March, #1 SNEAK PEEK

Hello Everyone! It is March 1st and time to start showing Sneak Peeks for my up coming March appearances. My dates and times are as follows: 3/29, 6:00am and 11:00am. 3/30. 6:00am and 3/31. 8:00am

The first item is the long awaited DENIM JACKET, A222543 and BOOT CUT PANT, A222548. First the fabric…..looking at denim fabric lines is a world unto itself. You would never guess how many types and variations of denim exist….literally hundreds….it can become overwhelming. After a while you just say STOP, because they all start looking and feeling alike. I knew I wanted the fabric to be light in weight, I knew I wanted it to be washed and have both a casual and dressed up look….stretch… of course. I am very pleased with the fabric I selected because it looks exactly how I had hoped the pieces would……..casual and dressy….meaning you can wear it every day or  for a more dressed up occasion. It is a blend of 72% cotton, 26% polyester and 2% spandex. The colors, INDIGO, BLACK and WHITE. There is a TWO TONE effect as most denims have, so the indigo and black are NOT solid colors as a cotton sateen would be….DENIM. The jacket is SHAPED and has three shaping seams in the front. There are narrow INSET band pockets [always a sign of better workmanship] and THREE SIGNATURE GOLD BUTTONS for the front closure. The long sleeve has THREE WORKING SIGNATURE BUTTONS which can be unbuttoned and turned back to reveal a wide facing…..no lining showing here! The jacket is fully lined in my satin lining……. THE BACK …..The back has FIVE shaping seams!!! As you can see from the white jacket photo on the extreme left there is also a BACK PEPLUM, which has turned out to be one of the most important details of the season and going forward into next fall. I think it gives this some what classic blazer a feminine and flirtatious touch…..also…. a good deal of sex appeal! If I had to compare the fit of this jacket to a previous jacket I would say it is closest to the navy, red or ivory jacket from last month. It also has a beautifully shaped and proportioned collar and lapel which in the craft of jacket making….is an art unto itself. The boot cut pant has a zip front with a gold signature button. It is a flat front with a full elastic back, so there is plenty of stretch. It has a regular waist band [in one of the pictures it looks like a high rise waist  but it isn’t]. There are front pockets only. The inseam is approx. 31-32 inches with a 1 inch hem. They do not come in petite lengths. The colors are the same as the jacket. The pant is unlined so it will be perfect for now and through the summer and fall….actually you can wear them all year long. Examine the photos for all the details. I have put it together with the Kate shirt, tanks and t-shirts and the new 2 tier pebble crepe skirt in black. There are zillions of ways to mix and combine these pieces with things you already own….i.e. the black/gray or navy/blue mosaic print boho skirt.

I thought these would be two good pieces to start the new sneak peek series off with because they are very versatile and will coordinate with many pieces to come………………..much Love, Louis

    Louis,
I was just revisiting the photos of your fabulous denim suits and when the collage is blown up to its larger scale…I see two prints that are not visible in the normal pictures…are those sweater prints? I see what looks like a navy and white print and what looks like an Ivory, gray and pink print? Did you put a sneak peek within a sneak peek? or am I just bonkers:)) and seeing things?

    1. Sherry

Hi Victoria, if you read further down to the question Cathy asked on March 1, you will find your answer….it’s the hydrangea top you are seeing.

  2. JazzDiva

The jackets look lovely. I would love a pencil skirt to match. Looking forward to the upcoming shows.

    1. Sherry

Put my vote in for a pencil skirt in the denim.

      1. CJ

        Ditto on the pencil skirt!

  3. TourEiffel

    Hi Louis —

Bravo! Fabulous denim pieces! I’ll be ordering at midnight! BTW, I still own and love your denim jacket (with white buttons) from years ago. Remember that one? Will you be selling the white t-shirt shown in the upper left corner? Many thanks!

    TourEiffel

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear TourEiffel,
The t-shirt is actually a vintage Linea body suit and are long gone, but for anyone who still has them they work great.

      1. TourEiffel

Thank you. Love the neckline and simplicity of the body suit.

  4. Sherry

Louis, I have a question about the “dates and times”. Are those “all” 1 hour shows? Yowza, if they are!!!

