“THE RESORT 1992 PREVIEW REPORT”

………………..For the NEW YORK TIMES SUNDAY MAGAZINE…….Carrie Donovan came in to preview the Resort 1992 collection. She took many photos behind the scenes in my studio before the actual show, and these were the photos she published…..On the left a sketch of the silk Purple halter dress and accessories…..The center photo shows Jac trying on the Purple silk halter dress for the final fitting [LOOK AT THOSE LEGS!!!], and me working with her on the final looks for the show. This is the dress Jasmeen is wearing in the Look Book….. At  right….the “Wizard” as Carrie called me working in the studio, and a close up of a custom multi color stone bracelet for the collection….This was always the most EXICTING TIME just before the show…..All of the clothes were finished or in their finishing stages….all of the shoes came in from Italy, and all of the jewelry and accessories arrived at the studio….It was all coming together. All of the puzzle pieces were fitting together, and now it was PLAY PLAY PLAY TIME putting it all together…..It was always such a wonderful acknowledgment to get the nod of approval from a pro like Carrie……….This marks…..THE END………of the 1992 Anne Klein Resort Retrospective presentation…..I hope you have enjoyed this look back as much as I have had showing it to you.

Condolences dear Donna. That is quite a stretch to have with one’s soul mate, but I’m sure you felt as though time flew by. Love and peace.

Jac did look amazing and your smile is so perfect. You looked very happy. Pouring through the retrospective makes me wistful. Thinking about the good old days when we wore beautiful clothing and “dressed” for various occasions. These days everything is so casual. I remember black tie parties and galas that were so much fun. I fear that I sound like my Mother – talking about the good old days. I’m in a reminiscing mood as I just lost my husband of 55 years and I have been spending my days reflecting on happier times. I do feel blessed though (as I know you do) to have had so many years of happiness.

Dear Donna, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. 55 years is a long time that must be filled with lots of memories…but you and I know we would have wanted 55 more. It’s hard to come to grips with the fact that there are no new adventures coming and no new memories to create. I loved going to Africa with my nephew Chris, but it’s the trip Jac and I always wanted to take. I know she would have loved every minute of it, and I couldn’t help but think…”Jac would have loved this”….What can we do but to go on the best we can. I know Jac would have wanted that for me, and I’m sure that’s what your husband would want for you…..but it doesn’t make it any easier…..all the best to you.
