I LOVE the faux suede skirt so much, I’ve gone back to order all the colors. I have the purple suede asymmetric zip jacket. Is the purple faux suede compatible with that jacket?
Thanks!
crdlb
Dear Carol, I don’t really love them together. The color of the skirt is to dusty to wear with the vibrancy of the jacket. It just doesn’t work for me.
………….regards, Louis
Dear Louis, I have a special request……Would love to have a Linea Essential Charmeuse Blouse….very simple, no belts, bows, or tucks. With a notch lapel collar, slightly nipped in at the waist, sleeves that can work for petite and regular, maybe a french or faux french (rolled back) Colors for starters–Ivory, Fawn, Olive, Aubergine, Black, Navy. Special Lineaized buttons, maybe faceted? Will you consider this peon’s humble request? TIA! Sincerely, Sandi
I second that request!
I too would LOVE one….in magenta.:) or cassis . The perfect blouse
Not such a difficult request. I am assuming a notch collar like a blazer collar. I guess this is a single breasted blouse and not a wrap since you mention buttons. I have done many wrap notch collar blouses but not too many single breasted as the button is so high the collar and lapel have to be quite small and narrow. I will sketch one…..we will see if it is chosen……Regards, Louis
Thanks for the quick reply, Louis! Several people on the forum have already expressed interest. Yes, single, not wrap, no pockets. I am wondering if the buttons can not come up so high (start lower) like maybe a styalized V for lack of a better description. Now where is your crystal ball so you can see what I’m thinking!? Thanks again, Sandi
I want a Kate in charmeuse but now that you mention it I would also LOVE a wrap blouse in the same fabric!
I second Kate’s idea, actually your idea. I would love a wrap blouse in the charmeuse. I have a few of your wrap blouses from years past, and they are so flattering and my favorites.
Just to be clear are you really asking for a notch collar like a blazer or a shirt collar like the “Kate” classic shirt.
Oh sorry if you are asking me, I didn’t mean like a blazer, now that I went to my closet and looked at my blazers. It would be like the classic Kate except a V with the buttons starting lower. Sandi
Oh my, I would get a blouse like this in every color! Delicious.
Louis you always outdo yourself. My closet is fast becoming a Linea showroom. Looking forward to the December items.
I would be very happy with that or a v-neck without a collar at all. Just something very simple and classic.
I would LOVE a faux shantung classic blouse, based on the Robyn shirt. I’m totally impressed by the shantung material, would love to see a classic in fawn, aubergine and navy.
Also, do you think the new sweater tunic will be reordered? I was able to get the black but missed out on the other colors.
The new suede aubergine jacket is the ultimate! I had ordered so many other things and wasn’t going to splurge, but I’m so glad I did. So soft, the color so rich and it fits like a dream. I love the knit panels. My husband was so impressed by the quality he said he would give it to me as a gift!!!
Best regards-
Judi
I think if you wait a while you will see some of the tunics come back into inventory. Many women bought two sizes to see which they like best and some, who are sensitive to wool, find it itchy. Really, all they need to do is wear it with a “Kate” or “Robyn” shirt or a whisper knit turtle neck…..or a short or long sleeve t shirt or sweater……whatever look they are going for. Anyway. it takes 3 months for me to know whether it is a possible reorder or not.
I am soooo glad you got and like the suede. I have to say, ever since my first QVC suede jacket was made, I have never change or used a lesser quality of suede. It is truly worth more than what QVC is charging. Your husband has good taste………regards, Louis
I’d love a blouse like that — actually a softer version of that Kate shirt (since I so missed out on that one) in the charmeuse would be fabulous – I’d love Ivory and/or Black! Would love a wrap version in the Kate shirt fabric as well since I’m wishing here;)
Dear Sandi,
It may not be charmeuse, but the blouse coming in Dec. is pretty close to what you want. It is a classic shirt with a fly front like the stand collar charmeuse shirt that was recently shipped. So the front is clean with out button to interfere with jewelry. The fabric is a faux de chine with a satin back……so the satin is against the skin….ummmm. The colors are Ivory, Black and Perfectly Pink. YEARS back I did a SILK charmuse blouse in peacock, deep fuchsia, and topaz….they were really beautiful and I would love to repeat that shirt but QVC would never buy it in real silk…..so I will try in the faux charmeuse……we’ll see if thy bite!…….regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
My question also disappeared too– does this sand pant go with the sand blazer(A213623) and tank top(A213625) you introduced in spring?
Thanks again, Chris
Forgot to ask– will these pants be available in Petite sizing?
Hi I do not believe they are avail. in petites. The two colors are very different. The jacket is like gray wet beach sand and the pant is like dry yellower beach sand. Even thought they are different I don’t mind them together. I like to mix different neutral colors, but that’s my preference, some may not get the two together…I probably shouldn’t have named it sand but I’m running out of color names………regards Louis
Dear Louis,Our messages seem to have disappeared so I am asking the same question again:What is the style number for the contour pants in sand. I’d like to order them to go with my new taupe Chenille blazer.
A220049 is the style number of the sand pant. I don’t know why the questions get deleted? I have e-mailed my computer tech to find out. Maybe it’s a program that automatically deletes after a certain number have been posted? It looks great with the taupe pant. Actually, I was just putting looks together for the Dec. show and the abstract watercolor print with the taupe chenille and the sand pant looks sooooo good very European!…….regards, Louis
Dear Louis, The Q says this item,A220049, is not available at this time. Does this mean they are sold out or still to come?
Dear Beano,
I don’t know why they use the term “sold out”. The pant is new and due for my Dec. 9th show, so it isn’t in inventory yet. They, as you know, don’t list new items until midnight before the show……..regards, Louis
They didn’t say sold out. They said it was unavailable. Thank you for clearing it up for me. I look forward to the new pants. I love the taupe chenille jacket. And the gold lurex pieces and the purple crushed velvet skirt with the purple charmeuse blouse and the sequin cowl necks.
Hello Mr. Dell’Olio – I never thought I would be writing to,I enjoy watching you on QVC your pieces are timeless. I hope you can answer my question. Several years ago I purchased a silk jacket from QVC that you designed A70392 @ that time I thought I would be able to purchase the slacks @ a later time. Unfortunately that did not not work out. Is there anything in your line that you can recommend which would complement the jacket.
Thank you
Dear Sharon the same sand pant that Beano was asking about works great with that jacket. It works with the gold facings beautifully. Again the pant ill be on my Dec. 9th show and the style number is A220049………regards, Louis
Hello Louis!
I’m not sure if I’ve caught you in time…The ladies have been talking about how fabulous we all look in your leopard print topper! 🙂 We love it! I am wondering if it would be possible to do this in a solid color for next fall? Also, if you are working on any outerwear for next fall, could you please include a hood (ideally one that zips away when not needed). I have an entire closet of coats and not one is really very suitable for the typical Ohio weather in Oct/Nov…40’s, rainy and windy. I need to be able to pop up a hood to protect my head – yet still look chic!
What is the model number for the sand countour pants? I can’t find it on the Linea pages and would like to get it to go with my new Chenille jacket.
It isn’t avail yet. It will be on my Dec. show. It is listed on my list of Oct and Dec. items………..regards, Louis
A220049 is the style number of the and pant…………Louis
Good morning Louis,
Does this sand contour pant match up with the sand blazer(A213623) and tank top(A213625) you sold and will it be available in Petite sizing?
Thanks again,
Chris
Louis,
Will the new purple turtleneck sweater go with the iris leopard print jacket? I purchased that last year and would love to have a rich purple top to go with it. Or would the plum in the short-sleeved crew neck sweater work better?
Now I am kicking myself for not getting the brown leopard print jacket. Am considering putting the gray on waitlist.
Also, thank you for the cassis tunic and WW cardigan. They look gorgeous with the cassis long riding skirt. I can feel the wool fiber but am keeping them anyway and will simply layer them. It makes me feel beautiful to wear them.