Also, love the denim sneak peak. Thanks for your time, Sherry

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Sherry,
wouldn’t that be nice…but…no the 3/29. 6am and 11am are both one hour Linea shows….the others are what are called “hits” or appearances.

      1. Sherry

Yes, it would have been nice….thanks for the clarification.

  5. Nancy [smilesalot]

I can’t wait! I’m not going to hesitate on these jackets. I really love the peplum; I had no idea it was so flattering. The Lili shirt is one of my favorites.. fit is amazing. Looks like there is denim in my future.

  6. Celia

She who hesitates is lost on these!

  7. Cathy

    Dear Louis,

When you have a few minutes, could you tell us which of the above photos is most accurate in color for the indigo and the black?

Who’d have thought a white denim jacket and a black skirt could look so chic???

    Thanks,

    Cathy in PA

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Cathy,
I was afraid someone would ask that! Unfortunately, what looks like black is the indigo and what looks like indigo is the black….NONE of the pictures are accurate. The indigo looks like a TRUE dark navy indigo washed denim and the black looks like a dark charcoal. The colors are pretty standard and look pretty much what you would imagine. It is extremely difficult to photograph black and navy with a regular flash camera……sorry I can’t be more help….Louis

      1. Cathy

Oh, Louis, that’s okay … and I’m a TERRIBLE photographer; I set up photo shoots for my partner, but he pushes the camera buttons and gets the exposures I want … USUALLY … it’s very difficult, especially with dark colors. I’m actually glad to hear the indigo is a nice “TRUE dark navy indigo” as that’s such a nice color, and the black/charcoal should look nice with so many things too. As always, you ARE a help 🙂

  8. Barbara

The denim for me! Unfortunately I will be traveling on the 29th so I will have to try calling in an order when I’m in the airport. LOVE the jacket, and I need the pants, all of the pants ha-ha.
I continue to dress better than ever, thanks!

  9. Sharon Santourian-Holman

I am absolutely in love with not only the best fitted denim jacket around, but it is LINED!!!! Must have the indigo and trousers for my casual Fridays at work and of course, for play. I will be one styling lady at the Spring car shows with my Mustang!:) Thank you for making a chic denim.

  10. Magda Wardrop-Truesdale

    Hi Louis,
I received my woodblock georgette top today in the terrecotta color, and it is absolutely georgeous. The fit is perfect on me. Thank you! Thank You! I am waiting for the black to arrive, can’t wait. I also received the navy tribal top and like you said it matches perfectly with the navy tribal cardigan. I can’t wait for the 29th, 30th and 31st. These dates are on my calender. I will be ordering all 3 colors in the denim jackets and pants. You are the absolute best!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I am so happy you like your wood block print….I think it is one of my personal favorite pieces.

      1. Kate

Mine came too and I love the feminine shaping contrasted with the the gutsy print. The black and terra are fabulous but that green! So fresh.

  11. Mary

Trouser jeans! With pockets!! ThankYouThankYouThankYou!! I’ve tried on so many pairs and they never fit right or look nice enough to wear to work when we have ‘casual days’ and are allowed to wear jeans. My old raggedy jeans don’t leave the house except for gardening and taking out the trash. Now I’ll have work-appropriate jeans, in what I’m sure will be a great fabric. Definitely Indigo and White, then there’s the black…

Now off to find a nice pair of woven leather wedge sandals.

  12. Victoria

    Dear Louis,
What did someone call it? Your Evil Genius? This trio of colors is perfection…your ability to make that one piece that takes us to true chic..YOUR JACKETS are to die for… I can take the white denim jacket, white camisole and your khaki sateen cuffed cropped pants and tan flats …take the white denim suit and black camisole and black jeweled sandals.. the possible combinations take my breath away…these three suits, your vneck tops and your tribal jackets, my Olive Shantung jacket and jersey pants will see me through my L.A. to Paris vacation this year…with either my white or sage anorak….Heaven…I’m in Heaven

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Victoria….you are one well dressed lady…..enjoy your trip to Paris….when is it…..i can taste the pain au chocolat now!

