Louis, love the new ballet neck banded sweater. What exactly is a “true red”? I cannot wear deep dark reds, or blue reds. Usually I prefer a more pink or bright red. Any suggestions? My other choice would be ivory, but really looking for red.
Thanks.
Dear Cathy,
For me a true red is neither blue or orange. It’s a pure pigment red. From what you have said,I think you will love this color. I strongly suggest you give this red sweater a try……then let me know what you think……Louis
Louis, you are truly awesome (jac also). Thanks for speedy response. Just ordered the red sweater and will let you know the outcome. Really great to be able to communicate with a designer for advice. Sometimes just too difficult to choose color per television. Your nest show is only 30 minutes away, so will stay up to watch. Best to you and your lovely wife. Kathy.
Hi Louis, sorry I missed the first show…I was at Dr. appts all morning, but it sounds like it was a really good show. In doing my shopping now, I’ve missed the sand pants in reg or petite sizes…hope some more come in. I’m home now ready for the next two shows…good luck.
Sherry
Hi Louis and Happy New Year!
Unfortunately, I missed your first show of the new year, but went back to look at the clothes. LOVE!! So glad You are still with us!
I have a request, please? I missed out on getting (A213215) in the pale pink last year and am really hoping that you will be making another blazer in this color. I noticed that this year you are making it in a pale lilac, which is nice, but I REALLY, REALLY want a jacket in the light pink. Can you please let me know if something will be coming this Spring? Thanks!
Sandra S.
Dear Sandra……I did have a P.Pink blazer planned the the cotton sateen but it was dropped…..maybe next year!
Wonderful show, Louis and Jac! Will be watching the next two as well. Happy for you, but dismayed as well that Q won’t order enough inventory on something so basic and essential as the new Boatneck WK Sweater. Managed to get the red and ivory, but missed the navy while I debated sizing, as their Click Here measurements don’t make sense again; not YOUR fault. Have it on waitlist … maybe … Meanwhile, can’t wait to order more in the wee hours, and wait for all my packages to arrive; thanks again!
Cathy in PA
P.S, Emailed into the “Ask Us Now” live feed to the show, about a Live Show in the future … they didn’t answer that one LOL … but there’s a huge amount of support on the forum threads, and physical letters have gone out, with real stamps …
Real Stamps……soon they will be going the way of the fax machine…..which I refuse to give up
Real stamps and real cotton content watermarked paper is harder to ignore … you can’t delete, and other people see it, and it’s still protected by the U.S. government … Walter hides the stamps, but was willing to give up a bunch on your behalf 🙂 More letters tomorrow, more posts on the threads … till we get what we want; we’re so greedy; now we’re asking for a Live Show, a TSV in the future, and more Jewelry of course LOL … Byzantine is gorgeous, but I want that Pearl Necklace with the Crystals on.
You and Jac get plenty of rest, and we’ll see you at 2am, and in the morning again, with our MOST Sincere THANKS!
Cathy in PA
P.S. Tell Jac she looked especially lovely this morning.
Wonderful morning program!! It was a pleasure to watch and listen when you were paired with Sandra who looked fantastic in the blazer and pants.
Regards,
Chris
AWESOME show.
However, I will be the one to ask: where are the size small black pants? (sob, sniffle. whine.)
Love the show! Love Sandra! Love the colors! Hate that there were no size small black pants. I got the medium, though, and can tailor. I must have those pants.
Looking forward tonight.
Carol aka crdlb
There were no Sand Mediums either…very disappointing.
I am trying Carol’s idea and tailoring a Large down.
I, too, am curious (and dismayed) about the missing small black pants.
Other than that disappointment, it was a terrific show! I can hardly wait to see and order the new pebble crepe pieces tonight.
Speaking of which, will the new terracotta mix and match with the olive paisley georgette pieces from last fall? (I’m buying regardless, of course, but if they coordinate I will have more outfits to anticipate.)
Dear MH-MN,
since I’m in PA, I can’t check the samples to see if they look good together, so I really don’t know…………..sorry
I will try to find out about them when I get home…..were there any at all or did they sell out quick?
You are sweet to reply on this busy day. I hope that you and Jac get a nice rest and a good dinner before the early morning show! There were no black crepe pants in small and 2X, ever. I first checked at 10:56 PM CST. As to the terracotta, if it’s a match, it’s a bonus! See you in a few hours.
There were no Sand Mediums either.
Hi Louis,
I loved your show too, but missed out on the small black pebble pants, were they ever in stock?
Dear Sally,
This is a mystery to me. I am usually told before hand if there are any problems with shipping or shortages, but I head nothing…..I will check on Monday………Louis
Mr. Dell’Olio,
I just finished watching your show on the Q, and I am being tortured with the fishy necklace and earrings. Please, Please, PLEASE bring something similar to market – especially the necklace which is just so wonderful. In the mean time, I am stalking the internet in case one comes up on Ebay, Etsy, etc.
Thank you,
Elizabeth
Right now I’d be happy if they just continue the line!
OMG! What a beautiful show. Bought the jacket & shell in sand GORGEOUS, the boat neck in all 3 colors, missed out on the black pant in 1X UGH! NEED NEED NEED to have the pearl and gold necklace and absolutley have to have the fish necklace and earrings! Is there any way you could let me know on air when they will be available?…….
There isn’t enough of you on the Q !
I enjoy watching you …….see you and J @ 2:oo am
Paula
Add me to the list of those who are haunted by that fish necklace. Must.have.it.
Hi Louis,
You replied to Nikki that you do two dark navy shades: one having a green cast, and the other having a red cast. Which one would be the piped crops and jacket of last spring/summer? And the Robyn? Trying to decide between the navy and white Lily…thanks! (And I’ll be watching!)
good question but really now, you know you’re getting both…
LOL! You know me too well! But I have to make room for the python!
Dear jmarie, I am not home to check the samples…..so I can’t answer that, but I like the navy shirt with contrast bottoms so it really shows off the shirt…..white or jeans.
LDO–chest measurement on the new embroidered sweater and the new boatneck sweater seem small by Q standards. I, for example, am usually an xs in your sweaters–do you advise sizing up on these (quick go ask Jac!)
Jac didn’t think the boat neck ran small and she has had the lace one on but she will try both on before the show and during the show I will let you know our opinion…….that’s the best I can do…….LDO
Dear Kate…. Jac tried on the sweaters both size xs. As far as she is concerned she is an extra small and they fit her the way she would want them to fit. That said the boat neck has a shaped side seam and the lace sweater is smaller than say the cheetah print sweater so if you feel more comfortable sizing up…go ahead, but I like them as they are. The boat neck followers the line of the body…it is not baggy and the lace is definitely on the slimmer side…hope this helps…
so, true to Q size it is! Very helpful.
I purchased the most beautiful top “Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Beaded Crinkle Silk Caftan” from QVC two years ago. Since then I have lost 70 pounds. I refuse to give up this top even though I am swimming in it. QVC no longer carries this top. Is there some other avenue I could use to get a smaller size. My chest is current 36″ and I wear size 8 jeans.
I absolutely love this top!!!!!
Dear Mary Alice,
WOW!!! 70 lbs….how did you do that?
The only thing I could suggest is E-Bay. Some have been very successful at finding older discontinued styles there. I know you may find the top huge now but some times caftan tops look good overs ized…….as a last resort could it be altered?………………Louis
Louis, I have a question on the Lily Shirt.
