“CHANTAL IN POSITANO”

……………..Chantal sent me these pictures this morning………She’s in POSITANO with her family! I have such great memories of being there with Jac and great friends…..Before Chantal left we planned a complete Linea wardrobe. Above she’s wearing the black boho skirt as a dress, the Roma necklace and clip earring and the gold wire cuff. She looks stunning, and happy…….and oh so ITALIAN………..Bacci Chantal

Louis, I love it when you share your memories. That’s a great story. What a fascinating life you’ve had, and now you share it with us, giving us joy. Love and blessings to you!

Dear Louis, in response to #12, I’ll ask Dominic about your friends when we see him in a few weeks. He always invites us for a chat over his homemade limoncello. I’ve begun planning my Linea travel wardrobe for that trip, which you make so easy, and garners many compliments! Also, I must add that when we were in Florence in June, we awoke to an unusually cool day, which demanded an impromptu change of wardrobe for our stroll up the Arno from the St. Regis. So I threw together your white denim trousers, A304732, and your red sweater, A285546, with the unexpected result of feeling casually elegant, as if I’d planned it all along! LOL. By the way, I love how you interact so personally with your customers. You are a uniquely talented and genuinely warm gentleman. Thank you for blessing us all.

Pamela….you mentioned two of my most favorite places in the world Positano and Florence. When I worked for Anne Klein [20 years] I went to Florence at least twice a year sometimes more to work on my knit wear collection and the shoe collection. I have great friends, I should say family, in Florence. They have a fantastic house in the hills above the city, Settiginano [I’m sure I spelled it wrong]. I spent many wonderful days and evenings at their home, eating wonderful food and looking at their olive orchards and the view of Florence. I knew Giovanna and Marcello when both of their children were born and now their sons are married with children of their own. When I first went to Florence as a very young man, almost 50 years ago, I met a group of art students, from all over the world, studying in Florence. We would go out every night. When you’re young you can do that. Once we almost got arrested on the Ponte de Vecchio. We were at the center of the bridge, where it is open to the river, drinking wine and having a great time. I guess the police thought we were having too good a time. After he looked at our papers and realized some of us were foreigners, he just let us go……so we went to Santa Croce and finished our good time there!

Louis, Thank you for the list of pieces you gave Chantal. I have many of them, too! I think I won’t be the only one who will appreciate your ideas for a travel wardrobe!

Wow! Chantal is rocking this outfit! So clever and yet so easy and elegant. Stunning.
I would love a travel wardrobe suggestion page if you have the time. I end up taking your sweaters for the cold weather trips but a warm weather wardrobe would be great too.

I don’t think I told you this Louis but last year this month we had to evacuate in a hurry because the Complex Fire of Mendocino County was taking off near us. I ran upstairs to our bedroom with some big shopping bags and immediately filled two of them with my stash of Linea sweaters that I have collected for years. A girl must keep her head and prioritize! (no harm came to us or the house).

Louis, She is so beautiful and even more so in your lovely clothes. If it isn’t asking too much, could you or Jennifer post the wardrobe you put together for Chantal’s trip? So many of us travel and have your clothing–I think it would be inspiring to see and perhaps use in our own travels! Thank you. Barbara C.

Dear Barbara, I literally when though the racks of my samples and just pulled things and put them in a big brown paper bag It was based on black and white with a few things in color like the firecracker red safari shirt, the blue and bright pink stripe shirts that she could wear tied at the waist over a tank or loose, the ribbed bottom tank in black, white and turquoise. The black white diagonal stripe dress from a few years ago the, latte tie dye dress the crushed gauze shear shirt and the dress in the same fabric. A sheer boucle sweater and shrug to wear with the sleeveless dresses and tops. two bohos black and white…..a 3 tiered short white cotton skirt with laser cutouts the crinkle georgette off the shoulder peasant blouse in black and white…..the zip front white crop pant. white denim shorts Capri and boot cut pants…the ivory lace pant, and a few more dresses……..There was probably more but I don’t remember….plus 5 or 6 necklaces in gold and the one gold wire cuff. It could all fit in a duffel bag and none of it would wrinkle.

Dear Louis, in response to your question (#4), The Eden Roc is a boutique Hotel on Via G. Marconi in Positano, owned by the Casola family since Dominic opened it in the “60’s, where he’s still presiding!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I am sure Dominic must have known my dear friends Andrea Pfister [the P is silent] and Jean Piere Dupre. They owned the MOST magnificent villa in Praiano, the next village down. They knew everyone and everyone knew them. I often wonder what became of the villa and who owns it now?

    Delightful!

She looks amazing in your clothing and jewelry. Very on trend, with tube tops being so popular, with using the skirt that way.

Not enough superlatives to describe the beauty in these photos.

The place, the girl, the jewelry… Too, too much.

Bella, Chantal! We’ll return to Positano in a few weeks. It’s like coming home to our favorite, Eden Roc Hotel! My wardrobe will be virtually all Linea, all the time!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Pamela you are so lucky to be going back to one of the most beautiful places in the world…..The Eden Rock, I know I’ve passed it many times, but I can’t place where it is? Is it in Positano or just outside?

  15. Nancy (AKA TheOwl)

Chantal is always beautiful and lovely, but never more so than in these pictures! I’ll never make it to Positano but I do wear Linea every day. My husband says I always look fabulous. Thanks for all your help in pulling that off. Chantal, and of course so-beautiful Jacques, are an inspiration.

  16. Jackie

Stunning. Lovely. Beautiful. This describes Chantal AND Positano. I guarantee Chantal will turn some heads with this outfit. My husband and I were in Positano and surrounding areas a few months ago at the end of May. The climate, food, wine,, and views are spectacular. Thanks Louis for sharing.
