Hello Louis,
I just rec’d some of my items from the last show. I really loved the tribal print jacket, infact so much so I just ordered the olive after receiving the navy. I had a quick question, would the brown pull on pants from the last show, go with the sneak peak blouse that you had on Angela (almost like the lili blouse) paired with the sand pants? Thankyou, i loved everything and I am in the process of writing my reviews.
Hi nikki,
The print blouse Angela was wearing was black and sand and would not really go with espresso pants. I have sand pebble crepe pants and black pants that would work.
Dear Louis,
All my 16 items have shipped. Let’s hope that this time they send me the correct sizes. I would like to ask for more whisper knit tanks. They are fabulous and I would love to have a white one and of course perfectly pink. Thank you for such wonderful shows.
Do you think they’ll let you do the black jacket again with silver trim?????
Dear njlady.
I’m afraid the answer is no, first they aren’t reordering black in that jacket and if they did it would have to be exactly like the original. Any black jacket with silver trim would have to be a new item…….Louis
Show it with long sleeves & gunmetal trim
Women could roll cuff so arm length wouldn’t matter
so many ladies on the community forum say how much they love it
gr8 in khaki with the brushed bronze
Dear Louis,
Loved your show. Received the Khaki jacket with the bronze trim. Its fantastic. Hope it did well & QVC will let you
bring back with muted silver or gunmetal zippers – maybe in long sleeves. LOVE it & want in black
Thanks.
Are you going to have a TSV in your future?????
No…..no TSV’s happening for Linea. Glad you like the khaki jacket!
Louis, is the espresso butterfly sweater a good match with the mocha boho? I am wondering if the length of the sweater is long enough to cover the shirred top layer of the espresso georgette skirt. I don’t have either of the skirts in those colors, so I can’t compare apples to oranges so to speak. Thank you for your help and congratulations on your successful shows!
And to expand on Terri’s question, if you didn’t want to wear the butterfly sweater over another article of clothing, should you go down one size on this butterfly cardigan or would you risk any gapping at the bustline or elsewhere? How fitted a look does this cardigan impart?
Dear Chris,
This is a lighter weight sweater than the cheetah print from last year. I have not found it to be big in any way and since it is lighter in weight it has more drape to it than the cheetah. I would stay with your regular size. I see no reason to size down. I really hesitate giving fit advise because everyone likes their clothes to fit differently. That said……I think the cardigan is true to size….not big….not small.
Dear Terri,
The espresso butterfly sweater is an excellent match with the mocha boho……they look GREAT together. Actually, both skirts look good with the cardigan, but since you don’t have either…..I’d go with the mocha. The colors in the sweater have a softness which looks really pretty with the soft mocha. The espresso is deeper and more of a contrast with the cardigan. There is espresso in the print so they do work. If you had owned the espresso already I would have said you don’t need the mocha , but since you own neither, as I said, go with mocha. If your size isn’t there [I don’t know what the avail. is], they have been reordered…………Louis
I am a big fan of your clothing line. I have gained weight and having problems determining my correct size on blazers. If the blazer sizing shows 38 and I am 38 is that big enough or do I need to allow more room sinc the blazer will be worn over a top.
Dear HeartofDE.
If your body size is the same measurement as the jacket size you need to size up one to have some room to layer something under it……regards, Louis
Louis,
I missed the Kate shirt last year and am waiting for a return. Will it be coming back soon or did I miss it again?
Dear Broomstick…..curious name! I’m sure there is a story behind it. Fear not……you have not missed the KATE shirt! It is due in July and I will be bringing back the white and chambray blue [a true mens wear shirt color] and a new color. Always check my “sneak peeks” for the month and you will get all the info you may need concerning what is coming in Linea…..regards, Louis
Thank you…. I think I need two, one white and one color. I just bought the Robyn and Poet and love them both!
The name Broomstick came about because I saw a post from someone named Boomerchick and thought it said Broomstick. I decided to take the name as it reminded me of my childhood and my brother teasing me about being so thin. He called me broomstick, string bean, and Olive Oil!
Happy Anniversary! Some way to spend you anniversary. I don’t know if you remember Bravo Knits. I used to be the asst. sales mgr. there (J. Cami) about 34 years ago. That’s when clothing, appliances, etc. were made of great quality. People cared and were proud of their products, as you are today!!!!!! I hope your celebration was wonderful and you shopping was successful. I can’t count how many pcs. I bought yesterday. I hope you and Jac are well. Take care!
A successful day! double oven purchased and washer/dryer too. WOW, I had no idea how much ovens cost these days. I told Jac we should just Bar-B-Q!!!!We had a very nice Anniversary dinner…..thank you, Louis
Louis, I ordered the red bateau neck sweater recently. You were right on. The red color was great. However, (this is totally about me and not your items) something is changing in my body with age and the sweater just did not lay properly on my body, so had to return it.
Did just order the “Lily” blouse in white. Love Love Love the peplum. Sure this will be great for Spring/Summer. Have a request: Would love to see silvertone zippers, buttons, etc. a little more often. I only wear white metals since I purchased a gorgeous tanzanite/diamond ring 10 years ago which is my signature every day piece of jewelry (even though retired now). The gold does not stop me from ordering from your line, but just needed to mention my preference. You are an awesome designer; and even more awesome for taking the time to go over details of your line with us. Really appreciate the time you devote to helping out.
Thanks for listening.
Mr. Dell’Olio,
I am so sorry I missed your shows because I missed out on my favorite mock neck short sleeve sweater(A87423). I would have ordered the perfectly pink since this is the only color I don’t own. As the other viewers I also would pay any price for this sweater so I hope you can bring it back in the future. I love your clothes and I did order several other sweaters on QVC. Thanks again for your wonderful line.
Hello Mr. Dell’Olio,
Love your clothes, so chic! Some of the jewelry the models wear is not available on QVC. Can you help me solve the mystery? One piece was very outstanding to me, it was a long gold necklace in a fish shaped link with matching earings, exquisite.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Respectfully
Monica Lozier
Dear Monica,
They are pieces I did for my Anne Klein Couture jewelry line years ago. They are vintage and part of my collection…………..regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
Would you mind telling me if you designed the vintage “signed Anne Klein” necklace I got in this morning’s mail from “the Bay”? It’s a long snake chain, and the pendant at the bottom is an adorable articulated fish skeleton, and the bail is a fish hook, all done in that wonderful matte gold finish. It just looks like it belongs to your vintage fishes collection?
