“THE IVORY CREPE GAUZE DRESS”

words3

……………………….CREPE GAUZE…..everyone’s new favorite fabric. Even though I introduced the CREPE GAUZE last year with the sleeveless tunic with the georgette border, and the Crepe Gauze pant in Alabaster and Black, I think it was the new tunics and crop pant that sealed the deal………As I always say…….what’s not to like?????……………Next up in the Crepe Gauze…..the DRESS, A288392…………………From sketch to garment I think a fabulous job was done realizing my design. As you can see the sketch hem is more exaggerated than the actual dress……a compromise on my part….The dress has the look of two pieces, but it’s actually all attached. The dress is totally LINED. The dress lining at the top is attached at the neckline and the armholes, and the “skirt” of the dress. You can actually lift the top portion of the dress……..The skirt part of the dress is attached to this top lining, leaving the top part of the dress free from the skirt creating this “two piece” look. The skirt has an asymmetric hem giving the look of a handkerchief hem line………….Let’s have a brief discussion about asymmetric hem lines. I know there are pros and cons about them. I know some fear they are a passing fad. I will tell you they have become a commonplace detail, and it’s going no where. Variety is the spice of life……….straight bottoms, high/low hems and asymmetric hems keep clothes interesting. Why did I chose to do this style bottom instead of a straight bottom? I thought it gave the dress a wonderful, graceful movement. Something that would have been lost with a straight bottom. With all that said, I know there will still be some who will ask, “can the bottom be straightened out”………..yes, and it should be a very easy alteration since the lining has a straight bottom already. However, I think you should try it on with the proper shoe before you make up your mind. I even think you should wear it out once or twice before making up your minds. I personally think it makes you look longer………….The dress is sized S,M,L. It is approx. 42 1/2 inches long to the center front for the xs……of course the points are longer…..There are no zippers or fastenings…..just pull it over your head……Since the Crepe Gauze is so light and airy, this will be an ideal dress for all of your Spring/Summer occasions whether they are special ones or not. The fit of the dress is very flattering, and the easy fit will hide many body issues you may have. The measurements to look at are the shoulder, but since it is sleeveless the bust will be the most important measurement to consider. Also, the lining is the STRETCH tricot knit I always use so there shouldn’t be anything binding……..This is as comfortable as it is beautiful, and should be a joy to wear…..The necklace isn’t avail. It’s from my A.K. archives, but I am submitting it for this Fall……I will say my photos do not do the dress justice………………………………..enjoy…………………much Love………………….Louis
