“SNEAK PEEK #7”

“Sneak Peek #7 is the “Kate Shirt”, A214116. For those of you who are new to Linea. The “Kate” shirt is my answer to the perfect man tailored shirt. The fabric is cotton/span. The colors are the returning CHAMBRAY BLUE……WHITE……and the new PALE OLIVE. The fine twill cotton shirting was made exclusively for me because I could not find one in the “open market” that I liked…. they were either too thin, too stiff,  or too heavy. The telling is in the WHITE shirt….it is pure luxe. What also separates this shirt is the details…..from the extended tab on the cuff sleeve to the collar stays, which you only find in mens shirts………no CURLING collar points. The shape is all woman with body darts to give just enough shape without being tight. In the photo’s above you will see the ALL AMERICAN LOOK of the IVORY CREPE BLAZER with GLEAMING GOLD BUTTONS….the BLUE CHAMBRAY shirt, and the all American JEANS…..for me it’s a look no European runway can beat and many emulate. Please notice the LINEA GOLD CHAIN NECKLACES and the LINEA GOLD CHAIN HOOP, which happens to be Jac’s favorite new earring!! She wears them every chance she gets. They are also avail in SILVER……GUNMETAL……and ROSE GOLD. You have all seen the new Pale Olive shirt over the Chili Pepper Boho……a simple but fabulous way to look. I have also pictured the P.O. shirt over the OLIVE MOCK NECK, A217630 and worn under the new Pale Olive Herringbone jacket. Also notice in the lower left photo the NEW OLIVE KNIT PENCIL skirt, A09484. I was suppose to bring it to you last year, but due to late deliveries that were quoted to us….it never happened…..so here it is….better late than never. Last but certainly not least is the most important WHITE SHIRT. As far as I am concerned you can never own enough white shirts. You should have some that you launder for every day wear and some that you dry clean for when you want that crisp professional look……..If there was ever a Louis Dell’Olio ‘LOOK’…. it is definitely the center photo……..the STONE HERRINGBONE SUIT with the WHITE SHIRT……accessorized with silver chain hoops and a black croco belt…….pure….. Hepburn…….Lombard……..Dietrich….they all knew how to wear a pair of trousers and a blazer with great elan. I sincerely hope I can continue to bring you what I consider the NUMBER ONE ESSENTIAL………much Love, Louis

Hi Louis — Will the ivory blazer shown above ever come back?

    Thanks,
    Jeanie

I’m wondering the same. I thought I was all set because I have the pearl button jacket in Ivory. No such luck – that jacket has 3/4 sleeves, so it’s a no-go with the Kate shirt.

Such a wonderful blouse – I’m so sorry to hear about the Robyn orders. I love mine!

I agree with Nara – that black croco belt is perfect with the outfit and I have such a hard time finding a good belt. Any thought of designing some for us?? (Fingers crossed!)

Dear Louis, Thank-you so much for the upcoming pantsuit. I can only hope that the jacket is more structured and has more stiffness to it . There is nothing better for our wardrobes then a good suit,I was a working woman and everyday was wearing my suits with either skirts or pants and always looked professional. The men always have had the look, why not we women. My favorite was navy blue or black but fabric is key for longevity and in this day and age is getting harder to find.

I now have 8 of the Kate and wear them constantly but have to admit I don’t always iron mine. I rather like the hung to dry look sometimes rather than the more polished crisp ironed look. I hope next season you can bring us more colors!

Me too….I can see it in a range of colors. It always depends on how it sells if they repeat it. I think the Robyn shirt is kaput.

        Hi Louis,

I’m sorry to hear this about the Robyn shirt. I love the fit of this shirt — even more so than the Kate. I have it in all 3 colors, but when I read that this might be the end of them, I immediately went to the QVC website and ordered a second navy before they’re gone. This is a great shirt!

Can’t wait for the herringbone jackets and trousers at the end of the month. Also, after stalking for months, just got another of the tweed tanks in my correct size — hooray! It does pay to stalk.

I was sorry about the Robyn shirt too. I think it is such an essential. I really thought I’d be bringing it back for years in new colors. It was such a big success the first go around, but the reorder was slow…..you can never bet on anything!

AND…..I am so glad you were able to get the tweed sweater, combined with the stone herringbone suit it is SO custom looking and something you would only find in a designer boutique. Actually, that is exactly what Linea is…..a designer boutique.

            1. Sherry

I love my Linea designer boutique.

            Dear Louis,

Thank you for drawing my attention to the “Robyn.” Really, those Linea Ladies who are somewhat new to your line (i.e., not with you at least several years) MUST watch the videos of items that initially “leave them cold.” The Robyn was one of those items for me. Decided to check it out after reading your post and was fully won over. What had looked in the photo like a mannish, lifeless shirt came to life on the video! What a smart look it conveys. Love the split sides. In the end, I might even be in Jane’s camp, preferring the Robyn to the Kate.

I just now purchased the Robyn in the navy. It will go over a tank or thin sweater and be belted. Will add some gold status link necklaces and be on my way. Perhaps more will buy it so that additional colors can be offered. Here’s hoping!

      2. Kate

If I remember correctly it was offered at an odd hour in some random show. Put that shirt in prime time and watch it sprout wings and fly.

  5. Nara

I love the Welsh color combo of olive and dark red but it occurs to me that what really makes it is that smashing red belt! Is it available and who is it by? It looks to be the perfecr accessory to the outfit.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Nara……it is a very old belt from my archives. I have had it for yeas and have never used it much, but it just happened to be perfect with this group of clothes. That’s why I strongly believe in collecting accessories, even if you think you have nothing to wear them with…..they will eventually come in useful.

All I can say is “Who wouldn’t want to look like that!”

    Dear Louis,

You are so right that the white blazer, blue chambray “Kate” shirt and jeans make up a quintessentially all-American look. Europeans adore it, as you have written and know so well. It’s one of the classic U.S. fashion statements. I recall that Lady Diana was often attired in a similar outfit. She wore it in addition to the blue oxford shirt/khaki pant look that she was so fond of.

It’s hard to believe that I’m writing this, but several days ago I ordered my first “Kate” shirt, and it is the pale olive one. (You have me under your benign fashion spell, I swear.) I plan to wear it over tank tops and light sweaters. It will be a fashion departure for me for I tend to favor softly clinging fabrics with my hour-glass sort of shape. Plus, you know I’m somewhat plump from those hot dogs. But I’m going for this look! It’s invigorating to surprise folks with a new fashion personality. By the way, Louis, your signature look is nothing short of exquisite.