What is the length of the last seam before the peplum? I’m long waisted and wouldn’t want it to be too much higher.
Thanks!!
Hi….first let me say the seam isn’t supposed to sit at the natural waist……it sits lower….It measures 17 inches from the “high point shoulder” and it dips lower in the back. I think this will be fine.
Thank you so much , Louis!
I’m not surprised that the measurement seems perfect.
Now I have to make some hard choices about the upcoming shows!
I’m looking forward to seeing everything.
“See” you soon.
Hi Louis, I have a question. Will the “Mosaic Print Tiered Skirt” be coming back in the navy/blue? I seem to have missed it last year, and it’s not availabe in many sizes at the moment.
thanks so much
Sherry in KS
Dear Sherry,
No the mosaic skirt has not been reordered, but I have some really fabulous new printed skirts coming this spring/summer………..Louis
OOOOH, it sounds like I won’t miss not getting the mosaic skirt after all. Thanks for your quick reply…it just keeps getting better and better.
thanks
Sherry in KS
So happy to see this, Louis! I’ve really been enjoying the paisley bohos this winter. I wear both the black and olive with oversized sweaters and boots. Love! Can you give us any color hints about the new skirts?
Enjay!!!!! it’s too early to give hints! I don’t want you all to get bored!
Good afternoon Louis,
The boho skirt is coming in taupe and paprika colors. Can you elaborate on what shade the paprika is in? Is it an orange red or a reddish orange color? Would this go with the terracota crepe top shown in sneak peek 8? Will there be print tops coming that have this paprika color in it for spring/summer?
Thanks for your prompt responses.
Chris
OH OH, did I miss name it!It’s definitely more on the red side a cross between paprika and persimmon………I hate naming colors. If all goes as planned there will be coordinates to the colors………Louis
This is wonderful!! I love your jewel toned color choices.
Have a great day,
Chris
Hi Louis, I’m not sure if you ever watch Linea items on Ebay, but this one caught my attention today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/220929729053?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Were these samples that QVC didn’t take?
I didn’t end up bidding, but I would LOVE to have the earrings to match the necklace I have purchased (actually 2 of them)! How can we convince QVC that we want these items!
They indeed are samples and it is a mystery how they got on e-bay. I suspect they were stolen from the factory since a few of them were made. If all goes well they will be avail. on QVC this May….but no promises until we get the official orders……………Louis
That’s encouraging — I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
How can we let QVC know that we WANT them?
You should say in a blog you want the multi color bead necklace and drop earring Louis has been showing with the Byzantine cross and station necklace to complete the group……….they do read the blogs…..Louis
Will get on it!
Louis, I have your crop pants from last August in both olive and black. I don’t have the item number, but the fabric matched the blazer with the domed gunmetal buttons and zippers. I had sworn off crop pants but tried yours and love them. Is there any chance that these pants are coming back in other colors? I would love to have them in khaki, white, and navy.
Dear Jill,
I know which pant you are speaking about…..it has a side zipper. Originally I did that pant in cotton sateen in black and tobacco….there was a matching short jacket. Many women that bought it asked me to please redo it, but the sales weren’t strong enough to bring it back….so…I did the same pant in the brushed cotton in the olive and black that you love. Again, the sales were not strong enough to reorder it!!?? I guess there aren’t enough women who feel as strongly about it as you do. Personally, I think it’s a great pant, but it is very difficult to get a reorder pant unless it is a pull-on, which seems to please the majority of women. Even though I do not have a similar pant in my spring line up….I will have a terrific zip front [ankle or crop….can’t remember the length]in my cotton sateen. The colors will be white, black and turquoise. Your olive crops are going to get a lot of wear this coming spring summer as they will go with a lot of new items…..a second pair may not be out of the question as good, basic olive pants are hard to find……I will definitely do those crops again in one way or another…..for Spring 2013!
………………….regards, Louis
I can’t believe my multiple orders of these pants in olive and black weren’t sufficient for a re-order! 🙂 But please, Louis, we need this same pant in the same fabric in a full length! They would be a great with everything pant, but also extend the season for wearing the jackets into early spring and fall.
Pull-on pants? Not offense, but the buyers are off their collective rockers.
Dear jmarie,
I hear you, but in this case it has absolutely nothing to do with the buyers. It is about low returns and customer demand. There are certain fabrics, like the pebble crepe, that I like in a pull-on elastic waist style, but I too, prefer a clean pant in cotton sateen and brushed cotton. Don’t worry, I will continue to do them……just don’t expect them to come back in new colors….the chances are slim…….regards, Louis
Clean pants, yeah! Would you think about putting a small “coin” pocket on the front–just big enough for a train ticket/ bus pass/ a little change. Incredibly useful, especially when the weather’s too warm for a jacket with pockets!
Hi Louis:
Will the new navy safari jacket coordinate with the navy/blue mosaic skirt from last summer? I love the safari jackets with the boho style skirts.
I also have the navy georgette skirt, if that works better.
I’m a navy/gray/brown girl. Even though you’ve converted me to black.
While I’m asking, any chance of some nauticals this coming season?
Thanks for the navy!
crdlb
Hi Carol,
I think the new navy safari looks great with the mosaic boho but not so much with the solid. The skirt is a much darker navy and it looks off to me. I prefer the navy with the olive, khaki or the new white [ivory] safari jacket.
Nautical…..well nothing with anchors on it but for Feb there is ivory, red and navy which will be a continuation of my red ivory and navy sweater on the up coming show……you can make it look as nautical as you want…..Louis
Hello Again,
On the linea forum there was an alert forthe new safari jacket colors. I have 3 of them and I just picked upthe navy. That’s how much I love it. I think the navy will go great with all the olives that I purchased last year. I wanted to know do you have a top coming up with navy and olive together? that way i can wear my olive crop pants/boho the navy safari jacket/lily shirt with a tank/top that brings them together. I plan on collecting a lot of your navy this year. Thanks.
Dear nikki,
I totally agree with you, I love navy and olive together. However, I do not have anything coming in that particular combination. I have some olive and navy coming, but not together in the same garment…..Louis
Dear Louis
Maybe something for next year or the fall? If possible, thankyou for taking requests
regards
nikki
Hi Louis,
I whipped out a Linea “oldie but goodie” from my closet to wear to a cocktail party last night. It’s A59316 – a 100% silk long, slim, gorgeous shirt in a creamy ivory. Any chance of bringing this shirt – or this style – back? This has to be a million years old (more or less!) and still looks impeccable.
Dear enjay,
You will have to give me more of a hint as to which shirt this is???? If the price of silk doesn’t come down any time soon, there isn’t much of a chance I’ll be using it. You would be surprised how the sales drop when a garment is priced above a certain number and silk would definitely be above that number….maybe in another fabric?……….Louis
Hi
If you put in the item number at qvc.com it comes up as:
Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Solid Charmeuse Poet Shirt and there is a picture.
A flair to remember. Fashion yourself a sophisticate with this smart shirt. Points for sassy style: four dyed-to-match covered buttons down the front placket; cuffs with a single dyed-to-match covered button for closure; and a convertible collar. The straight bottom hem with side vents and center back box pleats allow you to have more room for comfort.
Ruby, Purple or Ivory. S(6-8), M(10-12), L(14-16), 1X(18W-20W), 2X(22W-24W), 3X(26W-28W).
M length 29-1/2″, chest 43-1/2″. 1X length 31″, chest 52″.
100% silk. Dry clean only.
