“The Show”

During the show I had the strangest feeling that something was wrong…..intuition! I thought the models looked great and the clothes looked just as I wanted them, but something seemed flat…Jane and I were doing our best, but something felt wrong……no dots, no callers…..”wasn’t anyone watching? After the show I went to the Operations Desk with Jane to see how the show did, and they told us there was a “glitch”…..What kind of glitch? they weren’t sure, but it would be best to find out how the show did tomorrow??? Okay, I was too concerned about Jac to worry about glitches that were out of my control! I did my job….I presented a lovely show and the models were beautiful as ever. Amanda replaced Jac and Deanna replaced Brenda who’s away on vacation. This was the first time in 16 years that Jac missed a show so you know this Taurus wasn’t feeling well….It’s her Sacroiliac, and this is a first for her. but as she says it brought her to her knees. I’m taking her to the doctor tomorrow. I went to the forum and read your comments and directed my buyers to it…..we’ll see????

    Dear Louis,

I also want to send my very best wishes to Jac…hope she finds pain relief soon. From my own experience, back/spine issues can be so painful and debilitating. Jac was missed yesterday, and as wonderful as all the models are in showing the clothes, no one is as elegant and graceful. Jac is truly one of a kind, but you already know that!

I watched the show live–it was beautifully presented–and I tried to order several additional pieces throughout the show without success. At one point, I thought the orders went through, because the shopping cart seemed to be working. But, I went back to check 30 minutes after the show, and only my pre-show orders appeared in the order status. I then redid my show order without any glitches, so I think anyone who tried again would be able to do the same. Hopefully, it all works out and QVC makes it up to you in some way. As you rightly point out, all that really matters is taking good care of Jac…the rest will sort itself out. My best to both of you!

I wasn’t able to watch live, but when I got home I tried to place an order for two of the lace-back sweaters (this was several hours after the show by the way) and it took a few tries before the order went through. Clicking on the item from the product page prompted that dreaded “sold out” page we all hate seeing. Eventually, the order went through. I’d pre-ordered the new skort and matching top in both colors as this is just the kind of mix and match separates I need on a daily basis! So glad to have the new lace sweaters.

It was a really lovely show and I have to say that Deanna added a fresh, youthful presence to the line-up. She clearly loved wearing your clothes. And, Jane was really on her game. Just a fun, lovely, I-want-it-all show.

My best to Jac and hopes for a speedy recovery; she posted on her FB page that she was down for the count. As for QVC, well, there’s always next month and perhaps they’ll make it up to you (hey, it could happen).

I wish QVC would give us a pre-sale option for your clothes (like a trunk show) so we could just sit back and relax!

Louis, I wish Jac a speedy recovery.

Your Buyer should schedule a ‘make-up’ Linea Show – this month – in Prime Time!

As a business professional – I just don’t understand the thinking that goes on at the Q!

    hope your wife feels better
I have SI joint issues too, exercise helps but sometimes that’s hard to do.

who decides that website maintenance at 5pm is a good idea, seriously….their IT dept really needs help

    hope your sales were good

I think the “maintenance” sign comes up when something isn’t working. I am sure it was not maintenance , but a severe storm that passed through just 15 minutes before my show. We could hear it in the building, and I Would guess this was the reason for the system failure…..just my luck.

Still it was a delightful show. Hope Jac gets better soon. 😀

    Dear Louis,
My sympathies go out to Jac because I know how painful sacroiliac issues can be. I hope the doctor will be helpful today.
Your show yesterday was wonderful. I streamed it on my iPad as I made dinner and my husband patiently waited until the show was over to sit down to dinner. I always wonder why QVC puts you on at 5:00PM which must be a pretty inconvenient time for many people to be able to see your show.
When I tried to place an order, the message appeared that the website was doing standard maintenance and the order couldn’t be processed. And, indeed, it wasn’t registered until later that evening.
I’ve had the opportunity to buy and wear top quality clothes and I can say that your clothes are the finest on QVC in design and execution. I do not understand why QVC puts you on at odd hours and then schedules computer maintenance during your show.. They should be showcasing you mid afternoon and then again during prime time as the jewel in their crown that you are!
I continue to wish good health to Jac.
    Best regards,
    Ruth

Good wishes to Jac. Lower back problems can be very painful. May she recover quickly.

I’ll just echo what others have said. I did order 3 items while your show was in progress on-line…..but did get that strange “maintenance message”….with assurances the items were on order and would show up “later” on my order list. Early evening…nothing. About 10PM(CDT), they did show up. I can’t believe QVC would do this kind of major “maintenance” in the middle of a busy day and not the wee hours of the morning!

I did enjoy the show, as always. I previously ordered the printed top(I always look at garment measurements) and love it and am waiting on the matching skort. It showed beautifully on TV.

Same here. Could not purchase anything on line and it was very frustrating.
    The show however was wonderful.
    Wishing Jac a speedy recovery.

First, I hope that Jac is feeling much better soon! We missed her presence today but definitely understand why she couldn’t be there. Second, while I often order items before the show, today I waited to see how the new cap-sleeved printed top and skort looked on the models. I was quite glad I waited because of the sizing information you provided with the top, too. But the system “maintenance” or whatever prevented me from ordering online or even calling in to order until nearly two hours after the show. Fortunately I was able to order both pieces in the color I wanted. However, I recall a similar incident happening sometime within the last two or three years like this. While it was quite frustrating, I feel like those who really wanted to order will do as I did and check in later to get the desired items. Sadly your intuition was right.

    Dear Louis,

First, I would like to wish Jac a speedy and full recovery from whatever has made her experience pain.

Next, I had purchased my Turquoise tank and hoodie last night, plus the Navy and Light Khaki sweaters with the lace backs BUT…

… as I furtively watched the show at work, I wanted to buy the sweater in Celadon and could not get my transaction completed. So, I placed a call, and the sweater did show up this evening on my list of purchased items — but not on my list of purchases while I was at work. However, at about the same time I sought to buy the sweater, I decided to buy the brooch in purple; again, I could not complete the purchase! And, it did not show up on my list on my home PC early this evening. I had to reorder it.

My anger and frustration were growing because I thought of potential buyers who had not already bought the lace-back sweater (or any other desired Linea item) and were trying to get it online during the show but eventually gave up. Maybe a spontaneous buyer who does not follow your blog saw the beautiful sweater for the first time and wanted one or two or all three. Because of incomplete buying attempts, that sale was lost and the buyer went on to something else. This is certainly a conceivable scenario. I was livid for you. This is not the first time the bizarre event has happened to you. There have been other “gremlins” before. Remember the time the sheer shirt was cut? I believe Brenda was wearing the one when it became evident. I don’t know, but I get mighty suspicious at times.

    1. Goldie76

The brooch did show up — but very late tonight. I looked at my order again just now; it was not there until 8:30 or so.

Such a mess from QVC! Why would they do maintenance during a busy show hour?

  10. Yvette

Louis, please let Jac know that we are all wishing her the best on her doctor visit tomorrow! As far as today’s show, it was impossible to order anything online or by phone from about 15 minutes before the show and for the entire duration of the show. QVC really ought to give these pieces more air time, given the circumstances. Of course, most of us hung in there and kept trying until we were able to get through after the show, but I have to believe that there were many sales lost due to the glitch. You really deserve to show these designs again.

  11. Cathy Morton

I tried to place my order and an alert came up saying that they were performing regular technical maintenance,I believe. It also said that they had recorded my purchase so I didn’t worry about my order. Perhaps this is what happened. Hopefully all the orders were received. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery for Jac.