Thanks for all the wonderful clothes, and a special “Happy Anniversary” Thanks to Jac too!
Cathy BACK in PA
Dear Cathy,
It’s hard for me to say without seeing it. I have seen “versions” of the “school of fish” group that I did for AK. My fish all had a chain running through each section from the head to the tail. They also all has stone eyes on each side of the head. They were very flexible and all were gold plated. I did do 2 or 3 styles with fish hooks………Louis
I enjoy your programs and your programs are the only ones, I record and watch on QVC.
I love the way the models are styled in your clothing.
Dear Louis,
I just want to say thank you for the work you do photographing the clothes for the Sneak Peeks, and giving me item numbers and information. It really gives me a lot of time to plan my purchases.
Ha. No matter how I plan, there is nothing like seeing them styled on the models. Who look nothing like me 🙂 but I can dream, can’t I?
I love Navy blue, and bought the Navy Swing Jacket (my 3rd after White and Turquoise), and the Navy crepe blazer with the Linea buttons. Also ordered those beautiful mock necks in Perfectly Pink and Black. Wonderful pieces that I will wear and wear, and wear.
I hope you and Jac made it safely home to your pups.
Thank you for all you do,
Mary/Shopsy
Those jersey pants are exactly the way I wanted them to. The will be travel staples. Thanks so much.
crdlb
Louis,
I loved your show today, and purchased many things. I’m very excited about the new tribal knit cardi and pant. This will be great for travel! I also purchased the skirts and a blazer. Jac looked lovely as always. You both do a tremendous job when you’re on the Q. It’s the fastest hour ever! Thanks again for all that you do!
Love,
Susan
hello
I got home for a long trip at 10:00 last night. Waiting for me was a pile of Linea from your last show. I was too tried to try it on but as I was undressing for bed decided to just throw on the terra cotta top and the navy Lily which had come packaged together. The terra cotta is beautiful, different, artsy, and a winner, all things we have come to expect from LDO, the Master, but I had to come here and tell you that the Lily is a Revelation! Who knew I had such a rocking body? Surely not me! Only you, Louis, can take cotton, and thread, and zippers, and make an exhausted woman look and feel like a million damn bucks! That top in Navy made me look like I’d just had 2 B-12 injections and a shot of Petron! How can we ever thank you for making us LOVE the way we look Louis???
Jules
Good morning Louis,
Will there be any new tanks coming in a gray color (dark or light) this spring in the WK fabric?
Save travels to PA.
Chris
No Chris…..the only other tank is a natural linen color with black flecks.
I finally received the rest of my “loot” from the last show and I have to tell you, I adore that cobalt jacket!! Those buttons are awesome – seriously!! That jacket is so cute, fit me perfectly (I’m busty with narrow shoulders – not always ez to fit in jackets) and is so flattering! I also received the Terracotta Tunic — love the color, love the fabric and again, the fit was fabulous! I’m hoping that you’ll bring more pieces in that color — I’m waiting for that print blouse with the ruffled sleeves that you sneak peeked for sure! I’d love a knee length straight skirt in that fabric too… or some cute button front ankle pants?? Oooh – just had a thought – terracotta denim…that would be fab!!
Dear Louis, Just wanted to mention something re the dry cleaning. I heard you on a presentation many years ago, long before a forum or anything, to have a jacket dry cleaned for that really polished look. (or something to that effect) I took your words to heart and ever since then have always had my Linea jackets dry cleaned. The cotton sateen, animal, medallion, older cotton safari, everything. They look fantastic and it’s really not very expensive. I have them cleaned when they are brand new (personal quirk) and then after the season, not after each wearing. There is just ‘something’ about the professional cleaning. Your jackets deserve it!! Just wanted to finally thank you for mentioning this so many years ago. Sincerely, Sandi
Dear Sandi,
I appreciate you reply. I really don’t like to tell women I think they should spend more money on dry cleaning, but in the long run I think it does pay. You are so right when you say how often you really need to dry clean a jacket….not to often. I think washing too much can break down a fabric and change the finish, but that’s just my opinion……regards, Louis
I absolutely agree with you about dry cleaning your jackets.Dry cleaning does keep the jacket fabric fresh and looking new. I save so much on your pieces, that the money I spend for dry cleaning. is for me, money well spent.
I am not tough on my clothes, so my cleaning regime is like Sandi’s… pretty limited. I clean when I purchase and again, at the end of the season before I put a seasonal items away. The great thing about having so many gorgeous Linea sweaters and jackets,no particular item doesn’t get worn to death.
Hi Louis, I just received the red and white cotton sateen floral print jacket today, A199262. I’m a neutrals and solid girl most of the time; but, this jacket has been calling me for some time. All I have to say is WOW. When I opened the package, I couldn’t quit smiling. It really brightened my day. What a great outfit with denim or white crops/capris. LOVE my new jaceket…thanks for all you do for me/us. Sherry
Dear Sherry,
I’m very happy to hear you stepped out of the box and tried something different. I understand totally when you say your a neutrals kind of gal. 8 times out of 10 I pretty much stick to neutral colors myself, but every once in a while I’ll wear a colored La Coste and everyone says “that’s a great color on you”. Stepping out of the box is good for the soul…….regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
I have A199799, your medallion scroll print top in all 3 colors & love them! Will your new A221815 jersey pants in either olive or espresso match the khaki/sage top?
Thanks,
Dariann
Dear Dariann, They aren’t going to match, but they certainly will work with the tops. The pants are darker, which is fine.
Dear Louis,
I just received your A213327 in Khaki with zippers 3/4 sleeve.
I am in love, i am happy with the bronze buttons & zipper detail. I have eyed since missing out last year.
I still would love in black with silver zippers.
Maybe long sleeves, it would be dynamite.
Thanx for considering it.
Hi NJ lady. would you consider the A216528 which has been reordered in black with the gunmetal zippers and buttons…..it has long sleeves, ias in the same fabric and will be avail in July…….Louis
That is nice BUT it doesn’t give me the same WOW that A213327 does.
That will give you compliments, its gorgeous.
Also, some comments said it shrunk when washing, would you recommend dry cleaning?
