“JUNE SNEAK PEEK”

The June Sneak Peek is item number A224875. For June there is  one  new item. When I was deciding what should this one item be???????????, I felt it should be something unique and something fun for the summer…….hopefully something that you have nothing like in your wardrobe. I wanted it to be the “cherry on the top” of a wonderful spring/ summer season. I do realize that it is so unique it may not be for everyone, but for those of you who are always searching for that special something…..I hope you find that in this tunic. As you can see this is sort of a lace/fishnet paisley patterned top. It comes with it’s own poly jersey tank for when you want to wear it tonal…..but this top is way more versatile than you would first think. That is the reason I have posted two pictures of this top. The colors are simple….BLACK and OLIVE. I felt you all have many things that will work with both colors. In the photo above you will see the black tunic over a white tank and white Capri pants or the black Boho……….or the black tank and the black Boho. It would be perfect over a little black tank dress and sandals or if you don’t own a tank dress……a black tank, a black pencil skirt. or a black, short georgette skirt. In this picture I have the olive paired with my Chino crop pant that many of you own…..it would look really fun with the cargo pant too for an outrageous safari look. Of course, all of my olive pieces will work with this top……Capri pants, solid Bohos, the printed paisley Boho. the Black/Gray mosaic Boho, and all the Whisper Knit sweaters………Proceed to picture #2

Louis, General question about your June show: any anoraks in the line-up? Have to go out on a boat. Looking forward to the show!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No anoraks, but the white one, I believe, is still avail….perfect for a boat with navy or jeans.

  2. Ann

Louis, I love the lace knit top. I’d like to get both colors. Do you know the length & chest measurements in XL? Thanks for the information.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Anne,
The length of the XS is 26-27 inches…..add 1/2 inch per size….so it should be about 29-30 inches long for an XL….but don’t quote me, I ‘m just guessing. I do not know the bust measurement. You should buy this according to the tank. If you are normally an XL in a tank….then buy the XL. Do not be afraid of this being too big……it’s supposed to be roomy not skimpy!

  3. Susan (aka Carlytwila)

Louis – This will be great for travel. I have things to go with both colors, and even an olive bathing suit – so I must have both! 🙂 “See” you on the 24th!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Susan,
I tried it over some print I have and it looks fun even over a print. Someone mentioned it over the black long tank cotton knit tank dress, which will look fabulous……actually over any of them…..with some chunky long black beads and cuffs. Just throw it over anything!

    Dear Louis and Jac,

You certainly did make my life easier this spring and earlier summer, especially when traveling. I found the same lovely ivory and black floral maxi dress traveled to Florida in my vintage travel trailer to dance with my husband and grandson for our 41st anniversary, and then rolled up to go to California for a military memorial service and Hawaiian luau memorial party … cool, comfortable, not a worry or a wrinkle in sight … Thank You!

Also found the 3/4 sleeve boat neck tunic to be the most perfect all day into night airline top for the same reasons, and cool in a hot plane before takeoff, yet a light covering when the plane gets cold a 30,000 feet …

    Thank You Again!

  5. Carol

Love it, of course. Both colors, of course. Dressy and casual, of course.

Can you share how the lace top is made? Is it a cotton blend? Is it a woven lace or is it laser cut? Where are the seams?

Thanks for topping of the summer with a sweet, juicy cherry!

    Sicnerely,
    crdlb

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
The fabric is 100% Polyester which will make it much more durable than cotton. It will also keep it’s color and shape better. Washing is also easier, so it really is an easy care garment. It isn’t a “lace” in the classic sense. It’s a novelty fabric and I’m not 100% sure if it’s woven or knitted. It has normal side seams and armhole seams and the neckline, hem and sleeves are finished off with piping made from the same poly knit as the tank. I think it really is a fun but useful little cherry…………..regards, Louis

Louis–how DO you read my mind?

This is exactly what I have been looking for, and I’ll grab in both colors! Just so you know, this style, lace anything, tiered short and full flippy skirts as well as maxi skirts and dresses are totally on trend with my University students here in Japan. I now work in a major city, and the students tell me they feel a need to dress up more.

