OCTOBER VIOLET/BLACK SNEAK PEEK #2, #3, & #4″

For my second Oct. “Sneak Peek” photo collage ….I have posted  a separate page on the BLACK/VIOLET  HOUNDS TOOTH CHECK pieces. It was not an easy decision what color I should pick for the second combination…… should it be a black combination or something else entirely? I knew one thing….it had to be just as fabulous as the BLACK /IVORY. The Black/Ivory is a very BOLD LOOK, so I decided the second color way should be a little more “subtle” in its’ boldness……something a little more tonal, less of a contrast, still classic but with an EDGE. Camel/Black, Red/Black, Brown/Black….all pretty….but expected…..PURPLE/BLACK sang out to me. I also wanted this second coloration to be as easy to coordinate with other pieces you own…. as the Black/Ivory is……….I was HAPPY with this VIOLET/BLACK choice and I hope you are too! In the photos above you will see the jacket and skirt paired with the A228338, the ivory blouse, [notice I took the ties from the black blouse and used them on the ivory blouse…..{you can use other streamers too…like ribbons}]……the WAIST WHITTLING sweater A210360, in the black  it is perfection…..and the grape looks terrific too. Of course the KNIT PENCIL Skirt in black, A09484, the new sunburst pleated skirt and the A227575,  the black crepe pleated skirt with the yoke [pictured above] all work beautifully with the jacket. Naturally the new Black WHISPER KNIT PANT is absolutely wonderful with the jackets, but for that matter any great black pant will work….INCLUDING the NEW ONE that will be on this show!! For a more casual look wear the jacket with an ivory mock or scoop neck sweater[ if you don’t own one they are coming soon], paired with black jeans, boots and a great shoulder bag. ……CASUAL shouldn’t always mean a BARN JACKET or HOODIE. Some surprises you may not have thought about are the A218566, the crushed velvet long skirt in black or purple….both look incredible with this jacket…..a marvelous HOLIDAY LOOK……I can smell the TURKEY!!! Another wonderful combination with the HTC is A219896, the bow sweater In IVORY, BLACK, P. PINK [with the Black/Ivory HTC and worn with my P.Pink pearls], and the NEW RED, which will be coming soon. Speaking of my Linea jewelry the GREY PEARLS, A264035 look very rich with both colors of the HTC. The CROSS NECKLACE, A270199 and the CROSS EARRING A270120 in the silver tone look spectacular [the gold is already sold out in the necklace, but if you have it….it looks beautiful with both the violet and ivory HTC.]. I think my favorite….. for a more subtle look….. is the GUNMETAL KNOT NECKLACES, A270122 and the A270121, [love the two lengths worn together]……they are  PERFECT with the BLACK/VIOLET HTC. If you have any interest in these….don’t wait too long….the gold is already GONE. On top of all of this my NEW WHISPER KNIT GROUP OF SWEATERS will come in VIOLET, BLACK and IVORY…..  all to mix and match with the BLK/Violet HTC…….I can go on and on and on……but ENOUGH said…..let the questions begin….LOL……

……………………………..ENJOY, Much Love……..Louis

I have never been a houndstooth lover, but this violet and black are gorgeous!
My name is on several of those pieces. Thank you!

Btw, the tarragon jacket is beautiful, so many compliments and this is the season.

    Dear Louis,

I’ve long been a Black and Ivory Houndstooth lover, especially with some red or cranberry accents for travel. Purple has never been a favorite, but you have converted me; this Purple and Black is lIke the very last rays of light over the mountains here in New Mexico, as the moon is rising, and it’s a must have ensemble for me. I’ll mix with blacks and certainly try with lace, my black and purple velvets, suede and that medallion sweater awaiting my return home … just love all those ideas!

Thanks, Cathy … In New Mexico … Dancing and Chili Pepper on the agenda tonight

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Cathy….you have given me a whole new way of looking at the violet and black combination…..and I can absolutely “see” it….that you for the poetic visual.

  3. Celia

I’m thinking my purple suede jacket w/the gunmetal buckles is gonna love this!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’m not sure what you mean, but you should know thew purple suede and the violet do not match…..they are very different…..so if you want a HTC skirt to go with the purple suede you should go with the blk/ivory skirt and a black top or one of the new ones you haven’t seen yet!

      1. Celia

        Thanks, Louis!

  4. Carmille

Wow! Love this jacket, skirt and scarf! Louis, I am honing in on that solid purple jacket! It is a must have too – does it come in other colors too? I am going to be in trouble again, I want it all….