Hope you can do in silver zippers in black long or 3/4 sleeve
PLEASE – its customer top rated!
I always think dry cleaning keeps the jackets in better shape. There is nothing like a professional press. I know some may think it’s sacrilegious to say dry clean when it’s a washable garment but I sand all my chino pants and cotton jackets to the dry cleaners….so does Jac…..just MHO.
Thank you
I will send to the clearers BUT any chance you would consider black with silver zippers?????
It originally came in black but they didn’t reorder it for some unknown reason.
I know But maybe you can change it up with the silver & long sleeves & QVC would consider it
its worth a try – PLEASE
Louis,
I have it in the gunmetal and it looks rich and very high end. I have loads of 18K jewelry that i rarely wear anymore ….I turned into a silver girl with Judith Ripka’s things…however, your jewelry has gotten me to wear more gold lately..
But I am kind of butting into the conversation about silver zippers on the suit. I had thought I would have liked that silver option too…. until I saw the gunmetal. That’s when I realized it can be very tough to do silver zippers and it not look cheap (at that is just my opinion) it is difficult to make silver zippers look expensive and upscale. For me the gunmetal was an excellent alternative to keep the suit looking like a very expensive item.
So glad to hear that – I totally missed that one in the black!!
Dear Victoria,
I know what you are saying, but I feel if the silver is done correctly it will not look cheap. The gunmetal is very toned down and works with everything, especially prints, but when you want a very modern cutting edge look, Silver can be very effective…..and I’m a gold person!I especially like bright silver with white. Then I do white and have to chose…I have a struggle with myself….gold, silver, gold, silver, gold……….Louis
Gunmetal or silver zipppers.
Just to give it a different feel.
Hope you’ll get a chance to do because the jacket is gorgeous.
I know you can do silver well. I have your black Anorak with silver and I also have your Sage Anorak with Gold…and they give me the opportunity to wear both my gold and silver jewelry…I think the Sage Anorak may be my favorite purchase from you and that is saying quite a bit, because I have many many of your pieces that I adore …It is 12.51 am on Friday Morning and I have just bought another boatload…all three colors in the African Print jacket with matching pants, the navy tank in a smaller size, and the olive and navy butterfly sweaters and the Khaki zipper jacket, Pale Sand Tank and sand trousers and the Chino Shirt/Roby
Oh Louis, will the Olive Shantung shirt/jacket go with these new olive pants?…going to bed so I can watch you at 6 am…:)) thanks Louis
Dear Louis, Thank you for the updates. I am so sad about the Butterfly not landing on Feb. 3rd. We’ll be on vacation from mid-Feb. until early March, about 3 weeks, so I’ll probably miss it later on in the month. I take the popular size M which always sells out. Is there any way to persuade the buyers to bring in more M and S of everything–from sweaters to pants to–everything?? I know many things are out of your control. When we get back I’ll be sure to check on the Butterfly. See you on Friday! Safe travels. Sincerely, Sandi
I just received the Lily tops! It is so flattering and really gives me a nice shape. I ordered up a size because I carry my weight a bit more in the middle and that was THE thing to do.It is roomy and not clingy, very comfortable fit. The fabric is so soft, I will enjoy wearing these. I normally wear a Linea Large so these were XL. I posted up on the Forum that I thought this blouse would be amazing in faux shantung in some vibrant colors for Fall 2012. I know I would be buying those for sure. Fit and Flare design is such a flattering style, I hope we can see more of this in the future. THANK YOU!!
Hello, Louis
I am loving the butterfly sweater. I have a question about the navy combo. I can’t tell if the ribbon and accent color in the print is the new pale lavender or the frosted lilac. You mentioned in your description “lilac”. Would you please confirm which color top would go under it – the frosted lilac from last summer or the new shell in pale lavender? I’m hoping the former because I can’t wear your new shell since it is so much shorter than the 27″ whisper knit tank (3X). 27″ is the minimum length I can go with on a top to have it cover my waistband. Which is why I couldn’t order the embroidered lace sweater either, as beautiful as it is. I was so glad to see the butterfly sweater looks like it will be longer. You always take such care to provide options for all heights of your Linea Ladies. Thank you!
Deborah
Dear Deborah,
They both blend, but the frosted lilac tank with the little ruffle edging the neck line works best……………….Louis
Hello Louis,
I check your blog every day and see espresso brown mentioned a lot but I dont see anything in stock that color. Are you bringing out some more espresso colored items soon? Would love a crew neck sweater in it!! I love your sweaters, keep them coming!
Hopefully for fall……Louis
Dear Louis, Love the new, and am eagerly awaiting 2 favorites in the new color(s) Do you know yet which months the baby cheetah V neck in perfectly pink, and the mesh yoke blouse in (was it pale lavender and sand? or?) will be? I’ve finally started taking notes here re months and colors (and do understand things are subject to change) Would appreciate knowing the months of those 2 favorites though if you have that info by now. Thank you most sincerely, Sandi
Hi Sandi,
They will both be on my April show. The new colors for the mesh shirt are Pale Lavender and Sand.
Thanks Louis! I see in my notes that you mentioned the cotton sateen crops will also be on in April. Lots to look forward to! (besides taxes lol)
Dear Louis,
My list keeps getting longer for your shows next week! Can you tell us more about A221815, your new jersey relaxed pants? They sound sound like a dream and should be great for travel.
See you & Jac next week,
Dariann
another question — I have the perfectly pink blazer with the pearl buttons from last spring — will the new paisley skirt go with it? Thanks so much for the beautiful clothes.
Hi Judy…..if you recall, I showed the blush paisley skirt with the P.Pink vest cardigan on Jac and the colors look great together. I looked at the jacket with the skirt and it looks great with the paisley too as would the new p. pink mock neck and faux de chine p. pink shirt…..you have many options to wear with your pink jacket. The pink mock with the jacket and black or navy bottoms would be a whole other look. Tonal gives you a very soft feminine look…..a strong contrast will give you a more sportswear look.