Made in China.
Yes
I do remember it. I don’t have anything like it coming up. As I recall it was a very beautiful silk charmeuse shirt….unfortunately it was not a big seller…..only for the very discriminating…….Louis
It’s a long, slim cut. Square collar. Four buttons down the front, but the buttons are slightly off center. The buttons are covered in the silk fabric and they button with beautiful self-fabric loops – amazing detail work on this. The loop side of the shirt buttons over a self-facing on the button side. Long sleeves with cuffs – same buttons and loops on the cuffs. Two side slits. A long, cool drink of water. And I remember wearing it to a New Year’s eve party when my kids were little, so I’m thinking … at least 9-10 years old?
It’s a long-time favorite and is just so elegant, classy and sophisticated-sexy, it’s always been one of my favorites. Hope this helps bring it to mind!
Hello Louis,
I am having alot of fun trying to decide my new purchases, thanks for the sneak peaks. I have a question, will the navy pants A89801 from past seasons, match the navy lily blouse A221802. Are there any new navy pants on the way ? Looking forward to the upcoming shows as usual.
Dear Nikki,
I can not find that pant….what does it look like? Front zip…side zip? I have so many that I have either given my samples to charity or put them in the warehouse. I will be having jersey navy pull on pants in the same poly/span as the cheetah, medallion, floral print T-Shirts……..Louis
Thanks for your response. The A89801 are the cotton sateen roll cuff crop pants with a front zip. They are still available atqvc in my size. I look forward to your shows.
regards
nikki
Dear nikki,
Thanks for jogging my memory! I looked at both pieces together and they do not match. In general I use two shades of dark navy. One has a greener cast as the Lily shirt and the other has a red caste as the pant you are speaking about…..so they do not go together at all. I really love both navy colors, but I realize it would have been easier to stick with one navy. It was not intentional, but that’s how it worked out. I would be happy to only use one navy…..but which one? I think they are both pretty…………regards, Louis
Louis, in case you haven’t heard about this issue, thought I should give you a heads up on the discussion at the QVC Fashion Community under the Linea section under the title of “For those of you who have A219797 V-Neck Button Front Sweater”. I’m The Owl on that discussion board. I know there is nothing you can do about the problem but thought you should at least be made aware of it.
Thank you Nancy,
I am aware of the problem some women are having. I’m not quite sure why it happened, but I will definitely speak to my manufacturer about it.
Dear Louis and Jac,
Wanted you to be kept “in the loop”. As proposed, and by common consent among the Linea ladies forum posters, we’ve settled on the following letter to QVC, and posted as a new thread on the forum tonight. Signatures will be collected on that thread, and we’ll see what we can accomplish to get a “Live Audience” Show for Linea. Hope this meets with your approval.
Warm Regards, Cathy in PA and the ladies of the forum.
“Dear QVC:
Please make one of the upcoming 2012 Linea by Louis Dell’Olio shows a Live Audience show.
The Linea by Louis Dell’Olio line of clothing is a wonderful classic and elegant line of clothing with a modern edge, perfect for the workplace and leisure wear. These are clothes styled and made to wear into the future, and mix and match to truly build a wardrobe for home, work and travel.
Louis and Jac Dell’Olio bring quality and style resources to QVC that are unique and exclusive, and have a well demonstrated huge base of purchasers and fans. A Live Show would be a tremendous way to bring greater visibility and greater sales to QVC and this fantastic line of clothing. Please make the most effective use of this fabulously exclusive line and Louis and Jac by bringing a Live Linea Show to QVC in 2012.
Sincerely,
Cathy in PA and the Linea Ladies of QVC
January, 2012”
Dear Dathy,
That’s a terrific letter. It would be fantastic to be in a room with all of you……..what an after party!
Glad the letter was okay with you; took me three days to craft that one …We’d be more than delighted to host an after party! Just imagine all the ladies trying to figure out what they’d wear, and what jewelry … LOL!
Me, I started collecting a few vintage Anne Klein pieces of the “bay” since there was nothing else left for me to start with 🙂 Did you by chance design the one that’s a longer necklace with small gold textured beads and a real working whistle at the bottom as a pendant?
Cathy in PA
No, I don’t remember doing anything with a whistle. The chain necklace with the gold balls hanging from a gold ring [it’s in one of the sneak peeks] is one that I did at AK. I have seen it on the bay one time. They have some great things. If you ever want to know if something is mine on the Bay just tell me what page and how many down from the top and a brief description so I know I’m looking at the right one.
Thanks; I just might ask … been looking at a number of AK pieces; one’s on the way to me now; a 44″ long gold chain with big gold love knot links; very cool. Didn’t have any LONG chains anymore; got rid of them a couple of decades ago LOL … I kind of like that one with the whistle so I could whistle for Grumpy Walter when I need him …
Your “letter” is posted in both the Linea forum and the Q Suggestion thread at the advice of some of the ladies; last time I looked, we were up to nearly 30 signatures already 🙂
Cathy in PA
Loving all the sneak peeks! I just received the t-neck in perfectly pink, what a wonderful color. Will there be any ppink going into spring/summer? I see where it was available last year; but, I missed out last year.
thanks for your time
Sherry in KS
Yes, there will be some things in P. Pink….though not too many. Is the P.Pink Boho skirt your style….it’s a great summer skirt and I will have a new crinkle georgette top to match……V5kp
Great, thanks
Opps, forgot to ask…will there be a reorder on th P.Pink Boho skirt? My size is gone at the moment.
thanks
Sherry
Hi Louis,
Could you tell us what the item number is for the coordinating Petite pants of this item? A221798– new pants in sand, black and lavender. Thanks so much.
Regards,
Chris
I would like the item number as well.
Thanks
Laura
The petite pant is A 221851
Thank you! 🙂
Thank you
Dear Louis,
A number of us have been discussing your Poet Blouse #213626. It’s back in stock, and has won absolutely rave reviews and sold out before; the ladies on the forums highly recommend. However, the only photos are unspeakably bad, AND the video doesn’t work; I know that’s out of your control, but I wondered if you’d have a few minutes to give us a bit better description and maybe size, body type and style recommendations for this one? Would be MUCH appreciated. 9 days and counting 🙂
Thanks!
Dear Cathy,
It is a tunic shirt with a set in “bib front like a man’s tuxedo shirt. It has a classic shirt color and a placket front that stops just below the bib. It has roll up sleeves with tabs and buttons. It is an easy shirt, but I do not consider it over sided. It is slightly A-line and is supposed to look roomy. I think of it as a sort of smock or English garden shirt. It has patch pocket which makes the shirt very comfortable. It looks great with legging, Capri pants, jeans and foe a little dressier look, some including myself, like it with a pencil skirt, I will have sneak peaks of this shirt before it airs…..so you will get a better idea. I love this shirt because it is very unique and there isn’t anything out there like it. I thinks that’s part of the reason women love it. I think you should get your normal size because it has a set in sleeve and if you get it too small it could be tight across the upper back. I know some have sized down, but that isn’t my personal preference. If you wore it as a “beach coverup” you would want it easy and not binding at all…..hope this helps…….Louis
Dear Louis,
I think you just helped a lot of us; I’ll alert the ladies on the forum thread to come read this; it sounds wonderful. I think I’ll order one and give it a try; most of the details you described aren’t even visible on the website; I love the sound of those pockets; it echoes that reference the other day to a girl on a bike with a basket of flowers, a baguette, maybe a straw hat with a grosgrain ribbon around … I was thinking the white might make a wonderful beach coverup. I just won’t LOOK at the photo LOL, but IF when you’re ready, you give us a clue when and where to to look for those sneak peeks, we’ll be sure to pay special attention.
