“APRIL SNEAK PEEK # 13”

“Sneak Peek # 13” is the LAST sneak peek for the month! Yes, all of the sneak peeks 1-13 are scheduled to be on my April 26th two hour show…….if everything goes as planned. This is the BIGGEST show I will have for the season. May is a much smaller presentation…. so plan wisely. Sneak peek # 13 is my TIE DYED sweater, A223654. Actually, it isn’t tie dyed at all….it’s PRINTED to simulate the tie dye effect. The print is engineered, meaning the pattern is planned and placed, and then printed on each sweater…… so each sweater is exactly the same….no guess work as to how the tie dye will come out. It’s a fun summer sweater in YUMMY COLORS!

This sweater is 100% cotton. The size XS is 22 inches long, and it has an elbow length sleeve. The hem of the sleeve and body of the sweater has rib starts and the jewel neckline is trimmed in the same  rib. Each sweater is also trimmed with contrast  GROS GRAIN RIBBON plackets, like the butterfly sweater. It also has the little BUTTON CANDY buttons. The colors are BLUEBERRY/LIME with lime grosgrain and blueberry buttons, PINK/PEACH with peach gros grain and pink buttons and MINT/AQUA with aqua ribbon and mint buttons…..they do look good enough to eat. This is definitely a shorter  sweater than the butterfly and has more of a retro look…..sort of those 50’s bobby soxer cardigans. It is just the right length to wear under your IVORY CREPE blazer with the PEARL buttons as you see in the upper left and lower right photo. Wear it simply with a pair of white Capri pants, a pair of shorts, over your white tennis dress, or over you long white georgette peasant skirt with the elastic yoke. The gros grain was meant to be seen! so there are a few ways to wear this cardigan…….fully open with a tank………the top 2 or 3 buttons open and the bottom 3 open……..the top 2 buttoned and the rest opened, worn with a tank or cami. This is a true SPRING and SUMMER sweater and one that you will look forward to unpacking each season…….with a smile on your face…..thinking of the beautiful warm weather to come. It brings to mind summer vacations in places like Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard…..sitting on white painted benches, in front of Victorian ice cream parlors….enjoying a big  cut glass dish of delicious of ice cream with all the toppings…………yep….good enough to eat!………..Enjoy, Love Louis

    Dear Louis,
I always check in to see what your Sneaks Peaks are, and I noticed that some of the April ones are missing. I wanted to take better notes about what I am planning to purchase, especially a dress that you had posted, before the upcoming shows. The dress was shown in what I sketchily recall as black and olive choices. Now I can’t find it. How do I review the earlier April Sneak Peaks? I love that dress! (along with several other items!). Did I miss a show?

    Sincerely,
    Tana

      Dear Tana,
No you did not miss a show…it’s tomorrow at 1pm. If you go back to my blog where the sneak peeks are….you will notice in the upper left, above the first bog on the page there is a word “older”…..click on it and the second page of sneak peeks will appear. The dress is on the second page…..The safari dress comes in Bronze and Moss………..Louis

I am in heaven looking at all of these “sneak peeks”! Gorgeous, gorgeous fabrics and styles! I love your classic lines because the fashions are timeless and don’t last only one season. Only problem is that I may have to start playing the lottery to win some cash and get one of everything I want 🙂 Thank you so much for all your fashions!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Susan….it’s better to like too much than nothing at all….LOL

        Is it??? 🙂

    Louis,

I have your white, navy and khaki sateen cuffed crop pants from what two years ago? They are all in perfect condition.. I do know you are doing black in this latest version, but I am trying to ascertain if I should buy any of the latest group. I think I have three pair of your summer white pants from over the last several years….Is this new batch like the old cuffed crop flat front zip with elastic back or different?
    Thanks

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Hi Victoria….the two pants are similar but there are differences.
The pant you own is SATIN COTTON, which means it has a satin surface which is shinier than a COTTON SATEEN. The one you own is LINED and has a “pork chop pocket”….I have no idea why it’s called that….I don’t like referring to design details as pork chops but c’est la vie. The inseam is 26 inches.
The new COTTON SATEEN p-ant has a much less shiny surface….the fabric weighs less and the pocket is a typical trouser slant pocket. It is UNLINED and has a 24 inch inseam….so the new pant is less shiny, unlined, weighs less and is 2 inches shorter…..other than that they are both zip front, have similar waist bands and both have cuffs.
I have to say I find the cotton sateen more versatile and goes with everything. Sometimes the high satin finish of the older pant limits what you can wear it with….but that’s just me. I hope I’ve helped you to make a wise decision for you………Louis

Thanks Louis…I have tended to use the Satin cotton pants for dressy/casual dinners out, during late spring/summer …so given your explanation, there will be new crops for me on the 26th….just back from ten days in Paris…it was still a bit chilly there, so your sage and white anoraks got a work out ….and oh, the glances of appreciation:)) French women are not ones to show unbridled enthusiasm …but those sidelong glances told me all I wanted to hear . And at Les Puces (the fleas)de Saint-Ouen, my favorite favorite flea market in Paris…I did get quiet whispers of “beautiful jacket” all afternoon. I also did my homage to Jac (with my PJ sneakers-my chic sneaks)…I have not a clue how French women wear heels all day. Also one evening I went online to Paris Vogue and they now offer an English version (just new) and what did I see but a whole section on Tie Dye in Paris from tops, jackets and jeans…I laughed and thought Louis keeps his Ladies at the head of the fashion class always… Your clothes are so versatile…I have been going to Paris for years…I stay in the 16th on Avenue Victor Hugo with old friends…and usually am in a neighborhood cafe or restaurant for dinner, and we dress up in what I call French casual:))…however I was at the LeCrillon (fabulous hotel)for cocktails and dinner with friends and I took your black denim suit to dinner wearing your black sequin drape neck sleeveless top, black chanel flats and bag, your black and gold bold bracelet and my gold diamond earrings….If I must say so myself, I was tres chic! Thanks Louis!