……………..Louis
Dear Louis, Thanks for your reply. I just ordered both the paisley skirt and blouse. I also have the PP mock neck as well as the jacket so I can make different outfits, as you suggested. I love all the sneak peaks. I have the python wrap top and I love the fit of it as well as the jersey fabric so I am looking forward to the new jersey pieces. Do the jersey pants come in Petite, or if not, can they be shortened without ruining the line? Thanks again
Dear Judy,
The pants do not come in petite. They are easy to shorten and it will n ot spoil the line at all. It’s the same fabric as the python top so these pants are a natural……..Louis
Let me see….what more can I tell you. You own the fabric already so you know the feel. The leg is fluid with an approx. 11 1/2 bottom opening. This is not a skinny jersey pant. What I particularly like about these pants is there isn’t an abundance of fabric on the top which so many pull-on pants have. There is enough to get it easily over the hips without a lot of excess shirring. The leg opening is wider than I would make in a tailored fabric but because the fabric has a lot of drape and fluidity it’s not over done. They are great for travel, which I know you do, easy to pack, easy to wash, very light weight, cool to the touch, great deep colors…..with a bag of chips what more would one need?…I guarantee, if you like the pant on….you will want them in every color…Louis
Thanks for the detailed description. Do these pants have the standard 32-inch inseam?
Hi MH-MN,
My sample actually measures a little longer, but I measured them hanging not laying flat.
Longer, Yay! Thanks, as always, for the fast response. These are must-haves! The saturated colors are just wonderful.
Dear Louis: Thanks for the great clothes. I am 5’3 an weigh 110 lbs. Pleaseeeeeeeeee make some skinny pants. Not slim but skinny. I’m sure there are other people out there that would love a real skinny casual/ dress pant. No one really wears dress pants anymore. Even when we go the the theater (we live in the city) I don’t really get dressed up anymore. I don’t wear jeans but would love some new pants from you. Thanks again for your great line. One more request. Please bring more pieces. It’s a race to get your clothes, even if order ahead of time. It’s a new world. Stay well and enjoy life. I recently had Pancreatic surgery for the second time, so I know what I’m talking about! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Again, thanks for your classic line.
Dear M. Graham,
First…..I hope you are feeling better and I will pray that you make a complete recovery!!!!
Everyone’s definition of “skinny” is different. Do you mean a jegging? What would the bottom measurement, or bottom leg opening be? They would have to be in a Ponte knit type of fabric for a proper fit. Just keep in mind anything I do has to fit an xxs to a 3X………….Louis
Thanks for answering me back. I’m feeling better, day by day! You are so sweet, thank you. I’m not looking for a jegging. I’m looking for something that can be worn casual but really more dressy (if that’s a word). A Ponte Knit would be fine and the bottom opening I think (I’m not you ) should be 11 inches. A look that Audrey Hepburn or Kathrine Hepburn would wear but with heels. If anyone could make this garment, you could! I understand you are there to sell clothes but your garments give us so much pleasure. I can buy garments anywhere in the city but I prefer your line. Take care, enjoy life and try not to work to hard.
Hi Louis … a pants question: I think I remember you blogging that you would be doing more slim pants in the future. Is that future coming soon? (I hope!)
Not really…only the crop pant in navy, black and white which is slim. Of course for petite women they will be full length.
Thanks for the sneak peaks. Last year I purchased your white jacket with red piping. Do you think the new red skirt would work with that jacket?
Checked the samples and absolutely….the skirt works great. The red boat neck also matches perfectly….that said the sweater is brighter than the skirt so I’m not wild about the sweater and skirt together. For those who have the pink/navy jacket the navy skirt works, and for those who have the navy /ivory jacket the ivory skirt works……..it all works….Louis
Louis, I just wanted to make sure you knew.. the Lili shirt is PERFECT!
I got the white and navy in Medium.
My concern about the seam and my waist not matching was .. as you said.. not a problem.
The seam maybe comes a tiny bit above my normal waist but since the line curves around to the back.. it is absolutely lovely.
This shirt makes me look thin and elegant .. I love it!
Thank you again!
Dear Nancy…..That’s terrific. I know whoever gets this shirt ….and the fit is right for their body shape….is going to love it. Be sure you right your comments on the QVC Linea site!!!…………Louis
Not to worry Louis, my reviews are posted on the things I’ve gotten and love!
I’m getting another color in the very sophisticated lace knit cardigan..what a wonderful and perfectly made sweater this on is!
Also the great pebble knit top and skirt and the Poet shirt.
Now to get a list going for the weekend! Whew.. not a minute to rest!
Thank you again.
Ah, Louis:
One of those annoying color questions! I have the French Cuff jacket in navy; I think the new navy blazer is the same fabric, but is it the same shade of navy? Trying to decide if the navy skirt will work with my jacket as a suit, or do I have justification for getting both red AND navy jackets! 🙂
Dear jmarie…..how are things in Japan? First the fabrics are not the same even though they are both rayon/poly/span blends, they are different. The navies are not the same….of course similar…..but not the same……Louis
Things are….Japanese!:) We’re in the middle of a cold snap, first of the winter. I wish it could last all year so I could keep wearing my sweaters and jackets and suede!
So the fabrics are different? Can you describe the feel or weight or sense of how they’re different? Thanks!
Okay….I’ll try. Since you own the french cuff jacket you know how it feels. It is cool to the touch, has a smooth hand and is a little more drapy. The crepe has a warmer hand, almost like a light weight soft flannel. Could you wear the winter white pant in the poly rayon span from a few seasons back [same fabric as your jacket] with the new navy crepe blazer…yes they are compatible but not the same……Louis
Fabulously described! Arigatou Gozaimashita! 🙂
First I would like to thank you for the sneak peeks. They give me time to think over what will work best with what I have so I can continue to build my Linea wardrobe. I am interested in the new jersey pants and wonder how does the indigo color work with your navy. Will you be bringing us a navy pant this spring?
Dear Carol,
Then navy of the crepe blazer and the navy of the poly/span jersey are very similar but not an exact match. To my eye the pant is a little darker. I want you to totally understand what this pant looks like…..it is not a tailored pant like the sand, lavender and black pant I just had on. This fabric is the same as the cheetah, medallion, and Hydrangea T- shirts….so it is very drapy. It is a pull-on pant. Paired with the blazer it has a dressy look. It looks great with the boat neck sweater I also just sold. It was done to match a new print top that will be my next sneak peak!………Louis
Also……The only other navy pant is a cotton sateen crop pant, zip front, back elastic and pockets, NAVY, WHITE, BLACK coming in April.