Thanks!
Cathy in PA
The photo of thi top is particularly UGLY…I don’t blame you for wondering. There are many photos that leave a lot to be desired….that’s why, when I have the time, I do my own as sneak peeks.
And we LOVE that you and Jac take the time to do this for us! We know it takes a lot of time and effort to create these “Sneak Peeks” and it is so very helpful to be able to see different views, styling, colors … as well as plan out the budget, or at least plan out how we’re going to put out the fires … LOL.
As for the Poet Blouse, not even my imagination could make the leap from that photo to my plus sized, petite body … thanks to you, I’m thinking the worst I could do would be to get a really great beach cover up, and the best I could do would be to have a lovely British garden smock I could embroider with some silk ribbon flowers at the top of that bib or collar and pocket tops, and wear to the Philadelphia Flower Show. Your words painted a new picture for me; Thanks!
Cathy in PA
My Pleasure!
Wow! That was quick 🙂 The shirts look wonderful!!! Thanks again,
Cathy in PA
Hi Louis,
I was wondering if there will be any Navy or Ivory trousers coming up.
Hopefully yours,
Mary
Dear Mary,
If you mean a classic trouser like in my poly/rayon/span gab….no. In Fed I will have a pair of jersey pull on pants in espresso, indigo, olive and black. They are in the same poly/span as my print tops [medallion, cheetah etc.] In March I will have a light weight denim boot cut pant in white, indigo and black……there will also be a fun jacket to match……sorry ladies…..no pencil this year [not that I didn’t want one]. In April I will have a cotton sateen, front zip crop or ankle length pant [can’t remember which length….isn’t that terrible….I know you understand LOL], they will be in white black and turquoise……that’s all the pants for this coming spring/summer…………regards, Louis
Louis, I love the idea of jersey pants for spring/summer, but was wondering if the fabric might be more like the new drape-neck top you just did. The medallion prints have a bit of shine to them which I don’t think I’d like in pants. By the way, I ordered the drape-neck knit animal print top in green (of course) and loved it so much I’ve ordered it in the black and cassis, too!
Louis, I mis-described the new knit top: it is the python print faux wrap top, a219799
Hi Nancy!!!!! I have heard nothing about the V-neck sweater, so it will not be coming soon. I will be shocked if it is not reordered. It normally takes 4 to 6 months to produce knit wear from the date the orders are placed. Sweaters need a longer lead time than cut and sew garments because the machines which are 12 gauge [very fine] take a long time. Since the factories are all closing for Chinese New Year…..nothing can be made until they reopen. If and when a reorder is placed, I don’t think it would be realistic to think any of the sweaters will be avail until late Aug. Sept. at the earliest. I know that’s more info then you needed.
As for the jersey….believe it or not they are all the exact same fabric….it’s a matter of the finishing whether the fabric has a sheen or not. I agree with you, I prefer a matte, as they say in the industry, “DRY finish”. The jersey pant does not have a shine to it. The colors are deep and dark, which I think is necessary for a light weight jersey pant like this. I hope you like them…….regards, Louis
Thanks for a very interesting explanation of the process for producing your wonderful sweaters! I think it helps for us to understand the hurdles you have to clear and consider as you design for us. There is SO much that goes into your work! When, and if, they re-order the V-neck (which, in case people are wondering, I had asked you about in another section of the blog) I hope the Q will allow many more colors. It is truly the most versatile, wear forever sweater. Espresso and aubergine would be nice.
I hadn’t realized the same fabric could look so different, depending on the finishing. Those jersey pants will be mine in ALL the colors!
Dear Louis,
Thank you for the reply, and all the information about upcoming items. I look forward to it.
Mary
* Good Afternoon Louis,
I hope you get to read this. I recently became aware of your wonderful apparel. I am a graduate of F.I.T. (Buying/Merchandising – 1972) Luckily, I look much younger than my years and feel half my age. It is so refreshing and unusual to find such “on target couture” items on QVC. I watch occasionally and was in need of a blazer, so I tuned in and was amazed to find more than three items of yours that swept me away. Nothing else even came close. Power dressing and an elegant image are important to my mirror, as I dress for that, no one else. Somehow, I don’t see much of this reflected in womens fashions for the past FIFTEEN years. I salute you! … more of it. Happy New Year.
Dear Lynn,
Thank you for the kind words. As a “newbie” to Linea, I think you will continue to be surprised by the value of each garment. It’s a lot of look for very reasonable prices……welcome, Louis
Hi Louis, the crepe jacket A213215 with the pearl buttons is now available, but there are still no “Click Here” measurements shown. It’s been a year since it was first presented. I’ve called customer service and asked that those measurements be included in the description, but thought that you might have better luck. I remembering calling the Q last year with the same request.
What is the item number for the matching PETITE pants?
That FISH Necklace has absolutely intrigued me to the point that I dreamed about it last night. Will you show show us the palm collection in one of your sneak peaks?
The measurements have been posted on a link on the forum….
Hi Louis….. I received your suede jacket in aubergine and it is wonderful…… The matching turtle neck was sold out in my size…. will there be more of these coming in?? I don’t think I would like the shorter sleeve for our cold winters……Anything else you might suggest to go with it???? DeLois
Dear Delois,
There aren’t anymore fall shipments coming in. We are staring Spring on the 21st. Unfortunately there aren’t any sweaters left in any style other than the short sleeve mock neck in Aubergine and I can’t say if any will be reordered in that color for next year. I like autumn colors mixed with the aubergine, like olive, amber, gold, camel, ivory. chartreuse, even some purples and magentas look great with aubergine. Mallard blues and teals also work with aubergine. I always suggest to find a scarf with the main color in it, in this case aubergine, and see what accent colors the scarf designer has put with it. I do recommend you pick up the aubergine mock neck. If it’s too cold now you can always wear it in the spring or fall with the suede jacket……..Louis
Thanks Louis….. I will work it out with that info……
I noticed the aubergine tn is avail in all sizes but med. If you are a med. I would suggest you try a small as many women think it runs a size large.
Also does navy A221796 match the navy knit skirt?
It the same story as the tank, good but not a match.
Hi Louis,
I was wondering if the new navy tank is a match to your navy knit skirt.
Hi Bernadine….they are not a perfect match….different yarns different factories. If you wear the tank with the knit skirt and the Lily shirt, or any shirt, over the tank then it fine, but when you put them up against each other you notice the difference…..Louis
Hi Louis!
I have just learned that my friend Charrie’s daughter will be married in Greece in late June of 2013. The wedding will be held in a small village near the water, similar to the Mama Mia beach in the movie released in 2008ish. It is certain to be HOT! Is it too late to put in a request for a summer dress for 2013? Perhaps sleeveless with a shrug? In a nice light-weight fabric – very breezy and feminine? It would be fabulous to take your designs for this trip of a lifetime. Thanks in advance for any consideration for this idea. I know the PTB will need to approve, but it cannot hurt to ask! Thanks, Louis!
