Etruscan beads

There have been some questions about the quality of the beads used in the Etruscan set. Yes, they are plastic….but….as I always tell you there are all different qualities. These are called Copper Coated Plastic beads, and I have used them many times in the past. You probably own them without realizing it!. These, as someone mistakenly said, are NOT junk!…I take personal offense with this remark…The “plastic” bead is first coated in copper which adheres to the plastic which prevents any pealing what so ever! It’s a chemical thing. Then the beads are replated in the silver tone, gold tone and even the Copper Ox.  Why use copper coated  plastic beads? because they are very light weight, and when you are making a necklace at 72 inches, which no one else does, you want a light weight bead. As I have said I have used this quality many many times before. You may remember the long necklace that came in gold tone oblong beads with clear ruby or emerald beads, also in root beer and chocolate beads….they were copper coated plastic beads. Many of you own the three strand Nugget bead necklace that came in silver tone and gold tone…..yes plastic coated copper beads! When very large beads are used they are not metal….they are usually copper coated plastic beads. For your information the ones that peal are NOT copper coated beads so the plating does not adhere to the bead for very long. These are inferior quality. For those of you who are alway concerned about weight you will love these Etruscan pieces, because they will give you a “statement” look without being weighted down. All I can say is give them a try. I know you will not be disappointed……if it matters to you the models all love them, and they have no idea what they are made of. Don’t let “plastic” scare you away!……on  another note the earring are absolutely weightless, and if you think they are too long for you…..they can be EASILY SHORTENED!…….you should know I would never sell you something of inferior quality. I and TCJC stand behind everything we sell……I will be proudly using Copper Coated beads in the future as I have done in the past, and you will love what’s coming next spring!…much love, Louis

    Hi Louis,

Will these necklaces be coming back to QVC in other colors other than the copper?

Thank you and I enjoy both your clothing and jewelry that you design for QVC.

    1. louis dell'olio

Yes all of the original colors.

A wonderful premier jewelry show! Here’s hoping it’s the 1st of many. Of course I placed a larger order than I initially thought I would, but I know I’ll enjoy/wear all of it.
You explained the inspiration, the workmanship, the details and the versatility of the pieces beautifully. Jayne is an excellent host with you. Relaxed, knowledgeable, interested in your items.
Please don’t fret over the small controversy re the Etruscan beads. We, who know you well, never doubted for a minute the quality would be superb. Your explanation of the jewelry making process was extremely informative. By the way, the poster on the Q board who doubted your integrity has sharp words for everything under the sun. I consider the source.
Have a safe trip back home, be sure to give my warmest thought for quick healing to Jac.

I purchased all three sets plus some other pieces. I never occurred to me to ever doubt these would be anything but top quality. Thank you for you creativity and your adherence to a high standard. Good luck tonight and hope to see many more.

I am not remotely worried. Ordered both the Russian gold & the copper, as well as several other pieces. Your jewelry & standard of quality speak for themselves. I also send Jac my best wishes for the improvement of her health. After having lived in Annapolis for 13 yrs before moving back to Buffalo, I am very familiar with the scourge that is Lyme Disease, and know that it is no joke. Good luck with the show this evening. We are all looking forward to it so very much.

And a Russian Gold bracelet… After reading your explanation. I really do trust and appreciate your commitment to quality.

Thanks for addressing this, Louis. I purchased the silver and the Russian Gold… And 2 fish…and the blackberry beads…right at midnight!

    Louis –
I very much appreciate the lighter weight! I have the older pieces you mentioned and they look brand new. They are also very comfortable, especially for the bold look. I have ordered two sets of the Etruscan jewelry, and have my fingers and toes crossed for the green later in the year.
    YOU ARE THE BEST!
    Susan

P.S. Love and healing wishes to Jac!

Louis, I also placed my order at midnight for this beautiful set, plus the bracelet and 6 other jewelry pieces. I have your “nugget” necklaces in gold & silver and they look brand new–no problems whatsoever. Glad I ordered what I wanted early–I know from experience that once they’re gone, they’re gone! Can’t wait to see the show later!

To be honest, I didn’t even pay attention to what kind of beads they were. I thought the look was FABULOUS and knew from all the Linea and Anne Klein jewelry that I own, you would NEVER sell anything sub-standard with your name on it, Louis! I did enjoy reading how these beads are created…..a new bit of knowledge. Thanks. Since I don’t get QVC2 with our TV service, I must have missed hearing that Jac was not up to par. May she be back in the “perfect pink” soon. Hugs

Thank you for taking the time to explain the process. QVC did a disservice in their abbreviated use of the term plastic beads. I very much appreciate lighter weight necklaces, finding I don’t often wear my heavy beads. Prayers for Jac.

Sonia….I’m positive you will be pleased with these necklaces… the plating is beautiful, and looks very rich. There is nothing inexpensive or Christmas ornament looking about them….if you know what I mean….if you choose to get the matching bracelet you will appreciate that they don’t weigh you down, and you can wear them all day. There are times when weight is important, like the Y Bar pendant, but when you are doing a necklace with multi strands or is very long you want to make them as light as possible. The exception for me is the faceted bead 72 inch necklace. When I first made them a few seasons ago,in solid colors, we tried them in faceted resin beads, but they had no sparkle….
So we decided to make them in a very old quality glass. They are definitely weightier then the resin, butnsooooo much more beautiful. So the new multi color version are just as beautiful. They look fabulous doubled, tripled and quadrupled!

Wow! Thanks for the info! I am one who cannot stand weighty jewelry. It becomes painful very quickly if weighty. And I have all the pieces you referenced and more. So THIS is how I am able to get statement pieces without the discomfort. Who knew? I’m all for it!! Already purchased two sets, including matching bracelets, of the Etruscan pieces. Many thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Nancy….I’m happy you made that decision. I know you will be thrilled with the pieces. I’m afraid there will be many disappointed women who have made the choice to wait. They didn’t buy that many, and fewer bracelets. I appreciate that someone like yourself appreciates these pieces, and I hope you wear them in good health….get ready for tons of compliments!

Louis- You’re the best! Hope Jaq is feeling better.PS I bought the copper set.