Dear Louis,
I’m wondering if the new jersey pull-on pant in indigo is a match to the new navy crepe blazer from Sneak Peek#1 for Feb. show?
Thank you, Inna.
Dear Inna,
Please read my response to Carol above…..it answers your question.
Just wanted to say my green pea coat arrived today and it’s a winner! I think the cut is generous on the size. while the greens are not exact, I do like it with the butter hydrangea skirt. I plan on wearing this a lot–including with your upcoming white pants–on my cruise to Greece in June. Can’t wait to see the next show…the orange color jacket is perfect for The Netherlands (where my husband is from)so I may have to indulge in that as well. also can’t wait for the new dress…will it have sleeves? curious as I’d need a jacket or wrap to wear touring churches. Thanks again for all you do–and for us being able to converse with you.
Louis, I’m sorry if I buried the question, but this does affect which of the sweaters I might get in the next show…will the bronze “Faux Shantung” dress have sleeves? It’s a definite yes for my cruise. If it doesn’t I’m leaning towards one of the butterfly wing sweaters to cover it up. Please let me know? Thanks as always for your assistance. Kristen
The dress has roll-up sleeves with a tab and button. I do not see the butterfly sweater being worn over these dresses…they both stand on their own…………………Louis
roll up sleeves will be perfect! I think I’m getting one for me (the bronze) and the other color for my mom. Just was thinking if it was a sleeveless type. Perfect. Thanks for the quick response. It will be a summer workhorse in my wardrobe! 🙂
Louis, I’d like to know the answer to Deb’s question below too regarding the upcoming ivory jacket. I was going to get the pea jacket but maybe I’ll go for the new one instead. Thanks!
Dear Louis,
I am a larger woman who often has difficulty finding jackets that I like and are flattering to my figure. I have 2 of the Linea by Louis Dell’Olio Stretch Cotton LeopardPrint Jackets in size large and love them. Have you ever considered making this same jacket in solid colors? I really think it would be a hit with the QVC audience. Black, Navy, Ivory, Coral, etc. Thanks!
I have considered doing it in a solid color but in a different fabric…..the sketch has been submitted for sampling……no promises…….Louis
Wouldn’t that be amazing in the faux shantung? Hope Q likes it.
Louis, can you share what fabric the new medallian top is made from? Thank you.
Wait, I’m an idiot!! LOL, I just saw that it is “still available” and it’s there! ORDERED. 🙂 Disregard the crazy Linea Lady. Thank you and this will be a knockout with the multi chain necklace!!!
Would LOVE this jacket in solids! Let’s hope the Q is smart about this one.
Hi Louis, Wondering if you will be bringing a new Boho skirt color this Spring? Thanks,
Debby
YES….two…….taupe and chili pepper…….coming in July.
Chili pepper … Chili Pepper … CHILI PEPPER ??? July show … July Show … JULY SHOW ??? And I’m going to New Mexico for Balloon Fiesta in October … as my little 4 year old grandson says “I HAVE TO DANCE!” :)))))
Cathy in PA
Hi Louis,
Great shows last week, and I’m looking forward to next Friday.
Question: Is the navy ballet neck sweater that I bought last week (and LUV) a match to the navy skirt you show in Sneak Peek #1 for the February show?
Thanks, as always, for your help!
Ann from Maryland
Hi Ann,
I would like to say they do….but….they do not match. The same navy was submitted to the knit mill and the fabric mill but due to the different compositions of the yarns they just couldn’t get them to match. The sweater is darker and a slightly different shade…….Louis
Dear Louis,
My goodies from the last show arrived today and they are all fabulous. I am delighted especially with the pink paisley two piece dress – I will get a lot of use out of it. I also ordered the lavender jacket and matching sleeveless shell and I love them both-I like the tone on tone look-I find especially flattering and slimming. I am not a pants person and I wonder whether it is possible to get a length of that same fabric to make a skirt of? Do you think the manufacturer would oblige? Just wondering. I love the fabric and the buttons are a class act! Many thanks,
Nara
Dear Nara,
The clothes are cut to order and the yardage is then ordered accordingly. What ever fabric is left is very minimal and is use to make new patterns so there is no waste. I will inquire for you but I seriously doubt It will happen. I would suggest getting the new skirt on my next show Feb 3rd. It is the same crepe fabric so it will definitely have a “suited” look. Both the navy and the ivory [to go with the ivory buttons] would look beautiful with the lavender…..Louis
Hello Louis,
Thanks for all my new clothes, I am putting all my reviews on qvc. I have a quick question: does the Lili shirt style work with the new crepe skirts coming in the feb show. On the last show you paired the lili shirt with a slim skirt and pants, so i was not sure if those two styles would work together or not? thanks for your input. regard
I have not seen them on together but I can’t see why they wouldn’t look good together. The skirt is slim through the hip and then flares so they should look good together…..add a platform peep toe sling back and it could look very 40s.
Louis–did you hear me squealing?? My loot arrived today, and the olive python jacket was first out of the box–love it–the material is just luscious. So sophisticated, yet casual. We NEED an olive skirt for all of these olive tops/jackets!
I’m also wondering if the new ivory a-line jacket is a match for the ivory chain print skirt? I received the ivory pea coat, which is great, but not with that skirt.
Lovin’ Lili too! No surprise there. Another great collection!
Okay…..I compared all the ivory pieces and this is the conclusion I came to
…………none of the ivories match! The ivory chain print ground has a pink caste compared to the swing jacket. This is what I think looks great. The ivory Pea jacket looks incredible with the navy chain print skirt an ivory or navy tank or the chain print shirt in navy….gold chain necklaces or just gold hoop earrings and WOW. Likewise the Cobalt Pea jacket over the ivory chain print also looks great….what I’m saying is don’t try to match….it’s not going to happen and actually, I think it looks better when it has a strong contrast…..
P.S. I agree….you all need an olive skirt………..Louis
Dear Louis, I have a Good Button Report for you!! Just brought the new pearl button blazers and the new khaki zipper blazer in to my seamstress, for button reinforcement–just something I have done each time. She said the khaki zipper blazer did NOT need to be reinforced–she inspected each button front and back, and said these are exactly as we would have sewn them, they’re perfect! Since there have been Button Issues in the past, I just wanted to give you some good news. The pearl button blazers would have been OK, but I left them just to be sure. By the way, I love all the new jackets, and now have 4 pearl button blazers. This is my first zipper blazer and oh am I in love with it. The hardware color is nice and subtle, I really like that. Thank you for converting me from hoodies!! (I kept a few for yard work lol) You’re the best. Sincerely, Sandi
Dear Sandi…..Thanks for the button news! Enjoy your new goodies…..and by the way Jac and I both wear hoodies though I don’t think you call them hoodies for men!