Julia
I will check and get back to you
Julia,
I looked at the new purple t-neck and the plum crew neck….here is the story. The colors in the iris leopard print are quite muted. The t-neck and the crew neck are definitely brighter and not a match. That said, the purples are in the same caste meaning one isn’t a blue purple and the other a red purple. So the decision is whether you mind the sweater being brighter than the jacket. They both work in that regard but if I had to choose one, I think I would go with the plum crew only because it’s a little darker. They both look great with the new purple chenille jacket. Again, it’s a matter of preference. I always like black because I think it high lights the color of the jacket and makes the jacket pop. Of course there are times you don’t want to wear black so I would go with the crew or you can even wear the purple turtleneck under a white shirt and then the jacket which would look incredible. This would keep the brighter color away from the muted color of the jacket and would really work as a great accent…….I hope I have helped……regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
Remember when I asked about the grape crushed velvet georgette long sleeve top with crushed velvet from the upper part of the bra line to the bottom (A92312) going with the new purple crushed velvet skirt? I tried them on together and the purples work well! It looks edgy probably because the velvets are next to each other. I like it!
I received afew of the things I ordered from the last show. The new suede jacket with the knit sleeve cuff and side panels is beautiful. I am very long waisted and this fits really well. The crushed velvet is just so beautiful and should fit everyone as it is cut rather straight and flows over your figure. The long sweater with the Vee neck is lovely. Can’t wait for the wether to cool down so I can wear my new clothes. Thank you Louis for all the beautiful designs and the best of fabrics.
Dear Nomy. I am very happy you are pleased with everything you have received. It’s one thing for me to be pleased with my design and the way it is manufactured but it is much more gratifying to hear from you…..that YOU are happy……..regards, Louis
Hello Louis,
Just a quick note, I just got the charmuse steel grey top with the tank. I LOVE it. It is Really very well designed and looks beautiful. I will be posting a review. Thankyou for such beautiful clothes. More are on the way to my house.
REgards
nikki, I’m so happy you liked this top. I knew when I designed it ….it was taking a chance. It is not a top for everyone and I’m sure there will be women that don’t get it. I couldn’t be happier…..don’t forget to post your remarks on the Linea site…….regards, Louis
Just posted a review. All i can ask is more colors please (olive… ) . This fabric is beautiful, ofcourse the design is fabulous. By the way, I did order all 3 colors in the tunic sweater, as i know i will love them when they arrive. Thanks
LDO–the v-neck tunic is all that you promised and more. It looks, feels, drapes and wears like 300.00 sweater. I am now kicking myself for not ordering all the colors. Yeah, I know better….
I hate to say it….but….I TOLD YOU SO! What color did you get?
I’m off to pout for a bit but before I go, is there a chance you might do this sweater next year in navy?
Oh, I got black and cassis.
Oh Kate…..the steel gray is sooooo pretty. Well the black will have to take it’s place. Maybe nikki will let you borrow it……..LDO
If they reorder it……..navy would be great.
HI Louis, Since we are on the subject of the merlot pants, would you say the pants would match/blend with the cassis? Your description of the merlot sounds more like the description of the cassis, or did i make that up? Also, is there any possibility of combining the cassis with the purple blazer? Thank you for your time and your awesome talent!!
Hi sandi,
The Merlot and the cassis are totally different and do not go together at all. The Merlot is really more of a toned down raspberry/red , while the cassis is more of a magenta/fuchsia compared to the Merlot.
Hi,
I see that A213327 -the 3/4 sleeve blazer with zipper trim is available on waitlist in Khaki
when will it be available & are you making in Black (which is what i really want)
thanx – also would you make in long sleeve & with silver trim – dynamite
Hi NJ Lady,
The khaki is coming early next year Feb or March….don’t remember. The black was not reordered……don’t really know the reason as both color are sold out.
I’m bringing this to the top in case you missed my question: The new merlot pants since you mention they have a raspberry tone to them, would they work with the square neck knit sweater in raspberry (A97198)or the raspberry and white striped jacket (A97207) that had a matching vest? I have the magenta top with pants (A94734) and (A94735). Would these new merlot pants work with the magenta top?
Hi Chris, I had to look for all the samples to check the colors. First, the knit magenta top does not work. The top is more fuchsia compared to the Merlot which is more of a reddish raspberry wine. It would be the same as putting you magenta knit top with your stripe jacket……the colors just don’t work together. The Merlot with the raspberry stripe and the square neck top is another story. The colors do work together. They are all in the same family, however, the Merlot is darker than the others. It is not a dark color and is more of a mid range color. I think the solid knit top looks great with the Merlot. The jacket and vest certainly work…..it’s a matter of preference…..would you like a wine bottom with the raspberry stripe? It certainly is an alternative to white and navy or the raspberry knit skirt. I hope I’ve answered you question……….regards, Louis
Yes, you did, I ask these questions because I know others have older inventory and are always (like me) looking for something else to wear to coordinate and extend the outfit into another season. Love the idea of the darker pant with the raspberry tops.
One more question– since I know everyone is wondering now– does the aubergine whisper knit pieces go with these new merlot pants? Thanks so much for checking your color swatches.
Chris
The Merlot and the aubergine work together as well. It’s the opposite case of the raspberry sweater. The Merlot is a lighter color than the aubergine. I mention this because some people to not like their bottoms to be lighter in color than their tops…..white excluded. Sometimes it bothers me …..sometimes it doesn’t. In this case it does not……regards, Louis
Hi Louis: You are right, some of the hosts are very sensitive and I hope we don’t see you with them, especially Shawn Killinger. I told Dennis (Basso) she always overtalks him, does not let him discuss his ideas or designs, and tries to take the stage. We watch because we want to hear what you have to say, why you design a product in a certain way, what fabrics you use and why, and I especially LOVE it when you ask the camera to move in closer – we miss the fabric detail because they give us a 60 ft shot – I have complained to Mike George so many times. Joan Rivers is one who demands they get us close up shot, not a laser, to see the detail of the product. You put such hard work into your collection, but sometimes QVC pushes products through like cattle in the stockyards. Anyway, love to hear you talk about your creations, they are like precious little children to you. You have so much care for your product and for us. THAT is a premium today.
Hi, Louis! Just a comment. Several on the QVC Linea forum think that the belt loops on the brushed cotton leopard print jacket are where Leah had it belted right under her bust. And didn’t order it for that reason. YIKES! I guess you don’t style the hosts? As always, Barbara
I find the whole thing very funny. Why don’t they just take the belt out of the loops and tie it at “their” natural waist? Clip the belt loops off or have a tailor move them….It should take 10 minutes to do. I really don’t know why Leah wears her belts that way. She is extremely short waisted and always wears her belts under her bust…..very unflattering. She looks so much better with the belt tied in the back and an untucked sweater which gives her a longer line. She happens to have good legs and can wear short skirts. Some of the hosts welcome my help…..others do not………regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
Thank you for the wonderful shows last week. I was camping in Virginia, and watched on my iPhone 🙂 Well, you said you didn’t mind questions and feedback, so …
Feedback: The Lurex top in Antique Gold arrived on my doorstep this morning; absolutely stunning! Planning to wear that with some black silk velvet pants I own. Thinking I might need the skirt to match after all, which I would wear with a black silk velvet top I own … as I’m only 5′ 2″ tall, might have to have the skirt taken up at the waistband to shorten a bit.
Question: I’ve had the gorgeous Asymmetrical Suede Jacket in Spruce Green in 3X on waitlist since back in September when it first showed up on the website (with thanks to the forum ladies for the heads-up). All sizes are showing as available except the XXS and the 3X and customer service has no idea why. Would you know if the 3X was indeed manufactured and shipped in the Spruce Green? Would have loved the Black, but too late for that one; it was so gorgeous last week when you styled it with that Lurex Antique Gold skirt … oh, my!
Glad you are back safe and sound, despite the Hackensack detour. My husband is famous for missing the bridge in Philadelphia and getting lost in Camden, NJ, despite 62 years of making that trip … happened once at 3am, while towing the boat home … 🙂
Thanks again,
Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy,
I have no idea why the jacket isn’t showing up in the 3X. I will check with my manufacturer and get back to you.
I think the new zip front suede jacket in black with the rib knit trim would work just as well with the lurex pieces. You should give it a look.
