“APRIL SNEAK PEEK #5”

“Sneak Peek #5” is my 92%cotton/8%span knit MAXI DRESS, A223658. This is the dress that , color wise. coordinates to the shrug in sneak peek #4.

For me, it’s got everything you may want in a dress……..it’ simple, it’s easy to wear, it’s easy to take care of,Β  it’s easy to pack, it can be worn super casual or it can be worn very dressy. You can accessorize it as SIMPLY or as OVERΒ  THE TOP as you want. Wear it with flip flops or beaded sandals……In other words make it YOURS! The neckline is a modest TANK….not too high….not too low. It has PRINCESS seams front and back. The shape is at the rib cage and then gently flares out to the hem….PEARS are you listening? LOL.Β  It really is a dress for all. Keeping the fit higher and not at the natural waist is ELONGATING. The dress is approx. 52 inches long for an XS. For those who would rather be tortured than go with bare arms….. you can have the shrug that will solve that problem, A223660. NOW….let meΒ  be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR….the dress is made out of cotton/span….the shrug is Rayon/nylon…..no matter how many labs dips we had both factories try [both garments are made in two separate factories], the colors are NOT an exact dead on match…..different dyes take color differently. Do they blend….ABSOLUTELY….do I recommend you wearing them together…ABSOLUTELY. Of course, you can always mix match as I did with the black over the reef green. I would also love the VIOLET with the REEF GREEN…..the right accessories will make it work…..don’t have your accessories match your dress….BORING!!! That said I love all black on black….so do what you want! The colors of the dress are the same as the shrug….BLACK, REEF GREEN and VIOLET. The thing I love about maxi dresses is….when you get tired of “The LOOK’ and the fad dies, as we all know it will,…..all of the maxi dresses I have done for you will also look great SHORTENED to whatever length you want……..for those of you with great legs make them as short as you dare….you can even cut them to TUNIC lengths, 28-29 inches, and wear them with Capris etc. etc. Now you have all that EXTRA fabric to play with! …..head bands, infinity scarves, sashes etc. etc.I know you are all going to LOVE this dress!…………………………………………..Enjoy, Love, Louis

When we go we want to try “Le Grand Colbert” bistro. It’s the restaurant that Jack Nicholson, Keanu Reeves and Diane Keaton ate at in their film. You must go to the Louvre Museum and if you have time a trip out to Versaille is incredible. It’s not a long train ride and well worth it.

          1. Vicki

            Hi Louis

The Lourve and Versaille are on my list.. we try to check out the bistro ..sounds like fun.

            Thank you

looking forward to the show with all the fabulous sneak peeks.. I am getting spoiled with your wonderful designs.. I rarely shop anywhere else and if I do I am always thinking how any item compares to your designs… guess who always wins … πŸ™‚

            Thank you

This is a perfect dress! I love it. Will I choose black or all three colors?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

You should definitely get more than one…..you never know if it will be reordered and at the price it will be…it’s it needs a little altering, which is easy with this dress, it would be worth it.

    Louis,

This “little pear” is poised to pounce when the newest maxi dress becomes available. The reef green caught my eye, and I want the tonally compatible shrug to go with it. I’m eager to get it — hope the two items do not sell out before I’m able to purchase them. Thank you for providing for the pears of the world.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

From one “Apple” to a “Pear”…..you are very welcome.

Hi, Louis! I’m loving that Violet color. And I already have some very bold vintage American Indian turquoise set in silver jewelry that will look dynamite with it. Now my question. Will the Violet appear in any other things either for the warm weather months or for Fall/Winter? Now let’s HOPE that you have unbanned me and I will be able to see both my post and your response :-). As always, Barbara

This is really beautiful πŸ™‚ Call me odd (many have :), but the photo I like best is …. the black one in the top left corner … backward to show the back neckline … I think this dress would be beautiful and elegant worn this way, backward, with a lower dip in the back, and at the front a spectacular necklace or pendant …

How would you compare the fabric of this dress; it sounds similar to the fabric of the crop leggings?

    Thanks!

    Cathy in PA

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Hi, I don’t think it’s odd that you find the back neckline of this dres pretty for the front of the dress….I’ve done many “Sabrina” neckline dresses. However, because of the princess seaming and the front shaping for the bust….it won’t work as a reversible dress. This is a “Cousin” to the knit legging. It has the same fabric content but the dress is lighter in weight than the legging. The first sample of the dress was made in the legging fabric and ue to the weight it was a little too stiff so we asked the fabric mill to do a lighter version which worked out perfectly…..so I know already that it will wash well and maintain it color………….Louis

Sounds very nice, Louis! And I really LOVE that Violet shrug πŸ™‚

LOVE this dress, especially the shaping because it will make it more versatile. Most tank dresses are cut like a square, so don’t look elegant dressed up with beaded sandals and sophisicated jewelry. Also love that it is cotton! Can’t wait to be able to order it!

  8. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

I love this in all three colors – will live in this all summer long! Add the shrug and it expands into spring and fall! Is there any chance you are proposing the necklace on the Reef Green Dress for the Q to purchase? It is outstanding!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No….. not yet….Aren’t you going to a wedding in Greece this summer? I have three more dresses coming in May.

      1. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

The wedding in Greece is June 22, 2013. They delayed a year. I am stocking up on your dresses so that I will have many options! πŸ™‚

  9. Sherry

Louis this looks fantastic. A tank maxi dress that’s NOT a tent, bravo. Love the colors as well. I’ll have to get in touch with Yvonne, again, LOL. She is such a doll to work with. Thanks for all the hard work and time you put into your designs.

  10. Carol

I can see this dress at dinner by the beach or strolling through the farmer’s market on a
Sunday afternoon. Green and violet for me! Just hope it’s long enough for the taller girls.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Jac had it on with flat sandals and she loved it if that helps….she’s 5 “10” & 1/4″

  11. Dariann

    Louis,

This is just what I have been waiting for! The black one is for me – too bad your ladies have to wait until the end of the month for this beauty.

Happy Easter to you, Jac & the girls,
    Dariann

  12. Debbie M

Dear Louis, I love this! What is the length of this dress? Keep those peeks coming!

  13. Mary (Shopsy)

Love the colors, love the fabric, love it with the shrug. I love basics that you can dress up with accessories….

  14. Victoria

Can’t think of any more superlatives….except this dress is sensational…perfect piece for women building a cohesive fashionable wardrobe….thank you Louis and Jac!