Oh good I’m glad to know that! We live on the water and wear them beach combing too. My husband calls his a hoody! I enjoy your waterfront pictures. We’re moving to the desert soon and will miss the water. See you next show!
Hi Louis!
Any idea when the aqua pebble crepe tunic A213621 will be available for us? It feels like it has been on waitlist forever! With our crazy Texas weather I am sure it will be warm enough to use it pretty soon! Thank you for all you do for us. Your clothes are a wonderful obsession!
Dear Terri,
The pebble crepe top is scheduled for my show on March 29th, but the wait listed items are usually shipped out earlier. Crazy Texas weather is right!!! What is going on down there?????I’ve been seeing 60s and 70s and rain and all kinds of wild weather……or was that not in your part of Texas? Did you have a winter yet?
Louis, the past two days we were about to bring out the ark, over 4 inches in my area. I live between Dallas and Fort Worth, the mid-cities. Today it is gorgeous, sunny, blue skies, 60 degrees! No ice storms yet, but there is always February to plow through; the Stock Show and Rodeo is in town, always a weather killer every year. One year we had even had snow on Valentine’s Day. So, basically, we have had a very mild winter, knock on wood as I say that! With the drought we are very happy to see the rain. Thank you for asking!
Hi Louis,
It’s Lois again–I wrote earlier today. However, I just received my second box of Linea. I first ordered the pea jacket in cobalt and then in a second order I needed to have the ivory. Again the sleeves–as I wrote earlier sleeves on the cobalt jacket looked silly on me since I am almost 6′ tall and they were short on me. I thought they must have altered the sleeve measurements since in past years I have not had this problem. But I just tried on the ivory jacket and they are much better. When I measured them, they were a full inch longer. So the good news is I will keep the ivory jacket. It is just a shame there is so much play with the measurements.
The Lilly shirt is fantastic. I now have the white and will order the other color as well, I can’t even remember what it is but I want it. All my other items are great as well.
Thanks again.
Lois
Dear Lois,
Thank for letting me know the situation with the sleeves! What can I say…..there is no excuse or reasonable explanation for such a mistake. There are markers on every pattern piece so the sewers should know where to sew. At this point I’m surprised the sleeves were the same length! I am so happy you like Lili!!!I know strange spelling, but our pup is a strange little girl…Please don’t forget to leave your remarks on the QVC Linea site…regards, Louis
More must have jackets! My closet runneth over. This fabric is phenomenal not only for the look and feel but the drape. I’m almost happy you had to stop running the wool boucle and were forced to find new fabrics. I just received the ballet neck sweaters yesterday, the first of my orders from your last presentation, and they are stellar.
Is this blazer cut the same as the chenille? I sized down on that one for a better fit for my particular body shape.
I loved the photo of the Sound in winter, very Ansel Adams, it gave me chills the weather looked so cold. My very best to you, Jac and the wee ones.
Dear designista,
The jacket isn’t cut like the chenille at all it is more on the lines of the pearl button jacket from the last show…..so it’s a smaller jacket. If you sized down on the chenille I would guess that you should get your normal size and not size down………..please check the click hear measurements….Louis
Thank you. Your reply is very much appreciated.
Hi Louis,
Loved your shows and of course the clothing. Again purchased more than I anticipated. However, I do have one question about the sleeve length on your jackets. For years I was able to buy any of your jackets with no problem–I am tall, almost 6′. Sleeve length and many of the jacket lengths were great. I had no problem. More recently, the jackets are looking short or skimpy on me. I really noticed it with the riding jacket and then with the chenille jacket. Today I received the pea jacket and the sleeves again seem to be shorter than I am used to. Is it me or has there been some adjustment to sleeve length. I really have to be careful not only with sleeve length but also jacket length. I am so disappointed since I love the fabric of the pea jacket and the styling.
Also looking forward to any of your jewelry if QVC decides to present it. Thanks for all your hard work. I really do appreciate your knowledge of fabric and design. Thanks.
Lois
Dear Lois,
To my knowledge there hasn’t been any change to the standard sleeve length measurement that QVC requires…..but I don’t keep track of those things as they are handled by my manufacturer. I can tell you that Jac and most of the models are in the 5 foot 10 inch area and the sleeves are always short on them…..especially that they wear xs or xxs for the fit……Louis
Dear Louis,
Is there a way to archive the Ask Louis section, the way it’s done in your blog? There’s a conversation on the Q forum about this. I think many of us use this section for valuable information, and would love to be able to access past threads.
Thank you,
Mary
Dear Mary,
I’m a complete moron when it comes to these things…..I can’t even work my I-Phone!!!! I’ll ask my computer geek that question…….Louis
Dear Louis,
I’m still using a Nokia ‘flip’ phone, so believe me, no geeks are impressed with my computer savvy, either.
But thanks for asking.
I bought my husband a mens suit, that you designed, at Syms in 2010. It wears wonderful and fits like a charm. As you may know, Syms is out of business and I would like to get him some more suits but cannot find who carries your line.
It would be great if QVC carries some mens clothes but whatever. I will appreciate your reply. Thanks.
The only place I sols suits was at Syms. Sy was a personal friend and that’s how that came about. I pulled out of Syms after he passed away. I did not like the management. Sorry, I am no longer in the mens suit business.
Hi Louis-
Are they the denim slacks I am seeing in the sneak peek #1 with the navy blazer? They look gorgeous, can’t wait for the denim items!
Louis,
All of your shows from last week were fabulous. I have many classics on the way and from the looks of the first sneak peak, there are others that will soon be on the way. At the risk of sounding like the child who finishes opening their Christmas presents and then remarks “you know what I want next year for Christmas?”, I have to ask, when are the denim pieces coming??? Although I wear professional attire on most every day, I have been longing for these pieces since you first mentioned them.
I also echo the sentiments of many of the others here, you ad Jac are real treasures. Your many many efforts to bring us classic wardrobe building pieces is appreciated every morning in my house. Keep ’em coming!
