I’m so disappointed the tortoise group is completely sold out–necklace & earrings are what I was hoping to snag. Just about everything I’m interested in gets “sold out” within a day of the updates here. It’s very frustrating and I don’t know if this is a QVC problem or a marketing tool to create more demand. But, I’m disillusioned and don’t have the time to keep hawking the QVC website to see if they’ve restocked inventory. I love your clothes and jewelry, Louis, but I just can’t seem to get them into my closet! Do you have any insight as to why this inventory problem is a chronic challenge?

Dear Grace, the tortoise group hasn’t even been put into the system yet so it isn’t sold out! Who ever told you it was sold out gave you the wrong infomation.

Louis, when you search the style numbers for the tortoise items on QVC, a “sold out” page comes up.

When will they be available? I assume when I see the style numbers listed here that the items are available at QVC, unless it’s noted. Not so?

Also, while I’m in a “grousing” mood today…I love, love the new lace dress, but it’s way too short for me. I’m 5’9 and most of your dresses/skirts fit just fine, but not this one. I see there is a bit of a hem, which may be enough, so I’ll check with my tailor, because I hate to have to let it go and return it. I just wish designers would think about making dresses longer to accommodate tall women, or at least give us a hem to work with. OK, that concludes my complaining. It must be the weather–it’s May 1 and snowing here in Colorado!!

          1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Grace, believe me when I say we try to please most everyone. The length was done on our fit model who is taller than the average women. If we make them too long then they look terribly old on the shorter women. My wife wants them all shorter and she’s 5′ 10″….so I have learned when it comes to length, I will never please everyone. If I put a wider hem in this shear fabric it would look heavy and very strange. I hope you understand my quandary.

            1. Grace

I appreciate the explanation and understand the quandary. But, honestly, it doesn’t solve the problem for tall women who don’t have the legs of a model (which is most of us)! I don’t see why a shorter woman can’t just hem the dress–wouldn’t that be easier than excluding tall women altogether? I wear a medium and like the hem to hit at the top of my knee (40 inches from top to bottom), but if I had to alter it to get it where I want it to be, I’d happily do that. Even a 1-inch hem would help. I guess the other option is having a petite line and an “average” line with longer lengths or an appropriate hem. Getting the right length seems to be an issue with most designers on QVC, while non-QVC designers like Tory Burch, for example, makes her size “medium” dresses 41 inches long, which is heaven for someone like me. Maybe the QVC sizing is the problem…

And, I have no doubt that you try to please everyone–you are the BEST designer on and off QVC. I just wanted to raise the flag a bit on this issue…but I’m sure you’ve heard this before. Thanks, Louis.

Dear Grace……….that is QVC’s thing………I have no idea why they choose to have a “sold out” sign come up instead of “not avail. at this time” which would make more sense. Since the tortoise pieces are not “scripted” on a show. I have no way of knowing when they will be posted until I am advised that they will be…..and that’s usually at the last minute. My guess would be sometime right after or the same day as my May 14th show…..at least that would be the wise thing for them to do so I can tell everyone during my shows.

          1. Grace

I agree–QVC should say “not available at this time” or “will be available soon” instead of “sold out.”

I’ll keep an eye out for those pieces. Thanks!

            1. Claudia

Grace, QVC always has a sold out sign when the items aren’t available yet. Very misleading. If you check here and the Linea forum on QVC you’ll know when they’re available to order.