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes….OK you are squeezing it out of me and I have a BIG mouth and can’t hold anything back!!It will also come in Deep Teal and TOPAZ….which are the same colors as the new WK turtlenecks!! I will also have a new draped rayon jersey top and a long rayon jersey skirt that will coordinate…..OK, now you know ALL of my secrets….
      ………well almost!

      1. Carmille

Ha! Oh My!!! I am in trouble! Deep Teal and Topaz!! Lordy! I love the design on that jacket, I see all three on my list!!! Thank you!

  5. Kate

One other question? What is the solid black shawl I see tossed over the jacket? Is that from your archives?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes, that is actually a cashmere/wool blend shawl. I used to do a lot of business with LORO PIANA, during my AK days, and they gave me a black, and red one. Definitely vintage, but still looking like new.

  6. Kate

Violet whisperknit? OMG. So, would you mix florals or lace with houndstooth? Maybe something in black lace (this is an official request for more lace) and the black leather jacket from the last show with the skirt?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

KATEKATEKATEKATEKATE…..you are too much! You want lace…..you will get lace!!
Leather jacket, lace top, HTC skirt….coming right up.

      1. Kate

What can I say, I’m high-maintenance! Now, had I simply read the notes for the black and white and I would have seen that you (1) said to mix florals with houndstooth, and (2) said there was lace coming. And sequins, too. I shall now (try to) behave. That said, a question. Would the black cardigan sweater offered in spring that has the lace pattern work with the herringbone or is the lace too ivory? My office is warm, so a lighter, elbow length sweater would be a good option!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

My dearest Kate….that is a splendid idea! I checked them together and they look superb! What I really like is the fact that the emb. on the sweater is a sort of taupy silver, so it isn’t an exact match to the ivory in the skirt. It gives it a very off handed chic…….OK, let’s see if you can wrap your mind around this one…….the violet/black HTC skirt WITH….the medallion print cardigan with the black sleeves, [from the last show], in the purple combo……or the black/ivory HTC skirt with any of them. I really think it looks fantastic and straight out of ELLE.

          1. Kate

Since I thought ahead and bought all colors of the medallion sweater, I am all over that idea.

          2. Celia

Louis, would the pink/black lace cardi work as well?

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

Not only does it work it looks GREAT with the black/ivory HTC. I would suggest wearing a black WK tank under it, leaving some of the bottom buttons undone so you can see the black against the HTC, which creates a nice contrast……some black jet beads….nothing too heavy, and you will look fabulous!I also like a black sheer hose…..something women don’t wear too often anymore…but….it looks good with the black lace and is more delicate than a heavy black tight….preferably a light looking black suede pump. I like black suede because it is a matte deep black and the shine of leather isn’t as good with a blk sheer stocking. For me, it’s always about textures, light and balance. One of my personal pet peeves….is when women wear long skirts with pumps. The balance of the heaviness of the skirt and the small ankles and pumps sticking out looks wrong to me…..I much prefer any kind of boot…..even shoe boots with tights works…..but that’s just me. If I see a model doing that I make them change. I make an announcement before each fall show….LONG SKIRTS GET BOOTS!!Boy can I go on!!

    Hi Louis,
Thank you for these beautiful pieces.

Can you tell me the size of the check pattern – I am assuming that the white or violet and black are the same size – in other words does each check measure 1 inch or more?

Both colors are just so elegant. What to do, what to do?

    Thank you.
    Judy Ann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Judy Ann,
I measures the size of the actual “box” of the HTC and surprisingly only measures 3/8ths of an inch. The tails or hounds teeth that extend from the box make it look larger than it is. The black/ivory and the black/violet are exactly the same, though the black/ivory may appear larger because of the bold contrast.I know….you thought it was larger….I did too, but that is exactly what it measures. It certainly appears larger when the “whole pattern is put together.

      1. Judy Ann

Thanks, Louis. My eyes certainly played tricks on me. I just love both colors. And your suggestions to Kate about the cardigans, black with embroidered lace, and the new purple print with black sleeves, well I am just a goner.
        Thank you, thank you.

    Hi Louis,

Beautiful houndstooth pieces–thank you for bringing them to us. A couple of questions, please–will the violet houndstooth skirt match the purple chenille jacket of last year (A218572)? Also, will you be bringing the necklace pictured in the upper right hand corner to us???? Everything looks so yummy!

    Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
“Match” is a relative thing….I checked the purple chenille with the violet/black hounds tooth and the chenille is much darker, but the colors work well together….it is actually very rich looking putting the two fabrics together. So my answer is a definite YES. The jet and silver necklaces are not part of the Linea line as of yet…..I am hoping to do them for next fall….we’ll see?