Many thanks,
Celtie
Hi Celtie,
The denim jacket and pant are coming in March.
Oh, I can’t wait. Thanks for the info!!
Must have that safari shirt dress. I have the jacket/top in both colors and it is one of my all time favorite articles of clothing. Absolutely love it with ivory colored silk slim cut pants. I can only imagine how a dress will look in that fabric. The bronze color has me written all over it, but the mossy olive sounds great as well. Anxiously waiting for the things I ordered last week to arrive, but living in the middle of the country in a small town, I am usually one of the last to recieve your things. It is fun to read all the reviews as I anxiously await my arrivals. Will be going to Florida the middle of Feb, so looking forward to packing the coral top, as well as the Lily shirt in both colors and the navy and ivory boat neck sweaters. I imagine the new python jacket in blue will be in the suitcase as well. Thanks for making availble your clothing line, especially for those of us who don’t live close to areas to find nice clothing. Closest really nice shopping area for me is about 2-2 1/2 hours away.
Dear farmerwife,
I have lived near or in NYC my entire life and can’t imagine living that far from a major store. I am so happy to be here for you and to bring to you a selection of clothing that I know is comparable to anything you may find 2 1/2 hours away!…………enjoy your new goodies……….Louis
Dear Louis,
Thank you so much for the wonderful shows last week. I’m very glad you and Jac made it home safe and sound! I love the shirt dress you did last year (have it in three colors), and wondered if you are bringing it back any time soon? I would love one in black; I’ve seen several companies doing simple black shirt dresses, but I know they won’t compare to yours.
I am so grateful for the quality and astonishing affordability of your designs, which always manage to be at once contemporary and classic.
Judy S. in Boston
Dear Judy,
I am not bring that exact shirt dress back as it was not reordered….however in either Mar or April, can’t remember, I will have a new safari shirt dress in the “Faux Shantung”. It looks incredible!! It could easily be a $400 to $500 dress in the store. It’s on the order of last falls safari jacket that I did in olive and sapphire…..only as a dress….It really is beautiful and incredibly made..
………………….Louis
Hello Louis,
Can you please give us a hint of what colors the new safari dress will be? I am looking forward to my many.. purchases from last week. Thankyou for my beautiful clothes.
The two colors I have chosen are …..being a safari dress…..a mossy olive and a deep khaki bronze. It’s very difficult to describe colors in the Faux Shantung because the fabric is so rich….what every color you dye in this fabric becomes even better and unique. For instance the sapphire blue shantung jacket…..if I dyed that color in another fabric it could have looked ordinary…..but in the shantung it just looked incredible.I think the dress is super chic, but we are getting way ahead of ourselves…..there are a lot of clothes to come between now and then……Louis
the bronze sounds wondeful! Looking forward to the white pants in March as well! 😉
Thanks for the info. I agree the faux shantung is extremely gorgeous and the sapphire jacket is incredibly beautiful in that fabric. I love to wear mine all the time. Can’t wait for the dresses and all the other new clothes from your collection. I look forward to all your shows.
Regards
OH, Louis! I love that faux shantung and have the olive and sapphire shirt/jackets. Of course, the mossy olive safari dress will be on my upcoming “must” list and deep khaki bronze sounds great, too. THANKS so much!–Blinddogs
Oh, thank you, Louis! I have that jacket in sapphire, and it is so lovely. The dress sounds perfect. Can’t wait for Spring!
Judy
Hi Louis
Just received the Reorder A213327 Notch Collar Blazer w/ Zipper Trim in the new color khaki. Love the color and trim. Since this color did not having a matching skirt- I was wonderiing if there was a skirt (old or new) that you thought looked best. I love this color with black, olive and maybe navy. The baby cheetah print in natural looks great with this jacket.
Enjoyed the shows- ordered much!
Marcia
Dear Marcia,
Glad you liked the jacket. It is so neutral anything will go with it from a white Kate Shirt white pants, or jeans to a black tank and black boho. It works with dresses like my olive shirt dress or my olive tank and crop pants…I can go on and on……enjoy creating lots of ways to wear it…..Louis
I received mine too – it looks great with red tank or sweater too! I like to try to cool down my khaki’s!
Thanks, Louis – another fabulous item!
Dear Louis, what a fab show!! I was able to watch all three of the shows and you did not disappoint. One of the many items that I got was the faux suede jacket with gunmetal piping, does the faux suede riding skirt match, same color and same material for the black, I wanted a suited look. You had it paired with the grey color skirt.
Thanks
Dear Tylerpoo, they are the same fabric and they do match…..Louis
Dear Louis and Jac,
Our little THANK YOU for the great shows over the weekend:
The Official Linea Live Show Request Thread on the forums reached 100 POSTS as of today, thanks to your many devoted followers, who so appreciate these beautiful clothes and jewelry, and the presentations and styling.
Thanks again,
Cathy in PA
Louis – Thank you so much for weathering the storm to bring us such fine fashions this weekend. I’m glad you and Jac made it home safe. I really enjoyed the shows, although I admit to watching only the videos for the 2 a.m. show – couldn’t make it. I purchased more than I planned as ususal – it’s just all so wonderful! I love my Linea wardrobe!
Are you taking votes for next year’s turtleneck colors? If so, I’d like it in aqua! I hope the v-neck comes back as well – more colors!
See you in the February shows!
Susan
Well if we’re voting, I vote for cappucino, chambray and emerald green.
Add my thanks for making that horrible car trip in such dangerous conditions. I grew up in the Midwest and remember some white knuckle rides in ice and blizzards. It’s exhausting.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
crdlb
Spruce Green for me, please!
Love the new color votes and I want to add espresso brown and the terracotta color. Has there ever been a navy done in the turtleneck? Add that color to the list too please!
Glad you made it safely home, we got about 3 inches here and our paths once shoveled today are now dry.
T-necks in navy and espresso please?
I’m glad you and Jac made it home safe and sound. You both deserve a good rest after the amazing shows.
As usual, I bought more than I planned on, but the garments were so beautifully made and styled. The pea jackets are exquisite (love the buttons!), the embroidered cardi, the skirts, the bateau tops, the python jacket in olive grabbed me right way, and so on and so on……………
I’ve been wearing and loving your winter collection. My PT has paid off and we got to go to NY around Christmas time. I rec’d so many complinments on your outfits! The coat check girl at one $$$ restaurant wanted to know “who I was wearing” …and I proudly told her. At another high end establishment, a total stranger complimented me on the PP sweater, blouse and skirt outfit, and mucho pearls and gold chains (Jac was wearing it today.