…………..regards, Louis
Dear Cathy,
I got the answer. The xxs and the 3x were shipped separately from the main shipment…..a factory error…..they are on their way and eventually will be avail…………….regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
What wonderful news; I look forward to that Spruce Green Suede Jacket. Thank you so much for going to so much trouble as to contact the manufacturer!
Tried the Lurex top on again, and played with style and matching a bit; belted at waist or empire, no belt, belt doubled and looped through as a necktie/scarf effect (LOVED that one!). It’s such a beautiful top, and the details … you even had the lining lettuce edged; fantastic! The fit is so comfortable. I went straight back and ordered the skirt too. Doubt I’ll wear them together, but what versatile separates to dress up or down and travel with.
Thank you again,
Cathy in PA
Hi Louis, thank you so much for getting back to me. I had mentioned that I was looking for the skirt that was shown on the August 28th show. It wasn’t being featured but it looked like a dropped waist velvet skirt, I had purchased from that show 3825850710 ( I had previously described it as a funnel neck) but it is the stand up collar. The skirt in question is driving me crazy because the model was wearing it with a red or magenta jacket and it looked so fabulous. It didn’t look like it was crushed velvet. Does any of this ring a bell? Thanks Ilene
Hi Louis, please disregard my last “Ask Louis”. I went back to look at the videos and it was the crushed velvet skirt (which I have already ordered ) but haven’t received yet. Thank you again for your patience and kind reply. It’s a delight to speak with you and off course to have your beautiful clothing available for us to enjoy. Regards, Ilene
Hi Louis,
I had a couple questions on some of the upcoming items that I was hoping you could answer.
1) The side zip contour waist pants in Sand. Is sand darker or lighter in hue than the fawn? I know the fawn does not work with the Taupe Chenille blazer but will the sand? What is the undertone color of the sand? Are there any existing items in Sand that I could see the color?
2) The abstract watercolor print blouse does that fit similiar to the charmuse blouse that was in September or more like the peasant blouses or the woven blouses (i.e. what is the fit like). Also what bottom colors will go with the avocado version as well as the rasberry version?
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. It is very much appreciated.
Dear LauraL,
The new contour waist side zip pant and the fawn pant are very similar yet very different. Let me explain…..they are similar in lightness, meaning they are about equal in the depth of color. The difference is definitely in the under tone. The Fawn has a slight yellow/camel caste, whereas the Sand has a pink/gray caste, making it perfect with the new Taupe chenille blazer. I can’t recall anything that is this exact color for you to compare it with. Fawn is actually the closest…..but different. If you purchased the Taupe chenille blazer, it would definitely be worth while getting this pant.
The abstract watercolor print is not a peasant top. It fits more like a classic jewel neck, set in sleeve blouse…….similar to the pucker top in style. It has some interesting dress maker details that get lost in the print, but all of a sudden, after looking at the blouse they show up and you say, “oh, that’s pretty”…..very subtle. The Raspberry and the Avocado both work beautifully with the new Sand and Black pant. They also look great with the new faux suede Espresso skirt and the Avocado looks great with the Avocado faux suede skirt. The Raspberry print looks great with the Merlot pant and the Aubergine cardigan, which is how I am showing it. Olive also works with the Avocado. You may find other colors in your closet that do coordinate with the two colors such as dark Charcoal Gray………I hope I have answered you questions……..regards, Louis
Thank you.
I did order the taupe chenille jacket so the sand pants are now a must for me. The abstract watercolor blouse is now also a must (I think the avocado color). That fit is good for me. I also plan to get the faux suede skirts. I believe you said earlier that those work better for petite then the suede boot skirt.
Once again thank you for you time.
Mr. Dell’Olio:
I’ve not asked you a question directly before as I feel like a student asking a well-respected professor a silly question! Your designs are beautiful and I’ve joined the happy and well dressed Linea Ladies! I always receive compliments when wearing your clothing and the fit and feel are impeccable. A big Thank You to you and Jac for always being on at the Q no matter the ungodly hour or the inevitable weather disasters!
My question is in regard to the December items. There is to be a side zip contour waist pant in ‘merlot’. First, is there a current pant that the fit of these new ones will resemble? And second, will merlot coordinate with the aubergine items? Also will the above pant in ‘slate blue’ coordinate with the ruffle front knit sweater in cloud blue shown on your early morning show this week? Oops! That’s more than one question! I’ve used up my allotment on my first communication!
Thank you so much for all you do.
Dear Susie,
First let me welcome you to my website! The reason I started this website was so I could have direct communication with my Linea customers. I welcome all questions! For me, if I don’t hear from all of you this site would be a failure. So, that said, never ever feel “silly” asking me anything here on “our” site.
Now, to answer your questions. The Merlot pant coming in Dec. is a side zip pant and I planned it to fit similarly to my other side zip pants [the cotton sateen] which many women like. The Merlot color is lighter than the Aubergine and a touch more raspberry. I put the two together and you could certainly wear them together….if you don’t mind your pant being lighter than your top. The slate blue pant doesn’t work with the mentioned sweater at all. The sweater is more of gray with an aqua tint and the pant is definitely more blue. When you put the two together the pant looks like it has a more purple tint. It’s funny because when you look at the pant on it’s own it doesn’t look purple at all…..only when you put it next to the sweater…..next question?
……………regards, Louis
Louis,
Thank you so much for the fast reply! And after an evening of Margaritas, yet!
I adore your sateen pants so can’t wait for the slate and Merlot versions. I’ll just have to get the Perfectly Pink tops to coordinate with those instead. Thank you again.
Susie
The new merlot pants since you mention they have a raspberry tone to them, would they work with the square neck knit sweater in raspberry (A97198)or the raspberry and white striped jacket (A97207) that had a matching vest? I have the magenta top with pants (A94734) and (A94735). Would these new merlot pants work with the magenta top?
Hi, Louis!! Fantastic show!!! It’s a great privilage to have the opportunity to purchase your designs.
I’m wondering if the byzantine necklace with oval cabochon stones is coming our way (Brenda wore this necklace). I can’t miss the J264037 byzantine necklace with square gold plated stations and the necklace with oval stones. I absolutely thrilled with the quality of your jewelry and clothing line. Thank you so much for everything you do…best regards to you and your wife Jac. Thank you in advance for taking time to reply.
Dear Inna,
That necklace was part of the Byzantine group, but unfortunately it wasn’t bought. Who knows, if they decide to continue with the Linea jewelry line…..maybe I can add it next year?!……..regards, Louis
Hi Louis: I bought the faux suede riding skirt in black and taupe – I love it and want all 4 colors! I like that it’s a little longer (my knees do not look like Jac’s, unfortunately) and since I’m only 5’4″, I am hoping it can be shortened if necessary, so that it falls to mid-calf on me. Do you think that will be a problem?
Dear Mary,
This is a very easy fabric to shorten and since the lining isn’t attached at the bottom, it’s even easier. When you shorten it….you may want to take a little sweep out of the bottom, which would mean taking it in from the hip down. Again, this is an easy alteration. It may not be necessary, you can only judge once you have it on…..just a suggestion……….regards, Louis
Louis:
I too, was thrilled with your shows Thursday. I was so wiped out from all the excitement I overslept Friday morning! Plus, we had torrential rain and the power went out, but not until after the show was over. I love the fact that there’s thunder and lightning when the Linea shows are on!
When I got home Friday afternoon there was a Q package, containing the black knit riding skirt I had waitlisted from the Sept. show. I had hesitated to order it because I’m petite, but I was thrilled with it! To think I almost didn’t get it!! I will be stalking the other colors. I WILL be wearing it to work on those cold dark mornings that are coming quickly- and to church. No one will have anything like it, I’m sure, and I will be so cozy, wrapped in that black beauty. The drape is so lovely and it falls so gracefully. I pray it will be reordered…I know, I know…we have to wait and see. So now I am contemplating the suede skirt, especially after reading what you suggested to Mary. I would definitely have to take it in from the hip down. I probably won’t touch the length, though! I think your pants are so chic in the winter, but I the alternative of a long skirt. Thank you so much, Louis!!
Dear Celia,
Just from reading your first line I know you are a “romantic”. “We” romantics love thunder and lightning, and on the L.I.Sound it is quite a show!
