…………………It was definitely a trip of a life time, with so many pictures, videos and MEMORIES……..but…….I’m glad to be home where all the roads are PAVED!!!! I will never complain about a pot hole again! I am already missing all of my new friends and the wonderful wild animals…..But… now I have to go through the pile of mail, and unpack my bags……..before I recount my “TALE OF AFRICA”!
………………………….Africa here I come………….A trip to Africa and a Safari was always something Jac and I talked about….It was at the top of our list……..We never made it…………………I was determined to go while I was still able, so I asked my nephew, and God son, Christopher if he would like to go to Africa with me…..he said “Uncle Lou…..YES”. All of the plans were made and we were set to go…….but Covid happened and everything was canceled…..That was for a year ago today………..All of our plans were rescheduled and today is the day. We fly on a direct United flight, 15 hours! to Johannesburg. We have an overnight stay in Johannesburg and the next day fly to our first “camp”………KINGS POOL……..After a nice three day stay of looking at all sorts of animals we fly to……..ABU CAMP…….There we will “play” with elephants…The camp is know as a big elephant preserve…….then on to MOMBO CAMP which was named after a famous bull elephant…after than….in the blink of an eye….we will be on a way back home with lots of great memories!….Lou will be moving into my house to be with the girls, so I know they and the house will be well taken care of………..It’s going to be a trip of a life time and I know Jac will be with me every minute of every day…..I’ll “see” you all when I get back and tell you all about my dream trip!

…………………..I always wanted to do jewelry for the Linea Ladies, because I felt it completed the outfits……At first when the buyers were buying the jewelry it was only 2% of their total buy no matter how well it sold. If they bought more, as it was explained to me, then the apparel budget would have to be reduced so more jewelry could be bought. This made absolutely no sense to me!!?? If a product was over preforming couldn’t the budget be increased? That would mean to take money from another apparel vendor and they weren’t willing to do that…….How do we solve this conundrum??? Marty, the owner of TCJC the jewelry company, agreed to bring in an extra small amount of jewelry that he would be responsible for dollar wise, and QVC would just make the commission of what was sold “On Line Only”. That’s how the Linea Jewelry line started to expand into a huge business……Selling relationships like this between QVC and the vendors [now even apparel] are called “Drop Ship”. This is where the vendor takes all of the risks, hoping the business will grow, and QVC just makes the commission. They are responsible for taking the orders and sending them to the TCJC shipper for delivery…….The line started to grow…..Above, is an example of some of the early pieces for the Jan. 2013 line…..The Paddle Necklace and Earring, the curb chain hoop [inspired by Chanel], the “Chubby” hoop earring, the “Love Knot” necklaces which came in two lengths, the chain necklaces and bracelets and the watch with the link strap inspired by a Cartier watch I own………Over the years the line became more and more successful, and I got customers who didn’t know the apparel, but loved the jewelry…………I also became more bold and adventurous with what I wanted to design….I had already designed jewelry for 20 years at Anne Klein, and loved it! The Linea jewelry line over the years grew to be a sizable successful business.
