“MEDALLION PRINT SCARF TOP SNEAK PEEK”

HI EVERYONE!!!!……The “Medallion Print Scarf Top”……A227572….. is the last sneak peek for my August 6th, 4pm show…..however….it will be the FIRST ITEM in the show! Are SCARF TOPS truly happening in fashion…..and I don’t mean just on QVC……..you bet they are. They have been featured on the covers and inside many high end catelogues such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, and Nieman Marcus…..you can’t get more endorsement than that! This print was inspired by a scarf that was given to me years ago by one of the premiere printers in Milan, Italy. I used to do a great deal of work with this company and he was always very generous to me and I treasure every gift he ever gave to me. I would be in his massive and exquisite show room admiring a beautiful piece of luggage and he would say TAKE TAKE TAKE, and I would say NONONO….the next thing I knew, it was waiting for me in my hotel room. Once, I admired a gorgeous KING SIZE quilted bed cover. On one side was a silk twill paisley print and on the other side……solid cashmere. This time he didn’t say “take”. A week and 1/2 later it arrived at my apt. Needless to say I was shocked and called him immediately……mille, mille gracie!!! Since I started working with him, he has expanded his company, and now it includes womens and mens apparel, home furnishings, jewelry, luggage, shoes, perfume, etc…and of course scarves for which he is also famous for. He has a beautiful store on Madison Ave. Now, his four children run the business……with him always watching. Although I haven’t worked with him since I left Anne Klein, we remain friends.

The scarf is a BRAND NEW FABRIC for me. It is a poly TWILL GEORGETTE and it is marvelous. It is slightly heavier than the paisley scarf top from my “Indian Summer” transition group. It is not lined, nor does it come with a tank. I truly felt it was unnecessary because….1-the fabric is heavier….2- it’s an all over print and not easy to see through…..3-You already own lots of things to wear under each one ……so why charge extra for something you don’t need. ……The colors:…..BLUE…… the Blue combination has Navy, Sky Blue, Cadet Blue, Ivory, Dove Gray Charcoal Gray, Henna Red and Black……in the photo above I simply paired it with a Back TURTLENECK and JEANS……..I did add my signature navy beret and ropes of my NEW NAVY PEARLS…..don’t ask me when they are coming….. it’s all a mystery to me…………PURPLE……the Purple combination has Purple, Lavender, Teal, Turquoise, Ivory, Tobacco and Walnut Brown. I have paired this top with some vintage Linea…..a violet turtleneck and the espresso ponte knit long skirt from a few seasons back. My new WALNUT WHISPER KNIT pant is in the bottom right photo and they are the best pants you will EVER OWN. Nothing is more comfortable!!………….Last, but certainly not least, is the OLIVE COMBINATION………..the colors in this top are Olive, Fuchsia, Chartreuse, Pumpkin, Tobacco and Chili Pepper. Under this top I have the Olive tank from last year and the new Olive Pencil skirt. In another picture is the  TARRAGON WHISPER KNIT PANT!!!I have accessorized with the MUST HAVE…….. BYZANTINE BEAD NECKLACES ….and…the BYZANTINE DROP EARRING. You can wear it immediately out of the box with your olive Capri pants and sandals…..perfect for Sept. when you just don’t want to wear real summery colors, but it’s STILL SUMMER!…………Each top it UNIQUE and each coloration is not only beautiful. but printed as if I had them made in Milan, Italy……..as they say STUPENDO!

I HOPE there is something that pleases you from my August offerings………………Enjoy………much Love………..Louis

I ordered two black turtlenecks and the pintuck tunics in both colors, I loved everything but I love your pieces in substantial fabrics, I own the black tunic from a few visits ago that is shaped like something Audrey Hepburn would wear with ankle pants. I look forward to your next collection. I’ve been a fan since Anne Klein, there is nothing like American sportswear and you do it great

    Mr. Dell’olio,
All of the sneak peaks are SOLDOUT Drats!!! I hope you do a reorder! So disapointed in Malibu!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

They aren’t sold out….they just aren’t avail yet.

  3. Sherry

    Hi Louis,
Will the terragon WK pants, that are coming in Sept, blend with the olive WK pieces or are they completely different? From the picture the terragon looks lighter, but that’s all I can tell about the color. Thanks

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Sherry…..this is very interesting. They actually are very different colors and when you put the two together the immediate reaction is NO! However, I did show the olive turtleneck under the olive scarf print combination with the Tarragon WK pant, and I loved it. So my answer is YES…..and…..NO. If you plan to simply wear an olive sweater with the tarragon pant…I say no. However, if you break it up with something…..like the espresso faux suede shirt and wear accessories that pull the two greens together it together….like a scarf…then they can work together.

      1. Sherry

I did catch outfit with the two worn together. Thanks for your advice, I’ll certainly make a mental note for when I’m ordering. The show was fabulous!!!

I now have to add this beautiful top to my Monday shopping list. Louis, I join the group requesting scarves from you. There was an article in The Wall Street Journal today that showed some beautiful scarves but none were as pretty as your designs.