You are the exact example why I hesitate to give advise whether certain styles will look good on petites or not……it’s a little bit like flying blind. Everyone wears clothes differently and height isn’t always the determining factor. It really is about how you “carry” clothes. What isn’t good for one person does not mean it isn’t good for all. I really don’t like to make blanket statements. I am very happy the riding skirt worked out for you and I hope the suede skirt does too. I know it will even if it needs a little tweaking. It was a pleasure hearing from you!….regards, Louis
Hi Louis, yes along with all your other fans I love your stuff. About a month ago you had showed a funnel neck jacket that was worn with a dropped waist velvet skirt. You said the skirt would be available in a while. Can you give me any more information on that skirt. Thanks Ilene
Dear Irene,
You have me in a quandary. I don’t know what you are referring to. I don’t have any more velvet skirts coming up and I don’t remember any funnel neck jackets. Are you sure it was mine? …….regards, Louis
Louis – thank you for two wonderful shows yesterday. I was up a 5 watching and amazed that you are able to do such a nice job at that hour. I ordered at least one of everything and 2 black mocknecks (one in Medium for layering, one in large for wearing on its own). I am anxious for the tower to arrive! I wanted to let you know that I have been working on outfitting my ‘men’ with your designs. I found 3 cashmere blazers and an overcoat on eBay. My youngest son adores Italian anything, and is a business major, minoring in Italian. He was delighted to see his new coat and blazer. It’s an LDO family now! Thanks for all that you do!
Dear Susan,
Your “men” are very lucky. The clothes you are referring to come from an exclusive line of mens clothing I have done for SYMS clothing store. Sy Syms was a dear personal and close friend of ours and he had asked me if I would consider doing this line for him……that was 11 years ago…..the same year I started at QVC. Sy passed away last year and I have decided to discontinue the line. The company just is not the same and the reason I said yes is gone……it was a personal connection that doesn’t exist anymore and I have no interest in dealing with the corporate heads that remain. Sy insisted the line be totally produced in Italy so the value is incredible. My clothes will continue to be delivered until and through June 2012. It’s a sad parting for me but one I wanted to make. I hope your men enjoy the clothes. As I said, the quality is there…….regards, Louis
I will keep an eye out for them, Louis. Thanks! Barbara
Hi, Louis! Just a quick “Thanks” for the shout out during the early morning show. Yes, I was watching, but just barely, as I came down with a ghastly gastrointestinal ailment the day before and was struggling. Your shout out made my day :-). I have two of that lovely sweater, in red and in black, and adore both. And I would gladly buy more in purple and spruce! Any chance of that?
Glad that you and Jac made it safely home and in good time. Know what you mean about the New Jersey Turnpike. Both the Joyce Kilmer rest stop and the nauseating smell always let me know that NYC is not far away. I guess some things never change! As always, Barbara
Hi Barbara,
Sorry to hear about your ailments…..NOT FUN!
If you are referring to the silk/cashmere sweater, I strongly doubt it will be reordered. As beautiful as it is the selling is very slow and I am sure it is due to the price. I will have the purple turtleneck in the whisper knit in Dec.
…………..feel better and say hi to “old grumps” for me……..regards, Louis
Will relay your greetings to Old Grumpy, who has been taking very good care of me :-). He ran out and got me a quart of wonton soup and some Chinese food cooked with ginger, which seems to be what I want to eat when I get sick. Thanks, am definitely on the mend today. I have the purple Whisper Knit on wait list, along with the PP. I most often wear the Whisper Knit Tnecks in the winter but pull out the cashmere and your silk/cashmere when it gets really cold here. I wonder if the sales of the silk/cashmere Tnecks would be so slow if they were actually shown during a decent time? They really are just as warm as my 100% cashmere Tnecks and of course are much easier to wear by those who can’t wear an animal fiber of any kind. Oh, well..AS always, Barbara
Hi Louis, I loved the clothes. So many choices, such beautiful colors. The sequin drape neck top is beautiful, and thank you for being about the only designer to put sequins on the back! I hope you read the Linea forum on QVC – you’ve created a real community of fans, who are a knowledgeable group, and at the same time hilariously obsessed with your clothes. Great job by you, and Jac, and the models. Thank you for all you do. Fashion-wise, I finally look like I know what I’m doing.
I’m truly happy you like the clothes. We all have a good time back stage and the models, after 11 years, are good friends…..regards, Louis
Dear Louis:
The shows were wonderful! The hardest part is trying to figure out how to order EVERYTHING! Could you ask Jac, I have a shoe question. In the segment where the models are showing the lurex skirt, they are wearing some lovely black pumps. Are those available from the Q, or were they from the models’ own collection?
One last question, when wearing the lurex gunmetal/black/silver skirt with a turtleneck, would your cashmere blend style be a dressier choice for this, or can I stay with your whisper knit fabrication?
Thank you so much for everything you do for us. I can’t tell you how many compliments I always get when wearing your clothes.
Sincerely,
Terri
Dear Terri,
The shoes the models are wearing are there own and are not avail on QVC.
As for the turtle neck…..personally I prefer the silk/cashmere with dressier bottoms. There is just something about the richness of the fabric, the feel of the sweater and the jet black color that just looks great with the skirt. Also the fit is a little slimmer than the whisper knit. Of course I am a perfectionist and for sure the whisper knit will do just fine, especially if you don’t want to make that extra investment….but…..if you do….you won’t be sorry…..regards, Louis
Hi Louis-
What fabulous shows yesterday! As usual I DVR’D it, and am making a “DVD library” of Linea.
I think your LDO Stimulus Plan is helping the economy, at least with the Linea Ladies! My bank acct. is yelping, but it’s VERY well worth it.
I can’t wait to see the taupe chenille blazer in person, it looked golden on the screen yet I was thinking greige.
Is there a firm date for ordering the jewelry? I CAN’T miss the pearls and necklaces.
Also, does the Byzantine necklace have an adjustable length? I make jewelry as a hobby, so I can put an extra clasp in if necessary. I’d like to play around with the generous 50″ length.
Regards to you and Jac for a relaxing and beautiful Fall.
Judi
Dear Judy,
First, how do you make DVDs from what you have DVR’D. My DVR is practically full and I have started deleting old shows to make room. I hate to do it but I have no choice. There is no date yet for the jewelry. It is supposed to be delivered to QVC sometime in Nov. Then QVC has to process it and who knows how long that will take? My guess is it will be avail at the end of Nov. or at least by my next show in early Dec. When I know for sure I will post the info. The byzantine cross and necklace do not have adjustable lengths. It has a single ring and lobster claw closing. Since you make jewelry you can easily add tiny rings to the existing ring as an extender. You will just have to find rings that match.
I know you will love the pieces and appreciate the craftsmanship and high quality of the pieces. I can’t wait for you to be able to get it….regards, Louis
I want to be 100% truthful with you…..I will be making the DVD under the very strict supervision of my husband, who is an electronics engineer. Natch, he’s a computer whiz… me, not so much. I know he has 2 machines, some additional software and cables to connect the 2. If he can explain it in a simple manner I’ll definitely let you know. I wonder if those Geek Squads would do it for you? I wish I could be more helpful.
Regards-
Judi
I guess we are in the same boat! I would appreciate any help your husband can give…..even if it’s just letting me know what equipment I would need.
……………….thanks, Louis
Louis, check out the Sony DVD-Direct sold on QVC for about $199. It allows you to transfer old VCR tapes to DVD and in the sales presentation videos it says you can transver DVR-box recordings to DVD via this machine. And in the electronics forum on the Q boards there are discussions of how to do this. I have the Sony and one reason I bought it was to transfer DVR-recorded Linea shows to DVDs. But I haven’t actually done that yet, just transferring old videotapes of Linea shows to DVD for my “archives.”
Good morning!
I spoke to my husband, and as blindogs said, you need to purchase a DVD Recorder (around $200.)
My husband would need to know your TV make/model, the make/model of your DVR and the specific type of cables (he was creating a 4 part multiple choice for you!)that are currently connecting both in order to give you specific instruction.
Without direct communciation this is difficult, however you can find generalized information either on the QVC electronic board or many websites. Also, the store where you purchase the DVR Recorder can give you the needed information (if you don’t order from Q).
