“THE HOT PINK COAT”

……………………..The shapes on the collection, once established, repeated through out in different colors and fabrics. This made for a cohesive statement and a strong point of view. Today many, not all, collections are all over the lot, and to me very schizophrenic. They seem to jump from one idea to another without a common thread to hold the collections together……..The coat above is the same silhouette as the Ink Blot print coat, but this time in the Hot Pink wool crepe. It is shown over a stark ivory dress in the lighter weight wool crepe. The Artisan Gold ball necklace gives that warm glow that I love…..I did a similar necklace for Linea early on.

HOT PINK & RED”

……………….Hot Pink and Red became jackets, shorts skirts and sweaters as complete tonal looks………..Artisan Gold was my accessory color of choice.

“THE HOT PINK ELONGATED JACKET”

………………………The Elongated jacket was a major silhouette in the Spring 1991 collection….The very narrow over lap of the Double Breasted crepe blazer kept the line long and lean. The cut away bottom gave relief  to what could have looked more like a coat…I showed the Hot Pink blazer over a Red tank and red pencil skirt….The jewel necklace has an interesting story…………One of my all time favorite si-fi movies was…….”THE FORBIDDEN PLANET”…….Anne Francis was at her most beautiful, and wore beautiful clothes that ROBBIE THE ROBOT would whip up for her at a moments notice……He also, at her request, would make her the most beautiful NECKLACES of precious stones. These took a little longer to make…LOL……Anyway, the necklaces he made for her looked like the one above…..strands and strands of faceted jewels spaced out on fine chain. They were essentially BIB necklaces that filled in a decollete….The long drop earrings matched.

“THE SHAPE IS A-LINE”

…………………………The shape is A-Line…..and keep it SHORT! I always loved the mix of pink and red, but it had to be the right pink and the right red…There are winter pinks and reds like those I had chosen, and there are summer reds and pinks that are lighter and brighter…The little semi swing zip front wool crepe jackets in RED and HOT PINK were shown over contrast slightly A-line pencil skirts. The jackets had Gold ball zipper pulls……The Hot Pink and Red tights with matching pumps were tantamount to complete the look…..Gold Ball drop earrings and Gold Ball stick pins were the perfect accessory. The shoes matched the color of the tights to keep an elongated look.

“THE SARONG”

…………………….The SARONG has been worn by the Indonesian people, both men and women, for centuries….It’s as common place in Indonesia as a pencil skirt is in this country….Over the years there have been many interpretations of the sarong as a skirt, as a pant and as a DRESS………Jac wore the Strapless Silk Cady Sarong Ink Blot Dress to Angela’s wedding, and to other special events. I can tell you when she walked into any room wearing this…….WOW…..it was a SHOW STOPPER!….and Jac gave it pure CLASS!…It was all in the attitude. She didn’t wear it any differently than if she were wearing a tee shirt and jeans. You put it on and forget about it….A dress like this is all about the DRAPE and FIT…..To ensure that they are secure and comfortable the dress is made and “built” onto a bustier…..If it fits properly a women can do jumping jacks without the worry of the top coming down, and no need to keep tugging it up all evening…..The open front coat in the Red and Black ink blot print was perfect, and so much more interesting than a solid black cover up……You did have to have a long neck to wear the jet and pearl necklace and drop earring….LOL……Many Designer accessories are about the bold and extreme. Runway jewelry MUST be editorial, or they mean nothing. We did make a modified version for the stores. I tried to bring some editorial pieces to the Linea jewelry collection. Some thought they were too bold, but as I always say….”not everything is for everyone”, and that’s the way it should be!………To the right a simple jacket in the red and black print over a black silk tank and the ink blot sarong skirt, and yes, there were red and black print shoes to match.