Dear Victoria…….sounds like you had a wonderful time! Jac and I are off to Paris right after the QVC show and then off to London for another QVC show there. I hope it gets a little warmer……but how can anyone complain about spending time in April…..in Paris.

      1. Victoria

        Louis,

You and Jac are going to have a lovely time……My daughter lived and work in Paris for seven years right out of grad school and was married in a civil ceremony in Paris, and then we had a lovely wedding in Valery,France in a 16th century church and Chateau with many friends from the states…so France holds a very special place in my heart…But alas Italy stole my heart, while extending my waistline:)) and emptying my bank account:) but remains my favorite place in the world. However April in Paris can be pure magic…

Crossing my fingers for lovely spring weather for you and Jac!

  4. Kate

So fresh! I’m all over the pink and peach (which I am thinking will be good with navy?).

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kate….It will be good with navy….jeans….khakis and of course white….try it with a few different color bottoms ….you may be surprised!

      1. Kate

You know, now that I think on it, I do have some great olive cargo pants that would be awesome with the pink tones!

  5. Dariann

    Hi again,

This sweater is pure genius! I own your windowpane silk top in the orange and pink combo and I always receive compliments when I wear it. The pink/peach and blueberry/ lime are headed my way in the Napa Valley. These will be perfect to wear to the early morning Farmers’ Markets when there is still a chill in the air!

    Dariann

  6. Carol

Lovely! I’m in for the blueberry to wear with my limeade tank. And my new white or navy sateen crops. Yum!

Blueberry/lime…Menemsha….that cut glass bowl…creamy vanilla with beach plums…I’m so there!

  8. Yvonne Shafer (2greys)

Hi Louis! I’ll be on Nantucket this July wearing my new sweater, carrying my Nantucket basket purse and buying new White Keds at Murray’s! Thanks for the styling tip! I’ll make a toast to you with the ice cream sundae out at Sconset!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Is that wonderful breakfast place still there on the main street with the big windows?

      1. Yvonne Shafer (2greys)

Yes, Arno’s is still going strong! And the Hub is still the place to get the papers. Some old favorites are still there but lots of changes as well. We’ve been going for over 30 years; our son almost 30 years; and this year we get to take our 1 year old granddaughter, Daphne! I hope she will grow up loving it as much as we do.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Ahhhh….yes…Arno’s….Jac and I spent many a morning there having a delicious breakfast lingering over coffee and the newspaper…..you can do that during the week……not so much on the weekend…LOL

  9. Cathy

    Dear Louis,

Now we understand why you called this one “Yummy Summery” … I think Blueberry/Lime is calling my name. Very pretty!

    Cathy in PA

  10. Deborah (Diamondscribe)

Louis, you’re killing me…between this and the tweed tank…all these gorgeous knits that are too short, I have to tearfully pass on them. This is beautiful. Your sweater prints are in such gorgeous colors. I have already worn my butterfly prints quite a bit and the summer is just starting. I am sure our petite Linea Ladies will be ecstatic over this one. Am I correct, the length goes up 1/2″ per size?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Deborah……that’s correct 1/2 inch per size

  11. Judi

    Hi Louis-
You got me again! What a perfect summer sweater…and I love your description. I will be in Nantucket/Cape Cod this summer and this will be sure to travel with me!
I’m thinking, will the blueberry/lime sweater go with the purple maxi dress? Also, how would the aqua/lime sweater go with the new aqua skirt? To my eye the skirt has much more green than blue in it. Is this correct?
Thank you so much for your time-
    Judi

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Judi…..AHHHHH Nantucket….I can see you now riding on your bicycle with the basket in the front…in your blueberry/lime sweater, a white tank, the new white crop pants with the cuffs and your sparkling white KEDS! I’m jealous!!
The blueberry lime does not go with the violet maxi dress…..the sweater is much bluer and you are exactly right about the aqua. It is more like a pale turquoise aqua and the skirt IS much greener. These sweaters are the perfect weight to wear by the shore………..Louis

      1. Judi

        Louis-
I’ll be thinking of you in Nantucket when I go to the Juice Bar on Broad St. They have the BEST homemade ice cream (and homemade waffle cones)! I always liked the Even Keel on Main St. for great breakfasts.
LOL! Zappos delivered my new white Keds Friday!
The blueberry lime sweater is mine….I love the shading, the design. I can’t wait to wear the “nautical” LDO items I recently bought as well as the bohos, maxis, etc.
Thank you so much for your recommendations-
        Judi

  12. TourEiffel

    Dear Louis —

Your refined tie-dye sweater is pure genius. I abolutely love the colors and style of this one. Perfect for spring and summer. Thank you!!

    TourEiffel

P.S. Tie-dye brings me back to my college days at UC Berkeley!!

  13. Nancy ( aka smilesalot)

    Dear Louis,
I must admit to being glad you are finished with your sneak peeks for April!
I certainly don’t “need” any more cardigans. However I get SO much use of my butterfly print sweaters, I feel sure I’ll get at least one of these lovely gems.
Thanks for the Sunday morning Eye Candy!