I hope this helps.
Dear Judi,
It does help. Please make sure to thank your husband for his suggestions and information. Now I just have to get off my duff….and DO IT! LOL……..regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
Essentially you need a DVD recorder and cables to connect your DVR to the recorder. First you connect the output of the DVR player (both video and audio – some cable types have both embedded in one cable and others have it separate but it should be fairly obvious). Set the DVD recorder channel to the input channel you have connected. Play the DVR show and hit record on the DVD recorder. If you hit stop on the recorder between each show it will give you separate chapters so that you can label them for easier viewing. Once you have everything on the disk you will need to finalize the disk prior to it being able to work on other machines. Please make sure you buy the type of disk specified by the recorder. Some only accept one of the two formats (+ or -). It is pretty easy if you have the right equipment – it just takes time. You probably won’t be able to record a copy righted show.
Hope this helps as it would be nice to help you after all you have done for us with the gorgeous clothes and styling tips.
Laura
Oh, Louis, these were the best shows ever. Beautiful, irresistable clothing but I’m still not satiated. May I put in a plea for the v neck sweater in purple to match the purple crushed velvet skirt? And the cardigan with rib knit also in purple? And at risk of sounding like a broken record,a sequin skirt and a tuxedo outfit are sorely needed for evenings out although the lurex outfits and the sequin tanks will be perfect.
Never a broken record for me. I have sketched a beautiful Tuxedo jacket and a slew of classic sequin pieces for next fall…..that’s the easy part…..the hard part is getting them to buy!……Did you like the color of the purple turtle neck that I showed on Brenda with the purple crushed velvet tunic/jacket?
I hope you never become satiated! LOL…………regards, Louis
I love that color of purple! And I loved your shows! Giant pyramid making it’s way to me.
I’ve noticed that you have shown some green and some purple pearls with long silver spacers–kind of like liquid silver beads and I’m wondering if those are coming our way, or are they vintage pieces?
You know me. Always on the lookout for more great LDO jewelry!
Thanks for the great skirts, jackets, blouses, tops, and sweaters I just blew the budget on! I even broke down and got the sage duster, although it was not my original plan. I just can’t quit you, Louis!
Sincerely,
crdlb
Carol, you have a very good eye. The pearl necklaced with silver spacer beads are vintage…Hope you enjoy your goodies……regards, Louis
Yes, I liked the turtleneck and the faux suede shirt to come in Dec. and will try my purple body suit when the skirt arrives.
LDO–I just counted 14 new items (plus the new colors in the tneck) still to come. Are you sure it’s just one hour in December? You better talk fast, friend. Can’t wait for the jewelry next month. Thanks for the great clothes yesterday.
Hi Kate,
I’m sure…..what can I say…..there is no way they can squeeze 14 items in a one hours show.Even I, who is never at a loss for words, can’t talk that fast…..I have too much to say about each item…LOL. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. I can’t wait for you to get the jewelry. I have the first samples from production and they are gorgeous. The quality is superb…..without boasting…..IMHO…..it’s the best fashion jewelry…..quality wise…..on the Q.
Oh, wanted to let you know that my Linea mojo is working because after I told you my tale of woe about the cleaners losing my LBD, a medium suddenly appeared in inventory. It will need some tailoring down, but I’m back in the black and so very happy!
Good morning Louis. I enjoyed your shows yesterday immensely, as always. I have been running temperature for a few weeks with a terrible cough, but I still was dedicated to the Linea shows and Jac and you. I love the new drape charmeuse blouses, A218569. However, there is no bust measurement. Do you advise ordering them in my typical Linea size, or sizing down? Also, A218567, the lurex peasant top- should that be ordered in my typical Linea size, or size down. The peasant paisley top from the spring I ordered down in the olive, but kept the black in my normal size. One was much larger than the other. Does the lurex run less full? Lastly, A218573, the faux suede boot skirt. Is that overpowering? I typically wear a S in your skirts, and am 5’6″. By the way, this item, A218573, the faux suede boot skirt is not shown under Linea at the Q website. It is shown on the home page under new arrivals, but not under your Linea listing. If one types in the number, the item appears, but that should not be necessary. I thought you should be aware. I hope Jac and you have a very enjoyable, and relaxing fall and holiday. You have certainly earned it and then some. I can’t wait for the Nov. jewelry, and the Dec. showing. I have ordered so much, and so much more in the Dec. show is already on my list.
Dear Rhoda,
Sorry to hear about your lingering health problems. I hope you feel better soon…..this weather is not helping!
I hope I’m not getting back to you after the fact about your questions! It really is difficult for me to give sizing advice since everyone likes things to fit differently, but I will try. The charmeuse blouse is generous and has a lot of drape to it so I do not think it would hurt to go down a size. That said there is a built in tank for modesty and I’m not sure if the blouse is constructed to “fit” the body or to be easy…….that would be the deciding factor. The lurex top you should order you normal size. The paisley peasant top had a raglan sleeve and was very drapey…….the lurex top has a set in sleeve so it fits very differently than the peasant top……stick with your normal size. It is hard for me to say if the faux suede skirt will be overwhelming or not….it’s a personal preference. The skirt is slim over the high hip and then starts to flare out. The fullness is at the bottom. If you keep the top on the more fitted side to balance the bottom…..it should be fine. If you have the knit riding skirt and liked it this skirt should be Okay. On the other hand, if the riding skirt was too much for you….then this is not the skirt for you. 5’6″ is a good height, and if you wear a boot with a heel you really should be fine. Again, it’s a matter of personal preference. Like everything else, there will be women who love it and others that it doesn’t work for. I’ll keep my fingers crossed…….regards, Louis
Thank you Louis for your quick reply. I hope you read carefully that the faux suede boot skirt is not listed on the Linea site. Thank you again for your sizing suggestions, or not. LOL. Enjoy the fall foliage with Jac and the girls. (By the way, the riding blazer I love. I bought it in both colors, among the many, many items I bought. Oh well.)
I posted on the Q’s Linea forum this morning that the skirt was not displaying in search results but you can find it by putting in the item number, A218573. I’ve reported website problems in the past on other issues to the Q, received a note saying thanks, but the issue isn’t fixed. I guess it depends on which web tech finally gets the note or maybe it takes more than one person’s report?
Hi Louis, I just LOVE your cloths. I watched both shows today (Thurs) I purchased two of your Chenille Jackets (gray and Aubergine) and your Suede Jacket with Rib/knit trim in Aubergine. I didn’t hear what date you will be back in Nov and December. I have a budget just for your shows. Please keep up the good work and please think about the Suede jacket with the Rib/Knit trim in Grey.
cheers,
Margo
Dear Margo,
I hope you aren’t expecting the chenille jacket in aubergine because that wasn’t one of the colors…LOL. I’m hoping you mean purple.
I do not have a show in November. My next show is Dec 9th. Lots and lots of new items, plus the Byzantine jewelry and pearls in the colors will be avail by then.
I hope you enjoy everything you have purchased……regards, Louis
thank you louis and jaq for 2 wonderfull shows. all us linea ladies really do love what you do for us, all the hard work and talent really shows. my heart is full and my cart runnith over lol. see you in december. and november for my jewelry. voodoo
Dear voodoo,
I am so happy you enjoyed the shows! The jewelry is going to be delivered some time in Nov…….not exactly sure when and I don’t know when QVC will put it into the system…..when I know FOR SURE….I will let you know……regards, Louis
Louis, I’m sure happy I was able to place most of my order at midnight, because later I lost all the power in my house, including cable TV and computer! So, for the p.m. show, I got in the car, charged the low-battery iphone, and sat and watched the show and placed additional order in my car. See what we ladies do to get our Linea fix! Everything looks wonderful and I can’t wait to get my tower of goodies! Hope you had a good trip home.
Dear Yvonne,
Thank you for being so devoted……to tell you the truth I would probably do the same thing….NUTS…aren’t we! LOL. I hope you brought some good munchies in the car with you…..your own drive in theater.
