“SAFARI PANT SUIT SNEAK PEEK”

The “Safari Pant Suit Sneak Peek” above is actually a CUSTOMER REQUEST! For quite a few years many of you have asked me to do the A83571, brushed cotton Leopard print jacket in SOLID COLORS. I actually had a sample made in the solid brushed cotton a while ago, but it just didn’t “sing” to me, and I didn’t know why since I truly loved the jacket. What I came to realize was I like the printed version much more and if I was going to repeat this style it had to be  a NEW VERSION…..not the style, but the FABRIC. So what you see in the two photos is the new SUPER FINE TWILL. This fabric has more drape than the cotton and I have done it UNLINED to add to the languid drape of the jacket. It has a very vintage YSL look to it. The construction and workmanship are absolutely SUPERB!

The style number of the jacket is A227581. The colors are…..MUSHROOM…..and…..NAVY….. It has all of the details as the original Leopard jacket. There are four patch pockets with button through  MILITARY FLAPS, and the bottom pockets are DOUBLE ENTRY……meaning you can enter the pocket from the top, or from the side…..double entry….DOUBLE POCKETS. The entire jacket is BEAUTIFULLY stitched with DOUBLE ROW TOP STITCHING. It has a flattering wing collar that frames the face. There are straps on each sleeve that go through a belt loop and then button. The jacket has a front and back yoke and from the back yoke are two small ACTION PLEATS. There is also a self fabric belt which is optional. The jacket does have belt loops, as the original did. LADIES……everyone’s waist length is different….some are short waisted, some are long waisted…….if the belt loops are in the wrong place for you….either have them taken off or have them moved……this should take any tailor  fifteen minutes. In the photos above you see the jacket worn with the brown cashmere blend sweater and the new Whisper Knit walnut pant……..the Mushroom Whisper Knit Turtle neck and the knew Dark Mushroom knit pencil skirt is another option…..and of course, HEAD TO TOE mushroom….jacket, turtleneck and pant. There are a million ways to mix and match this Mushroom jacket…..the Ivory Cashmere turtleneck and JEANS or the white KATE SHIRT and jeans…..or the white Kate shirt and the new BLACK pleated skirt……and on and on and on……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

The pant is A227582, and again, will be sold in numerical sizes. It will  come in one length……an approx.  32 inch inseam. It has a front zip and button closure…..slash trouser pockets, and an elastic back with a flat front. They are unlined which gives them a lovely drape and makes them wearable for all SEASONS! The colors are…….. MUSHROOM…and…NAVY……You will be reaching for these pants over and over. The Mushroom will become your new favorite as it looks great with every color……from every neutral to every fashion color……..There is nothing to be said for a good pair of DARK NAVY pants….everyone need them…..they are an ESSENTIAL!

……………………………………………………….Enjoy…………………much Love, Louis

I would like to get this suit the jacket, pants and skirt along with the blouse.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Raina, I know the jacket is avail., but you will have to see what is still avail in the other pieces. The TN has been reordered in the mushroom so that’s avail too.

  2. Chris/Jazzmom

    Hello Louis,

I have the brushed cotton leopard print jacket in size Small and I use it as a fall outerwear jacket due to its length–30″. Is this safari jacket the same length as the leopard print jacket or a little shorter? Thanks for answering all our questions.

    Regards,
    Chris

    Louis,

That suit is magnificent! Oh MY! I can see the mushroom and the navy with my aubergine pieces. Gorgeous! I just made a complete career change after 22 years in the public relations field and your clothes are setting me up perfectly for my new profession. Thank you!

How does the mushroom color compare to the taupe color of the boho shirt? Will the lace jackets work with the mushroom or is the stone herringbone a better choice?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Sherry….the boho skirt is packed up to take to QVC for the show so I can’t answer that but I prefer the stone herringbone with the lace jacket.

      1. Sherry

Thank you, that is all I need to know.

    Dear Louis,

Love the mushroom! Your whisper knit t-neck in mushroom is on the way to me and I can’t wait to get it. I know that I will be mixing and matching this mushroom suit with so many of my black Linea pieces. Way to go Louis!

WOW! Love this gorgeous suit, Louis. Classic Linea style. Your fall line is terrific. Very much appreciate your sharing sneak peeks of your beautiful designs with us! You’re the best!

P.S. Have a great time in Vienna! If you get a chance to visit Salzburg, it is absolutely stunning in the summer along the Salz River.

  7. Barbara in Virginia

Oh my, Louis! Would you believe that for the first time I went to Vienna 35 years ago I made a YSL pant suit in wool that was VERY similar to take with me as the backbone for my wardrobe for the ten weeks I was there? Deja vu all over again! I am also interested in learning the fiber content for this wonderful suit. Also, how would you describe the navy? How compatible is it with your other navies and does it lean toward green or toward purple? I will have to show this to OG to see if it brings back any memories for him :-). Can’t wait to “see” both you and Jac very shortly now! As always, Barbara

    1. Barbara in Virginia

Just showed this to OG. He recognized this immediately!!! He remembered the wool fabric I used and the pant suit down to the buttons. I needed wool for that visit but something lighter weight for this return engagement. Must be that this suit was meant to be for me :-).

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

It is a poly/rayon/span blend….the magic fibers. It seams everything is poly/ rayon/span…….if it were wool and I mean a decent wool….it would be 4x the money.

      1. Barbara in Virginia

        Thanks, Louis! Safe travels!

  8. Sherry

Mushroom head to toe for me. Love that look and loving the mushroom color.

  9. Cathy

    Louis,

What is the fabric content of the fine twill used for the jacket?

    Thanks,

    Cathy in PA

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Cathy it is a Poly/Rayon/Span…..that’s why it’s seasonless.

      1. Cathy

Thank you for the info 🙂

  10. LauraL

    Hi Louis,

I have a question on the fit of this jacket. Is it the same fit as the brushed cotton leopard print? The reason I am asking is I take an XS in that jacket but a small in all of your other jackets. Should I get an XS or S in this one.

I am very much looking forward to your shows. I will see them after the fact due to travel as usual but will be ordering at midnight. My list is very long and getting longer.

Thank you very much for the sneak peaks because without these I would be lost with my travel schedule.

    Your Travelling Lady
    Laura

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

If you took an xs in the brushed cotton version then I think you should take the same in this jacket as it was basically modeled after the cotton jacket.

      1. LauraL

        Thank you.

    1. Grits

Thank you, Louis! That’s music to my ears!

  11. Grits

Oh, Louis, these are absolutely beautiful! The navy will be mine for sure. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to my olive pieces (turtleneck, v-neck, tank, cardi, etc.) with the mushroom?