That sounds wonderful and beachy/dressy/casual. I am doing some dresses, also some new printed boho type skirts and tops, both solid and print that would work beautifully. I did have a gorgeous shrug sampled, but the minimums were way to high for QVC to absorb. Don’t worry, there will be plenty to choose from. Congratulate Charrie for me. Jac and I LOVE the Greek islands and have very good friends in Athens. Which island will the wedding take place?……Louis
The groom is from Volos, a couple hours north of Athens. They plan to get married in his grandparent’s village, on the coast of the Aegean Sea. I visited this area a few years ago and it is secluded and dramatically beautiful. I’m excited that you have some nice items planned!
Hi, Louis!
And thank you so much for Sneak Peek #3! I love that kind of sweater dressing. How would the pale aqua work with the spruce bottoms – both knit skirt and new pucker knit skirt? I was recently moving things around in my closet and those skirts accidentally brushed against an aqua item I already had and it looked like a nice complement. Would love to ‘spring-ize’ my darker spruce bottoms! Thanks, as always for your work to keep us all beautifully dressed!
Susie
Dear Susie…..at first I thought…..no I don’t think so, then I put them together and thought…..why not, the colors are certainly pretty together. If I saw a woman dressed like that I would think she was very imaginative and had a very fashion forward taste level……I say go for it. What color shoe? Something off beat?…………Louis
Thank you for the fast reply! I was hoping they wouldn’t ‘fight’ as you said the sweater was ‘minty’. Shoe, hmmm, maybe a black lace covered pump to pick up the ‘lace’ in the sweater? Either heeled or ballet flat, depending – the essential sweater knit skirt, I’d wear ballet flat or low heel, the dressier pucker knit, higher heels. I’ve seen a lot of lace covered shoes lately and am dying to try a pair! Or a strappy black patent sandal for even warmer weather. And maybe a black patent skinny belt around the sweater? And maybe your green pearls coupled with a black jet necklace?
Hope to see this outfit on an upcoming show! LOL!
Thank you for your response Louis! That is a great suggestion on the grosgrain ribbon belt for the pink ensemble. I also bought the black silky shirt so will be able to wear it with the paisley print black skirt too! Great suggestion Louis, as always. Thanks so much. Am so excited about the Jan 20/21st shows. Your coming collections (sneak peeks 1 and 2) are absolutely stunning!
Louis,
Any chance the asymemmetrical jacket will be reordered in Spruce since it was damaged during shipping?
Dear Celia,
One never knows……so far my crystal ball is cloudy! LOL
Celia,
There was a thread over at Q requesting reorders in Spruce (I never got mine either), and maybe new colors; maybe we should go find that thread and “refresh” it to bring it to their attention 🙂
Cathy in PA
Yes, Cathy, I think we should!
Hi Louis, My question is: will the new perfectly pink blouse just shown on the Dec 9th show match the new blush colored paisley skirt coming in January? I got the blouse and thought maybe wearing it with the paisley skirt would look really cute.
Dear Carmille,
The pink blouse looks great with the skirt. I would say it looks more than cute…..it looks down right sexy! Also, the shirt in black looks fabulous with the black paisley. If you are into belts, but can’t find one that will work with your pink shirt and paisley skirt…..I would suggest a gros grain ribbon tied around the waist for a feminine touch. They come in many colors.Of course it looks perfectly fine unbelted…………Louis
Dear Louis, I have kind of an out-of-the blue question. Would you consider offering a Shrug of some sort? Something in 3-season weight (skipping Winter, not a dressy Shrug) I only have one dark navy blue Shrug which I purchased at a local boutique, but would love to have more, designed by YOU. Of course, your whisper knit is a favorite, but don’t know if that is possible Shrug material. Any thoughts? Thank you as always, Sandi
Dear Sandi,
Your question isn’t so “out of the blue”. I think a great shrug is a great “accessory for a woman to have, especially with all of the sleeveless tops, dresses etc.I will be working on one for next spring……regards, Louis
Louis, That’s wonderful news!
Louis, I’m back with another paisley question. I know you said that the new lavender shade in the pearl jacket & pants is different from last year’s frosted lilac. BUT would the new lavender paisley possibly go with my frosted lilac jacket, due to the different shades in the paisley? I was just picturing the paisley skirt with that jacket, but unsure as to the tones. (Instead of sugarplums, I go to sleep with visions of new Linea ensembles dancing in my head!)
Dear Yvette,
I want to say it’s Okay but….for me it’s off. The jacket is really more of a pink/red tint compared with the print which is a bluer lavender……not ideal.
………….regards, Louis
Thanks, Louis. Then I’ll just pair the skirt with the new lavender tank. I’m thinking ahead to our long summer, which begins in April and lasts till Nov. That lavender looks so cool!
Dear Yvette,
Add the black whisper knit cardigan over the tank [sleeves pushed or rolled up] with the skirt and you will look great. Add some black accessories, sunglasses of course, some strappy sandals and black bangles and you will look very pulled together……..regards Louis
Dear Louis:
Is the aqua pebble crepe tunic that is now available for waitlist ordering a match to the aquamarine pebble crepe pants from last spring? That would make a great outfit if so!
Happy New Year!
Terri
Hi Terri,
Yes, they are the same…..regards, Louis
Hi Mr. Dell’Olio, I just wanted to let you know that there are several women who are trying to view the QVC video for your Poet Shirt however the video’s not working. I’ve tried contacting QVC CS about this but they simply send a generic email with no solution. Would you be able to find out what the problem is so that those of us who were unable to see this blouse presented live can watch the video before we purchase?
Thanks!!!
Jeanie
I don’t know why. I remember it really didn’t have a formal presentation. It was shown in an overnight show as I recall, but I will ask and get back to you when they get back to me…………..Louis
Hi Louis,
With all those new shows coming up, wonder if and how we might ever get a live show for Linea … wouldn’t that be a fun party?
Cathy in PA
I would LOVE IT!!!!!A write in?
I had posted this up on our Linea Forum, along with Sammijo. We thought this would be fabulous in August on a weekend, to debut the Fall 2012. Have a Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning along with photo ops with you all. Need to get a writing campaign started and check with your production schedule along with Q. Project!!
Dear Louis:
I’m in for a write-in if you are; didn’t want to start that kind of “trouble” unless you liked the idea LOL! As Sharon also posted we’d want to see WHEN you think would be a good target suggestion for dates? Sharon’s proposal sounds great to me, but you and Jac should suggest WHEN you think would be the best for you personally and marketing wise, and we could run with a write in from that … I’m newer to the group, but those Linea ladies have proven to be a powerful voice LOL … let us know what you think and we’ll give it a try!
Regards,
Cathy in PA
I think it will be important to know which show the buyers are placing their importance first….that would be the month to shoot for. I should know in a few weeks.
A live show would be a BLAST!!!!
!!!!!! the best.
Dear Louis,
Okay; we’ll await your advice in a few weeks, and then we’ll go to work and see what happens. Ladies, sharpen your pens, dust off your keyboards and get ready 🙂 Letters, email, phone calls … who else has ideas?
Cathy in PA
Cathy, thank you for posting to Louis. I have been SOOOOO busy taking care of my sick mother and working …..I just didn’t have the time to post here. It would be so fantastic, fly out Fri night from the office and get back Sunday evening. WE would all have the GREATEST time and buy out the Q. I’ll keep checking back and we’ll jump when we get the production schedule. I know many want to do Fall Collection, myself included. This year was just so fantastic, imagine us all in the Q studios. Louis, so glad to hear that you love the idea also. We are so ready to commit to this.
Grrreat idea!
I meant for the live show Cathy mentioned!
