39 Flags

Hi everyone……….There are 39 flags in all of the picture so for those of you who counted more I think you may have mistaken a red geranium for a flag….LOL….for those of you who counted less…..you may need a magnifying glass….LOL………..It has been a spectacular weekend, and promises to be a beautiful Sunday. Last night there were fireworks in the local harbor and we could see the flotilla of boats sailing right in front of our  house on their way to find a good viewing spot. The fireworks were great and afterwards, as the boats sailed away, they all blasted their horns in appreciation……….I had my two HOTDOG! Now I’ll have to wait another year to get my hotdog fix!………I had heard early predictions of a HOT/WET summer, but so far the weather here in New England has been, in general, wonderful……knock on wood…………My father would say after the 4th of July it was “the countdown to fall”. As a child that was not what I wanted to hear, because that meant school was right around the corner too. Now, I know there is still plenty of summer ahead, but I can’t help  hearing those words in my head! Since I’m already planning the fall shows….Aug. 1st is the first full fall show……….I guess it isn’t that far away…………..Winter always seems so long and summer so short, but I plan to enjoy every minute……………..

……………………………………………………enjoy………………………………much Love………………. Louis

I like your father’s saying, “After the 4th of July is the countdown to fall.”
Fall is my favorite time of the year.

My sentiments exactly, Louis. Your touching statement has an element found in a Washington Post piece that I read yesterday. The words were in a review of a Crosby, Stills & Nash performance. It really resonated with me. Here it is:

    BY CHRIS RICHARDS July 5
It’s easy to sound callous when pondering the Woodstock generation’s not-so-distant future, so let’s just pass the microphone to 62-year-old Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders:

“Because all of the greats are now in their 60s and 70s,” she recently told the New York Times, “they’re going to start dropping like flies.”

That’s a harsh little thought-bubble, but not an unreasonable one. So don’t feel bad if it’s ever bloomed over your head while weighing your summer concert options. Life is temporary, we’re reminded, and so is summertime, the season when our veteran troubadours take their legacies out for another spin.

At their worst, these career victory-laps can feel warmed over, phoned in or tossed off. At their best, they feel urgent and wise, charged with an awareness that nothing lasts.

Thursday night at Wolf Trap felt like the latter, with Crosby, Stills & Nash delivering some of the sturdiest harmonies in the American songbook.

Darn it, I missed the flag count by one too many…We had fireworks going off around the house until after 1:00 in the morning…Quite a few pyromaniacs live around us I guess…LOL. Happy to hear you are having a fantastic weekend. Looking forward to the show later this week. Is it time for another sneak peek???
