…………….Taking these bold colors and COLOR BLOCKING them was a natural progression…..All of the clothes shown here were in my signature exclusive to me….wool crepe…..The coat on the left was HALF HOT PINK….the front….and half RED, the back….Even the RAGLAN SLEEVE was bi color with a seam down the center…..The sleeveless dress had an empire yoke. The top was HOT PINK and the bottom was RED….All of the accessories….shoes and tights were dyed to match…..Gayle in the center is wear a color block blazer over a stripe knit tank and a bi color skirt the front being hot pink and the back red!….To get the yarns for the sweater, done in the Florence area of Italy, to exactly match to the wool crepe made in Northern Italy…..took many lab dips and trials…In the end it worked perfectly as one would expect…..but this was no easy feat!…..The model to the right is wearing a topper…..ALL of the HORIZONTAL STRIPES were cut and sewn together creating this bold stripe….The knit short sleeve sweater under the topper was in yet another smaller stripe…..The slim leg straight pant was RED!……You needed great confidence to wear these clothes!!!

…………………..My nephew Chris is coming to visit with me today…….GOING FISHING……..not really……just spending a lovely day together…I’m making dinner and I’ve made a LEMON CHEESECAKE……..his favorite!

The incomparable SARAH VAUGHN. When God made her he broke the mold. There just aren’t voices like hers anymore…..and they certainly don’t write music like that anymore! SAD…..and she was sick during this performance!

……..There is only one Sarah Vaughn….When God made her he broke the mold…..There just aren’t voices like hers anymore….or at least voices that don’t get heard….and they DON”T WRITE SONGS like that anymore!….SAD

………………The Anne Klein Spring 1991 collection consisted of three distinct groups…………..BLACK & WHITE……..BOLD COLOR……..and BLACK & BAMBOO……..The photo of Gayle shows a Black and Bamboo bold print jacket made of a heavier weight silk….ETRO made this “discharge” print for me in Italy. The three button, lined in silk, jacket had a cutaway bottom and long slim sleeves….with a jewel neckline….The easy pant she is wearing it with was made in the same quality of silk in a solid bamboo color…..The earrings and bracelet were large teardrop gold beads incased in clear resin…..The beads and the chain was 18 karat gold plate…statement pieces……..The WHOLE LOOK was one BOLD STATEMENT!!!

………………I created for my Spring 1991 Anne Klein collect a number of pieces in Bamboo and Black, but it was the PRINTS that made the dominate statement……ALL done for me by ETRO…….At left, the model is wearing a bamboo silk tank edged in black, a bamboo silk draped front skirt, and an ABSTRACT print elongated blazer in silk……To the right, Gayle is wearing a shawl collar chiffon blouse in an abstract LOTUS print, with a silk KNIT tank and silk bamboo trousers with a wide calf fabric belt…….When I started designing for QVC I created a version of this Lotus print, also on a silk georgette………both versions sold very well…….at very different prices!