Hello Louis, Just had to say I love the sweater with the lace applique, that will be at the top of my list.I really have little use for suits and skirts(although I love them) That sweater will be great with crops.
Can you tell us if there eill be a PP tank or Tee? Thank You
Actually I didn’t want to spill the beans quite yet but the lace on the sweater is actually emb to look like lace. I could never in a million years find a lace with the proper shape and placement of flowers to fit onto the sweater the way I would want so I just designed an emb. Because the emb is so fine it really looks like lace….even pretty close up. There are no P. Pink tees or tanks coming this Spring……just the reorder mock neck sweater that everyone has been asking for……..The buyers agreed to bring it back even though it had to be more money…………..regards, Louis
P.S.
I just realized I wrote pin striping instead of piping! Don’t want people looking for a pin stripe jacket. I know I would be. lol
LOL, Jules, I read it and thought—“OMG, I missed the pin-striped jacket!” Thanks for clarifying…
Happy January 4th! Thank you for sharing the gorgeous sneak peeks with us. I am especially excited about the navy pieces because I will wear a column of navy under the pink cotton pin striped jacket from last season and the navy pants and white Robyn or tank under the limeaide cotton jacket that is fresh fresh fresh! I also adore lavender over navy and just about wore my lavender tank out from last season. If you could check the new navy pieces against that navy pin striping and let us know about matching I’d be grateful. Thank you for continuing to expand our existing wardrobes with these beautiful new pieces Louis. 🙂
Warmest regards,
Jules
Hi Jules,
Sorry for taking so long…..the jackets and vests were moved to the warehouse and I had to find my reference fabric. ALL the new navies for spring will work with the pinstripe. I have three navy tops that will be on the Jan. shows, one is the tank and two more [sneak peeks to come] and they all work with the pink with the navy piping as well as the navy pinstripe. In Feb. there will be MORE navy that will work…………..Louis
Hi, Louis. Happy New Year to you and Jac. Will the Medallion Print top, J199799, in the Pink/Lilac version go with the new Pale Lavender Jacket and pants?
Also, I came across a picture of you and Donna Karan in 1980 and I posted a link to it on the Linea Forum on the Q. Wow, what a handsome guy (and you still are, I might add)…I always went for those dark Italian good looks!
Looking forward to the upcoming shows….and now that I am back from Dubai (after 7 weeks) I can actually watch them!
All the best to you and Jac in 2012…..
Sorry for the delay…..had to find the medallion top. The lavenders in the top and pant are the same family! The color in the top is a little deeper, as all the colors are stronger, but I think they look very pretty together…….VERY spring/summer………..Louis
Dear Louis, I have 2 questions: (for now, lol)
1. You mentioned the new tank would not come in black, since the A217627, which comes in black, is the same configuration. The A217627 black is currently available in only 3 sizes. Will there be more stock available for the January shows? (I have this in 3 colors including black, but want a back-up black M) Also the olive has been gone for a long time (lucky I have it) was olive re-ordered? I wonder why Q used 2 different item numbers, instead of just adding more colors to this item number?
2. Last year you had mentioned that the mesh yoke blouse would come in I believe 2 new colors, pale lilac and sand? Will these go with the pearl blazer jackets, and when will the mesh yoke blouse be available again? Any colors being re-ordered? this is a favorite, I have every color)
Thanks, and I do realize there are sub-questions to the questions, but hoping you will shed some light. Pretty please?? Thanks, Sandi
Dear Sandi,
I don’t know yet what colors in the original tank will be reordered. If they used the original style number they would have to invest the money in the reorder colors…i.e. olive, mallard blue, black etc. instead of all the new colors. This was done to get more new colors. There are also black tanks avail,I think in the other essential sweater that also came in berry.
As for the mesh yoke blouse, as of now it is slated for April shows, but that can always change. The frosted lilac and sand will match the frosted lilac and sand cotton sateen blazers from last spring! Also the T-shirt with the short sleeves and metallic piping from last June has also been reordered in the ivory, the new black with gunmetal piping, and the new LILAC with silver piping…..and yes the lilac will match the frosted lilac…..so I can save you the trouble of asking me…LOL….they are due either May or June….not sure……………regards, Louis
Louis, Thank you so much for your quick reply!! I am SO excited. That tee is another favorite and I cannot wait to get the new colors!! I love all your collections, but Spring and Summer are especially exciting. Thanks for answering questions in advance, it reminds me of when Johnny Carson would have on that turban thingy and wave an envelope in front of his forehead LOL. You’re the best! Thanks again, Sandi
Am I catching that we might be treated to Linea shows January, February, March, April/May/June … changes pending of course …??? Whoo HOO! LOL
Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy
Yes that is correct. As of now my schedule is:
1- 1/20 9am,
2-1/21 2am and 8am AM Style
3-2/3 1PM
4-3/29 6am and 11am
I also have shows in April, May and June for which I do not have dates and times. I expect the times should be similar to the above times.
…………regard, Louis
Dear Louis,
January, February, March, April, May and June?!? Wonderful, and with enough advance notice to get our Grumpy aka Walter prepared a bit … 😉 This is just such a treat; thanks to you and Jac, and the help of the “bunny watchers” … our Reffi got Grumpy up at 4:30am to go outside and check for bunnies and squirrels this morning LOL!
Cheers,
Cathy in PA
Woohoo! Three shows in January. and two in March which are at actually watchable times. What’s the world coming to?
crdlb
Hooray for all those reorders. Fortunately, I have both the sand and the frosted lilac blazers, so I’m in for both the mesh yoke and piped shirts in both colors. Any hints about matching sateen bottoms?
crdlb
Black with gunmetal piping!!! Winner!!!
Hi Louis! I just saw the new sneak peak with the beautiful new jackets coming in sand, black and pale lavender. I cannot wait to order. Will you be bringing any of the jewelry back on your next show? Those pearl strands look beautiful with those jackets.
Dear Camille,
I am sorry to say there will be no reorders on those styles……Louis
Louis and Jac, Thank you for making 2011 a lot more wonderful, with your presence! Looking forward to sharing 2012 with fun and fashion. Thanks for posting the picture of the girls, TOO ADORABLE. Do they get pretty excited over a bunny sighting? (I can picture it LOL) Happy New Year, and may all good things be in your lives. Sincerely, Sandi
LDO–call me ‘a greedy little songbird’ if you will, but I need some spring sneak peeks!
They are coming after the first of the year!
Can’t wait!!!!
Dear Louis:
I know it’s a bit early to be thinking about next fall, but I just adore both the espresso and the violet faux suede fabrics with which you did the Robyn shirt and the faux wrap skirt. I would love to see these colors in jackets next fall. (maybe the one with the metallic trim?) I would not have thought I would be so crazy for faux suede, but I put my faith in your judgment and once again, you did not disappoint.
Happy New Year!
Carol aka crdlb
Good morning Louis!!
I would love a nice pair of brown pants (similar in style to the ones that went with the riding jacket) and since we are discussing colors– isn’t it time for a winter white pair to be created? They are like hen’s teeth in the retail stores and online stores.
Hope you are enjoying the down time.
