…………………….On the same trip Jac and I went on to BARBUDA in the Caribbean….once again I way laying on a lounge chair on the beach…..I positioned the chair under one of many palm trees that provided some shade from the Caribbean SUN!……I happened to open my eyes, and the sun light was streaming through the swaying palm fronds……I remember thinking it was beautiful, and grateful for the shade it provided and the lovely breeze……Once again my mind started to dream of what I could design using these beautiful palm leaves…….a print?…….jewelry??……I then thought the palm design would make a wonderful addition to the “fish jewelry”……and so again I pulled out my little pad and pen from my beach bag, and started to sketch……..The long earring and necklace on Ali, who is wearing them with NAVY SILK PIECES, is just one of the incarnations I came up with…..Matt, who was in charge of bringing my ideas to fruition, did a fantastic job on recreating my sketches……There were a variety of different palm designs in necklaces, earrings and belts too……Years later I recreated these pieces for my ladies at QVC…………and they LOVED them too……..I have never seen anything anywhere that remotely looks like these gorgeous pieces……If you own them…..I hope you are still enjoying wearing them….The “PALM PRINT”…..showed up on a later collection for both ANNE KLEIN……and QVC!……….A good idea……..is a GOOD IDEA!

………………….Yesterday, July 5th, I invited my friends…..Abel, a Parsons school chum, who also just happened to be Jac’s booker at her modeling agency…..and Tina, who wore many hats in the Fashion business….working with Ralph Lauren…..an editor for Vogue…..and  running “SELF MAGAZINE”…just to name a few hats she wore…..and Tina’s partner…..Frank….who is a true character, and a book or movie should be made about his life and stories……He too was in the fashion biz, and knew everyone…I just don’t know if his stories could ever go into print!!!!…LOL…I picked them up at the train station at 2:30 in the afternoon, and on to my home we went…..It was Tina and Franks first time at my house and the view of the Long Island Sound got them immediately!….It was Tina’s birthday, and I made a celebratory dinner……starting with an Insalata Caprese…baked marinated chicken…honey glazed carrots, and roasted potatoes…..For desert I made a LEMON CHEESECAKE….which everyone enjoyed………After dinner we went outside, and sat by the waterside with the fire pit blazing, almost a full moon on a clear night, glowing on the water…..I gifted Tina with two vintage “FISH NECKLACES”…….the long “School of Fish” necklace and the “Fish pendant”….which she loved…..It was almost midnight when the party ended and I drove them to the train station…..heading back to NYC…….A fun time was had by all!

……………….Jac and I LOVED the summer……..SPRING. AUTUMN, and WINTER TOO……but especially the summer days and nights……We rented a house on Fire Island for many years….It was a great escape from the city heat…..This was before we moved to CT, and bought a home on the Long Island Sound……The picture is of us on the dock at F.I…..We had just finished dinner, and we stopped to see the sun set on our way back to the house which was on the ocean…with a wonderful pool!….We loved to sit on our deck or in the hot tub, and Jac would point out all of the constellations to me….I was always amazed at how much she knew about everything!……Now, that summer is here….I look back and remember, and miss those cherished times we had together.

…………NEVER IN MY LIFE TIME…….has INDEPENDENCE DAY……had more MEANING!!!!…….When it seems our liberties are being taken away every second of every day…..we must remember …..THIS TOO WILL PASS!……When this administration is nothing more than a horrible memory, and the tyranny we are forced to live under, because gullible people believed the lies that were fed to them….is finished…we will prevail!…It is unfathomable to me that this has taken place in such a short time in this great country….It just glaringly proves how fragile the links to democracy are…..It only took one monster of a man, and his despicable, greedy, power hungry followers to tare this country apart…..Does this remind you of anyone else in history….I guess history does repeat itself!…….However….I have faith that TRUTH and HONOR will return….and….until that day arrives WE ALL MUST DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER to hold firm, because we are on the right side of history…..and GOOD always wins over evil!……..HAPPY 4th of JULY to all of the PATRIOTS of this great nation!

…………..For my Anne Klein Resort 1991 Collection I designed a fabulous group of “FISH JEWELRY”……..I remember the day Jac and I were away on the Caribbean Island of BARBUDA….The hotel we stayed at was….”The K Club”. It was owned by Mariuccia Mandelli and her husband Aldo Pinto. Mariuccia was a famous Italian fashion designer, and Jac walked her runway many times…..Wherever I traveled I always had a very small sketch book and a pen to jot down inspirations that might come to me……As I was standing in the water. almost to my knees, a school of fish kept swimming around me. I stood perfectly still and was mesmerized by them…..When I got back to my lounge chair and laid down…my mind started to wander….and then it came to me….FISH JEWELRY…..I feverously started to draw. When I got home from the trip I continued to develop my ideas until I was happy with all of it! The idea of Fish Jewelry became an assortment of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and even BELTS, in a variety of sizes and materials from all metal in silver and gold with color eyes on both sides….to clear resin fish with metal heads and a bottom tail fin….strung together with a fine gold chain……..The group was an instant hit with the buyers, and all of the many women who saw them, and purchased them from jewelry cases in all of the major stores and fine boutiques…..The models are wearing two draped cotton jersey dresses….perfect for traveling to exotic places……Years later I did some of the “fish pieces” for QVC…..The hanging fish pendant sold out immediately and kept reordering until the day I left QVC……It has become a TRUE COLLECTORS PIECE………So…….those of you who still own these unique one of a kind pieces…..take good care of them, and they will last a long long time!