      1. Carol in FL

Thanks, Louis. As usual looking forward to the show. You always have so many wonderful things that it’s hard to decide which to purchase. Your sneak peeks and answering questions help so much! It gives me time to plan. Thank you!

        Carol

  9. Carol

    Louis,

I’m a complete goner for this set! I adore the violet black combo, but will have to get that gorgeous jacket in the b/w, too. I cannot wait for the red tie front wk sweater!

I thought I noticed in the Sept show that Jac was wearing purple bead drop earrings and someone else had on the purple bead necklace with metallic spacers. Are we getting those this year? I’m so disappointed that I missed out on the gold love knot necklace this go around, but I’m sure that will be reordered. I did get the multi-crosses, though, so I’ll just have to “make do” with those. LOL.

It’s still summer here, but I’ll be ready for winter when it finally arrives in all my Linea finery. Not to be a pest, but did you ever find out what happened to the wk pants that went missing? Should i keep stalking the small blacks?

    Thanks!
    crdlb

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Carol,
The purple drop earring and the black jet necklace with the large purple and fuchsia beads was the third choice for that set. but the other two colors were purchased and not the purple. The other two, with the wine, amber and olive beads worked perfectly with the “Town and Country ” tweeds…..so they were chosen. Maybe if these do well and they get reordered, I will be able to add the purple next time around. If you are really considering getting the violet/black HTC, or for that matter any of the new WK sweaters in the violet to mix with ivory and black, I strongly suggest getting the gunmetal love knot necklaces. The shine of the dark gray metal on the violet looks superb. I will also have a new small demi hoop earring to match. It’s a little “puffed” hoop that I consider an every day earring. It will be in the gunmetal, silver and gold.
The mystery of the sm and 2x WK pant is over. When the factory ships garments, they usually ship 2 to three sizes in a box and they try to always ship a large size with a small size. I guess this is to avoid confusion when they arrive. From my understanding, the box with the sm and 2x was badly damaged in the shipping and when the box was opened many of the garments were damaged, so the whole box was rejected and sent back to my manufacturer for sorting. Unfortunately, a very small percentage were good, not even enough to talk about……at this point it is really like winning the lottery, that’s how few there are. Honestly, I suggest to forget about them for this season and let’s hope there aren’t so many returns that they will be considered for next year as a reorder. I am so sorry to disappoint so many women especially after I boasted how they were my all time favorite pant. I do apologize to EVERYONE who was let down and disappointed. Sometimes things are just out of our control.

      1. Jane

        Louis,
Thank you for the answer regarding the 2x WK Tarragon pants. Interestingly, when I couldn’t get the Tarragon in 2x I ordered the 1x and I actually like the fit of them better than the 2x (which I got in black and walnut). I have found that in anything WK I should always size down.

There was just so much angst when at midnight we thought they were already sold out! Thank you for clearing up the mystery.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Jane…..I know when something like this happens, everyone immediately blames QVC, but this was certainly not their fault. The people who are in charge of entering quantities into the system only know what the numbers are, not the reason, and quite frankly it’s not their job or concern to know. I think that can also be said for Customer Service. If they were informed about every single delivery that came into the warehouse every single day, they would be buried with info. When things like this happen, we all try to expedite the situation ASAP, but it does take a lot of time to unpack, check each piece, sort, repack and ship back to the Q,and then it has to be reprocessed all over again……and when I say we, I mean my manufacturer and the division of people at QVC who are in charge of these things. Again, I apologize for any disappoint this snafu has incurred….that was absolutely not the way I wanted this to unfold.

          1. Jane

            Louis,

Please, absolutely no need to apologize! It’s just not knowing what’s going on that is upsetting. The information you’ve provided about what’s involved in the “system” is very helpful.

Thanks, again, and looking forward to your show on Oct. 19.

            Jane

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

I just felt badly that I PUSHED this pant so much and then this had to happen…..and what makes it worse is I had no idea there was a problem until I heard it from all of you……I know production is not my responsibility, but I do feel a sense of responsibility to please my ladies.

            2. Carol

Thanks for letting me know. I actually was able to grab some XS in black before they sold out, and they do fit–although they are barely long enough. The size smalls in the other colors were longer, so that’s why I was really hoping to get the smalls. HOWEVER, I have two pairs of the xs, so now I have renewed resolve not to gain any weight this holiday season.

              I guess that’s a blessing in disguise?

              Thanks again,

              crdlb

    Louis,

    I see a solid purple jacket ????????
