutely delightful shows Louis—the best ever in my opinion—and Amy and Shawn were great!!! Can’t wait to get my goodies in the mail. One question—Do you have any idea when the reorder of the WK jewel neck tunic in claret and topaz will be available?
Thanks again for a FABULOUS FUN day. You deserve a rest!! Can’t wait for the Sept. shows!!!
I believe….Sept.
Great show Louis……. I imagine it was a challenge at the end when almost everything was sold out and so much time left. I bought more than I should since I am recovering from a dishwasher flood that ruined quite a lot in my kitchen and rec room…..I can’t imagine what your flood was like, as mine has been all I can deal with. I was home too and did not know til I came downstairs at midnight with insomnia. Just a reminder…. Baby sit your dishwasher and other things too. Anxious for my items to arrive…….. Thanks
Amazing Shows! Just a total delight to watch you & Jac! Thank you so much for your sneak peeks as I order from them and then order more during the show when I see pieces on the models and hear your ideas! You are classy and caring!
OVER THE TOP SHOWS! Thank you to you and Jac! And,thank God for your photo SNEAK PEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ditto!!!
WOW Louis & Jac – now THAT was a Fashion Show! Both Shows were fantastic – loved Amy – and Shawn was like a Juggler with many balls in the air and didn’t let even one drop! Sell Out after Sell Out! Thank goodness for the OLO Knit Dress to fill air time – and it too Sold Out! We didn’t even get to see the Suede Jackets presented – GONE!
I peacefully placed my order at Midnight. And then I saw the Morning Show – Monica wearing the Ottoman Jacket – and Jayne & Pat gushing over it – and remembered you had said it was the ‘buy of the century’. Had already ordered it in Heather Gray at Midnight – but then also added the Black.
Thank you for everything that you do to make all of this happen!
Seka.
Monica was a last minute replacement for Anne…..all of the clothes were already pulled and a size to small for Monica, but you have to go with the flow. The ottoman jacket was an XS and she needs a sm.
Wonderful shows, Louis! Thank you! I learn something from you every show — styling tips like pairing red tights with a green dress (great look) and design tips like the secrets of sweater construction. So, two questions: where can I buy red opaque tights? And, what does “fully fashioned” mean in the context of knit sleeves? Thanks again!
Dear TourEiffle………I really don’t expect many women too wear [actually cherry wine] tights, but I want to open women’s minds to other possibilities….whether it be a color or a pattern, with in their own comfort zone. As I said, each season Jac and I take a trip to the stores and see what’s new in tights and I pick up colors I like that are inspirational…..maybe for a sweater, a jacket, etc….you bu9ild up a collection. I don’t remember where they were from, Macy’s, Bloomingdales…Target….where ever………..HUE usually does a good job with new colors each season, but I mostly use black, gray and brown…………”Fully Fashioning” is a specialized way of knitting sweaters, and special machines are used. The shape that is desired is set into the machine and the pieces are actually knitted into that shape and automatically linked together…..for hand knitters it would be the same as dropping stitches or adding stitches to achieve the shape. Doing this eliminates any wastage of yarn, that’s why ALL cashmere and fine sweaters are done this way. The other option is to knit blocks of fabric and cut the shape, as you would making a garment, sew them together on a knit sewing machine, and throwing the scraps away…….this would be a total waste when using expensive yarns, so only sweaters using very inexpensive yarns are made this way. You could ask, “then why don’t they make all sweaters on fully fashioned machines to save the yarn”….the answer is….it takes much longer to set up the fully fashions machines for each style and each size, and the knitting time is double, triple. longer depending on the style……time is money…….and it’s a lot cheaper to knit the yardage and “cut & sew”.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your shows yesterday! Both shows were fantastic, and Amy and Shawn both did a superb job. I ordered the ottoman suit in spruce, and several whisper knit items. I have received a couple items already (I had ordered several new items before the shows) and I have to tell you the malachite is incredible! It is THE perfect shade of green – I hope we see more items down the road in this spectacular color. Thanks, Louis and Jac – you bring your Linea Ladies much joy!
Mote Malachite is coming in OCT….and a very special item in Sept.
BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!
Louis and Jac, great job! The show was a whirlwind but you rocked it. I felt like Lucille Ball working on the chocolate bon bon conveyor belt. Remember that episode? Except I’m grabbing up clothes as fast as it comes out. I can’t wait for my caviar and camel suits and black ottoman suit, walnut suede jacket, teal cowl, and MORE to get to me. Gorgeous on TV and I’m sure even more stunning in person. Can’t wait to see how they play with my other Linea. ENCORE!!! (and I know you’ve got great items coming).
Julia
Thank you, Louis and Jac, for an exciting fashion ride on the 26th!
Whew, well that certainly was fun, fast and furious! Thank goodness I ordered the asymmetrical jacket in caviar and the pants in all 3 colors before the show – they went so fast we all got whiplash as they went by!
I’m thrilled you did slim pants again, Louis. The models looked killer good in them, and I can’t wait to get them. Also, I took your suggestion and got the walnut boucle sweater. Just so sleek and different. Jac looked amazing in it last night, and I’m eyeing that spruce, too. It’s not a color I typically wear, but I love the way it looks with jeans.
Really great show – congrats!