  13. Cathy

I see background hints of a bright spring grass green, and a white, grey and pink … maybe with black, maybe animal print … a new mystery to ponder :)))

    Cathy in PA

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Cathy you have a good eye but it’s just the navy Hydrangea print which has been reorder for this show. It looks great with the indigo and white jeans.

      1. Cathy

OH, I don’t have that Navy Hydrangea print; that’s wonderful, Thanks!

  14. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

Oh boy – that is one classy jacket. I love it! May I express disappointment with the inseam length on the pant? If anything, bootcut jeans need to be longer, even for regular heights. They look horrendous when too short. How frustrating this can this company be! I know it’s not your doing, Louis – but have to vent. Such a beautiful outfit and I can only have half. 🙁 My only thought is to cut them off and turn them into crops. Do you think we’ll ever see another tall pant?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Susan…..I feel your pain….you know Jac can’t wear the pants either and I have all the samples!!! I try and try to get them to do talls but it falls on deaf ears. I really think it has to be up to you all in BIG NUMBERS to get them to listen. 50 or even 100 women asking for tall pants isn’t going to cut it. I will keep pushing…….but so far it hasn’t worked.

  15. Vicki

    Louis

I love you ..but I haven’t decided if this blog is a blessing or a curse!! so I need the a jacket and at least 2 pairs of pants etc etc!!
Tell me of the denim choices Which are Jac’s favorites?? or yours? if there is such a thing.. I like to see what Jac is wearing so I can get a glimpse as to how it would look on me ,,

    Vicki

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Vicki,
I hate to tell you this…..I asked Jac and she said “what, I like them all, white is a given and there’s no way to choose between blue and black”. Sorry no help there.

  16. Kate

Last year when I said I needed something in denim I never dreamed you would come up with such a chic solution. I mean who does fitted denim jackets like that (other than Armani)? No one. I can’t wait to order the dark wash and the white. Stunning!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Your request is my demand……I ‘m glad you approve of the style. I was really juggling between peplum, no peplum….. safe or sassy. The little voice on my left shoulder said “SASSY”.

      1. Kate

Nothing sexier than a flirty surprise while walking away! What is the rise on the pant? (and I will not torture you by begging for the cool gold mesh belt)

  17. Shari

    Hi Loius!
How about a sneak peek at the blouse Angela had on! I think it was black and a tan-ish color andhad a
very floaty bottom. I’m hoping there are a couple colorways, as I really NEED that blouse!!
Thankyou for ALL you do and give those “fuzzy girls” kisses from me !!!

  18. BB-MN

Beautiful! I’m petite, but I’m so desperate for a pair of classy denim pants that I might just try these. Thank you for the turn-back cuffs on the jacket too! Any idea what the length of the jacket is (a range)? Thank you, as always, for everything.

  19. Rhonda

This is a beautiful collection. Please tell me there will be more than the last jackets to go around. I was able to get the navy x small and love it. The low quantities make shopping so difficult. I am a fairly new customer but I have loved the pieces I have bought this last year. Thanks for giving the dates and times to pencil in.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Rhonda….I would love to tell you they bought a ton but I can’t tell a lie. I fear there will be some unhappy ladies who hesitated and didn’t get what they wanted.

  20. Judi

Fantastic!!!! I’ve never seen such stylish, upscale denim clothing!!! I’ve been waiting patiently for your denim, but I never imagined anything like this. It’s like potato chips, how do you stop at just one color??

  21. Carol

Is that a perfectly pink Kate I’m seeing in these photos? I’m so getting that, and all three colors of the pants. I’m only getting two colors of the jacket–as of today. Oh, and by the way, did we really need to see those ball hoop earrings we can’t have? Curse, you and your evil genius!

Can you see the dollar bills flying out of my pockets?

    crdlb

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Actually it’s not P. Pink but it sure looks like it…just the lousy photographer………looks good to me though so if you have the boho in p.pink why not?

  22. Debbie M

You are killing me! I did not think I needed all three jackets, but as usual I was wrong.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Debbie,
I appreciate your enthusiasm!!! BUT take a deep breath…..maybe white and one dark color……there’s lots more to come!LOL…..Louis

      1. Debbie M

        That never stopped me before.

        1. Chris/Jazzmom

Deb and I have the same taste– white and indigo!!

  23. MH-MN

    Super! I’m all in!