We were in Tiffany’s to exchange an item, the Associate loved the Byzantine necklace…she asked who made it, complimented the design and the “stones”.
Question: Is there any olive in the “lace” of the black embroidered cardi? I could see the brown, but I thought I saw an olive tone (probably wishful thinking.)
Many thanks for all that you do for us.
Judi
Dear Judi,
I am so happy YOU are happy with all of the things you have purchased. That “Tiffany” story is great….I may use it! The emb on of the lace is one color and it is sort of a taupe/sand color that I tried to get as complimentary to the sand pant as possible [I have to use colors from the emb. thread color card]. I can understand why you may have thought there was olive in it because the direction of the threads casts shadows as well as high lights, but I can assure there is only one color and it’s not olive…..Louis
You are more than welcome to use the Tiffany anecdote. Coming from an experienced employee it was high praise indeed! I hope we will be able to purchase the other Byzantine necklace and earrings at some date.
I thought the sweater might go nicely with the olive boho. No problem, I also have the black and brown bohos. I’ll see how the embroidery works with brown. It should also look well with the sand pants…and of course the paisley skirt you presented.
You give us so many choices!
Regards
Judi
Hi, Louis! Wonderful shows as always, although I bought more than I had intended. But what else is new LOL! Glad that you and Jac made it safely home and that Sammy enjoyed her first foray into the snow. Would you believe that my mare Pippa has been known to slide down a snowy hill on her rear?!! I was delighted to see that a new skirt will be coming in the crepe of the “button” jacket. Is the ivory the same color as the ivory button jacket in the same crepe I bought last year? Would make my day if it is! As always, Barbara
Dear Barbara…..I LOVE to make your day…..I hope the big R doesn’t get jealous! I checked my sample to make sure [I haven’t had the chance to check before this], but I would say the Ivory jacket with the pearls buttons from last spring and the crepe skirt [same fabric] in Ivory that will be on my Feb 3rd show are a match! I did give the factory the same color as a standard, but as you know from being in the business, there are always slight differences from dye lot to dye lot and especially year to year. I’m not saying they are exact exact, but to my eye…..they are a match! Oh happy day!………….Louis
Oh Happy Day indeed!!!! And R is getting into clothes for himself. Double Happy Day! He and his shopping buddy are planning another trip to buy some more clothes for themselves :-). They have decided it is OK for them to do that because “their man” in the men’s clothing store was quite a tight end in his day. We’re about to go out and he is fussing over what he is going to wear. Glory be…Barbara
Louis,
It’s been a wonderful weekend, watching as you unveiled your lastest masterpieces. As always, the models look their best when they are in your clothes. For instance, Kate was really “working” the paisley skirt with the embroideren lace sweater for all it was worth! Many of us know that magical feeling in your clothes. Thanks so much!
Celia
Celia…..YOU are always welcome!
Dear Louis & Jac,
Glad to hear you made it home safely. I am in Chicago area and I could not get home from work so camped out at the Holiday Inn. Sadly…they did not have QVC on their satellite system !!! Soooo….I was able to at least order the Lily tops, button down V neck and the crepe skirt. I am catching up on the item videos so I still get to enjoy. Nice presentation on the python tops and faux suede jackets. Do we have a brown turtle neck that is close to the expresso ponte skirt I’m thinking not…maybe in the Fall 2012 if the Q Gods get our “begging” threads on the Forum.
Thank you for everything you bring us, especially in bad snowy weather.
aka Mustang Shar
Hi Sharon,
The brown sweater I showed was a “vintage” WK turtle neck. The closest thing avail now is the silk/cashmere/span turtle neck. It’s a darker brown than the ponte knit skirt. I do agree it’s time to bring back a brown, but when I can only do one or two new colors a year, instead of five, it’s hard to make brown the priority.
Thank you.:) Maybe I will try the silk/cashmere blend brown. I liked the styling with the faux suede jacket, very sharp! I’d be happy with that. We do love our Linea. I’ll go check out that sweater.
You have to tell us when we can expect that stunning ruffled sleeve blouse you sneaked at 2am!!!
What colors will the skirt come in that you sneak peeked to us?
Sleeting now here on LI.
Dear Chris,
I’m assuming you mean the one Angela was wearing with the cobalt Pea jacket? The crepe gored short skirt will come in ivory [as Angela wore] navy and red.
That’s the one!! Thank you Louis.
Hi Kate,
Right now it is planned for the March show…..LDO
Can’t wait. So super pretty and girly-girl. Love it!
Seriously, I have to have that blouse!
Louis — I enjoyed each and every one of your shows. I have been a customer of yours from your very first show at QVC, and have purchased mostly everything you sell. I love your line and refuse to purchase anything but your collection. Your shows were outstanding, and I purchased one of everything! I hope you and your lovely wife get home safely today with the snow fall. I am sure your pups are missing the both of you. I too am an animal lover with three little Boston Terriers that are the love of my life.
Thank you so very much for the magnificent work you do and please continue keeping these beautiful pieces coming. I personally would be lost without your line.
Cheryl G.
Hi Cheryl,
We made it home safe and sound. We split the driving…..actually Jac did the last two hours…..I was just too sleepy to drive. The girls could not have been happier the Mommy and Poppy were home……we went right out into the snow….this was Sammy”s first experience with snow and she loved it……
So happy you both made it home safely. Thanks again for three fantastic shows!! You must be exhausted. I need to take a nap now myself and I watched comfortably at home. Get some good rest this weekend; you surely deserve it. There is nothing as cute in the entire world as puppies and snow!!!!! Looking forward to your show in February; it is on my calendar!!!
Wow, that was a fun show, for 2:00 am; fast pace, exciting and lovely clothes. And I finished off my early am with a winning ebay bid on a FISH Necklace! Anne Klein vintage, long snake chain, with a single large articulated fish pendant hanging at the bottom, and the bail is … shaped like a FISH HOOK! Hope it’s one of your designs; I THINK it might be?
See you at 8:00 for tea and animals who shall remain nameless 🙂