Coming home last night was definitely an adventure. First, the weather was miserable…..drizzling and fog all the way…..and no lights on the N.J. turnpike……not to mention the stench [love that word….so descriptive] driving through parts of the state. Jac and I were talking away, and I totally missed the turn off to the George Washington Bridge. I’ve only taken this drive a million times! We ended up lost somewhere in N.J.!I finally found a gas station [I also need gas badly….almost on empty] and asked for directions back to the G.W. Bridge. I could barely understand what he was saying! Doesn’t anyone speak English anymore!!! To make a longer story short,….we finally got home, and unbelievable as it may sound, I got home in great time. I must have really been hauling it on the PA and NJ turnpikes!
Hope when you get your goodies they are everything and more what you expected!……regards, Louis
Hi Louis,
Everything looked wonderful, and some great phone calls from customers. My question…Did you know that most of the new items have not been added to your store on .com. If one has the item number or looks for items recently aired…they can find an item. Things are not going to sell well if they’re hard to find. Thought you should know.
Loved everything,
Sherry from KS
HI Louis;
Just finished watching your 6:00 show–and ordering from midnight too –got sweaters–the tunics–the mock sweaters–the suede skirt–velvet skirt–many other things–I love your line and hope you continue it for a longtime.
Why I am writing is a totally different subject–I am a Canadian—& live in FL 4 months of the year; I am wondering or suggesting if you have ever or would like to get in touch with THe Shopping Channel in Toronto; I think it would be a fantastic connection—–
Of course we have a much smaller base to sell too–but your fashions are a typical Canadian style—I think you would be so welcomed here–many of the QVC vendors do sell up here–Joan Rivers—Max Leonard–Dalton–Dr. Perricone–etc—et c…. anyways just a suggestion—I thought of it tonight–
Good luck with you and QVC—I love the calls of people praising you–you deserve all that they say–
Judy Kornbluth
Hi Judy,
Actually the Canadian group came to see me at my manufacturers. The outcome of the meeting, after all was said and done was, the clothes would be much too costly in Canada due to many issues that were beyond me….duties, minimums etc etc. I don’t know how the others do it but most of the people you mentioned are not in apparel……..I guess Florida must be calling to you real soon…………..regards, Louis
Dear Sherry,
Thanks for letting me know this. I was so busy I really haven’t had time to look at my site. This very unusual because when they take the pictures for the show they usually post them in a matter oh hours. I have reached out to someone at QVC and asked them to check the situation out…who knows when it will be corrected?…….thanks again, Louis
Hello Louis: I watched at 5:00 a.m. (3:00 a.m. Mountain Time) here in New Mexico and looked and looked and called Customer Service to order those beautiful pearls. Then I took the time to read your note and saw they will be in the Nov. 9th show. I now have six of your beautiful turtle necks and now I bought two of your mock neck – I LOVE AUBERGINE. I also bought your chenille blazer in steel gray. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo glad QVC put Amy and Leah with you because they dress appropriately as well as Mary Beth. I can’t stand to see a host in leggings with string bean legs and a sloppy tunic – you are so well dressed and your host should be also. Being born and raised in Philadelphia and now living in New Mexico, I LOVE your clothes because they are sooooooooooooooooo New York. I miss dressing to the nines BUT buying your clothes hearkens me back to looking well dressed and lady like and I just love it. A lot of people stare at me when I go out somewhere but I don’t care because as they say, in a thoroughbred, class tells and your clothes nail it every time. Reminds me of the Duchess of Windsor, stream lined, simplistic, modest, ladylike – I’m not into trends like ruffles, or silly styles that last an hour, your imagination, design, detail work (inside & out) are impeccable and your lovely wife displays your designs just beautifully. You have been trained as an artist. Love you both, Thanks Louis, Toni
Dear Toni,
Thank you so much for your very kind words.
First, let me clear something up. I do not have a show in Nov. at all. My next show is in early Dec. The jewelry will be delivered to QVC sometime in Nov. I do not have an exact date so I do not know when it will be avail for purchasing. It could be Nov. or early Dec, but definitely before the Christmas cut off date!
I’m sure the women were looking at you because you looked GOOD! Classy dressing always wins out. I have never been a “trendy” designer. Actually, any good designer RUNS from the so called trends…..once they have been labeled as “TRENDS”. Retailers usually predict trends on what they have purchased for the store. Have you ever noticed different stores have different trends….funny? Trends start when after all the show for a season are over….the buyers and editors, independently of course, have their meetings and decide what was a common thread through out the collections. It could be colors, the return of menswear, back to classics etc. etc. Then they start to publish and buy according to what each individual fashion maven comes up with. The minute a “high fashion” designer sees they drop it like a hot potato and they go in the opposite direction creating a new trend for the next season. No designer worth their salt wants to be last seasons “trend”. Of course, there are many designers and retailers who jump on the bandwagon and continue to exploit these trends and exhaust them until the consumer is sick of seeing them i.e. the “baby doll” tops. In these economic times one has to be careful. It’s Okay to follow and purchase certain trends, like new colors of the season…..however it’s dangerous to be too trendy unless you have lots of disposable income. I have always believed it is better to buy less, but buy quality……..regards, Louis
Bless you Louis. I will look on line for your pearls.
Mr. Dell’Olio,
Congrats on a fantastic show this evening! I’m currently awaiting the arrival of my ponte knit stand collar jacket (in sweet potato) – this will be a wonderful addition to my two belted ponte “Ninotchka” jackets. And, thank goodness I ordered the leopardprint jacket (brown multi) just prior to the show – its sold out now! I am waiting in anticipation to see these two beauties firsthand. You are an absolute designing genius!!!
Dear Karen,
I’m not so sure about the genius part, but I enjoy what I do. Since you already love the Roma Ponte fabric, I am sure you will love the “sweet potato” jacket. Do not be afraid to mix colors with it. When in doubt, look for a scarf with sweet potato in it and notice what colors the scarf designer put with it. It is always a good way to come up with colors you may not have thought of mixing together………..regards, Louis
I would like more pants please>Have you ever considered denim pants?
Dear ninjasmom,
YES……and they are coming for Spring 2012 along with a new fun jacket!
…………..regards, Louis
Hooray, Louis! Hooray! I can’t wait for the denim and the fun jacket. You say “fun jacket” and I know I will love it. We ask and you deliver. You are much too much. We are so lucky to have you. Jac is lucky to have you, as well as you are to have her. Hooray! I haven’t even received my Oct. order yet, and can’t wait for the new Dec. items. Here I am saying “Hooray” for the new spring items. Nuts or what??
Does this mean I might get my denim skirt too?
Unfortunately not yet. It was either a skirt or a boot cut pant…..the buyers wanted the pant…..not both….sorry….I did try…..LDO
Pant works for me! Love that you are giving us a denim collection…
Ohhh! I am so excited.I have a casual lifestyle, but do not like to look sloppy. Thanks for the denim!
Louis,
Could you please tell me when the A219797 and the A219896 sweaters will be aired or available? I was hoping to see them on the 13th, but, I will keep checking, unless you know when they will show. Thank you Louis.
Dear Annieshummingbird,
The items you are asking about are both scheduled to be on my Dec. show. I always post a complete list with descriptions of each new and reorder item that will be on the next show a few days in advance, so you won’t have to wonder what will be presented. Of course with all the advance planning things do change at the last minute……………….regards, Louis
OK. This is my second blog in a row. Louis, you are an absolute genius. I love your talent. The new suede jacket A218571 with the knit sleeve cuffs and panels. I have a terrible time getting a fit on QVC when it comes to jackets. I have a feeling this will work beautifully. I ordered the aubergine. Again, thanks for thinking of those of us who have issues with fit. This is perfect.
Dear Kathy,
I will keep my fingers crossed that the jacket will work out for you! regards,
Louis
Love your designs!! I especially love the vintage pink jacket with black lace trim shown on the model tonight. I was not able to get it when it was offered. I would love if you would offer it again sometime in the future. I’ll bet others would love to get it as well. Please consider.
Me, too! PleasePleasePlease?
Dear Sandy,
That was one of my favorite jackets also. I will certainly keep it in mind.
…………..regards, Louis
Louis, love A218568 tank top at QVC. Please consider doing this for us next year with that drape neck in an elbow sleeve top. Would love to see a bright ruby red.
Thanks for listening.