CONGRATULATIONS on an incredible show. You and Shawn were wonderful together, and the pieces took quite a hit on my credit card! I bought several of the Marled Knit shirts, a marled Knit Cowl Neck top, a WK turtleneck, 2 tunics with side buttons, the v neck sweater and 2 of the suede jackets. OH MY! Louis, I’ve been purchasing your gorgeous clothes since the beginning and SCREAMING your praises. Thank you for all the beautiful garments, the fit, finish and fabrics are second to none, especially at these prices….. LOVE YOU.
How about TIGHTS in some of your featured colors…. topaz, walnut, this go ’round, and different ones going forward. Also… scarves scarves scarves!
xoxoxo
That would be a good topic on the fashion forum…..it is a suggestion I have made to TPTB.
Loved the shows! Love Shawn (My favorite) Got the marled top and skirt in fushia. Thanks for a good time. Will there be any new pants in Walnut? Have a safe trip home. 🙂
Hooray that the sequin skirt is finally going to be available. Red? Great!
I have three things on wait list and hope they will come my way. So happy for you that everything sold out.
Dear Louis and Jac,
What a fantastic day you’ve had! Amy and Shawn did a great job, and the lovely clothes just sold themselves right out the door, with some help from the lovely Jac and friends 🙂 Can’t wait to get home from New Mexico and open all my packages … our housesitter thinks I’m crazy LOL. Heartfelt thanks and congratulations!
Oh Louis! Not only are you a magnificent designer with impeccable style, color sense and fit savvy, you are just one wonderful man. I wish you were my brother. I bought waaay too much (three separate orders because I ran up to max) but couldn’t help myself. Everything was so stunning. Besides, it’s my birthday on Wednesday! I can’t wait for you next shows. Did i read something about a short leather jacket? Any hints? I love reading your blog and getting the skinny on what you have up your sleeve, so to speak. Anyway, good night and thank you for making this such an exciting fashion day.
Dear Candance- Believe me, I know most of pitfalls of QVC ordering – learned by my own errors. It’s true, You can only have 9 items in provided online cart. However, IF you purchase in excess of 9 items in a 24 hour time – They must give combined SAVINGs on shipping! In your best interest, call Customer Service to verify & please save your valued dollars. HTH
Happy BDay.
Thanks! For the tip and b-day wishes!
Louis,
Congratulations- Your show was a smashing success! Can’t wait to see even more in September. I like that purple tie.
Celia
Please, please bring the sleeveless 95% poly, 5 % spandex dress. It has become my uniform but I need it in many colors and another in black since I wear the one I have to death! It had a jacket to match. I’d love to see a matching jacket that fits a little closer to the body. Thank you for making clothes that are affordable, classic and stylish. Thank you so much!
Hi Louis: Great show with Amy, didn’t watch you with Shawn Killinger, it’s always about her, not the designer. BUT, I ordered everything from on-line and the lapis blue and violet are so vibrant on TV but even more beautiful in person. Could not find the long blue necklace Angela wore with your lapis blue t-neck, you mentioned it was on line. Hope you had a successful day. Really with QVC would allow your berets to be offered. Thanks, Toni
Actually, I think Shawn did a great job…
I’m haven’t been a “Shawn” fan in the past, but I thought she did a wonderful job. She’s changed since getting married.
Louis,
I really want to order item #A219896 in red; will it be coming back on QVC. I have the black in a medium. It is such a beautiful sweater and has the perfect fit! You are an amazing designer.
Thanks
Nancy, that sweater was presented on Fashion Early today. You can watch the updated online video – Louis states it will not be coming back.
Dear Louis,
I buy your clothing every time your on QVC…. Please please tell how to get your jewelery. I have some pieces, but, they always sell out so darn fast.
I can answer that.:). Only on the Q when they are available. You might try searching EBay for any other Linea jewelry . Hope that helps.
Dear rosannes……just go to QVC, type in the search bar, Linea Jewelry, and all the jewelry avail will come up. 90% of the jewelry I showed in the shows is still avail. Some may be limited, but most is there.
Louis, thank you so much for your show today. The clothing, models, presentation could not have been better.
You are a treasure!
Louis,
Just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE the Whisper Knit items. I just came back from Russia – long flights -I have the hemp color in skirt, pants, tank, and jacket – I wore the pants, jacket, and tank over, rinsed out the tank and wore both the skirt and pants with above back! It was hot so I changed from early morning pants to skirt half way! These are fabulous travel pieces- I got tons of compliments. I love that you have a skirt in the collection – I would buy these same piece in another “basic” color- they are seasonless and very professional looking yet incredibly comfy! Like wearing nothing at all – many thanks. I’ve just watched your show on QVC and got totally carried away – but I will look fabulous on my next couple of trips – and everywhere in between!
The Springers say hey! Nara
What color slacks would you pair with the suede knit jacket in walnut? Thanks for your advise.
Dark navy, charcoal grey, camel, ivory, tan, chino, dark olive, dark forest green, dark wine, of course JEANS, and I will have brown pants on my next show. I haven’t received the samples yet, so when I do , if I think the two browns work well, I will let everyone know. FYI….I showed last falls WK Walnut pant in the show.
New blazer ready for ordering A 228554 . I have ordered mine in burgundy