Regards to you and Jac,
Chris
Hello Louis,
I hope you and Jac are enjoying a restorative holiday season. I am writing about an issue that several of us have been discussing on the Linea site on QVC. Some of us have difficulty with the labels in your garments scratching our necks and sticking out from the collar. I admit to cutting the labels out of my Linea turtlenecks (of which I have about 10) but there are some items, mostly the lighter weight fabrics, in which folks are afraid to cut out the labels for fear of harming the garment. One Linea Lady confessed that she had actually nicked the fabric in doing so and had to send it to a dressmaker to be repaired. Would it be possible to have the labels stitched with longer thread just at the corners as some designers do, so they could be easily snipped out for us sensitive types? Or, could the labels be made of a softer material or be made smaller in the lighter garments? This might not be possible but I thought I’d ask. Thanks so much for all you do for us.
Dear FreddieMac,
I totally understand your comments as my wife cuts the labels of of every garment she owns. I have forwarded your comment to my Manufacturer and to the QVC buyer. I honestly don’t know what QVC’s requirements are about sewing in labels and size. I do know that they do have specific requests….I usually don’t get involved with labels other than the initial graphics….regards,Louis
I received the ivory blouse which I adore and fits perfecly and the Boucle Boyfriend Jacket in the warm shade and after steaming and shortening the sleeves, I love it too. I wish QVC would have better respect for beautifully tailored garments and pack them well in a box instead of a plastic bag……… I almost sent the jacket back it was so wrinkled, but I got out my steamer and went to work and I am glad I did….. Love your designs, Louis…….. Thank-you
Dear DeLois, I am happy to hear you didn’t give up on the jacket. I agree with you that tailored clothing, especially jackets, should be shipped in a better way. I can tell you they are not received from the factory in that condition. Again, it’s a beautiful jacket and I’m glad you took the time to steam it. I have also recommended having them pressed professionally if a steamer isn’t at had. Once it is pressed and hung, it really doesn’t need much care. I know it says wash but I would always have a tailored garment dry cleaned…..really how often does a winter jacket need to be dry cleaned? Enjoy your purchases…..have a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas Louis, Jac, and the Girls
I just recently got home from my trip to Germany to find all of my new goodies. I wanted to thank you for your sizing help – it was spot on. I love my new clothes. Guess I was a very good girl this year. But you were amazing.
I ended up with:
Pants – Black, Slate Blue, and Sand – need to hem.
Satin Back Blouse – Ivory, Perfectly Pink, and Black – need to move over the buttons so that the sleeves blousson since they are long.
26″ Pull on skirt – Black, Fawn, and Perfectly Pink (nice long skirt for me)
Python Top – Navy
Pucker Suit – Black (still waiting for skirt – on waitlist)
Faux Suede Blouse – all colors debating on fit between small and medium
Faux Suede Skirt – Avocado – need to hem.
Watercolor Blouse – Avocado and Rasberry
Faux Suede Jacket – Black – tucking under the sleeves so that the gunmetal trim edges the jacket.
Bow Sweater – Ivory and Chartreuse (now waiting on Pink)
The sequin tunic and the vest cardi did not work out for me. I am going to retry the cardi with a top underneath (too itchy on its own).
Question on the Faux Suede Blouse – both the small and medium fit (no gapping of buttons). The small is closer to the body and the medium is more relaxed. Which way should the blouse fit?
Dear LauraL,
Where in Germany were you? It must have been all decked out in it’s Christmas finery!
I am so happy the majority of things worked out for you. Concerning the faux suede shirt. Since they both fit, it really depends how you intend to wear it most often…..Does the small work with a turtle neck, crew neck, or Kate shirt under it, worn open as a jacket….and is still comfortable? If so, I would go with the small. This way it will still work as a shirt with either nothing under it or a tank. If you feel you will get more use out of it as a shirt jacket with layers and the medium is more comfortable than that is the way to go. Does the Medium look go buttoned up with nothing under it or does it look too big? I honestly would go with the size that gives you the most options.
As far as the cardi being itchy….for some it doesn’t itch at all, for others, like yourself they are very sensitive and can feel the small percentage of wool. Definitely try it with the satin back blouse first, which is how it was meant to be worn. It was never meant to be worn with nothing under it. Of course if it does work for some with nothing under it, and maybe belted, that is always an option…..definitely try it layered….it’s a terrific cardi……Have a wonderful Holiday!!!!Louis
Hi
For the most part I was in Wurzburg Germany – 2 hours east of Frankfurt. I did manage to get to Nuremburg on a free Saturday to check out the Christmas Market. It is the most famous one in Germany. Each town has there own Christmas markets and each one has a unique flair – of course all of them sell Gluvine (hot mulled wine) and bratwurst. I now have a collection of the mugs. The Gluvine is served in specially designed mugs for each town and/or vendor. Some are mini boots and some are normal mugs.
This time of year is very special in Germany so it was a fun time to be there.
It now appears I will be spending almost all of January and part of February there as well. It will be some very long weeks but at least I will look great while I’m there. I would appreciate sneak peaks for the January collection because once again I will miss your show and catch it on DVR later. Your pictures are much much better than QVCs for ordering without seeing a presentation.
I will retry the two sizes and figure out which will give the most options as you suggest.
Enjoy your holidays.
Laura
Louis, I just picked up two really great pieces of yours on ebay. One was a terrific little black cardigan – very nice knit, button front with dyed to match buttons, little collar, patch pockets, gathered across the back yoke. Looks like a retro French painter’s smock – super cute. The other was a black tunic sweater with a split collar and your signature embroidery radiating from the collar to form a yoke-like effect in front. Just terrific with slim jeans and black boots! Both had a marking “sample” on the inside (undetectable unless you look inside); both were amazing buys.
So perhaps an ebay seller is getting samples of yours that were made but the Q did not pick up? It’s a shame – both pieces are really, really cute and I think they would have sold like hotcakes!
Dear enjay,
I’m sure you are right. If they have sample marked on the inside they were samples not purchased by QVC. Glad you liked them…..they are one of a kind pieces…….Louis
Dear Louis,
I’m finally dressed in … SPRUCE GREEN! My waitlisted 2X Jacket arrived this morning, and it fits like a dream. Added to my 3X skirt, which also fits me perfectly, it is the most gorgeous suit … and so perfect to travel with, I told Walter (aka Grumpy) we must buy tickets to somewhere just so I can pack this in a suitcase … I think it’s destined for an April wedding in Washington state. Now if Q can just find me the Black Jacket … I picked up the Boucle skirts with satin piping and godets in both colors the other day; those are fantastic! I’m going to try the green one with this jacket too; not sure about the textures, but worth a try. Those skirts look absolutely divine with the Bow Neck Sweater too!
Thanks again and Happy Holidays,
Cathy in PA
louis
wil a reorder be coming in on the fly front slim leg pant,a217972,i was only able to get one pair before the sell out. Also if i take a small in regular what size would i take in the petite, since they are available….love the pant…happy holidays…jackie
Dear jackie,
I haven’t been told if those pants will be reordered yet. I probably won’t know for a few months. If you are a small in the regular you should be a small in the petite too…………Louis
Does the black pucker skirt match the black cowl neck pucker top and is it the same material, also will the black skirt coloring/fabic work with the black/silver faux suede jacket. Thanks Louis!
Dear Tylerpoo,
I am so glad you asked this question because I think it is something all the Linea Ladies should know. The fabrics of the pucker cowl top and the pucker suit are very different. They are the same in fiber content but, the pucker cowl top is a lighter weight fabric and the puckering pattern is different. It is more open and flatter. I LOVE THE TWO TOGETHER! I think the combination of the two textures is wonderful and something designers are always trying to achieve. With the faux suede jacket over the two pieces….you have one gorgeous outfit!!!