Today is a great day for us Linea lovers! Will you consider a steel gray pant for a future show? I would love to add that to my collection. Thank you Louis!
I second that motion for steel gray pants. I ordered everything this season that was offered in steel gray and all I’m missing are pants. (See, sometimes I order non-green things, too!)– blinddogs
I guess you never got the steel gray pants from a few seasons back. I know you wanted the a pant in graphite too, and spruce green too…..greedy little song bird….LOL I’ll see what I can do!…..regards, Louis
I do have the grey crepe pants that had the matching jacket, but I thought they were lighter than the steel grey of this season. I’ll have to pull them from the “archives” and try them with the new this season things.
Yes, I’ll plead Gordon Gekko in the film “Wall Street”– ‘greed is good’ — when it comes to Linea pants. Love that graphite jacket and matching pants would be a dream come true. And green is always on my list. Thanks for all you do for us!– Blinddogs
Dear Wild Rose,
I will definitely add that to my list of customer requests!I actually have done a steel gray pant in the passed but worth repeating…….regards, Louis
Did the new real suede black and aubergine jacket not make the October shows? It isn’t anywhere on QVC
Looks like they might be saving it for a One Time Only?
Wouldn’t that be the best?
Hi,
I guess you know by now the suede jacket was on the 6pm show…….regards,
Louis
LDO–Q about the new lurex top. The measurements seem very small compared to the paisley peasant top (insert throbbing heart emoticon here) so there are concerns about how to order. I know the outer material is very stretchy but is the underpinning that is sewn into the garment stretchy too?
Hi
Hope this helps. I had the same concern when ordering. I watched the show this morning and if you check out the video of both the blouse and the skirt, he shows that there is stretch in the lining. I believe it was the skirt presentation where he actually said the lining has stretch. Based on that I went with my usual size. Hope I was right. You might want to review the videos.
Sorry not to get back to you sooner but I was in PA when your e-mail came through. This top is totally different from the paisley top so you can’t compare. The paisley top is definitely bigger and because it has raglan sleeves it feels lose on the body. The lurex top has a set in sleeve so the measurements will definitely be smaller. I think you should go with the size you would buy for any woven blouse or shirt with a set in sleeve. Let me know how it works out……
……………LDO
Dear Louis,
I was not able to order the aubergine suede jacket with zipper trim (A218571). Where can I get that…it’s beautiful, I love the color aubergine and it goes with so many different outfits. Thank you for your cooperation. Best Regards.
Dear nicole,
I’m not sure why you couldn’t order it? It was on the 6pm show and is still avail………..I think……………regards, Louis
Louis, so glad you are on air AND that the horrid storm here in the DC area that knocked out power when you started has now subsided and I can order order order. What is it with your shows being timed with crazy weather?!!
BOHO BOHO–thanks for letting me know the next color coming up. Will any of the brights be coming back?
What color Boho would have, or will, work with the navy floral top? Pink? I missed out on the forest green, but I love this top and will wear it allllllllll year. Too much to wear the navy subtle zebra stripe jacket with this top?
Thanks again. So glad you are getting your well deserved praises on air tonite/this morning. YES!!! a designer should know how to sew. Love to you and Jacques.
Dear Carol,
There are no bright colors coming back in the Boho and I don’t think any of the existing colors will really work with the floral print tops…..not sure about the new chambray blue. There is the other tiered georgette skirt with the elastic hip section that does come in navy. Have you tried that style?. I usually don’t mind mixing fabrics but I think the zebra might be pushing it a wee bit………I don’t know how anyone can claim to be a designer without knows the basics of the craft…it’s like a plumber not knowing how to use a wrench…………..regards, Louis
Louis,
I missed the long riding skirt in black. It was gone in a flash. So, I ordered the cassis before it was gone in my size and the drape and fit of the knit fabric are amazing. Now I want the black and steel grey riding skirts even more. Any chance of a reorder, even next fall? I’ll wait and count the days if there is, because your skirt is worth it. in the meantime, I am eager to order some of your new arrivals. Thank you for posting the list so I can strategize this time. Mostly, Thank you for your wonderful, quality designs. And, I’m thrilled to be able to email you like this and have a conversation of sorts.
Best to you and your lovely wife,
Julia
Dear Julia,
There is always a chance. It usually takes 3 months for QVC to make the decision whether an item meets the criteria for being a reorder….from the date of it being on air……so I won’t know for quite a while….let’s keep our fingers crossed that there aren’t too many returns……I will have two great new sweaters on Thurs, 5am show that will match the cassis perfectly…..regards, Louis
Louis,
Thank you for taking the time to reply with all you must have going on to get ready for the shows. I really appreciate it. I doubt there will be any returns on that riding skirt because it is such high quality for the price, so slimming, so comfortable, and makes you feel good wearing it. I’m planning on getting the sweaters tomorrow…and a lot more.
Julia
Hi Louis. I can’t sleep I am so excited for the upcoming shows. The list is amazing, expected nothing less of course 🙂 I own everything, well almost. It all matches and lasts and is easy to care for–something this disabled mermaid needs. I’m blond and 5’9″ so thanks for not ignoring taller ladies. Still love that cargo line you did of shirts, jackets, short sleeve jackets, etc.
I AM LOOKING FOR floral hydrangea print top A213615 PINK 2X. Miraculously, the navy just fell into my lap, obviously used, from QVC, but QVC has no record of it and I can’t imagine how long I have waited for the navy. ANY CHANCE GETTING THE PINK? Love this print and it’s so comfortable and I am moving to FL for health reasons. Have the other pieces.
ALSO, I am going to love all the new skirts, but please we need more BOHO NOW. NAVY for sure, and your new green, etc ad infinitum. Already have black, brown and khacki green. You are the best. How do you fit my strange body so well? Thanks for being such a kind individual–it counts. XO
Dear Carol,
Thanks for sharing our story with all of us. The good news is the floral top has been reordered for next spring 2012 and I believe all colors are coming back. The new color for the boho will be chambray blue which will match the classic cotton short with the one breast pocket…..the “Kate” shirt. I will be having lots of new skirts next spring/summer and some are in beautiful new prints……perfect for Florida!……..regards, Louis
Louis,
Will the faux suede faux wrap skirt in dark violet that is coming in December match the purple chenille jacket?
Thanks for all the goodies. My list is growing!
Celtie
Dear Celtie,
It’s not an exact match, but they blend beautifully.
Louis my apologies! Someone has posted the item numbers on the boards. Somehow I missed them here. The other questions are still in question though–I just don’t need the item numbers now. Thanks again!!
Dear Louis, Was wondering if you could clarify some questions about the new jewelry. (it seems we all want the cross lol!) 1.– Since you will not be making an appearance in November, will the jewelry just appear on dot com at some point in November? 2.– Or will there be a presentation of some kind on a jewelry show? 3.– Will you have any idea of when it will appear, or do we just keep checking and plugging in item numbers? 4.– Do we even have the items numbers yet? (sorry I did not check the archives) Thank you in advance!
We (I) appreciate your attention to detail re the upcoming shows–REALLY appreciate being able to make up a list in advance etc. SO looking forward to the shows. Very safe travels to you and your bride. See you in a few days!! Sincerely, Sandi
Wow, it is a small world. It’s true, I know Barbara for many years. Three degrees of separation!
Hi Louis: I’m just back from New York where I visited with Barbara Flood who tells me she’s crazy about you and Jaq and has been for many years. Small world.
For Kate re: A210369/Roma Ponte Knit Dress. I don’t know what size you need, but there is a 2X back in stock.
Hah–I was up early (full moon fever) and scanning my wish list only to find a size medium in stock! Some alterations needed but hey, I got my dress and I am happy!!!! Thanks Karen B for thinking of me.
LDO–the cleaners lost my treasured LBD you did for us in Roma ponte (A210369) which is, alas, long gone from the Q’s inventory. Please make it all better by telling me you are doing another little black dress for us in the near future? (Just an aside–I went looking for a replacement and the nearest I found in style and fabric was Diane von Furstenburg–at $425.00)
Also, I am a little stumped by the color ‘taupe’ (new chenille jacket)–is it like a pinkish beige or a creamy oyster? And, other than ivory, what colors go with it?
