“NAVY GABERDINE SEPARATES”

………………….There is simply nothing in the world that compares with wool gaberdine made in Italy. It comes in different weights and finishes, but gaberdine is a weave unto itself. It has a smooth surface, and usually a dry hand. It is perfect for women’s tailored clothing year round…..At the left a navy trench swing topper over a sleeveless navy dress. To the right a blazer styled jumpsuit over a cream silk short sleeve shell……Clean, sophisticated, uncluttered pure chic. These were clothes that did not rely on gimmicks that so many clothes do today. These were clothes a woman could personalize herself by accessorizing how she wished……I never wanted to TRANSFORM a woman. My goal has always been to make a woman a more beautiful version of herself.

“SAND, CREAM & BAMBOO SILK”

…………………………EASY would be the defining adjective…….Breezy, unrestricted clothing has a certain swagger that is totally chic……Aly is wearing a sand and cream silk reversible kimono over a sand silk button front, sleeveless tunic and ivory silk pull-on pants. Palm Frond earrings finish the look…….The Bamboo silk blazer, [lined in self silk fabric], had a safari flare with four patch pockets and flaps. Under it an ivory knit tank bodysuit, and an ivory silk side draped wrap and tie skirt…….These were simple uncomplicated clothes that still packed a QUIET punch! These were clothes with attitude, and the wearer had to have that sophisticated quiet confidence to make it work.

“ATTENTION”

It was brought to my attention that some fabulous jewelry pieces have made a surprising return: The Nugget necklace in all 3 colors including RED, plus the cuff and the earring [white only]….the Elephant pendant in the turquoise and WHITE….the Maasai necklace, earring and cuff in both the black and white and the multi color….the Samburu necklace , cuff and earring are all back and the Midas necklace and cuff. I’m sure there are only one maybe two of each so if you want any of them do not hesitate. The Byzantine necklace was there for a split second and now it’s gone. The clip earring is still avail.

“THE SWING TRENCH DRESS”

………………….The “TRENCH” has always been a source of inspiration for me. I have always been intrigued by the story of how the “trench coat” came to be. Who would ever think that a utilitary coat designed to help protect the soldiers in WW1, in the trenches, from the elements would become an ICONIC fashion statement. Every detail of the coat had a purpose and a reason for being….27 years or so later I would create the ultimate “trench coat” for my QVC Ladies……but 30, years ago I created this silk crepe de Chine trench swing dress that could be worn on its’ own, over leggings and trousers, or worn open as a swing trench topper. I would bring this design back today in a plethora of different fabrics in a New York minute….LOL

” SAND, NAVY, BAMBOO & CREAM SEPARATES”

…………………….The January, February group of clothes was all about CLASSIC SEPARATES……To the left cream and navy sweaters over a navy pencil gaberdine skirt,  and a classic gaberdine trouser in bamboo. To the right the beautiful linen tweed windowpane blazer in navy and ivory is worn over a ivory silk shell and navy gaberdine trousers……..When the fabrics a designer chooses are the best quality in the world, and the designs are classic….a date can never be assigned to them. What here wouldn’t look perfect today…..30 years later? Are they revolutionary clothes? Absolutely not, but that’s what makes them as relevant today, and as modern today as they were when I did them so many years ago.