Your father’s saying rings true: there’s been a lot of sadness in my life recently, but seeing this today cheers me: thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Jmarie,
There are always reports in Women’s Wear Daily about what the youth are wearing in Japan. They are very fashion forward and take a lot of care with their total appearance….hair, makeup, clothes and all accessories. I think the boys are just as fashion conscious as the girls. I’m glad I’m on trend with the “Fashion Forward ” Japanese youth!
I am happy to hear I was able to cheer you up from so far away…..regards, Louis

Louis, this lace tunic is lovely and a girl can never have too much black! I am already thinking of the ways that I will wear it.

    Thanks for another great design,
    Dariann

  8. Barbara in Virginia

LOVE this, Louis!!!! It will be coming with me to Vienna for sure. Will our normal size work for layering it over a Whisper Knit T-neck or one of the faux charmeuse blouses? I would wear this to the opera in a heartbeat 🙂

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Barbara. I know you are sometimes a small sometimes a med. The tank is stretch poly jersey so you really should go with the size of the tank. Even though the tunic looks large, because it has a deep sleeve armhole, it collapses once it is on the body. The bottom is also tapered in slightly so you don’t want it tight around the hips. You can definitely layer it over any of the things you mentioned and if you have your own tank you don’t have to wear the poly tank we supply. For me, these types of garments look better bigger than skimpy……they should float and not touch the body. I am assuming you are thinking of the black since I know olive is not your favorite. I would say med for you. You can always wear something super skinny underneath.

      1. Barbara in Virginia

Thanks so much, Louis! I completely agree that with this kind of garment, bigger is better than more form fitting. I understand what you mean about “collapsing” when worn. I will likely wear (the black!) with a tank at the beginning of the three week stay in Vienna and with something heavier toward the end of the trip. Everything I take will have to do multiple duty and layering will definitely be in order as the weather gets cooler as the month progresses. This definitely fills the bill!!! Thanks, again! Barbara

PS-I am told that the Viennese still “dress”. Music to my ears!

Louis, you had me at black lace. But I’m crazy about the black lace done in this funky, relaxed silhouette. I’ll be grabbing this one at midnight!

  10. Nancy (aka smilesalot)

WOW! I am so excited to see this top. I’m getting both black and olive..my most versatile colors ever.
I have so many things to wear with this set.

Wish the Q were open early in the AM ; I live close enough to drive out and actually “SEE” you and company on June 24th.

Thanks for a wonderful new addition to the Linea Line!

  11. Judy

OOOOOOOO! Love it! Thank you, Louis!

Almost every day when I choose my outfit, I want to send you a fan letter for making my (wardrobe) life so effortless! You give me so many options to look great and be comfortable for a price I can afford. I feel like so many other things in life are so complicated, and I am thankful that getting dressed, thanks to your designs available on the Q, is easy, fun, and lovely.

Unfortunately, I don’t find a lot of extra time to interact with you, but I do try to keep up on things from your posts here and the ladies’ posts on the Q BB and Jac’s FB postings, and I appreciate everyone’s help in sharing their knowledge. That camaraderie and your generosity, honesty, attention to detail, and talent makes me even happier to be a part of your clientele. All the best to Jac, and please have a wonderful summer!

PS When you get a minute, will you ask your webmaster how we can access older pages under the “Ask Louis” tab? Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Judy,
I couldn’t agree with you more….every day seems harder and hard and the problems seem to build up…..my father had an expression “life is tough and then you die”……not the cheeriest expression but sometimes it rings true. If I can make your life or anyone’s life a little more pleasant and a little easier…….that makes me very happy. For me that’s what it’s all about, or I would be a different kind of designer…..one who sits in an ivory tower making pretty things and really not caring about anyone but the models who they see wearing it….they do exist…..but that would give me zero satisfaction…..I will ask if there is any way to retrieve old ‘Ask Louis” questions….or just ask me again and start a new thread……regards, Louis

  12. Celia

I would love to have this for all the reasons you have mentioned! For the beach, casual or more dressy occasions!