See you & Jac on Monday,
    Dariann

Dariann…..you know I would if I could, but that is totally up yo QVC.

  5. Maria

Bellissimo! I’m always for waist definition, but this design has me thinking hard about buying one of these scarf tops.

  6. Cathy

Well, now you’ve got me thinking even harder about scarf tops … and you are right, they’re EVERYWHERE! I assumed it was not a good look for me, at short, round, pear 2 – 3X, but as I’m small up top, I’m giving second thoughts to one of these gorgeous color schemes or the Chili Pepper one layered over a light weight top, with slim jeans or pencil skirt. Would love your honest opinion … am I just being lured in by the gorgeous colors and prints and wishful thinking?

Really enjoyed the story about your friend in Milan and his business; isn’t silk twill just the most luxurious fabric? Well, outside of silk velvet and cashmeres of course 🙂 Speaking of luxurious, is there any chance the Suede Asymmetrical Jacket is coming back in any color?

I’m off for a ride in Walter’s new car, wearing something utilitarian and decidedly NOT luxurious, to go play with our 5 year old grandson LOL. Thanks Louis and Jac … Cathy in PA

I really don’t think your size matters as much as your height. Basically scarf tops have no size…….they are usually sized because of the tanks sold with them. Since this is basically the same pattern as the last scarf top, they kept the sizing the same. I think if you wear something slim on the bottom it could work fine and it would give you a new look to try. Jeans will work with any of the tops, but the blue works especially well with jeans.

        Louis,

The frustration I and Cathy are feeling about this top could easily be resolved. Next time, use this design (with other colors, if you must) in a neck scarf. I’m begging, really, for your neck scarfs. With neck scarfs, you could scoop up “both sides of the aisle,” as it were.

Really, with your taste and talent, this resource is going to waste.

        Maria

        1. Maria

OOps! I meant “scarves.” I’m awaiting something and am addle-brained.

        2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Maria….neck scarves are unfortunately not an option as QVC doesn’t want to buy them….they would rather buy apparel.

      2. Cathy

Oh, gee … now I want the Chili Pepper one AND this Navy one AND this Purple one LOL! Will whittle that down to one, and give it a try. THANK YOU for the advice; wonderful!

      Cathy,

I hadn’t read your post when I prepared mine. Just now I went back in to look at the other responses, and I see that I mirrored some of your words precisely. Weird! Could be that as fellow pears, we have to think really hard about losing waist definition. But that design. My heavens, it’s a beaut! I hope we can figure our way out of this conundrum. Maria

Louis, I love this top, but have a question. I have the same number down for both this and the body suit. Could you clear this up, as I have to order at midnight since I will be out of town, and I surely want both the body suit and the new medallion top, and ordering by the number at midnight will be the only way for me to assure I get them both. LOVE LOVE LOVE your new collection and will be breaking the bank at midnight, actually 11:00 for me in central time zone.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

YOU MUST ALWAYS CHECK ME!!!!!LOL. I always invert numbers or read the wrong number from my sketches…..so:
      A227572, is this print tunic
      A227578, is the bodysuit

      I will correct the post

      1. farmerwife

Thank you SO much. I want both the body suit in all colors and this top in at least 2, so didn’t want to miss out, as sometimes you can only get them early if you have the number, as they are not always posted to your complete groups, when they frist load into the system. Man, that was a long, long sentence. Oh well, this is a fashion site, not a grammar site.

Gorgeous scarf top! All the colors are wonderful, but the navy is what I personally will get. I also love your sharing your experiences such as this one with the printer in Italy.

  9. enjay

Wow! I missed out on the paisley scarf top, it sold out so quickly. But this blue is beautiful and it’s gonna be mine.

Louis, you really need to do some scarves! Any chance?

  10. upallnight1

I would love these patterns/colors in scarves, too. I feel that way about most of your prints, such as the chain print blouse and the medallion T. If Isaac and Liz can sell scarves on the Q, why not Louis?

Thanks, again, for your beautiful work. I love your color combinations. Good to know I don’t need to layer with these. That does make a difference in my purchasing decision.

  11. ShopperV/Venessa

Louis, this August show is going to be your best yet (in my humble opinion)! The Linea Ladies on QVC Community are buzzing with excitement! I’m up to 9 items with this fab scarf top! Your work is so impressive, there are no words to thank you enough for doing what you do for us….So, I’ll just keep purchasing. Be blessed and have great weekend!

  12. ShopperV/Venessa

It just keeps getting better and better!!! The blue for me! These prints are absolutely magnificent….rich colors that will go with tons of Linea items.

  13. Kate

Blue for me, I think but maybe the olive too. The chili pepper version sold recently is beyond beautiful (I am wearing it RIGHT now as a swimsuit cover by the way) but I need these too. I agree about a scarf!

  14. Rae

OMG! These prints are beyond gorgeous!! And the colors! WOW! Any chance of producing just a scarf in this pattern? I’d buy one in each color. My shopping list is growing……guess I really should get a spread sheet going!!