Thanks and I can’t wait for this week’s shows. So happy to see the 6pm show–inching closer to primetime!
My Dear Kate,
I have many little black dresses sketched for Fall 2012……now I have to get them to buy one.
I really hesitate to describe colors because everyone sees color differently. Blue eyed people see colors slightly differently than brown eyed people…..or so I have been told.I would say it is more of a beige with a little bit of gray. However, because it is chenille if does reflect colors……for instance right now in the early morning light it has a pink caste to it. Almost any color works with it…..black, navy, dark charcoal gray, brown, olive, aubergine etc etc. As for top colors all that I have mentioned plus pastels like pink, chambray blue, aqua, lilac and brights too…. oranges and sienna….etc. etc. The only iffy colors are colors that you try to match exactly to the taupe. They have to be the same cast. The fawn is too warm a color and is a miss-match…..otherwise….it’s all good……….LDO
Greige right? Greige is the new taupe, I hear. Thanks for the tips on what goes-I am so buying this new jacket. As for LBD2012, fingers crossed.
Greige……correct!
I have come across many greige boots online as well.
If the greige LDO choose for this jacket is a gorgeous as it sounds, I’ll be taking the garment to the paint store for a color match! My bedroom is painted the color of fog rolling on over the Maine coast (seriously, it is that exact color) but I’m looking for something a bit warmer. Paints by LDO–what a great idea!
OOooo…that’s an excellent idea. I’ve had my pots matched…but had not thought about matching clothing for color. I LIKE that. And you know…HGTV has a line of paints at Sherwin Williams…I think your idea of the LDO paints would work.
Hah–let’s work on getting scarves and hats first!
Scarves and hats and gloves….oh my!
excellent idea…
Hi Louis,
What are the differences in color in the cassis, the aubergine and the merlot? There looks to be some differences on my computer, but I know I can’t really go by those colors.
thanks
Sherry in KS
The Cassis is more of a deep Fuchsia color the, the Aubergine is a deep wine color……..is there anything in Merlot?
Hi Louis,
The merlot is listed in the Oct-Dec shows list as A220044 band cowl tunic w/pockets.
thanks a bunch
Sherry
Ah yes……Merlot. Well Merlot I would say is a cross between wine and raspberry. It is not as dark as the aubergine. As I said to Kate….it really is impossible to describe a color. From my description you could imagine anything! It really is more raspberry than wine and probably should not have been named Merlot. I will say it is very pretty and more of a mid range color as opposed to a deep dark color. I think it’s a great winter color for the south too.
Thanks foe trying….on the colors. I’ve always been a warm color girl, loving the browns and rust colors. But, for some reason the wines and burgandys have peaked my interest this year.
thanks for your time
ready for the shows
Sherry
Dear Louis,
I know that the new jewelry won’t be in the upcoming show, but I’m still thinking about it! I was wondering if you could give the measurements for the byzantine cross? As a petite woman, I’m a little concerned about the size (but I looove it!). Of course, I’m dying to read the lineup for your shows on the 13th. So much to look forward to!
Dear Yvette,
The Byzantine cross is 3 inches long plus a 1/4 inch vale and it is 2 1/4 inches wide. Each arm of the cross is aprox. 3/8ths of an inch wide. It is double sided…..meaning there both sides look exactly alike with stones on both sides. It is an amazing piece and really should be show cased in a Saks or any high end store. Don’t forget….it is double dipped in GOLD and is nickle free.If you love it don’t be concerned about the size. You will get nothing but compliments!
………..regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
This was just what I needed. Now don’t laugh, but I made a paper cross based on your measurements. I even got carried away and colored it according to the pictures you posted, lol. Then I posed with my creation. My conclusion is that this is a “must have,” not too big for petite Linea ladies at all. Must have the matching necklace, too, of course. Thanks for creating these beautiful pieces!
I’m not laughing at all. I was going to suggest you do that. Also the chain that comes with the cross is fine so it won’t look heavy or bulky….regards, Louis
Hello Louis. I just had to let you know I got the riding jacket! Holy Teledo! It is a beauty! I got it in the fawn in medium and large just to make sure of the fit. I am keeping both as I want to make sure no matter what size I am, I have it! Now, I love it so much I checked every day to see if the red would come back on the site. Sure enough, a large came back and I never hit that button so fast to aquire something in my life. It has been shipped. Great job! Love it! Now, if I can just have a medium riding skirt come back in the steel grey and black I would be a happy camper. QVC doesn’t bring enough quantity in the medium size. It always sells out first and there are never many returns to order after the fact. Wha! Louis, you are the best!
Dear Carmille,
I am so happy you liked the equestrian jackets!!I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get the riding skirts……….regards, Louis
Good afternoon Louis!
Do you know if A213272, the scoopneck short sleeve top is being reordered in the white color? Also A215181, the short sleeve Top with gold metallic trim in the ivory color?
Hi Chris,
The A213272, is not being reordered and there isn’t a final decision about the A215181 at this time………regards, Louis
Dear Louis,
Just had to say Thank You. Another rainy dreary day trip to visit my dad in the nursing facility. At 85, with Parkinsons’ and confusion from medications, one never quite knows how clear he’ll be on any given day … I put on my Black Brushed Cotton Jacket with the Zipper Trim, and added a white T shirt with a pleated scooped neck, and black jeans. The day was so dark and damp, I opened the jewelry box and added a couple of ounces of New Mexico turquoise and silver jewelry to cheer myself up … when we walked in, Dad looked up from the wheelchair and said “Oh, you are all dressed up; you look so nice!” MADE MY DAY, thanks to you! To top off the evening, I found a Calvin Klein tank covered with tiny teeny little sequins in subtle shades of gunmetal, soft gold and a little bit of purple with a hint of a little animal print pattern to it. Not at all the type of thing this older lady usually wears, but when I put it on under that jacket, the saleslady and I both said “MUST HAVE”! So wish I’d been fast enough to get that jacket in Olive; it’s so well designed; I do wish QVC would reorder; it would be fantastic for spring in Navy, Red … and more. THANKS AGAIN,
Cathy in PA
Dear Cathy,
Thanks for sharing that story. My parents lived in a retirement village and I always brought my mother clothing presents, which she loved. She would tell me her stories of all the women oohing and ahhing over what she wore. It made my day too. She always wore pencil skirts until the day she passed at 96. She would say to me “I still have great legs so I’m going to show them off and not hide them under pants”. The truth of the matter is…..she did have unbelievably GREAT legs! She went to heaven in her favorite outfit….an ivory silk blouse and a black pencil skirt. I’m sure she’s wowing them with her beautiful legs.
………..best regards, Louis
We need a “like button” That’s a wonderful story Louis.

Louis, just a note to say that the weather has finally cooled here in Japan, so I was able to wear the black gunmetal-trimmed suit for the first time today: what a pleasure to wear! So nice to be able to wear a light sweater under a jacket and still look trim and shaped, yet feel soft and comfortable, with no constriction anywhere. And the compliments just wouldn’t stop! Even my favorite cashier at the grocery touched my arm and said, “tsurutsuru–aka-chan, ne?” meaning “so smooth, like a baby’s bottom, isn’t it?” YES!
“Smooth as a baby’s bottom”…….nice. Enjoy!
Hi Louis,
I have a problem. I just received the quilted jacket and it is tight in the upper arms…when arms are up as if driving. I wear the xl. My question is whether the 1x would be too large everywhere else? The xl fits nicely everywhere, but not enough room for a thick sweater. Wanted to see what you thought about the size differences. Btw, the jacket is beautiful and the perfect weight for the milder months during Kansas’ winter.
thanks
Sherry from Kansas
Dear Sherry,
I have no problem with you going up a size especially if you found the arms small in the XL. Jac ordered the jacket up a size because she likes to layer with sweaters. If your intent is to layer with say…..a shirt and sweater the 1X will be fine…..let me know how it works out……regards, Louis
Hello Louis. Well, I must ask since someone else asked about the Robyn shirt, will the Kate shirt come back in the spring in the perfectly pink?
It is definitely coming back, but I ‘m still waiting to hear what color they are buying…..my suggestion was PP