Have a wonderful Hoilday……………Louis
I just received the bow tie sweaters in chartreuse and ivory colors. I was apprehensive about the chartreuse because of my coloring– olive skinned– but I would say it looks great on me!! To my eyes it looks like a light olive and will coordinate with some of the olive items I already have from you. I plan on playing with the bow as a lariat or see how the bow looks tied lower on the body rather than at the neckline. Thanks again for the beautiful clothing!
Chris
I am new to this, but I just want you to know how very much I appreciate the fit, design and quality of your clothing line. I am a junior high teacher in the Pacific Northwest, and I am usually at school by 6:00 AM; just want you to know that I really appreciate that I can have a Nordstrom wardrobe on a JC Penney’s budget! I read the suggestion re:totally separating a wardrobe by compartments-and at 4:00 AM that strategy has saved my sanity! Thank you and Happy Holidays!!!
Hi Louis. I just thought you should know that I just received your red riding jacket…with a Joan Rivers label sewn into it. I doublechecked all the details on the Q’s website and doublechecked the item number sewn into the jacket and yup…it’s definitely yours and it definitely has Joan’s label on it. Just thought you should know! By the way, the jacket is beautiful!
Dear rarejan,
I have notified my manufacturer of this and she has notified the factory. Obviously, JR is having some manufacturing done out of the same facility and a mistake was made. No doubt, one day, a Linea label will find its way into a JR’s jacket.
…………………….regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
Well I have received everything I had ordered and OH MY !! Gorgious, yummy and devine are the words I would describe these bow sweaters I ordered ! I also received my perfectly pink vest front sweater and the black blouse. They have my name written all over them.
As far as the bow sweaters go–I was wondering if, because of the lighter yummy weight of these sweaters–would it be possible to do them for Spring in a Frosted Lilac, a pale lime green and maybe a pretty yellow??!! I would by all of them as well, like I did with the December bow sweaters.
Merry Christmas to you and Jac and the girls
Shari in Michigan
Hi Louis, You are a dear, a lovely man, and the classiest designer. I have no complaints–are you kidding me!!!—just wish there was more of you on QVC! Anyway, I read somewhere that you wanted to know if we had any problems with quality on your items since we are the ones wearing the garments. Well, no biggie, but the buttons are popping off of the velvet tunic, even though it looks like they are securely fastened with plenty of thread. I had 3 pop off within 20 minutes of putting on the gorgeous “top.” This will not keep me away from you AT ALL, I will easily deal with this, but thought you might want to know. Thanks for all you do, for designing with “love”, and for sharing your talents with us. You are very appreciated! Have a lovely holiday with all the girls!
Your biggest fan in Ohio, Max
Dear Maxine,
I do want to know if there are problems so I can inform QVC and my manufacturer, where ever the problem may be. “The Button Problem” seems to be one that never gets fixed! This is an on going complaint, and quite frankly I don’t understand why. I have samples from Anne Klein that are 20 years old and the buttons are very secure. I don’t know why the people at the factory can’t sew a button on to a garment so it doesn’t fall off! I will tell them of your complaint, but in all honesty I have issued this complaint many times. PLEASE, when you receive a garment make sure the buttons are secure so you don’t lose any.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday season and a wonderful New Year!…….Louis
Louis, JMHO, the loose buttons issue isn’t so much the labor, but rather the thread. I notice that the quality of thread has gone down hill over the years. This is especially true of garments made in Asia. The threads they use to construct Linea garments are superior to much of what we see in the marketplace, but the button thread is not so good. Heavy buttons, especially those with metal shanks will cut low-quality thread in one wearing. When I have time, I re-sew all of my buttons with button and carpet thread, vintage thread from my archive or, if I don’t have a match, with fine opaque monofilament fishing line.
Louis, I so hope you don’t mind if I jump in here with a little tip, as the buttons flying off seems to be a problem common across the board in the garment industry. In any craft/sewing/fabric store (for example JoAnn’s), you can get a little bottle of something called Fray Check. Turn your garment inside out, so you can see where the button threads are sewed through. Put a drop or two of the Fray Check on a little dish or saucer. Use a toothpick to put a tiny tiny TINY drop on the thread cluster on the back of the garment, where it won’t show. Lay flat and let dry for a couple of hours or overnight before wearing. It’s particularly worth doing this when a garment has really special, unique buttons that would be very difficult to replace.
Be very careful not to drop any on the front of the garment; although it should dry clear, occasionally with some fabrics it does leave a darker mark. Do NOT use the little squeeze top of the bottle; the liquid is thick and you’ll get too much. It won’t stop metal buttons from cutting threads, but it will greatly extend the life of other buttons. I’ve even used it to secure the backs of sewn on beads and sequins, or the edges of a fine silk scarf with a fringed edge to keep it from raveling, but it’s a tricky operation, with some risk of leaving a mark, but compared to losing a garment, sometimes worth the risk. On my silk scarf, it took three or four days, but the slight dark line along the edge did disappear when completely dry, and no more fraying!
Of course, if the button is already off, you’re back to the needle and thread. So far, I’ve never had a button problem with Linea. Hope this helps, Happy Holidays to our Linea family!

To Jac, Louis and the girls i hope all your christmas wishes come true. Voodoo
What a great haul I made during your December visit! Wow, wow, wow! The biggest surprise to me–the faux suede pieces. I have the shirt and skirt in both the expresso (delicious) and purple (juicy), as well as the avocado skirt that I will wear with olive on top. I had no idea how much I would love those pieces. Keep bringing us that fabric. It’s so wearable and flattering. It hides a multitude of sins, as they say.
I hope your visit was a success. Any news on the jewelry??? We’re longing for more. I’m expecting someone to start chasing me down the street to get the Byzantine necklaces. Everywhere I go wearing those, I get ooh’s and aah’s. I feel like a Romanov wearing them
Loving my Linea and looking forward to January,
Carol aka crdlb
Louis thanks so much for your latest! Enjoying my choices.
I do have a request–would love a boho skirt in cassis, to wear with the raspberry (cassis) python top. I could think of many ways to wear a cassis boho! I do have 3 pencil skirts but actually rarely wear a skirt except for your bohos and the tiered. While talking bohos…..do we have a new color to look forward to? Please keep cassis in mind for next year. Thanks and happy holidays. Sincerely, Sandi
Hi Louis, a very Merry Christmas to you and Jac and your family, I want to chime in and request a cassis jacket of some sort– maybe a black with cassis trim or cassis by itself so that we can do a suited look with the python top or the pencil skirt If this is at all possible.
Regards,
Chris
Hi Louis,
Just received my purchases from your shows yesterday (Saturday). Even though I order at midnight of the day you present the line and live less than an hour from the QVC Studio, my purchases take forever to get to me. Had to write to let you know the new pant (side zip flat front) fits like a dream. Love the leg width. I purchased a number of the last pant you did (fly front contour pant) and really liked that fit as well. I usually have great difficulty with pants–yours, regardless of style, seem to fit. So when I find a something that works with my body, I buy many of them. (My husband does not understand why I need so many pants.) I couldn’t be happier. Also ordered two of the 3/4 sleeve tunics and am extremely happy with them as well. Just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your talent and ability to design. I will continue to purchase as much as my budget allows. Thank you.

Dear Lois,
It’s good to hear you are pleased with your purchases, especially the pants which are always tricky. Have a wonderful Holiday……………Louis
