Wendy/DE, you made me cry. Agreed. It’s so obvious that his Angel Jac is there guiding him through this year…and we are blessed.Pamela in the sunny south.

Pamela, I’m touched that my words meant something to you. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season…warm breezes and the blessings of joy with family and friends!

An incredible late summer and Autumn Winter collection. Got those Franco Sarto boots you listed somewhere in burgundy and wow am I set! Loved the array of beautiful designs. Thank you for enriching the season. With the black velvet top to add to the sequin pants :)….happy sigh. Cut yourself a whole lot of slack over the coming holiday season. Spend time with loved ones in the family. And be patient with yourself as the grief resurfaces – or when it does not. We are 2 years and 10 months from the passing of our son. And grieving does continue on but changes forms. Perhaps it softens a bit. I still stay away from sentimental music though. I leave my holiday decorations up longer these days. They give me a lot of comfort. Sending love and prayers.

Your autumn and holiday collection have been so beautiful and my Linea list is always bigger than my Linea budget! I find that I want everything! I just absolutely LOVE how feminine your clothing designs are. I sighed when the pearl sweater came out with the pearl and crystal necklace. My husband bought me my first pearl necklace years ago when the boys were babies and he had taken one of his first long trips away to Asia and Australia.

I have kept you in my prayers so much this last year and will certainly do so this holiday season. I remember how you wrote that you had decorated early last year for Christmas so Jac could see it. Such a sweet husband you are. I was just thinking yesterday that I had to search for Jac’s Ginger Cookies recipe and make some. Lots and lots of love and hugs to you dear Louis!

Karen, when you find the recipe send it to me….maybe I’ll take a try. It would be nice to have some of Jac’s cookies for the Holiday. They won’t be the same as Jac making them, but the fragrance will be in the kitchen.

Louis, I actually found the recipe by searching “ginger cookies” in your archives:

        Jac’s Ginger Cookies

Published on December 6, 2010 in From Louis. 10 Comments

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
        1 Tbl ground Ginger
        2 tspns baking soda
        1 tspn cinnamon
        1/2 tspn salt
3/4 cups Crisco (Do not substitute Butter)
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup regular molasses(not the very dark)
        1 large egg
        2 Tblspns grated orange Zest

Sift flour, Ginger, Baking Soda, cinnamon and Salt onto a plate. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat Crisco till creamy, then beat in Brown Sugar, Molasses, egg and zest.
At low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture till combined. Mix well.
One rounded Tablespoon at a time, roll the dough between the palms of your hands to form a ball.
Place the balls of dough on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each ball.
Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Switch the sheets from upper to lower racks for even browning.
The edges of the cookies should be firm and the centers puffed and this will form crackles.
Cool cookies on sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to rack or space them out on a plate.
        This recipe can be doubled.

These are the best ginger cookies I know of. They are chewy, not crisp and are nicely crackled.
Enjoy! I will be making these right along with you…they keep nicely in a tin and are great gifts!
        Merry Christmas! ….Love, Jac

Thank you Jane J for posting the recipe. One less thing fo me to do now. I can just start baking! And I will tell my boys the story of dear Jac and Louis when they eat them.

Louis, you should absolutely bake the cookies. I’m sure Jac would love for you too. Did you used to watch her while she baked? My oldest son learned to cook by sitting by me and chatting while I cooked. I didn’t realize he was learning until he started whipping out his favorite dishea when he got older. You made the icebox cake, so I’m sure you can make these cookies. Hugs to you.

Thanks for posting this! My mom loved ginger cookies, as do I. I’m not a baker, but think I will try to make these this year in memory of my mom and Jac
